Sometimes women will just come out and think they can just twist everything in their own favour, rape charges is one of those instruments they've used to bring down so many men. it's high time they started investigating these rape cases, it takes two to tango

Culture is dynamic. It is not westernisation. There were so many things our forefathers did that didn't make it to the 21st century so stating culture is not doing it for me at all. A culture that doesn't teach contentment and understanding is not my cup of business.

Back then meat was a thing. It was not expensive and people can often source for their own meat. Everything is expensive now and corona is outside.

Also, it is their money; it is his choice to visit. They have their reasons from financial to managing the available resources or JUST CHOICE.

If he doesn't like a piece of meat, he should stop at a restaurant and shove down a whole chicken. He should complain maybe next time she should consider tap water.
I have already said that in my post that he should show understanding, as regards culture, I repeat, Yoruba culture doesn't teach covetousness, deserving respect doesn't translate to lack of contentment, if you are a Yoruba gal and you are married by now, you'll know better. Take it or leave it, you can only discard something when you get something else, most folks abominate their culture once they have exposure to the western style...wake up.

The culture that teaches respect but not contentment. Interesting!

He should not be emphatic, let him continue to hit his head. I bet the in-law doesn't know she has rented a suplex in his head.
And to the OP, there's a Yoruba proverb that says: "when the host is showing the visitor a sliced yam, it's time to go home". grin

That's not Yoruba culture, I didn't support the OP 100% because he's supposed to understand but who knows maybe there's a rift between the duo. Westernization has made us forgot our culture and values.
FamilyRe: My Brother's Wife Served Me With Just A Meat Instead Of Two Meats by Johnmattee(m): 7:31am On Jun 02, 2020
Those people attacking the OP are probably those that don't understand Yoruba culture and tradition, though times are hard, but courtesy in my culture stipulates you treat your inlaw with respect which can come in any form. But because of the situation in the country, the OP should be empathic.

The reason you are poor is because you consider the elites your enemies. Everyone was born with a clean slate. While other people or their parents were toiling hard to soft to make money, your parents or you were busy lazying around waiting for a Sky Daddy to come to your rescue, now the reality has come and the elites have become your reason for being wretched.
That is totally wrong of you, it shows you don't know or are indifferent to the plight of the masses, Everyone is not born on a clean slate, get that straight into your head. even in developed countries, everyone doesn't have equal opportunities it's just that it's better there than here. The chasm between the rich and poor in Nigeria is so wide, maybe because you are getting everything on a platter of gold doesn't make you know what's going out there. Remember fingers are not equal. I'll recommend ba book "Outliers" by Malcolm Gladwell.

ProgrammingRe: Why Do Developers Think Jquery Is Obsolete? by Johnmattee(m): 7:04pm On May 14, 2020
LSarcastic:
I remember a day I decided to use vanilla Javascript for a website I was working on https://www.bonychicken.com I spent four days debugging a simple selector. I asked for help on all possible places. Everyone agreed there was no bug in my code. It eventually worked when I gave up on my stubborness and used JQuery, it worked like a charm.

It is true that JQuery is past its prime but it is so damned useful. People would say you could do it all with vanilla JS. Fine. Build your website with it and tell me what happened. Javascript has improved but not enough to ignore JQuery all together. That's why Bootstrap, the world's number one frontend framework still ships Jquery with it.
They are not stupid.
Bootstrap 5 is dropping jQuery, go to their website or Google it...so jQuery has outlived its usefulness.
ProgrammingRe: Node Js Is Dead ? Long Live Deno Js by Johnmattee(m): 10:24pm On May 11, 2020
as far as I'm concerned, I don't give a shit about a Deno or Melaye grin . To me, node js has better advantages because of NPM, which makes development easier offline, As regards the ES6 modules in Demo, it can still be implemented in node, so what the fuss about Deno, they could have called it Reno! grin

typescript gives JavaScript power, it's knowledge is essential in node.js and angular.
ProgrammingRe: I Find It Hard Learning Javascript...i Need Help by Johnmattee(m): 11:05pm On May 03, 2020
I've been learning JavaScript for some time, the first material I laid my hands on was Eloquent JavaScript, I read till chapter 4, then I was still stucked at one part called "weresquirrel" . I was like WTF! I later jumped to regular expression and I hit another block, later I resorted to another learning material "JavaScript for kids", then I move up to other books which gave me a clear understanding of the language. But one thing about this thing is practice, practice and practice. no amount of reading or watching can make one attain level of mastery.
if one is good in JavaScript, picking up PHP and python won't be a hassle, same with frameworks....Still a learner, hoping to be a JavaScript ninja soon cheesy

Brython ke. E go hard o. Most web browsers are built to only accept JavaScript with the billions of web sites out there all running JavaScript on the front end. E go hard walai. Even if it becomes popular someone who has mastered JavaScript can easily pick up python and learn brython in less than a month. So all in all the Koko is to know the language very well.
grin JavaScript the king of the web...

Frameworks come and go but the language would still remain. It's the language of the web. It's been so since 1995. That's why it is best to learn the language and know it very well before touching frameworks but some people choose to go learn frameworks even when they haven't grasped the language the framework is built on. Besides once you get one language it's always easy to master another. The key is getting one language and knowing it very well not jumping from one to another.
You are right on that, I personally want to master JavaScript, because trying to jump to framework will get you frustrated especially when you are the type that wants to know how things work under the hood. Knowing data structures and algorithms will make it easy to pick up another language in less than a week. But lemme ask you what about the advent of web assembly and Brython. JavaScript has a battle with these contenders.

No matter how it advances you still need real humans to do the automation and control it. Web development is just going to keep advancing. Can you compare web development from even 2013 to now? So much has changed. It's dynamic. JavaScript is going to get more advanced as language and more difficult to master.
I didn't leave out humans in my post. About JavaScript getting advanced, do you think JavaScript can keep up with the pressure for long? I know that frameworks will keep springing up that will make the whole thing shitty...Time will tell.

Maybe wordpress kind of websites would be built with bots. Highly complex and responsive web apps would be built by real human beings. Besides solidity has a lot in common with JavaScript. Infact it's JavaScript on steroids. Anything web related can't do without JavaScript. It's getting used in game development and internet of things.
I agree but technology keep improving daily...you never can tell. it may take time but it will surely come to pass. Different breeds of human beings are emerging, same will be for technology where everything will be automated. Human expertise will still be needed to control the automation.

. I saw it when I googled the thing, I'll find out about the language. I think block chain and artificial intelligence is the future of programming. don't be surprised if in years to come, bots are building websites grin

Op don't mind anyone that says you will do much better in Yahoo.

Freelancing pays depending on the sites you join. Upwork is amazing and if you are good enough after you learn to be accepted on sites like toptal or coding ninjas then the sky is the limit. Imagine earning like 60k dollars a year salary in Nigeria. This is possible If you can get accepted on toptal.

As for Jobs there's a ton of programming jobs in Nigeria but the pay might be too small for you. If working for a company is your thing then you should be on the hunt for remote jobs or jobs that come with relocation packages.

A friend of mine is a Blockchain developer in Nigeria. He presently earns 81000 dollars as salary. I linked him to a job I saw the pay was 30000 dollars he refused accepting it citing it as too low. He's presently hunting for 150k dollars a year job. The 81000 dollars job is remote while he also works for as a Blockchain developer for a Nigerian bank. The bank work gives him around 300k a month.

But you have to be good to get those high paying remote jobs o. You need to have projects to show off and you must learn data structures and algorithms. Oyinbo no dey take that thing play at all. Their interview questions are always based around those topics.

Having the knowledge is one thing. Knowing how to hunt for opportunities is another. You might be very good at a certain craft but if you can't hunt for opportunities you might have to settle with what is available.
Can JavaScript be used in block chain? and how far will I go in JavaScript before learning block chain?

It takes less than 3months to learn.
On the other hand, it takes at least 2years of practice to become a professional.
