Did he try to upgrade the existing infrastructure in the school to compete with other similar school world wide? The problem is not in name but in the adequate investment. What is the ranking of the universities and polytechnics in Imo state before he became governor and what is there ranking now in Nigeria.Have the polytechnics achieved the objectives for which they were set up? We should discourage cosmetic solution like name changing, motivated by insincere politics and focus on delivering quality education to Imolites and Nigerians.

Visit most polytechnics and universities in Nigeria , some government secondary schools are more equipped in terms of facilities !

A school that is not fully balanced as a polytechnic , is upgraded to a university , all in the name of achievement listings , and conferring positions , Yaba college of technology for instance, even tho it's been paraded , as the best polytechnic in Nigeria and on several occasions has been poised to assume a university of technology status , it still remains a polytechnic ...
polytechnics and universities serve different purposes , and if not for the Inferiority complex amongst Nigerian students , no one is above the other , if every polytechnic is been upgraded to a university how will the students ,who wish to attend polytechnic cope , we have enough universities already , govt should work on improving the ones on ground , not creating new ones from struggling polytechnics !
