Foreign missions jobs are most importantly about experience cuz there's no time for training why? Most of those programs and activities has a life span all monies are budgeted within a time frame,take for instance a programme that has 6 months life span how do you get in a novice and train him or her? By the time you 're done traiming the programme would have ran out. Also lost of its terrain need locals who can converse with its people. All said and done don't lose hope. Keep applying especially in more dreaded areas of northeast but in major cities the competition is crazy probably you will be competing with people with many years experience.

Okay, you made valid points there. I expected more reactions to my frustration from Nairalanders, but I didn't see that happening, maybe they are cozy on status quo, or feel keeping quiet is the better choice.

I have 4yrs experience with a cyber cafe BUT I guess what they want more is someone who will give them less trouble adapting to their environment. Even at that, it's usually not easy to make a selection out of about 20+ finalists (if u know what I mean)
So be patient like I've been and yours will come through.

Sometimes I wonder if people are being taken by all these advertisements. I'm feeling a lot of discrimination could be going on particularly the foreign missions, NGOs jobs. They have been countless applications made that even when you feel confident about the application, you still get disappointed as no call or invitation is received after so much waiting. I just don't know what is going on really. I need people to come out and share experiences, to help my curiosity. I need information how these vacancies are filled up. What else is being used as criteria for selection other than the requirements or required competencies that the positions seek. And because of the large or deluge of applications received they have stated that they won't make any feed back as to why one was not selected or invited, and one can not make query trail on them.

Songs of Solomon was typically his life of romance in display and it's peculiar to him, not to be used as a pedestal for doing worldly things.

Yes, our God is omniscient, omnipresent and omnipotent. But He is principled, or He has principles. Know clearly that there is life and death for all actions done well and bad respectively. You have a conscience and free will to do what U like. Choose then and stop blaming God that He knew U will sin, and He didn't stop U from the act.

There is a price for everything. Life is not that somebody should live for U, as if U are just a figure without any contribution.

To him that know what is good and fail to do, it is sin. Stop attributing your laziness to God to keep U from sinning. But God knows our frailty, and that we are from dust, and he has opened the channel for repentance for us when we fail him, and he will graciously pardon. He does not want any to go to hell. Hell was created for the devil and his co labourers. If you don't do the right things, hell is waiting for you. Don't blame God please. Thanks.

Most, if not all, of us have a favourite song. Whether it's pop, rock, blues, jazz or classical, we can all agree that music contains a very strong element that moves our hearts, inspires us to be jolly or attempt new things, and at times makes us feel happy even when we're down.

For Christians, however, there's a common concern that arises every time music is played on the radio or in the bus station: can I listen to secular music and still be Christian? Honestly, Christians should consider when choosing where to be and which music they listen to.

1) Everything is permissible, but not beneficial

Paul said that all things are permitted, but not everything is good (1 Corinthians 6:12, 10:23). That's the same with secular music. Being a Christian doesn't mean thrashing the radio or asking the fast food crew to stop playing songs played by secular artists, but it does mean you should not listen to songs filled with ungodly lyrics.

While there are secular songs that sound good and bring good messages, there are many secular songs that encourage adultery, sexual lust, materialism, greed, hatred and bitterness, among other things. We should be careful what songs we listen to.

2) We must starve the flesh, feed the Spirit

Genuine Christ-followers know this: anything that would exalt the flesh and kill the spirit should be shut down in our lives. Whatever we feed grows healthy, and whatever we starve dies. Following this logic, we should instead choose to build up our spirit with praise instead of our flesh with soulish music.

James said, "is anyone cheerful? Let him sing Psalms." (see James 5:13) The Bible tells us that whenever any man or woman of God is happy, we should firstly sing praises unto the Lord.

Take for example David, who sang many songs of praise to the Lord (see book of Psalms). Or Mary, who sang to the Lord because He has looked down on the lowly (Luke 1:46-55). Or Moses, who sang to the Lord while his sister Miriam pulled the tambourine out and sang while dancing because of His deliverance (Exodus 15).

Think about it. Would you like to sing "Dorobucci" in front of Christ during your prayer time?

3) We shouldn't be yoked with unbelievers

"What has Christ in common with belial?" said Paul (see 2 Corinthians 6:14-16). Christians shouldn't behave like the world, and the area of music isn't exempted from this.

Some say that they only listen to secular music so that they can reach out to their friends, but honestly, you can still reach out without doing that. Christ did not behave like the world, yet He fulfilled His work of atoning for our sins and reconciling us to the Father.

STILL DRINKING AND CLUBBING AS A CHRISTIAN?

By socialising in clubs you do not bring people up to your level in Christ, they bring you down to their level in the world. A person cannot respect someone who is not fully committed to that which they profess to believe in.

I used to justify myself, by saying that I did not get drunk, and so I only drunk solf drinks. But the reality was I paid for alcoholic beverages which aided my friends (who did not attend church meetings) in getting drunk when it was my turn to pay for the round.

I would be sat at the bar, while across the room, other people were telling dirty jokes, getting drunk, taking the name of the Lord in vain and the next day I would hypocritically be in church, hands in the air, sing praises to Jesus. I called myself a Christian yet did not live up to the standards that God had set. My testimony was compromised on a daily, if not weekly basis, *I was leading weaker brethren into sin and I was supporting the Devil’s ministry. How you may ask?...

Firstly, by going to such establishments.
Secondly, at church talking about where I had been the night before, (thus encouraging those of age to visit a pub or club).
Thirdly, by inviting other Christians out for a drink.

As one preacher said, “Either act like a Christian or change your name to heathen!”

God states and declares, “Be holy in all your conduct...because it is written, 'be holy because I am holy'” (1 Peter 1:15-16) because, ‘without holiness, no man shall see the Lord’ (Hebrews 12:14), “Anything that is not righteous is sinful” which is in accord with 1 John 5:17, 'All unrighteousness is sin...

Not a set of rules

Then the fact that your roots is Yoruba but you resides in Edo state does not make U Edo also. But the surname of a person matters alot to his origin anyway.

Now the Akoko-Edo area up to owan axis are mostly migrants of Yoruba, the same can be said of some parts of Kogi state - Okun etc, and they are neighbours to Akoko LGA of Ondo State.

Finally, you are from where your state of origin in Nigeria says, not where your roots is from. So if you are Akoko-Edo by origin, you are from Edo state.

Ideal federalism is the best word actually and not the typical Nigerian form and calling It TRUE federalism. At the time it was agreed by Gowon in Aburi Ghana, the context was not understood for the depravity it will cause some parts of the country. The position the government took was to consolidate and strengthen the unity of the country, not a selfish one. However that was at the time and now many water has passed under the bridge. I agree to ideal federalism, as the comparative advantages of each area would have brought higher developments to the country. But what the agitators are asking for now to me very parochial and selfish, particularly the south south and south east brothers. They stem their agitations based on the fact of greed on what their areas can give each of their pockets. They don't mind if Sokoto state become like Sudan or a hungry looking nation. If U ask me, yes Nigeria is huge with multi dimensional issues that granting ideal federalism now will cause more problems. Hence the best is for people to come to National conferences to speak unending discourse all the time. No President after being elected democratically as being practiced would come up and divide the nation into regions and states as being called for. The structure does not and would not allow it. Let me stop here. Guess I have contributed something beauty?

I need some one to help me on this issue:
I was in a Church somewhere as a visitor, and the pastor was preaching on the Holy Communion which the scripture tagged the "Lord's Supper" he said. Now, he said being tagged the Lord's Supper means, it can only be administered or taken as from evening, precisely he mentioned as from 6pm and that anywhere it is taken in the morning, afternoon or any other time before supper time, believers should run away from such Church. To this I disagree. Yes I agree that in the Bible it was referred to as the Lord's Supper during his last moments with His disciples as the last supper and due to the timing of the persecution that was to start that night with Judas is cariot executing the betrayal plot. Was there anything anywhere to suggest that the holy communion must be taken at supper time only? The bible says as often as thou taketh it, you show the memory of the lord's death and rightly admonished that we should do it often.
