Who counted the numbers of soldier? |
Our democracy never mature reach like that. I think impeachment can only end the governorship level now in Nigeria. Not the presidency. samonak: |
Of late you have always been on the other side of justice Oga Falana SAN. Same thing you said of Osun Election Tribunal kangaroo judgement. Same thing you’re saying here again. Imagine the useless judgment they gave in favour of Lawan and Akpabio. People that never participated in an election suddenly became the winner after doing highest bidder shopping at the Supreme Court market. What is such judgement trying to achieve if not anarchy. Your likes were mute. This Supreme Court is becoming a joke this days and only breeding lack of trust and justice. Like Jafaar said the other day, the Supreme Court is now the lost hope of the common. The joke are on all of you. |
I totally agree with you. Seems you’re on ground. Gracious3105: |
Says someone that is not on ground. From my analysis you should know I am on ground. If LP does not put machinery in place to check mate vote buying and dubious party agents they will lose. And I don’t see Oshiomole losing his senatorial seat in Edo North or APC losing their presidential election there too. Inspite of the fact that the current deputy Governor is from there. Obaseki lost Edo North because of Oshiomole. He is on ground there and he is loved. Feb 25th is just few days away Note: i am not a fan of Oshiomole and Hope Tinubu lose but my dislike won’t stop me from facing reality and not just mere wishful thinking. 9jahotblog: |
Overall votes in the whole of edo state for the presidential elections? I don’t have the crystal balls for speculate the exact figures. But here is what I know. Obi of the LP is very popular especially in Edo south where you have the largest numbers of voters in Edo state. Similar thing I’m Edo Central he is also fairly popular. For Edo North he may be popular but this won’t translate to winning in this region. Overall, if Peter Obi of Labour Party can tame vote buying he will win Edo south and central convincingly with a landslide. But I can’t say the same thing for Edo North. Because Adams Oshiomole is loved here. He was able to garner winning votes for Pastor Osagie in the last election when he was not on the ballot. But na Adams is on the ballot contesting for senatorial seat and election that comes the same day with the presidential elections. If Peter Obi can’t tame vote buying or be able to match both APC and PDP with vote buying on elections day in Edo South and Edo Central he may still win but with a close/equal margin with PDP and APC. If he does not put measures in place to check mate massive vote buying by PDP and APC he has disloyal dubious party agents he will lose. That is when people will na start screaming rigging rigging not knowing that people have sold their votes. Inspite of how very popular and the frenzy of Adeleke was in Osun, Oyetola still garnered good numbers of votes. From the way Adeleke locked that Osun I never expected Oyetola to have upto 100k votes but the reverse is the case. Similar thing might be playing out to labor party on Election Day. Obi is very popular and projected to win only if can take massive vote buying and corrupt/dubious party agents that will sell out to opposition parties and turn a blind eye to all the games that will be played at the polling units. Elections are won and lost at the polling units. ImmaculateJOE: |
This is where APC is gonna get most of their votes from in Edo because here is their strong hold. I see Adams winning his senatorial seat here flogging Alemekhina of the PDP. The current PDP candidate just recently decamped from APC having lost the party primary to Adams. He knows he can’t win Adams Oshiomole but Philip Shaibu engineered his defection to the PDP for alignment against EDO state 2024 governorship elections. The first hurdles has been scaled by Obaseki-Philip Shaibu camp has Supreme Court has finally recognized their faction as the authentic leaders of the edo state PDP. Edo state 2024 electioneering has just started. |
It seems Tinubu APC led has stopped spending money to mobilize crowd for their rallies and instead save up for the actual vote buying on Election Day. Because they know the rigging is gonna be via vote buying especially in polling units and wards pf weakness. The election is gonna be marred with massive vote buying and inducement. All the major political parties are gonna involved in this and the highest bidder will carry the polling units. Some of those smaller political parties agents will sell out to the bigger and more entrenched parties on Election Day. This where the rigging will be done - the polling units and it’s largely gonna be via massive vote buying. |
No smoke without fire. A deputy governor decamping to another party few days to elections even when he is said to be contesting a senatorial position as well because of N3.7B ($5m X N740) that he will be sharing with his principal and other vested interests who facilitated the defection? A whole sitting deputy governor with all and sundry benefits even after his tenure expires? What if he is impeached thereafter by his former party and lose all his future benefits as former deputy governor? How does Nigeria politicians even make their political calculates sef? What if APC or Tinubu wins and he is betrayed after he might have been impeached? Just thinking aloud. Naija politics go humble you. Chia |
Ortom senatorial ambition and his PDP candidate governorship candidates are on the line. It will be very foolish of him to work against the PDP NWC. A United benue PDP will have a hard time fighting APC because i learnt it’s governorship candidate is popular. |
In as much I won’t be voting APC. Truth be told the division and fragmentation of the 2019 opposition will give APC the win. A divided house can not stand together to achieve a common front. loosecanon50: |
Let see how this goes after Feb 25th general elections. clevetom99: |
We shall see how this goes luckybliss: |
Thank you. I have corrected it now updatechange: |
Thank you, I have corrected that Boyewu: |
1. CHANGE political mantra. This was used by the APC to wrestle power from the PDP in 2015. 2. OTOGEE this was used by APC to wrestle power from PDP in kwara state. 3. EDO NOR BE LAGOS. This was used by Obaseki team of PDP to fight Oshiomole and Tinubu to win his re-election in 2020. Add yours pls. |
Honestly speaking Edo nor want use hear anything Obi. They can fight (literally) anyone who says otherwise. Obi is greatly loved here. And if he can tame vote buying of the two major political parties he could win Edo state. Outside the presidential elections, others (senate and house of reps) will lose. Most of the candidates are not popular and not doing aggressive campaigns. Just banking on Obidient mantra. They think it will translate into votes for them. I just pity them. temitope27: |
I don’t think Omosede has ever decamped. He was a former house of Rep member of Ovia but was unable to return after Denco of APC flogged her at the polls. During the last governorship election, Omosede PDP worked for Obaseki and not Izeyamu of APC. mrsmith11: |
Meaning all those projects he has been commissioning of late are staged. Because he seems to have intensified effort in commissioning of projects lately and many of his supporters on Facebook are massively promoting it. People say he allegedly rigged his way in during the first term as he was in Obaseki camp then. And APC being in power during Obaseki first gave Denco that edge over Omosede of PDP. Denco house In GRA is very close to mine and I heard lots of people alleging that his election during the first term was massively rigged. DonNeon: |
Truth! Especially Edo South predominately the Binis and Edo Central predominately the Esan people. But Edo North is always the opposite. APC has strong hold here. Advocate500: |
It seems Denco of APC has locked down Ovia and might be returning because he seems more popular and many are saying he actually performed this first term. He might be be beating Omosede of PDP again. |

I keep wondering why Dan Orbih has now perpetually made Rivers State is home. Anytime you see Wike, you will see him there. Let him come back home and unite with other is his party members and move forward. How can him and Wike be thinking of being the PDP party leader of the state? Something Wike can not take? A governor is automatically the leader of a party of the state. |
Yes he has been lucky. How he managed to survive the political war that would have consumed many inexperienced politicians like him still surprised me. From Oshiomole and Tinubu forces to Dan Orbih and Wike forces; all baffling For governance he is doing his best although he needs to work more on infrastructure especially roads. Other areas he has been good. yinkus6750: |
The Supreme Court on Wednesday gave recognition to a faction belonging to Governor Godwin Obaseki as the authentic candidates of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming general elections. Both Governor Obaseki and a National Vice Chairman of the PDP, Chief Dan Orbih have been locked in a leadership battle for the soul of the party in Edo State. But the apex court in its judgment delivered by Justice Centus Nweze, dismissed the appeal on the grounds that it was incompetent. According to the judgment, an appeal must be based on issues contended at the lower court to qualify for review. “Any ground of appeal that does not challenge issues raised at the lower court is incompetent. I enter judgment in favour of the respondents “, the apex court held. Speaking with journalists, shortly after the judgment was delivered, Shuaibu was in court to witness the proceedings and expressed joy that the matter has been finally put to rest. He called on all PDP members to join hands to deliver for the party in all the elections, stating that there is no winner or loser as the victory is for the PDP. Shuaibu in urging aggrieved parties to embrace peace said that the umbrella is now widen to accommodate all. Recall that a Federal High Court in Benin-city, Edo State, had ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise and publish the names of candidates produced by Obaseki’s faction as PDP’s candidates in the 2023 elections. Earlier, Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja, in a related suit ordered INEC to recognise the candidates of Chief Dan Orbih faction as authentic candidates of the PDP for the forthcoming elections. The parties in their various suits had asked the court for an order compelling INEC, to publish their names as the validly elected candidates of the Edo State PDP for the 2023 general election. In his judgment, Justice S. M. Shuaibu of the Federal High Court, Benin, relying on past decisions by the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal, held that only the National Working Committee (NWC) of a political party has the power to conduct party primaries. According to him, “There is nothing before the court to show that the primaries in which the 4th to 39th defendants participated was conducted by the National Working Committee of the PDP. Rather, their primaries were conducted by the Edo State chapter of the PDP.” The Judge further held that, “In my view, the power of INEC under Section 84 of the Electoral Act is limited to monitoring of party primary elections and does not extend to preparing or declaring the results of that election. This remains the law. “In the light of the foregoing, the 4th defendant, INEC, cannot rely on results prepared by the first defendant, Edo State PDP.” Dissatisfied, the Orbih’s faction appealed the judgment up to the Supreme Court, where judgment was today entered against them. Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shuaibu in his reaction, described the judgement as “no winner no loser'”. That’s Dan Orbih. PDP vice chairman south. Wike ally that Wike is using to create his own faction in edo state. habsydiamond: |
Dan Orbih has now abandoned his home state and now sits with Wike in Rivers. Interesting |
Only 25% from Akwa-ibom only 25% from Bauchi only 25% from Enugu blah blah. Where will the remaining 75% na come from? Just curious ratilokper: |
Fayose will soon defect and join his gangs in APC. All these former governors won’t allow popular candidates fly their party flag. They will impose their unpopular puppet and lose woefully at the poll. How can a former governor like Foyose candidate come distant 3rd in the last governorship election? Yet they will still be forming OG and holding the party to ransom and not let it move forward? All these politicians ways dey shock me. |
