Urhoghide the outgoing senator representing my constituency might be gearing up for the gubernatorial race of Edo 2024 under LP as it looks more likely to clinch the ticket there than in PDP.

I learnt is political protege won the only LP senatorial seat in Edo south.

2024 Edo guber race is gonna be full of intrigues and scheming
PoliticsRe: I’ll Support Tinubu On Nigeria’s Economic Growth, Security – Biden by jowhyte(m): 9:58pm On May 29, 2023
USA and the rest of the West have realized not aligning with the new President Tinubu who assume office via a disputed election will spell doom. The humanitarian crises that could arise from unrest and Nigeria being sided by other emerging world powers like China, Russia etc.

They rather threw morality aside and pretend like nothing happened during the last elections where unprecedented rigging took place to elect sorry select the present President.

To all the Obidients waiting for USA/UK/West to come engender the right thing, stop playing. This Western countries have got so much on their plates right now and not ready to risk any further confrontations with the Nigeria government as doing it at this critical time could undermine their long term interests.

Lets sit this one out and hope good things come from the new administration.

She has been a health worker for some years now but officially started practicing nursing since 2020.

Sure a newly registered nurse can get a skilled work visa as an overseas nurse it all depends on how you make it up on your application.

I know those love working experience no matter how little even if’s just 6 - 12 months etc.

There are other things you can add while school that can also help your experience too like any leadership role etc.

In all just put in effort to carefully craft your application so you stand out because it’s getting highly competitive nowadays.

UPDATE!

Just to encourage everyone job hunting for overseas visa sponsorship job especially for nurses here not to give up as we were once in the same boat but kept pushing and not give up.

May 2nd, 2023. I wrote here in this thread how we got a job offer on Wednesday April 26th, 2023.

We had filled and completed all the paperwork online except for the police report that was taking us about 2nd week to get after being promised to get it in 3 biz days. We did it in police headquarters Benin city.

I opted for a Lagos contact and got it in 3days instead.

Quickly used the police report to complete the NMC UK registration and did the £153 payment as this was part of the requirement before COS for visa application can be issued.

Thereafter, I sent the police report over to the Trust on 10th - 11th of May 2023, as this was the only thing waiting for them to review.

I had already booked TB screening for 18th of May, 2023 prior.

Tuesday 16th of May 2023, the Trust sent the COS to the email on file.

Then Wednesday 17th, May 2023 wifey traveled down to Lagos for the TB screening to be done on Wednesday.

While she was on her way, I started the visa application that That Wednesday 17th and got her an appointment date for Friday 19th, May 2023 because she will be going before us so she can focus and pass her OSCE before our arrival at a later date.

She did her TB test on 18th May, 2023 and visa appointment (biometric capturing etc) on 19th of May 2023.

The visa application is now being processed and we also opted for DHL delivery back to Benin city once a decision has been reached.

Just sharing this to encourage someone out there.

Cheers!

Why not Try the current Nova Scotia new licensure for 7 countries route which is Nigeria is lucky to be among? You won’t be needing NNAS or the $650 payment I think.

Leave all these dreamers alone. I don’t like Wike style - he is too overbearing and greedy but you see Rivers politics he gat no oppositions not even after aligning with Tinubu led Federal govt.

Second tenure is even too far for Wike to strike Sim should him misbehave. Make he just jejely Dey Wike Dey go, they are bound to disagree behind the scene and resolve their differences too.

If he try to do an open fight with Wike, he is a gonner.

Again I believe this news is just a mere rumour sha

Wike's core loyalist are every where from the judiciary to the recently elected 32 reps that he single handedly handpicked, incoming speaker is from wike's LGA, fubaras LGA has the least number of voters in the state, wike's ikwerre area are a power block and if he messes up, he'll lose woefully, for your info fubara comes from a minority area and he's surrounded by allies with little or no voting strength. Do you know the number of rugged men wike has empowered, from his LGA chairmen to the party chairman, fubara doesn't have the balls or cojones at all.
PoliticsRe: Stu*pid Nyesom Wike And His Boy Fubara Sim Fights Dirty! by jowhyte(m): 9:29am On May 19, 2023
This might just be one of those many political rumors that may not come to see the light of the day.

I don’t like Wike style because of his overbearing autocratic, greedy and selfish tendencies but Sim Fabara is too small for Wike to handle even if all Wike enemies should join hands to use Sim to fight Wike, Wike will just dismantle everything and send Sim Fabara packing via impeachment.

Sim Fabara might disagree with Wike but he should not turn it into a super man fight, I just pity him, he won’t even complete his first term not to talk of being re-elected for 2nd term.

Wike aligning with Tinubu federal government was intentional and never a mistake even when Wike knew he was betraying the south-south and south-east interest but he needed to do it so as to protect his political interests and assets like Sim Fabara from turning up against him.

That is how you guys were cheering Russia up that their coded special military operation will level Ukraine within 7 - 30 days and Ukraine will be turned to dust blahblah. Now Russia has boxed itself into a needless war and now their fear power and image has been battered by small Ukraine with little or no offensive military assets while that of Russia has greatly been depleted.

Una don still dey cheer SA again for war when nor concern them. If Russia with all their perceived military assets and economy is bleeding as result of the senseless ego war I wonder what will happen if half of the sanctions meted on Russian is placed on SA.

USA has their own faults but if not for country like them, autocratic and aggressive countries like Russia, North Korea etc go just wake and start sending missiles to helpless countries. The responsibility they are caring on their shoulder is not appreciated enough.

One would have thought you guys hating unnecessarily on the USA with different conspiracy theory for they apply in their numbers for Russia, China, SA, Brazil etc visas but no, you all are dying to get the USA visas yet and keep hating on them.

This fight nor concern SA, they are too small to be involved in such big fights that does not really theirs and does not concern them. Just one strong economic sanctions on SA, watch how innocent citizens will start feeling the crunch.

Which opposition?

Inasmuch I would love this to happen but it’s ain’t happening because Tinubu is not a rookie politician at all.

Na Tinubu be president elect not Buhari.

Besides Wike and Mankinde will gladly sow their reps to Tinubu.

Tinubu rigging his way to be president is something Nigeria will leave to regret especially his autocratic tendency in using state power, money and influence to stifle opposition. Anybody he anoint as a governor automatically becomes so.

He might work no doubt because he has the predilection for assembling performers.

bestofnollywood:
The House of Representatives member-elect for Bwari/AMAC federal constituency under the platform of the Labour Party (LP), Joshua Chinedu Obika, has ruled out the possibility of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) determining who becomes the next Speaker of the House in the incoming 10th National Assembly.

According to him, with the opposition now a silent majority in the House, the next Speaker can only emerge by merit.

Obika who said he was motivated to contest in the 2023 general election by the passing into law of the Electoral Act and the use of BVAS, noted that the majority in the house are the silent majority, as their numbers today outweigh that of the APC.

Accordingly, the federal lawmaker advised the APC to keep mute on the issue of zoning for the Speakership position because the crop of members elected into the 10th House does care about producing a Speaker along party lines.

Speaking with Applesbite in Abuja yesterday, Obika said, “So, my advice to APC is to be silent on the issue of zoning of the House of Representatives because they do not have the majority number. Some of us in the opposition are still willing, knowing that based on the different parties, we are the majority. We can understand that and we are still willing to work with the APC representatives because as far as we are in the House, we are careless about the political party. We want the best among us to lead us because this time it is going to be different.

“We have seven political parties in this 10th Assembly- PDP, SDP, LP, YPP, AP, and YDP. We have so many parties and the people who understand what is happening in this country know why because Nigerians want change and they do not care about the vehicle. All they care about is the change.

PoliticsRe: Edo2024: Dennis Idahosa's Governorship Bid Linked To Human Capital Development by jowhyte(m): 10:06am On May 02, 2023
I don’t know why Mike Ikirodah keep hyping Dennis. Is that the person your boss Oshiomole is secretly rooting for to clinch the Ticket and not Pastor Osagie Ize Iyamu anymore?

Make Dennis quietly face his Ovia People representation outside that area which is even a minority with low votes, the guy is not popular.

oikirodah:
Dennis Idahosa's Governorship Bid Linked To Capacity And Human Capital Development

The current high-level negotiations and political chess moves show how close the Edo state elections are. Although it is impossible to predict who will win the Edo state elections, the following two important factors could influence who becomes the state's next governor;

1 Personality and charisma: The personality and charisma of the candidates may also be a factor in the election, as voters may be attracted to candidates who are perceived as strong, confident, and capable.

2 Regional and ethnic considerations: Regional and ethnic considerations may also play a role in the election, as voters may be more likely to support candidates from their own region or ethnic group.

Aside from these two factors, a lot of political analysts have suggested Dennis Idahosa as a potential candidate and have given him credit for his human capital development and his capacity to deliver on promises.

Why is capacity and human development considered as significant criteria for the Edo state Governorship election in 2024?

Capacity is important in governance because it refers to the ability of a government or institution to effectively carry out its functions and responsibilities. Governance requires the ability to implement policies and programs, allocate resources, and make decisions that are in the best interest of the people or organization being governed.

A government or institution with strong capacity has the resources, expertise, and skills necessary to address complex challenges, respond to crises, and deliver services efficiently and effectively. This can help build trust and confidence in the government or institution among the population, which is essential for maintaining stability and promoting social and economic development.

Furthermore, a lack of capacity can lead to corruption, inefficiency, and a failure to address the needs of the population. It can also lead to a lack of accountability and transparency, which can undermine the legitimacy of the government or institution.

Therefore, building and maintaining capacity is essential for effective governance and the overall well-being of society.

Human capital development is critically important to the government for several reasons:

Economic development: Human capital development is a key driver of economic growth and development. A highly skilled workforce can lead to higher productivity, increased innovation, and competitiveness in the global economy. This, in turn, can lead to increased economic growth and higher living standards for citizens.

Social development: Human capital development is also important for social development. Education and training can help individuals develop their skills, knowledge, and abilities, which can improve their employment prospects and enable them to contribute more effectively to society.

Poverty reduction: Human capital development can also help to reduce poverty by providing individuals with the skills and knowledge they need to participate in the workforce and earn a living wage.

Health outcomes: Human capital development can also contribute to better health outcomes, as education and training can lead to improved health behaviors and better access to healthcare.

Democratic participation: Human capital development can also increase citizens' participation in the democratic process, as education and training can help individuals better understand their rights and responsibilities as citizens and engage in informed civic participation.

Overall, human capital development is essential for the government to achieve its economic, social, and political objectives and improve the well-being of its citizens.

As can be seen from the concept given above, if Dennis Idahosa decides to run for governor of Edo in 2024, he may have an advantage over the other candidates because of his record of supporting human capital development and keeping his promises.

It is important to note that our main focus with regards to the Edo 2024 governorship election is to provide guidance to voters in selecting the best candidates presented by the political parties.

As part of this duty, we will continue to profile potential candidates to ensure that voters are well-informed about each aspirant's capacity, without being biased by factors such as ethnicity or geopolitical zone, as poverty does not discriminate based on these factors.

Meanwhile, please offer us your preferred candidates and their prospects on WhatsApp 09010649814; Nigeria deserves better.

TravelRe: Nigerian Nurses And Midwives With The Dream Of Working Abroad Let's Meet Here. by jowhyte(m):
I think this your outlined process can be pretty expensive but it’s a good one to explore if the funds is there. My wife was once considering this but I objected and told her she will get a job.

Let me share our own personal story and this might motivate and encourage someone here too.

To your question if people are still getting jobs, it’s YES and wifey just got a conditional offer of employment from one of the Trusts in England but from my 6 - 7 months experience assisting wifey to hunt for jobs in the UK it’s seems very competitive now on top of the stricter WHO red list countries of nowadays but people are still getting jobs and I think the Skilled Worker Visa/COS that will give you a clear pathway to an indefinite leave/PR and ultimately a British passport makes it worth all the headache.

We had alot of unsuccessful emails especially due to red lists countries, no NMC pin, no right to work in the UK but I just kept pushing on with making more applications. I think we currently have over 750 applications on TRAC alone excluding other job sites but I have come to realize that TRAC can be the most powerful if done right and started focusing more of our job applications’ attention here and Wifey has had about 19 - 21 interviews so far from here alone with about 200+ more applications submitted and yet to be reviewed.

When we send in about 100 job applications on TRAC we are expecting to get 2 - 4 successful interviews shortlisting. We just kept sending in more applications and fine-tuning our applications especially the PS.

We started hunting for jobs around October/November 2022.

When we sensed that getting jobs as an overseas nurse especially from WHO red list country like Naija were becoming very competitive, we started applying seriously for jobs even when she has not completed her OET English Test score results.

She wrote her first OET test in Sept 2022, 2nd attempt in Dec 2022 and 3rd attempt in January 2023 and result was released in Feb 2023 but with Speaking being 340 score and I did the remarking booking and it released around March 2023 and luckily the Speaking score was upgraded to 370 and the money was refunded back into my GTBank dollar card about 4 days after.

All these while, she has been applying for jobs seriously like she already has her results complete. She had her very first interview with one of the Trust in Birmingham via Microsoft Teams February 2023 but unsuccessful.

More and more interviews came although unsuccessful I just kept encouraging her as she was learning and improving from them and this keep boosting her confidence and making her to know what types of questions to expect in the interview and practice a general answer to provide.

Any slight mistake not answering the questions well and providing real examples/ experience to back up the answers she will not be successful as we were just applying for band 5 roles that even nurses in the UK where also applying for and this makes it more competitive for her as she has no right to work, NMC pin.

We have had about 25 interviews altogether from about 15 - 17 different Trusts since we started job hunting. But she started getting more interviews after working better on her applications especially the Person Specification.

She has had a couple of successful interviews about 3 - 5 but many of the wards/Trust said they do not have the funding to support sponsorship and relocation jobs. We were not deterred as we keep firing in more applications. My goal was for her to have at least 3 job offers so she can choose from the location that will suit us.

Just Wednesday 26th April, 2023 she got a conditional offer of employment from one of the Trusts in England.

Conditional offer letter and Preemployment checks docs like COS forms, References, DBS, Occupational Health Questionnaire, MMR/Immunization details have been sent and we are now waiting for the police report to be out so we can send them back the forms and hopefully get unconditional offer of employment.

They said if everything works out well and fast, they are looking forward to having her move to England June/July with alongside other 4 - 5 nurses to resume as band 4 while preparing to attempt her first OSCE exam within the first few weeks so she can become a band 5 nurse with and NMC pin.

mbok:
Are Nigerian nurses still getting jobs in the UK? What about Ireland? It seems they've stopped taking Nigerians o. Is it better to get a visit visa, then travel to the UK to find a job after writing Ielts and CBT. Then come back to Nigeria to change the visa type and finally go back to the UK? Any advise on this?

Elrufai can not lose Kaduna to opposition. He knew APC lost the state to PDP at the poll but with Tinubu becoming a president, his loyalists won’t be losing their states to opposition parties no matter the glaring evidences.

Tinubu need those states and even more from the opposition camp to seal his 2nd term reelection.

APC might even steal more states at the Tribunal-supreme courts. Tinubu will use both money and intimidation to overrule the opposition and render them toothless.
