Do u really know the meaning of Human Rights? I do shed tears in my heart when i see ignorant people like u.
Justice cannot be said to have been done but seen to have been done. The Poster is still innocent of all the offence until found guilty by a competent court. Don't u know the difference between 5 years to 7 years? Where is your thinking cap?
The internet is made up of wise people and loads of big fools continue to spread your ignorance.
Its even criminal for the Home Office to come up with false statements about the poster. The Home Office erred on a point of law by not letting the Judge know that u have only overstayed for 5 years not 7 years as claimed. this is a testimony to the failure of the British Judiciary system.
In the US u are given fair hearing and u still have the rights to appeal against any unfavourable judgement.
Poster i think u should get in touch with a good Lawyer who knows his onions when it comes to matters like this.
Deporting u is not the big deal but it should be done transparently without any infringement on your Fundamental Human rights.
In addition i think the offence is bailable so i still don't get the reason why u were denied bail.
Well keep your head up and hope for the best but be prepared for the worst when it comes to UK Immigration issues cos they suck.
Dude, i don't know what u're smoking but this guy clearly broke UK immigration law. he absolutely needs to be deported back home. His actually fortunate that his getting some kinda hearing. I really don't care how much he overstayed his visa cuz it really doesn't matter. Either way, he is subject to deportation.
Did you read all his rants trying to justify why he didn't return back to his country before the expiration of his visa?? I won't be surprised to know that he was probably shoving human right in front of the judge. What other human rights is he looking for when his been put in a detention center and i bet his getting 3 meals a day and a warm shower.
He needs to shut up, take whatever money the UK government offers him and get on that deportation flight. I'm sick and tired of illegals demanding for human rights. Go back to your country and demand human rights.
And like others pointed out, he actually has committed a felony by using false ID to gain employment. He should be jailed for atleast 5 years without possibility of parole and then be deported at the expiration of his sentence. I bet he wont think of overstaying his visa in future and thats if any country issues him a visa with his felony record.

And boi, u need to start watching how you talk to folks on this site. You can make your point without insulting anyone.

Yeah I thought about that, but not sure how soon I'll get a job after  I get the PSW visa, and it might harm my application as they would look at it like I came for studies in the UK and didn't go back to Nigeria after. I think I'll give it a shot now, I have a decent statement of account e.t.c, Thanks !
Give it a shot now. all they can say is NO
TravelRe: Apply For Epassport In England Or In Nigeria? by johnkent(m): 3:48pm On Aug 27, 2010
cherio:
Guys,
I have a problem,
I live in the UK and before I left Nigeria I had applied for the ePassport (take picture) but did not go back to the passport office to collect the ePassport. I currently hold the old passport and the passport will expire this month. I went online and applied again for a new ePassport and will be going to the London Embassy to take picture and fingerprint.

Will this be a problem?
I am kind of confused! and I need advice!
U can't be issued 2 valid passports (u could if you're are frequent traveler). You'll probably have to go back to Nigeria to pick up ur passport or have someone pick it up for ya. U are now in the center of Nigerian bureaucracy. sucks to be you right now.

Now, this statement shows that you're the one having the conception in your mind and you seem to be making assessments in stereotype, making assumtion that any other country that isn't the USA is inferior to the USA.
Do we really need to talk about this?
I think Pres. Barack will be in a much better position to answer that question. haha

Now, consider stars like Snoop Dogg who was refused the UK visas on several occasions, also consider Chris Brown who received a UK ban; what about Farouk Abdumutallab whose UK visa was cancelled while he obtained a US visa? Now, think about Dr. Zakir Naik who is banned from the UK (while he holds Canadian 5years multi-entry visa/work permit) before Canada and the U.S follow suit and ban him as well. Please, get your facts right.
Got ur point. Holding a US passport doesn't guarantee entry into any country but the United States. Most of the american's you have mentioned have either felony or misdemeanor convictions which makes them ineligible for the visa waiver program and also visa application denial at a UK consulate.
Farouk wasn't issued a US visa because he had a previous UK visa. if the US really cared about his travel(s) to the UK, they would have tried to figure out why his UK visa was revoked. Like i said, the US doesn't care about your travel history to other European countries and you know why; Alot of folks have been to Europe and never overstayed but do overstay when they arrive the US.

Anyways, lets not via off the point. These are all independent countries and do issue visas at their own discretion. No visa application is guaranteed.
One of these days, Nigeria will make it on the list of countries on the US visa waiver program. I have faith in my fatherland.
TravelRe: 10 Year Uk Ban by johnkent(m): 1:22am On Aug 27, 2010
At Kadman, apply for a visa and u just never know.
The most important thing that u'll need is strong ties to the UK. Job, fat bank account, family if any. Its always very hard to show strong ties to a country where u don't live permanently.
Make hotels reservations here in the US but do not purchase any flight ticket. Make the vacation not more than 10days.

I disagree with you about this claim; though, valid or expired European visas in one's passport doesn't automatically guarantee a US visa success, but every advanced country do take travel history into consideration. A citizen of a third world country who has had legitimate travel experience and has not breached the conditions of the visas will definitely earn more credibility compared to a person who is applying to travel abroad for the first time. So, your claim that the USA "does not give a damn" about a person's travel history does not hold water otherwise, there wouldn't have been a TRAVEL HISTORY SECTION in the visa application form.
Well, I made my assumption based on experience. I've had multiple family member who have visited the Uk several times and 2 of them the US, but they were denied US visa's on multiple occasions. Why, i have no clue.

Just don't assume you'll get a US Visa because you've been to other countries. But on the other hand, having been to the US always gives u an edge when applying for a visa to other countries.
TravelRe: 10 Year Uk Ban by johnkent(m): 10:26pm On Aug 26, 2010
Like i said, it wouldn't hurt to try. u have a 50/50 chance of getting the visa.
I dont know how UK immigration works but will you still be legal in the UK till jan 2011 even after graduationhuhhuhhuh
Cuz in the US, having a valid visa doesn't mean anything. What matters is the I-94 arrival card.

@ JohnKent

I ended up going to a University in England for my Masters, no I just handed in my dissertation, although my student visa runs till Jan 2011. I want to apply to US for holidays but I am worried I waited to long, and might be denied since I have handed in my dissertation already and also would be using hotel reservations e.t.c, I do have a solid statement of ACC. I have also gotten 2 Schengen visas during my one year which might help. Do you think I should go ahead or not bother with it. Thanks

@OP, sorry for derailing your thread. Anyone's advice is also welcome wink
Alot of folks including you believe that having traveled to Europe increasing your chance of getting a US visa. NOT. That is not usually the case. US consular officers don't give a damn where u''ve been before.
But to answer your questions, i dont think there's any harm in applying. I hear the US embassy in london is just a stringent as the embassy in Nigeria.
Yes, ur visa expires in Jan 2011 but since u're almost done with school, will you be returning to the UK after ur short stay in the US? The consular officer might see you as an intending immigrant because you just got done with ur masters degree and might be wanting to relocate to the US. You'll have to show strong ties to either Nigeria or the UK.
How long have u been in the UK and during those years, did u ever go back to nigeria?? That would show close ties to nigeria.
Holla.

Again, we need to know when the 10yrs ban fraudulent document law was signed into law. Most laws are usually not retroactive. if it was after he applied for the visa with fraudulent documents, then he should be okay. Again , thats my 2 cents

While any person who copulates with consenting ADULT members of their own gender should certainly be allowed to do so in the privacy of their own home, there is still something baffling about gay activism, parades and protests.  There really is NO need for fanfare and publicity over what is a personal and private choice that also happens to be considered repulsive by a majority of people.  Stay in the closet already, and maybe that homophobia will die down.

Bill Clinton's policy of " Don't ask - Don't tell" ,with regards the sexual orientation of new military recruits during his presidency, was a sensible compromise that kept sexuality the strictly private matter it ought to be.  In other words, since I feel no compulsion to carry placards, beat drums and wear T-shirt slogans proclaiming my lust for fine young natural-born women and my love of their luscious curves and furry clam, those who opt for the gay lifestyle should also refrain from celebrating their odd practice as if it were some enviable accomplishment that needs to be covered by regular press conferences.
Believe me on this, If gays were given the right to marry, U won't see them on TV asking for rights or anything like that.

Its okay to be Upset but you should be old and smart enough to make the right decisions for yourself.
We shouldn't be scared of homosexuals. They are humans as much as we are. Have you ever thought about why someone would choose to be gay when they know for sure that they might be "killed" in a country like nigeriahuh??

As much as Nigeria denies it, there are more gays in Nigeria than in any other country of the same size.
We have to understand that gays are just as human as we are. They are just asking for basic human rights. They don't want you to accept them, they just want to be left alone to love themselves. I don't see why some heterosexuals are so much against homosexuality.

If i may ask, how old are yahuh?
TravelRe: Usa Invitation Letter/others by johnkent(m): 4:46am On Jul 24, 2010
There isnt any formal way to write a letter. she doesn't have to write you a personal letter inviting you to the states. Nobody writes letters these days. everything is done over the phone.
She just needs to address a letter to the embassy which you'll take with you to the interview.
In the letter, she'll have to state how's she's related to you, what she does for a living, how long you'll be staying with her and where, if she'll be providing room and board for the duration of your visit and how she'll appreciate if the visa is issued to you so you guys can spend time together and get to see some sights.
There is no format to this letter. She'll also have to give ya a copy of the data page of her passport to show proof of citizenship/ US residency.
Again, she might have to give ya copies of her last 4 paystubs or bank statement to show that she can actually support you for the few wks you'll be spending with her.

Wish ya luck mayne.

prince_onx:
Visit, Business, Tourist, and Conference visa are the same category my friend (B1/B2). You don't need a different visa to go shoping after your conference. Its normal and comon for people to buy stuff when they visit here and incase you don't know once a Nigeria, always a Nigerian whether you live in Nigeria or US they'll still treat you the same. Even when you become a US citizen, your American passport will still say place of birth "Nigeria" so don't be surprise if you get the same treatment even here in the US consulates. just wasted 5mnts of my time that I will never get back!
Ofcourse we all know they are all the same categories of visa but remember on the visa forms, they ask "reason for visit".
Again, if you have an itinerary that shows a visit for 5 days, i think u should only be issued a 5 days visa especially for citizens of countries with a high rate of visa overstay. If you feel like u need some extra days before or after the conference, then get an itinerary that shows a 10 days trip. thats my 2 cents.
