confirm if the policy you have, has an extension for flood damage. if it does, they cannot reject your claim. but check for that, before you proceed further.

Please oh for we non engineers, what is Newton's 3rd law

Tjayelbee:
Some of you are very funny and myopic!

Most of our institutions in the North are embodiment of character and learning. I pray you get into this same NNPC that you’re bitter about and see the representation of the Northerners that you think were ‘favored’ by federal character. You’d be shocked to the bones. Most of the high-fliers in most of the sets either in DPR or NNPC and her subsidiaries are of northern extraction. This is mostly simply because they have matched capacity with character. It is not by gra-gra or ‘baffing up’ or your so called exposure or even sharp practices. Noise as we know it, is made by empty drums. This same arrogance and low self confidence you display at every opportunity and instance will be your downcast identity if you ever get into the corporation.
We don’t buy certificates, we equally don’t forge it. Its either we have it or we don’t. We hold our 2.2s and 3s with pride because it’s the result of our input. So do we our 2.1s and 1st. It’s not a do or die thing for us.
Some years back, I remember an NNPC recruitment that the panelists discovered most 2.1 graduates of Geology from University of Maiduguri and ABU performed better than the very many 1st class graduates that came from the south, especially east! Not to boast or anything, in my masters class in the UK, there were instances we helped a lecturer with the Geology aspect of his course because he wasn’t a Geologist. Our colleagues from other parts had this same mentality you all are displaying at the very beginning of the programme year.. “these malo guys no sabi anything”. I promise you by the end of that program the difference was beyond clear. We had five DPR staff, 3 from the north, 2 from the west. Boy ol’boy, those guys were top notch. Even after so many years in the field, the Engineering that was still in them was just awesome. Aliyu was not very outspoken, perhaps you’d laugh at his accent, but that man was an all-rounder, damn. Abu was eloquent and top notch, those in the industry may know him because of unionism. Tola was quiet but he knew virtually everything. Great guys I tell you. I concluded that year that there really was merit in DPR recruitments.

You see, we are hardly the nagging or complaining type. We make do with what is at hand and forget what puts us in bewilderment. We don’t trouble our hearts. We have have alot of pointers to what we can say are our problems with the south and how they are also causing untoward hardship and embarrassments to the rest of Nigerians especially by their actions in the diaspora, but you don’t find us hampering on these things or castigating the whole region. Even in the north, we know that alot of easterners contribute to our woes.. kidnapping our children to the east, importing hard drugs and making fat cash in the north. The ones doing legitimate spare parts business have complete monopoly of the business, you dare not try to join in - we don’t any way cuz we’re happy with that balance. They easily own lands and mansions without any hassle because we believe they’re entitled to as long as they got the purchasing power. Can you dare do that in the east? Lot’s of you come for the 1 year NYSC and find it difficult to go back to your places, yet you insult us at the slightest instance. We have housed southern corpers in gov’t lodges, we have posted them to even the Government House, we have encouraged them to stay afterwards. Heck, we give appointments in Govt to southerners who have stayed with us for long. This is the kind of energy we expect in return, or at worst bear with us as we grow.
Now what will shock you the most is the South can only say they are educationally ahead of the North statistically i.e percentage-wise. But in terms of sheer numbers it’s insane to think that the North is behind. This is not unrelated to our population vis-a-viz the current aggressive drive for education, Although much more needs to done. We have issues, there’s no denying. The West is one and only region that is holistically education-driven, and they put it to good use. They form part of the network that salvage the image of the country in the diaspora.. y’know Professors in various fields and some even serve in foreign governments.
Economic status of the North and Northerners that is generally overlooked by mainstream statistical indices is a topic for another day.

In essence, let’s respect ourselves and our differences. I am sorry for derailing this thread but it’s a result of Newton’s 3rd law.

Peace!

In the end this exercise would end in a way that will shock most of us here.

I'm usually a very good judge of character n during the lunch break there were some utterances made to us waiting interviewees by that individual that just writes n writes while ur being interviewed.

Something just tells me that should this interview drive onto finality a large number of us will be so shocked we will all go back to edit all these things we r spewing here for the sake of trying to sound like we know the goings-on about this process whole or part.

@Jarus let us know when ur supervisor friend comes through, cos if I remember properly he predicted the time wen interview mails will b sent with 98% accuracy, as far as part m concerned ur info is d only one I believe.

I never paid a bribe to get where I am today, I don't intend to start now.

Had mine on 4th as well, but saw alot of my lagos colleagues there in other panels, while the 4 of us waiting all EH though were from lagos and from divergent parts as well.

Can we stop trying hard to crack this thing unless we just want to use it to pass time while waiting on the APL's.

I remember the dude who referred me in, after my interview (which he actually sat in, though at a corner) he escorted me to the stairs congratulated me and wished me all the best. I whined the guy to give me his contact, but he refused saying he cant as there were cameras every where and he will be reprimanded, so i gave him my business card; but he never reached out to me.

Have pleaded before and plead again, please if you do not have verified info from a solid source, can we just wait patiently; cos e get as this theories wey we de draw up go make NNPC vex tell u say them no do again. I have been to Total E&P and Forte Oil interview panels and some of them just died out with out any further communications after the conclusion of the interview. Let us all be guided please.

And then they brought in emotional intelligence questions, and I opened a cozy lecture hall for them and they were grateful.

Actually this is my first post on nairaland,I'm a comment reader and a post reader and I have observed how people do things here and I feel I should share my story, please don't criticise me or anything, I just need your help or advise, and please do read carefully to understand, and i am also sorry if i dont type this well,i'm not much of a writer. Thanks in advance

There's this guy I met at 3chub Ikeja,I actually went to ask if there was any standard rechargeable fan because i have been scammed alot by all these "fairly used" rechargeable fan,so i decided to buy a new one because they sell home appliances there, even though people say fairly used items are better which I chose to decline because this is 2016,and this buhari regime doesnt accomodate an extravagant spending.

I work in Lagos but I stay in mowe, and the electricity there isn't too good so that's why I'm getting the fan so even when the gen is off,i would have an alternative,so when I got to the store, the sales ambassadors offered me different brand rechargeable fan,but i later got a syinix rechargeable fan, because I was impressed with the number of months the warranty covers so I purchased it with my ATM card since I just came to inquire and not buy and I was cashless,I had to just use the POS *I'm only explaining all if these to give you a clearer understanding of the issue on floor*

After purchasing the fan, there was this guy that came to buy a gas cooker and we happened to meet and we both exchanged contacts with eachother and few months later we developed feelings and we had a relationship and we were doing the normal relationship vibe, until this week,he started acting up because I said no sex until marriage...he's a very nice person anyway,he helped me in so many ways(advices, financially, physically) but just because I said no sex until marriage,he's acting up already, although I have my reasons for abstaining until marriage anyway but my story is sad,and I don't know who to tell and I feel more comfortable telling people online because someone that knows me physically might not say the truth to me,because they don't want to hurt me,please I need matured comments even if it will hurt, just tell me

Although we aren't kids, but I'm just troubled because I love him a lot and I don't know what to do.

I'm a loner right now sad

Hey op, u must learn to communicate in relationships. Don't just assume that he understands. Take home out on a cool weekend maybe wen u jus collect salary and explain why ur doing d thing what ur doing and if possible u can practise how to make a man cum without actually having sex. Trust me if u heed both ur man go love u even more.

U seem to have a bag of cash on u. As u appear comfortable doling out 50,000 naira for only consultancy. I got a house in two days of search n my choice area of abode. U better get serious about d search or jus extend ur rent n jejely look for house at a later date.
easrael:
You Think Its Easy to Live in Lagos, Read my House Hunt Experience story

Mid April, my rent expired and I had three weeks to move out of my apartment. I had so much confidence to get an apartment in two weeks to move into. Little did I know I was being set up for a battle between the body, soul and spirit.

I did make a few calls in about three days to my friends and family members. This calls yielded little or nothing support as regards my assignment.

The only fruit it yielded was a 3 million p.a apartment in the innermost part of Lekki. As glad as I was about this fruit, tge distance from the Lekki phase 1 gate to my supposed new place of abode is not different from the distance between heaven and hell.

With all sense of modesty, I declined staying here. I finally settled to use a house agent which seems to be an advise a female friend gave me from work.

After contacting 10 of them via phone and paying them 5,000 each, one week and 2 days has past and I still do not have a place yet!

I, in my naivety assumed that I woukd get an apartment after paying that money. I did not know like doctors, it was just for consultancy. I kept faith in God, having had the Christian background.

It was now two weeks past and on Sunday of the last week of my relocation notice. I finally got calls from 3 of my agents who showed me 5 different places (2 in Ikoyi, 1 in Festac and 2 in Lekki). Let me say at this point thay I was open to any location.

I wanted to move from a low brow are to a high brow are and these three were well suited. I could have accepted any of them! Yes, I should. But, I did not.

I slept after these calls and had a dream about me not progressing in these houses if I lived in them. On waking up, i could do nothing other than cancel the offers.

At this point, 3 of the turned up agents declined further service. They insisted I pay another N5,000 for consultancy. Iwas grieved at this point!

I have just few days left of the three weeks notice, precisely two days. I am now desperate and began to search online. My first stop was a website that offered such services, tolet.com.ng (apologies for mentioning your name if you ever read this). My experience was short lived as I started putting down this thoughts.

I have 48 hours to go and I have 2 useful agents and this website to deal with.

Getting accommodation in Lagos is no doubt a task for the faint hearted.

They visited them with POS machines and moved from flat to flat, demanding you make transactions into their account at gunpoint. Once the transaction pulls through, they take your cards, record your pin and they are off to the next flat.

In this way, they drained virtually all the cash in his 3 accounts over the weekend.

What a pathetic story, please sew them to the last penny and make sure they do not recover from any insurance they might have, so that the hurt Will cost them the hospital.
AbuEzeFemi:
My husband called me at about 6:40 AM, Friday the 21st of November 2014, from work. He asked me to come and pick him up, that he was not feeling too good. I left with the driver to get him. When I got there, he was too uncomfortable, and he asked me to take him home. But on our way home, I noticed that he was in pains, so I asked the driver to reverse the car and head instead to the hospital (St. Nicholas Hospital in Lagos).
On reaching there, we met Judith, the receptionist. I asked if there was a Doctor around. This was around 7 PM. She said yes and after some time we were asked to go into Room 2. Right there we met a young Doctor called Dr. Ogidigben Kevwe. He asked a few questions that I answered while my husband was wallowing in pains. He (Kevwe) opened an emergency file because according to him, my husband’s file was locked up in Dr. Bamgboye’s office, and no one has access to that office. I told Dr. Kevwe that my husband had incisional hernia surgery done a few months back at the same hospital, August to be precise and it was performed by one Dr. Mohan an India man, and Dr. Balogun at St. Nicholas Hospital. He started to examine him. He then left us in his office and said he was coming back.

He came back after some minutes and said he was trying to reach Dr. Balogun from the reception, but he is not getting through. So I used my husband’s phone and dialed Balogun and got through. At this point, I gave the phone to Dr. Kevwe, and he started explaining to Dr. Balogun, what he thought was the problem. Balogun on the other end asked if my husband was in pains, and Kevwe said yes. Dr. Kevwe told Dr. Balogun that he was suspecting intestinal obstruction. Dr. Balogun asked if there was any swelling around where the incision was done, but Dr.Kevwe said no. Balogun asked if there was any reddish sign around the same area, and Kevwe said no. So Dr. Kevwe suggested giving him antibiotics, but Balogun said that they have to be careful what they give him, since he is a post kidney transplant patient. Balogun asked them to give him a particular injection twice to ease the pains, and he said that they should observe him till the next morning. So I left to go get him what he had asked for (his tea and his stockings). On my way around Bonny Camp, I got a call from a strange number, when I picked up; it was Dr. Kevwe, on the other end. He asked me to turn back to come pick up my husband, and I asked why?

He (Kevwe) said that my Husband is feeling much better, and wants to go home. I asked the driver to reverse and head back to the hospital. And on getting there, I went in and asked the Dr. again why he wants me to take him home. He repeated once again that he feels much better and I asked Kevwe if he was asking me to take him home because he thinks he feels better or that the hospital doesn’t have a bed for him. I asked this because the nurse had mentioned earlier that she needed to check for bed space. Kevwe at this point told me that my Husband would be fine, he asked me to take my Husband home and bring him the following morning. Meanwhile, before then, Kewe wrote a prescription of drugs for my husband which I took to the pharmacist and when the lady there saw it, she asked which Dr. I saw. I told her that it was Dr. Kewe. She moved over to the other side and called the Dr’s office. They both argued about the drug that he wrote, she then gave me just1 tablet of Exforge. When my husband got up from the hospital bed, he staggered and I held him and asked if he’s fine. The Dr. said that it’s the injection that was given to him that he would be fine. So I took him home.

We got home. And just about 15minutes after, my husband said he felt like throwing up. I brought a bowl to him, and he vomited, and he felt a bit better. He slept for some time and got up in excruciating pain.
Immediately I jumped into my clothes and then called Dr. Balogun, to say that we are on our way back to the hospital. He said no problem that the doctor will be waiting for me. I asked, which doctor? And he said the doctor is their senior surgeon by the name Dr. Fadiran. Balogun said that Dr. Fadiran was the doctor on call. We got to the hospital in less than 20 minutes; my husband came down from the car himself. He walked into the hospital by himself before he was wheeled into the ER. Then came Dr. Kevwe, and I asked him about the senior surgeon, and he told me that he would be coming very soon. I wasn’t too happy with that, as I had mentioned to Dr. Balogun that my husband was in serious pains. I expected to see a consultant like he said. Kevwe started by
trying to put him on a drip that took forever, as he was unable to successfully get his veins while my husband was languishing in pain.

My husband kept telling them (DR. Kevwe and the nurse) that he wants to throw up or use the restroom, and he would be fine. He kept saying that if he throws up he will be fine. Meanwhile, Dr. Kevwe was taking instructions on the phone from Dr. Fadiran. This was when I asked when the Dr. would come. I kept asking, “when will the doctor come?” And Dr. Kevwe said Dr. Fadiran asked him to get my entire husband’s information. DR. Kevwe told me that they are
waiting for the Radiologist and the Anesthesiologist, and none of these people showed up.

My husband kept on saying that he wants to throw up. But then, Dr. Kevwe asked the nurse to give him an injection, I asked what the injection was for? And he said it will stop him from vomiting. He became so uncomfortable and was losing his breath. They put him on oxygen, but I guess he was already choking.

Meanwhile, Kevwe was still taking instructions from Dr. Fadiran on the phone. At this time, he started gasping for air. Meanwhile, before then, another doctor showed up. I don’t know his name, but he’s average in height and dark complexioned. He inserted a suction tube into his mouth, but I guess he was two hours or more late with that. Because if that was done when I brought him to the hospital that morning, he would have been here with me today.

If Dr. Fadiran were at the hospital, even after he was told that it was an emergency; my husband would have been here with me. If the anesthesiologist was at the hospital, he probably would have been here with me. If the radiologist were around on that morning to at least see what was happening inside of him, he probably would have been here with me. If Dr. Kevwe knew exactly what he was doing that morning without taking instructions from Dr. Fadiran on the phone, with an emergency case right in front of him, my husband would have been here. My husband died of total negligence on the part of St. Nicholas Hospital, and I know it. Like I said earlier, the doctor was 2 hours plus late with the suction, because, at this time, the nurse was already calling my husband’s name, shouting “Mr. Charles, Mr. Charles!” He was given four adrenaline injections. The drip wasn’t going at all, all this while lest I forget. I watched my husband struggled to breath. I watched him fight for his life, and I was right there when he died. And even though they were busy with CPR, I knew when he passed on because immediately he stopped struggling, fluid started gushing out of his mouth and nose, I knew that was it. That was the same fluid that was choking him. If there were a senior consultant or surgeon at the hospital as at when I brought him, he probably, would have been helped. In between all this, Dr. Kevwe at a time said to Dr. Fadiran on the phone that he should come now as the patient is in a critical condition. He said to the same Dr. Fadiran that 11 O’clock might be too
late. I brought my husband at about 6 AM to St. Nicholas Hospital and he died at about 9.30AM without receiving prompt and adequate care.

Human life cannot continue to be lost soo cheaply in Nigerian Hospital, people must be made to account for their actions as professionals hence I have contacted my Lawyers to investigate the cause of death as he has died with our dreams, aspirations, and vision and planned future together.
