Privatisation is the solution, just not done correctly because there is no supervision. There should be a law against power outage beside I don't think electricity in Africa will ever be okay till we go Nuclear
See take it or leave it. Privatization of critical infrastructure is bad for any society.

Reason we must hold office holders accountable. Private individuals are only interested in profit and as far as they can make profit while selling darkness they're cool.

We like to copy rubbish. In 2005, Australian government wanted to sell its stake in Snowy hydro an Energy generating and retailing company and there was a massive public outrage. The government had to cancel the planned sale and until today the company has been growing massively.

We cant continue to sell our national assets. Nigerians must hold its leaders accountable.

Saudi Aramco,
Sinopec Group,
Kuwait Petroleum Corporation,
China National Petroleum Corporation,
PEMEX,
PETRONAS,
National Iranian Oil Company; these are all government owned and they're in control of energy in the world.

We must not shy away from taking responsibility over our years of silence while the country is run to the ground by unpatriotic elements. Filthy politicians that sell us short for kick backs.

1.Government running the thing didn't make it better. For most of my life, NEPA ran power, and did a bad job of it.

2.It costs and may cost a lot of money...far more than what we earn from oyel and loans, to get 24 hour power.

3.Privatisiaiton worked for the telecoms sector...we went from 300000 lines under NITEL to nearly 100 million lines under the GSM privatisaiton.

4.The problem is, government in privatising power kept the right to set prices...and kept them below what it costs to produce power..and thus many power companies run at a loss...and if they do not reject power, their debt would shoot shoot up.

Privatisation is never a solution. Sadly our incompetent rulers already sold us the lie. And the masses bought the lie. Nothing we change until we hold our office holders accountable for their actions and inactions

This has made BRICS ties even stronger.

America is still the only country to have used a nuclear weapon. I guess the occupants in Hiroshima and Nagasaki would have preferred to add something to the Japanese constitution than face an atomic bomb

I agree with you except for your last point.

No sovereign nation should be cowed through WAR by another nation as to what to put in their Constitution. Otherwise that's a laughable sovereignty.

Also Russia has Borders with Latvia & Estonia. And these countries are part of NATO. Why is Russia not invading them?
Well... Only the 5 permanent security council members have sovereignty. We all know that.

Lol... Easy tiger. Am not responsible for your frustrated existence.

I have a right to my opinion so air yours and move on.

Talking about Nigeria is another issue entirely I have always used this medium to air my opinion about Nigeria.

I think you have a problem with Russia but that's your cup of tea. You praised America when they took out your fellow African Gaddafi and turned Libya to a lawless society.

He doesn't need to fight nuclear weapon. Ukraine is ruined. It's just a matter of time Ukraine will cease to exist especially West Ukraine if they don't go for negotiated settlement. All those fake tears from Zelensky won't move anybody.

Remman:
The only power Russia have are ships firing missiles into Ukraine. Their troops' weapons are no match to the weapons of Ukraine troops. And their only sea power options are now on Ukraine's target list as they're easily sinking the ships detected. Putin is very lucky because Ukraine is only playing a defence game. What if they start taking the attack Moscow forcing Putin to use his only power (nuclear weapon which will also be another disappointment as the nukes won't work as expected just as their troops in Ukraine) and using the nuke would force the UN to declear war on Russia & that ends the war even though there may be huge losses on both sides, the war will end. The reason why Putin is claiming strong is because he's not a direct target yet, if a Putin's world war should start, Putin will end up running from one location to another for his own safety as UN forces will be taking the war to his doorstep. This means he'll be on the highest target list, which tragically means the end of him in jail or grave!
Well done... Military analyst. You think Russia is Iraqi or Libya. Satan 2 will level Europe first before they get to the Russian President.

That accounts for more than 88 percent of his people. I was the people of Ukraine that choose to fight not the west. Zelensky had a choice at the beginning of the war to flee to US but he chose to remain with his family in Ukraine.
The Ukrainians have chosen not to surrender, Love or hate them, lets still admire their courage.
Lol... Where did you get 88%?

Zelensky is fighting a lost war.

He wants Crimea back though, people in Crimea voted to stay under Russia. He wants to retain Donbass region though, those regions haven't been under Ukrainian rule since 2014.

Are these not madness?

And going against Russia a nation armed with over 10,000 nuclear warheads.

Foreign AffairsRe: Russia Gives Ukrainian Troops At Azovstal steel plant 4pm Today To Surrender by Johnrake69:

Any Ukrainian supporting Zelensky is an ignorant fellow

And going against Russia a nation armed with over 10,000 nuclear warheads.

Ukraine will be worst than Afghanistan and Iraq combined. And will spend the next century to repay debt.

The only realistic approach is to go for a negotiated settlement.

Let go of Crimea since the people in Crimea wants to remain with Russia.

Recognize Donbass region as an independent nation since they haven't been under Ukrainian rule since 2014.

NATO neutrality boldly written in their Constitution.

Mr Wike you can't fight insecurity in isolation. Bad economy fuels insecurity. The last time I heard Bokoharam pays it's members better than what Nigerian government pays it's security operatives.

Naira is in comma, inflation is hitting the rooftop and unemployment rate is at all time high.

May we never see this type of administration again. How can Emefiele and his cohorts ban an innovative industry currently worth about $2 trillion dollars in market capitalisation.

Indian, Brazil, US, Canada, Europe, South Africa, UAE, Singapore, Russia, Ukraine have all recognised the legitimacy of crypto currency and this good for nothing adminstration in a country that is home to 95M extremely poor people are here banning crypto.

Thankfully, Blockchain is here to stay. It's simply a matter of get in line or be left behind.

Well that is one perspective.

Another perspective is how much is all that going to cost and how much is the rail generating?
In other words is it a viable project?

It is tempting for politicians to produce these "infrastructure" toys but are we ready for them
ASUU is on strike and our young people are restless
I do not agree with these infrastructure "investment" at this time

Human development i.e education should be our priority
People bombing trains feel they are not stakeholders in Nigeria.
A military approach will entail more spending and might not work.

How do we make everyone feel they are stakeholders in the Nigerian project?
Imagine Amaechi request 3 billion . Does the train generate 3 billion? Where will the money come from?
So apt.

We have spent our scarce resources recklessly without recourse to carrying the masses along. The Nigerian project must be done by the Nigerian people.

Signing off Billions of dollars to Chinese people to come and build railway lines in this century is an insult to we Nigerians. Railway technology is ancient and I see no reason we keep signing off corruption induced contracts to private individuals when we're home to 95M extremely poor people.

The so called infrastructure who is going to maintain them? Operators of the rail are all Indians, Chinese and Lebanese. This is the reason the masses will continue to destroy them.

We have ministry of works with their highly skilled professionals under their employ but idle. Youth Unemployment is above 30%.

But we prefer to give out jobs to Chinese and Lebanese and pay them salaries of 20 Nigerians.

If we must move forward and develope our infrastructure it must be through public effort. Issuing out contracts for our critical infrastructure has never worked and it will never work. Our universities must become solution centres.

Norway is building world's first submerged floating tube bridge and the project is handled by Norwegian Public Roads Administration in collaboration with the 3 largest Norwegian Universities and alot of their PhD students have taken it up as part of their studies.

And to achieve this we must push out unpatriotic elements in the seat of power.

We're building infrastructure with no input from our universities. No wonder no body is bothered about the closure of our universities.

We deposit this in the bank. They should develop all the infrastructure while leaving 95M extremely poor people to survive by themselves and let's see if those infrastructure will still be standing in a few years.
