PoliticsRe: Senate Sends Delegation To London Over Ekweremadu’s Arrest by Johnrake69: 9:56am On Jul 04, 2022
This is the height of insensitivity. You're sending high powered delegation to defend someone facing a criminal case with tax payers money. While our economy is in ruins.

ASUU strike,
Daily killings,
Galloping inflation,
Huge number of IDPs when Nigeria is not at war.

I will continue to say this, the masses need to fight to protect their interest which should be good governance that will improve the lives of every Nigerian. Religion and ethnicity has no place in this.

The Elite will always protect their interests which is to win elections at all cost and share our commonwealth among their class.

PoliticsInfrastructure In The Nigerian Context Can't Drive Economy by Johnrake69(op): 8:28am On Jul 03, 2022
The type of infrastructure being pushed forward by this government will never improve our economy.

Indians and Chinese make up a bulk of the work force.

There's no local content. Our schools are on strike. It's same way we spent money to build Ajaokuta steel and refinery that we have to rely on the Russians to maintain it. No single input by our institutions. We rely on foreign help.

We can't keep putting the cart before the horse.

On the other hand compare the world's floating tunnel being built in Norway known as the E39 project. The contract is handled by Norwegian Public Roads Administration in collaboration with 3 of the largest universities in Norway. And currently, 50 PhD students are all working to solve engineering challenges of the project.

Can we mention any project in Nigeria with collaboration with our tertiary institutions?

What politicians do is borrow money to start a bogus project at a ridiculous amount then take their kickback to Europe to hide. There's no impact or whatsoever on the economy.

If the said project breaks down we're screwed like the Ajaokuta steel and our refinery too.

We must grow organically.

The machines and materials for the Projects are all imported. The diesel that fuel the same imported machines are also imported while we have crude oil running beneath us.

We have ended up with over $100 billion of debt with nothing to show for it.

The trains and machines being operated at various work sites by Chinese and Indians can be done by average Nigerians if trained. The Nigerian project most be done by Nigerians.

This will spore patriotism. But what we have is a situation the masses are looking afar from a project. And at the some people will continue to steal from the sites because they can't relate with the project.

We're building Railway with borrowed funds, men and materials while having increasing unemployment rate that has created insecurity.

Before Obi became a governor in Anambra in 2006. Onitsha most especially was filled with restless youths hanging around head bridge and Upper iweka. This was the first state in Nigeria where a sitting governor was kidnapped.

Obi's solution was to encourage factories setup. Male child school enrollment. And today, Anambra is among the top states in every developmental indices in Nigeria.

sound education is fundamental to economic growth and development. We're simply building castle in the air as illustrated with the last attack on the Abuja-Kaduna railway

that is why i said u reason like an illiterate..

first of all.. producing crude oil locally will not push the price of PMS or diesel to drop exponentially...except if the local refineries will buy crude oil from NNPC at a price that is exponentially lower than the international prices/OPEC prices..(this is in violation of Nigeria's membership as an OPEC member as she should sell it crude oil in correspondence to OPEC pricing)

an even if NNPC go ahead and sell crude at lower pricing...they have in another form introduced subsides cool cool

secondly the only way the prices drop if we produce locally is if CBN introduces excess amount of dollars into the forex market..creating excess supply and allowing them to sell a dollar for like N200 instead of N414 officially (this option is realistically impossible tongue)

in summary
if the exchange rate remains the same, crude oil still the same at slightly above $100, government is not willing to subsidize local refineries
producing diesel locally is not going to drop the price by exponential rate compared to importing..what we will save is shipping cost and some taxes that goes to the countries we buy from

major experts in global economics including the CBN governor, aliko dangote, our finance minister zainab ahmed, Rabiu and evrn africa development bank CEO Akinwumi Adeshina and Okonjo Iweala.. all said that the local production of fuel by dangote refinery or any other private refinery will allow Nigeria save huge foreign exchange and end fuel shortages.....they have never in their lives said it will reduce to cost of fuel ....(use ur google and confirm this too..since u dont have sense cool cool)...why not go and insult dem all and call dem mofos maybe they dont know what they are saying..

now to diesel..

Iran sells diesel locally at $0.011

Venezuela $0.022

Angola $0.315

Algeria $0.199

Ethiopia $0.679

Togo $1.064

America $1.511

Nigeria $1.617
ur pricing are very accurate but u intentionally ignored the policies behind them
iran, venezuela, algeria, angola, togo, ethiopia all subsidize diesel ..inshort all the countries u mentioned subsidize diesel at different rates..
iran can handle it subsidies to keep diesel cost around cents..
togo being a poor country manages to keep diesel at about a dollar compared to $1.6 as it is sold in Nigeria...

if u think..diesel is so cheap in iran, venezuela, algeria etc..because they have oil then u are a joker..make ur research

Nigeria does not subsidize diesel or gas...it only PMS dat is subsidized....every other product sell at prices related to the market..it has been like this since obasanjo time..only PMS is subsidized and it cost us N3 trillion yearly
..if u want diesel to come down simply say buhari should subsidize diesel and gas

https://www.togofirst.com/en/oil-and-gas/1206-8016-state-spent-cfa13-billion-to-subsidize-petroleum-products-since-2019

https://www.iranintl.com/en/202202042437

u can use google to get more facts
You're simply a clown. So Diesel is cheaper in Venezuela or Angola not because they have crude oil abi? Why is it not possible with countries that don't have crude oil?

The only reason Iran or Venezuela is able to keep price of diesel so low is because they have oil. If they didn't have crude oil and relied on international prices it won't have been possible. It's only common sense.

Cost of importation of diesel from Europe include shipping, taxes, insurance, cost of production that includes labour cost. Can you compare the cost of labor in Nigeria to that of Europe?

Alot of cost factors goes into it.

You people always rush to compare Nigeria to Europe and America leaving out the most important indices like per capita income, subsidized agricultural industry.

America subsidize corn, Soyabeans, wheat, cotton and rice.

EU has a huge Subsidy package for farmers.

What's my own. Let's continue to rationalize deliberate impoverishment of the Nigerian masses when the crisis will start everyone of us will face it.

you sound like an illiterate(doesnt mean u r an illiterate)..sorry to say..and i didnt insult..
this is the same mentality the average thugs and touts on street have

did buhari send ukraine to go and romance with NATO or putin to start a war..or u think this increase is only in Nigeria

the same BRT price u paid in 2020 when diesel was N180 is the same price u want to pay when it is N800..haba na..u sef check am

APC isnt responsible for the jump in oil prices and diesel respectively..it is a deregulated market..meaning the price is determined by how much marketers import the product..

even if we produce diesel locally..the price difference cannot pass N50..meaning..the diesel price will still correspond to the exchange rate and price of crude oil,..

u have to admit that the cost of living all over the world is exponentially high and this is beyond government..
double ur hussle..
Lol... You're just an ignorant Mofo. I can bet my life you don't even know what hustle is about.

Show me where Europeans and Americans are buying gas at 500% increment from last year despite the Russian and Ukrainian war?

Your level of ignorance in this country needs to be given special attention.

What we have is imported inflation because the APC government failed to build new refineries or make our old ones to work like they told us before they got into power.

It's only in Nigeria we make excuses for clueless government.

And telling me that even if we produce diesel the difference won't be more than #50 really shows how daft you're.

A simple Google search would have help cure your ignorance.

Iran sells diesel locally at $0.011

Venezuela $0.022

Angola $0.315

Algeria $0.199

Ethiopia $0.679

Togo $1.064

America $1.511

Nigeria $1.617

Presently Nigerians are buying diesel higher than Americans.

Our per capita income is $1800 while America is $63,000.

Unless you want subsidy on petrol again and the Govt create anoda looting Avenue for dem self's...
I get weak when I hear this excuse from the so called woke Nigerians.

Those countries you mentioned enjoy power supply more than Nigerians.

Please tell me what's the minimum wage in Nigeria compared to Europe and America you have mentioned?

Since the deregulation of Diesel how has that improved our lives as Nigerians?

There's no oil producing nation buying fuel as costly as Nigeria when we compare the earning power of their citizens. What will bury this country is corruption.

Nigerians are already extremely poor. Exposing Nigerians to more hardship will only create a crisis we can't solve. Endsars will be a joke.

In Europe, the price of flour, Sugar has remained relatively stable for the past 20years. It's not because it can't be increased but the government knows the potential danger.

Even America pays subsidy to American farmers to make food affordable. Total support to farmers is above $500 billion yearly and America is the advocate of capitalism.

Corn, Soyabeans, wheat, cotton and rice are all subsidized in America.

But in Nigeria Bread has gone from #300 to #800 within a year and according to you it's normal. It's all right.

You are bringing blogger news of Buhari eating 500millon naira food a day, or 75 million naira haircut a day. We can see it in his lifestyle, lol.

When he wasn't the president, wasn't there so much complains, why not say Jonathan was insincere too, we heard news of real corruption by his wife, we saw the estate and hotel. We heard about the millions of dollars. Jonathan brought subsidy, an it was very hard for months.

Same with Obasanjo and Atiku, we heard about how he packed money to build his farm, we heard about how he couldn't do well in 8 years, despite all the money, they wasted so much Time.

Okay I accept Buhari and Osinbanjo failed, to you who is the person that will make the who on Nigeria a develop country, you?? Or who??
What i stated are not blogger news. You can pick up the appropriation acts from 2015-to date.

Nigeria has never been this bad. Voting for Apc or Pdp is simply to reinforce failure. Only Peter Obi is addressing the issue of waste. Eliminate waste in the system then you have solved about 50% of Nigerian's problems.
