I and many agree with you bro, a sentence like the bold usually refer to the immediate person mentioned, and that Is Jesus Christ in this case.
John and other Bible writers show in many places like this one, that God and the Word is God as in John 1:1, the Spirit is needed to see them.

● Russell also taught leviathan is a locomotive and

In Genesis 1:1-2 they have changed the correct translation of " . . . the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters," to say " . . . and God's active force was moving to and fro over the surface of the waters."

They took out "Spirit of God" and put in "God's active force", because they don't believe that the Holy Spirit is alive.

We know that Jesus is God in flesh because the Bible tells us so.
