We all know about the age-long beef about the superiority of Ghanaian Jollof and Nigerian Jollof, and the how Nigeria's Minister for Information, Lai Mohammed goofed last weekend, when asked by CNN's Richard about the African country that makes the best Jollof rce.

Nigeria's Vice President Yem Osinbajo today weighed in on the forever lingering battle of which Jollof Rice in the continent is the best. Osinbajo who spoke today at the Platform Nigeria, a church based programme in Lagos today, disclosed that Nigerians make the best Jollof rice and that we beat Ghana and Senegal to it hands down. He also talked about Dino Melaye's hit track, Ajeku Iyani.

An excited Nigerian woman, Lola Ayetigbo, who was a guest on Ryan Tubridy's Late Late Show on Saturday night after being sworn in as an Irish citizen alongside 3,000 others, in a special ceremony held in Dublin’s Convention Centre on Friday, April 28, disclosed that she she came to Ireland so that her children could have better opportunities. She also told the tragic story of her late son, Shetemi who died aged 16 from SADS.


Ms Ayetigbo who was hosted alongside other new citizens on the show, spoke of her local community in Donabate, Dublin rallied around her and her family in the aftermath of her son’s death and helped them get through the tough times.

Mrs. Titilayo Shodipo, a teacher who was allegedly killed by her husband, was three months pregnant, neighbours have said. Titilayo and her husband, Omolaja, had been married for over seven years and had 4 children together. .

It was reported that the relationship was fraught with disagreements, which often resulted in fights. It was said that Titilayo, who was said to be a choir mistress at a parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, however, refused to quit the marriage.

According to Punchng, residents stated that on the said day, there was another disagreement between the couple, during which her husband beat and stabbed her with a sharp object a and fled their house in Ikorodu. The family of Titilayo, have said the suspect might have killed her for a an evil purpose.

Her mother, Maria Ahinaje, called on the police authorities and the state government to arrest the suspect and bring him to justice. The family of the deceased on Friday said that they had asked Titilayo to quit the relationship but she refused because of her children.

Her mother, Maria, alleged that Omolaja was a drunk and an absentee father, adding that they were the reasons for most of their disagreements. She said, “My daughter endured seven years of hardship and pain. When they started their relationship, I told her not to marry him, but she said she loved him.

When they got married, he started beating her on a regular basis. He drank a lot and had extra-marital affairs. He would buy little foodstuffs for the family and when the food is exhausted, my daughter and her four children would start begging for food on the street.

Most times, I had to send them foodstuffs and send money into her account for them to survive. I stopped going to their house three years ago because my daughter told her husband bad things about me, saying I didn’t encourage their union. .

Because of that, the man started misbehaving towards me." The state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole, said investigations were ongoing, adding that the command was still searching for Omolaja.

A 10-year-old boy, Fawaz, who was accused of stealing was reportedly brutalized by her Mum's sister, Mama Arafa, who used a hot iron on him. According to the lady who shared the story, the boy's aunt lives in Naibawa, Kano.

Before the viral report of the assault that has reportedly crashed Nollywood actress, Mercy Aigbe's marriage, it was reported back in April 2013, that Mercy Aigbe's husband Lanre Gentry allegedly dragged her out of a hotel room into his car, after battering her at an event.

The couple later did a video, debunking the report and alleging that all that was reported was false, even when Mercy's swollen eye was visible in the video. But with the cryptic message the actress posted on her Instagram page, amidst the assault and marriage crash report, it seems she has had enough.

Three Ghanaian lawmakers and a former lawmaker of visa fraud, have been accused by British authorities of visa fraud, saying the men abused their diplomatic privileges to help people travel to Britain.

Jon Benjamin, the British high commissioner to Ghana, described the men’s behavior as “completely unacceptable” and said that in some cases, “these behaviors may arguably be criminal in nature.” His complaints were made in a letter to Ghana’s speaker of Parliament that was leaked to the news media on Wednesday.

The men were accused of falsifying visa documents and helping secure travel documents for family members who overstayed their visas. Each man faces a 10-year travel ban to Britain, according to the British authorities.

Some African political and business leaders have received attention for long
vacations in Europe. Some also send their children to elite schools there or travel for medical and cosmetic treatments.

One of the legislators cited in Mr. Benjamin’s complaint, Richard Acheampong, is accused of securing a visa for a woman he said was his wife, saying she was to accompany him for a two-week vacation in Britain. The High Commission said the woman was still in Britain. Mr. Acheampong has not offered information to help authorities track her, according to British officials.

The letter also asserts that another member of Parliament, Joseph Benhazin Dahah, initially applied for visas for a wife and niece, but when the application for his niece was denied, he applied to the Republic of Ireland from another country, changing the name of his wife and claiming the person he originally identified as his niece was his daughter.

A third member of Parliament, Johnson Kwaku Adu, traveled to Britain last July with his wife and 16-year-old daughter for what was supposed to be a two-week vacation. He returned to Ghana after just two days, but his wife and daughter are apparently still in Britain. The High Commission has accused him of facilitating the transport of a minor who cannot be traced.

The former member of Parliament, George Boakye, has been accused of securing a visa for his daughter, who overstayed her visa for more than three years but was forced to return after the British authorities intervened.

Visa fraud is common in West Africa, where citizens pay huge sums of money to people claiming to be visa contractors who can help them acquire visas to Europe and the United States. Some even sell their homes to pay middlemen, who disappear with the cash.

Ghanaian authorities in Accra, the capital, broke up a criminal ring last summer, arresting three men and seizing about 135 fake passports from 10 countries.

“Looking at the quantity of passports we got from them, a lot of people have suffered from their hands,” said Timothy Yoosa Bonga, an assistant police commissioner in Accra, in a recent interview.

Ghana’s minister of foreign affairs described the fraud accusations as “very serious allegations and unfortunate.” She said she would act on the findings once the speaker of the Parliament decided what to do.

It is possible law enforcement authorities will become involved, said Kate Addo, a spokeswoman for Ghana’s Parliament.

The scandal has stirred outrage among some Ghanaians and dominated the headlines here.

“These M.P.s always bring shame to this country,” said Kwesi Dei, a resident in Accra. “They are paid very well, so it amazes me that some greedy ones are actually involved in visa fraud. The law should deal with them.”

A Nigerian man has taken to Instagram, @Skinnochi, to blast a South African delivery company, 'netflorist', of having a xenophobic agenda against Nigerians.

According to Skinnochi, he ordered for a bottle of champagne and flowers from the company, but got a reply of they not being comfortable selling to him, even after he had submitted his I.D and proof of address.

The Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, stormed Federal High Court 4, Abuja, in solidarity with IPOB Leader, Nnamdi K​anu,​ who was arraigned before Justice Nyako.

Daily Post reports that Kanu, through his defence counsels led by Ifeanyi Ejiofor, asked the court to set aside the order made on December 13, 2016 for the protection of witnesses.

Kanu’s lawyers argued that having been acquitted of the charges of terrorism and importation of weapons, the defendants cannot be tried with the identities of witnesses based on section 36(6) of the 1999 Constitution.

The Biafran has however, been granted bail on health ground. Nnamdi Kanu is also expected to provide three sureties one of who must be a serving senator, a
jewish religious leader and highly respected person, and must own a land in anywhere in Abuja The bail bond is N100 million for each surety.

He was also ordered never to grant any press interview pending the outcome of his trial He will not be in a gathering of more than 10 persons The judge on the matter Justice Binta Nyako said Kanu's bail will be revoked if any of the orders are flouted.

However, the other accused persons were denied bail. According to the judge, treasonable felony - the charges against them is a serious offence against the state. Also, the judge refused the application by Kanu to vary her previous order on protecting witnesses in the matter.

There was also a mild drama at the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court this morning, as security operatives, barred former Minister of Aviation, Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode, from entering inside the court scheduled to deliver ruling on whether the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, should be released on bail.

Coming after the arrest of the South Africa based Nigerian Pastor, Tim Omotosho, for molesting more than 30 girls in his church went viral, one of his church members has taken to social media to warn South Africa of the "biggest natural disaster" that awaits them, for arresting 58-year-old flamboyant evangelist.


It should be recalled that Pastor Tim, who has churches in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Bloemfontein, among others, was arrested at the Port Elizabeth Airport on Thursday, for allegedly trafficking more than 30 girls and women, who were from various branches of his church to a house in Umhlanga, KwaZulu-Natal where he allegedly sexually exploited them. The Pastor who went into hiding and destroying the 3 lines linked to him before his arrest, appeared in court on Friday but was denied bail.

Tragedy struck at a viewing center in Calabar, as it was gathered that almost 30 people are dead as a result of the high tension cable that fell on the viewing centre made cf zinc, during the UEFA Europa League quarter-final match between Manchester United and Anderlecht on satellite television.

The match however, ended in favour of Manchester United, who won the match on a 3-2 aggregate, with Marcus Rashford netting the winner in the 107th minute.

Just when we thought Apostle Suleiman vs. Stephanie Otobo romance scandal is dying down, we've gotten another shocker. Stephanie Otobo, who is at the center of the scandal with the Benin Based Pastor, has dragged Apostle Suleiman to a court in Ontario, Canada, in a $5Million lawsuit.

The lawsuit letter dated dated April 19 2017 with case file number CV-17-573595, signed by Registrar of the Ontario Superior Court and addressed to Apostle Suleman’s Ontario residence, posited that Otobo has filed a lawsuit, claiming Canadian $5milion for damages resulting from breach of trust, breach of fiduciary relations, breach of contract, negligence, defamation, poisoning, intentional and negligent infliction of emotional stress, forcible confinement, multiple instances of battery, false imprisonment, fraud, assaults, sexual assaults, sexual harassments, harassments and malicious prosecution.

It also revealed Otobo’s status at the time as a refugee in Suleman’s care, after which Otobo had been invited by Suleman to Italy and other European countries in continuation of the grooming, whereupon an amorous relationship had developed between both parties, resulting from psychological programming sessions during the grooming periods.

It further revealed that Suleman had invited Otobo to his church in Nigeria in the summer of 2015, whereupon they had sexual relationship that resulted in pregnancy by August 2015.

Following the assassination attempt by gunmen who stormed his house in Kogi State, in the early hours of Saturday, Dino Melaye and his cousins, his parents, siblings yesterday all stormed The Apostlic church at Aiyetoro Gbede, Kogi State, to thank God for sparing his life.

The Senator even rolled on the floor to thank God, for saving him on Saturday, when about 10 men stormed his Kogi home and rained bullets into
the house, destroying cars and other things.

Nigerian singer and Johnny crooner , Yemi Alade, has expressed how being from the Yoruba tribe and at the same time from an Igbo tribe has helped her career.

In the short chat with Sunday Scoop, she disclosed that it has been a plus and has helped her connect easily.

“You cannot underestimate the importance and role of tribes in Nigeria as it is taken very seriously. I am very proud of my heritage as an African and I try to portray in every way that I can and everywhere I go.

Being partly Yoruba and Igbo is a big plus for me as it has helped me to connect with both cultures. However, I believe that both cultures are inextricably intertwined because they share a lot of similarities,” she said.

Yemi also stated that her first hit, Johnny was released by mistake.

She said, “I was in the studio with Selebobo and we were just goofing around trying to come up with a nice sound. The first line for the song just came out playfully and I continued. I never thought that it would become a hit and if not that the song was leaked, I may never have released it.”

The church was founded by Guy Emile Loufoua Cetikouabo, who proclaimed himself God, and claims to be invisible by his followers. He is represented on earth by the current leader of the church called Charles Mikoungui Loundou.

“What we want to share with the world, is that we found a person who has the three characteristics of God, omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient. That man is Guy Emile loufoua Cetikouabo. He was born without a navel, and that defies science,” a church member, Charles Mikoungui Loundou said.

This church bases its doctrine on the consumption of beer which they believe can be used to cleanse evil spirits. The faithful call this mixture of beer and faith, “biéramicine”.
Services which last up to 9 hours are dedicated to the healing of souls and bodies with sips of beer and praise. People come from all walks of life mainly to seek an immediate solution to all their evils.

“I arrived here sick, brother Mikoungui gave me a bottle of beer, I drank a first sip, and a second, at the third one, I went into a trance, I then felt better,” a believer, Kondi Jean- Jacques, confessed.

“I believe beer can heal, if you drink it with faith”
he added.

Today, about 5,000 people attend this church that stretches across the country.
Its popularity in the Congolese society is increasingly growing, with authorities seemingly unable to control its activities.
