Politics2023: Confusion In Tinubu’s Camp As Onanuga Opposes Keyamo Over Campaign List by joy4news(op): 11:56pm On Sep 25, 2022
The inclusion of Senator Chimaroke Nnamani as a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC and Bola Tinubu Presidential Campaign Council has produced a counter-reaction.

Quest Times reported the APC released the Presidential Campaign Council list on Friday following weeks of anxiety and serial postponements.

Nnamani, a former governor of Enugu State between 1999 and 2007, but currently representing Enugu East Senatorial District in the upper chamber of the National Assembly, is listed as a member of the local government directorate. He is the 350th slot on the APC’s 422-member PCC list signed by the secretary of the council, James Faleke.

Reacting, Tinubu’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga admitted the inclusion of Senator Chimaroke Nnamani in the campaign list “was an error”, contradicting his colleague’s (Festus Keyamo) claim that it was intentional.

According to Keyamo, “no refutal from the other side (PDP)” adding that “there is a fundamental right in our constitution to freely associate with whomever you want to associate with”.

“So, if you associate with the party (PDP), you don’t believe in any of his candidate and you want to campaign for the candidate of another party (APC) in respect of a particular office (presidency); I think that is an issue that other party (PDP) should deal with,” Keyamo stated when asked on Channels TV’s Politics Today to clear air on the controversies surrounding the APC’s campaign list.

PoliticsPDP Crisis: You Can’t Play God, Atiku’s Camp Fires Back At Wike by joy4news(op): 12:54am On Sep 24, 2022
Former vice president and presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar says the opposition will survive without Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike.

Bwala made the comment on Friday, hours after the Rivers State leader briefed the press where he opened up on the crisis rocking the PDP since its presidential primary election in May.

“Iyorcha Ayu and Atiku were founding members. They left and had to come back. Let me tell you why you can’t play God,” Mr Bwala said in a Channels TV interview on Friday night.

“Atiku left, the party survived. Ayu left, the party survived. If Wike leaves, the party will survive. Obasanjo is not in PDP, it survived. You need to understand and know the limit of your operation and influence,” Mr Bwala added.

Politics‘You’re Big Disgrace To Nigerians’, Pat Utomi Bombs APC, PDP by joy4news(op): 10:53am On Sep 23, 2022
*Says “they should be having rallies of apologies rather than campaigning for 2023”

Erudite scholar and chieftain of the Labour Party, LP, Prof Pat Utomi says both Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its rival, All Progressive Congress (APC) should apologise to Nigerians for their misrule.

He said the two political parties (APC and PDP) have disappointed many by failing to live up to expectations.

Professor Utomi made the assertion while speaking with some journalists in Lagos during the inauguration ceremony of excos and national pre-flag off of Peter Obi and Datti presidential campaign by Director-General, Dr Derek Omoleh.

“APC and PDP should be having rallies of apologies by now. That is all they should be doing but they have the courage to actually be talking about campaigning for 2023.

PoliticsFACT CHECK: Was Anambra Under Peter Obi’s Watch Safest State In Nigeria? by joy4news(op):
The Labour Party presidential candidate for the 2023 election, Peter Obi, is in the eye of the storm with several allegations levied against him by the opposition.

Recently, Adams Oshiomhole, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressive Congress accused Peter Obi of failing to tackle insecurity as Governor of Anambra from 2006-2014.

Addressing an audience at the All Progressives Congress’ Youth Forum in Abuja, Oshiomhole questioned how Obi intends to fix Nigeria’s security challenges when he couldn’t fix Anambra’s.

“Who was the governor when Bakassi developed in Anambra State? Who solved the problem? If a man could not fix the security challenges in Anambra State, which requires courage, how can he convince you that he will fix security all over Nigeria?

“So, when he (Obi) says, ‘I will fix Nigeria,’ ask him, have you fixed your state?” Oshiomhole was quoted as saying.

Verification

In its attempt to confirm the validity of the statement credited to the Edo former governor, Quest Times conducted a fact-check on Anambra’s security situation under Peter Obi’s watch.

Quest Times findings indicated Anambra under Peter Obi’s watch was the safest in Nigeria.

According to a media report published April 11, 2011, by TheNation, Anambra was named “the safest State in Nigeria” following a police report.

“The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Abubakar Mohammed, yesterday (Thursday, April 10, 2011) declared that Anambra State remained the safest state in the last five years, according to police records.

“Abubakar, who was speaking at the Women Development Centre, Awka, at the State’s Stakeholders’ Summit announced that there was no bank robbery in the State in the last five years during former Governor Peter Obi.

“He urged Governor Willie Obiano to emulate his predecessor by sustaining the security situation in the State.

“The inspector-general hailed the relationship between the police and the government under Peter Obi, which contributed to the improved security, and reassured Governor Obiano that the police would give him a 100 percent support to rid the state of kidnappers and robbers,” TheNation reported.

Conclusion

It is true Anambra under Peter Obi’s watch was the safest in Nigeria.

Politics‘Ji Masun’: Moment ‘Healthy’ Tinubu Falls Asleep During Meeting In Gombe by joy4news(op): 1:38am On Sep 18, 2022
Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu was dozed into a nap on Saturday during a meeting with the Emir of Gombe, Abubakar Shehu-Abubakar, raising further questions on the frailty of his health.

This is coming a few days the APC Presidential Campaign Council claimed his flag-bearer Bola Tinubu is “hale and hearty”.

Quest Times understands Tinubu was in Gombe primarily to attend the wedding of Misbahu Inuwa Yahaya, son of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya. He then stopped by for a brief homage and political meeting at the Emir’s Palace, accompanied by political bigwigs that included Senate President Ahmad Lawan and federal cabinet secretary Boss Mustapha.

As the meeting got underway, Mr Tinubu was captured sleeping while Mr Lawan was holding the microphone addressing attendees at the emir’s living room.

It was not immediately clear why Mr Tinubu dozed off, but speculations are rife on social media about the development, with critics saying it marked another evidence of his weakness while his supporters said he was barely ‘meditating’.

TravelUndercover Investigation: How Lagos BRT Has Moved From ‘Top To Bottom’ by joy4news(op):
Even though it received a rousing welcome when it was first introduced in 2008, Lagos’ BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) scheme is now a tale of overloaded buses, stuffy interiors, staff gaming the system, poor maintenance culture, delay in arrival of buses, corruption, rude personnel, reckless drivers, and everything in between.

In this investigative report, Quest Times’ AROGBONLO ISRAEL took a ride in BRT buses for a month, documenting his experiences with a spy camera.

The BRT scheme was supposed to sanitise a chaotic mass transit system in Lagos, but it hasn’t lived up to its billing.

Israel rode in BRT buses from Oshodi to Abule Egba, TBS, Ikorodu, Ikotun, Ajah, Berger, CMS, etc. — he took a tour across all the designated terminals where BRT picks up commuters in Lagos, at each stop, documenting the rot in the system.

His story is a compelling read…

A brief history of Lagos BRT
While transportation is an integral part of human existence, it is even more so in Lagos, Nigeria’s most populous city and commercial capital; as commuters put up with all sorts of challenges while moving around a frenetic city famed for its gridlock and bedlam.

The yellow and black striped buses – Molues and Danfos – were a menace; and the Danfo is still as creaky as ever with drivers who sip alcohol before hitting the roads.

The Molues (long buses), usually transformed Bedford or Mercedes Benz 911 trucks and Danfos – Volkswagen minibuses – are poorly maintained, dirty, crowded, and uncomfortable. For many Lagosians, it was an unpleasant experience riding on these public buses.

BRT buses were supposed to replace the aforementioned and confine them to the dustbin of history. They were supposed to be a breath of fresh air.

With the emergence of BRT in 2008–an initiative of the Bola Tinubu administration–there was an infusion of fresh air to what was a chaotic intra-state mass transit system in Lagos. This happened when the first phase of the Lagos BRT was opened. It was tagged “BRT-Lite.”

It operated on a 22-kilometre radial highway that connects Mile 12 and Lagos Island. That is, it ran from Mile 12 through Ikorodu Road and Funsho Williams Avenue, Eko Bridge up to CMS.

In its first year, the BRT transported an average of 200,000 passengers daily.

In 2012, it carried 51 million passengers, averaging around 140,000 a day. Still, this was only a fraction of the passengers who would normally use private buses.

Subsequently, a second phase of the BRT was implemented, which extended from CMS to Mile 12 to Ikorodu.

26 bus shelters are offered along the Mile 12-CMS corridor; three bus terminals are also placed along the corridor (at Mile 12, Moshalashi, and CMS), with the bus terminal at CMS designed to integrate with transport modes of rail and ferry that are planned for future construction by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA).

To enhance its operations, a franchise system was devised by LAGBUS to allow private sector participation in the BRT scheme.

In 2012, a LAGBUS franchise became operational. It started with 10 franchise companies, 17 operating routes, and 238 buses.

While the contract signed with LAGBUS by the franchisees was still running, LAMATA entered a controversial BRT franchise with another private firm, this time, Primero.

On January 6, 2016, the Ambode-led government banned the LAGBUS buses from the BRT scheme, denying them access to load or alighting passengers along the Ikorodu-Mile 12-CMS BRT corridor, following some violations by the operators.

The banned LAGBUS franchise buses were later moved to 14 other non-BRT routes identified by the LAMATA Master plan.

LAMATA, in a move that sparked controversy and suspicion, granted Primero Transport Services Limited, a private company, the exclusive right to operate on the lucrative BRT corridors in Lagos.

Meanwhile, details of the contract LAMATA signed with Primero remain shrouded in secrecy.

The BRT system is being managed by these four operators – Lagos State Buses Limited (LSBL), TJ Motors Ltd, Primero Transport Services Ltd (PTSL), and Amalgamated Transport Services Ltd.

Currently, LAMATA is in direct control of the BRT infrastructure; NURTW is in charge of LAGBUS operation.

Today, the BRT system is practically on a downward spiral, no thanks to the poor maintenance culture of its operators, among other aberrations.

The Lagos BRT blueprint
Lagos BRT was supposed to be a high-quality bus-based transit system that was initiated to deliver fast, comfortable, and cost-effective services at metro-level capacity for the benefit of residents.

To persuade users of private vehicles to make the switch, the vehicles are supposed to be fully air-conditioned, fitted with cameras, free WiFi (internet), USB ports to charge phones, a television for entertainment, and special seats for persons with physical challenges and the elderly.

The BRT regime was expected to infuse competition in Lagos’ mass transit scheme. BRT bus fares ought to be 30% less than the average, as stipulated in its blueprint. That is, from N100 to the N150 charged by Danfos. Reducing commuting time by 40%, and cutting the average waiting time by 35% were also essentials.

The BRT scheme was expected to run two shifts daily, that is morning and night.

During weekdays, BRT resumes morning operation from 6am and closes at 12noon, while the night shift starts from 4pm to 10pm.

On weekends, on the other hand, BRT starts its morning shift from 6am to 8am; the evening shift is from 2pm to 8pm.

“From top to bottom”
Based on our findings, BRT operators have deviated from some of the aforementioned blueprints for reasons best known to them.

There have been a lot of changes (on the negative side) in the BRT scheme, from its poor customer service to failed service delivery.

The saying “from top to bottom” has become an apt description of how the BRT system has been plagued by the “Nigerian factor” which has hampered its operations and led to a deviation from the blueprint.

PoliticsMr Mugu: You're Helping Me Live Rentfree In 'ur Empty Head, Keyamo Gets Wotowoto by joy4news(op): 5:43pm On Sep 14, 2022
The spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential campaign council, Festus Keyamo, and a retired American mental health counsellor, Dr. Jeffrey Guterman, have been tackling each other on Twitter amidst the 2023 elections.

The former minister had warned Guterman to stay out of Nigeria’s politics after he tweeted “Shame on you, #fkeyamo” when he (Keyamo) claimed that Peter Obi of the Labour Party, was playing the ethnic card to get votes in the coming election.

In his counterattack, Keyamo blasted the American mental health counsellor while describing him (Guterman) as a political jobber while cautioning him to stay away from Nigeria’s political affairs.

“As a hired online mercenary without a Nigerian Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC), may I suggest you stay away from our local politics? I am under restraint from professional bodies to which I belong, hence I have not descended on you with the worst expletives.”

Reacting, Guterman decribed the APC spokesperson as “Mr Mugu” meaning a “fool” in English parlance while stating categorically that he would not steer clear of Nigeria’s politics.

“I will not stay away from Nigerian politics, Mr. Mugu #fkeyamo,” he tweeted.

In a fresh exchange between the duo on Wednesday, Keyamo quoted a tweet of Guterman asking for financial help and said, “My friend #JeffreyGuterman, you should have said this from the word go that you needed financial help, hence your interest in our internal affairs to attract some patronage from supporters here.

“I am sorry to hear about your financial needs and I wish you well. Goodluck.”

Dr. Guterman retorted, “I am not your friend, Mr. Mugu #fkeyamo. But please continue replying to my tweets.

“You are helping me immensely with my financial problems by allowing me to live rent free in your empty head.”

Politics2023: Tinubu ‘Dey Kampe’, APC Tackles Peter Obi by joy4news(op): 2:30pm On Sep 14, 2022
The Presidential Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Tuesday, countered speculations describing its presidential flag-bearer, Bola Tinubu, as unfit for the presidency, adding that the latter is “hale and hearty”.

The clarification is coming against the backdrop of the allegation by Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, that Tinubu is not fit to rule the country.

Reacting in a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday, Director of Media and Publicity for APC Presidential Campaign Council, Bayo Onanuga, described Obi as an ‘incurable liar.’

“We want to make it crystal clear to all the traducers of the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate that Asiwaju Tinubu is not ill.

“He is hale and hearty. A man, who works for 20 hours a day, meeting people and strategising about finding solutions to Nigeria’s problems, cannot be said to be ill.

“We make bold to say that our candidate is as fit as the fiddle.

“We find these statements unbecoming of a man who nurses the ambition to be Nigeria’s next President. Since he is not Asiwaju’s doctor and is not privy to his medical record, Obi has again disgracefully elevated what has for long been a beer parlour gossip and social media lie being propagated by his IPOB supporters.

“Obi in his characteristic manner is amplifying falsehood, which should not have a place in a decent political campaign.

“We believe that political leaders should be guided in their utterances and be sticklers for the truth, but Obi has thrown all caution to the wind, pronouncing on issues he has no moral and professional competence to make a judgment call on,” the statement partly read.

PoliticsDon't Sleep, Aspirants Tells Tinubu As Mass Defection Hits APC by joy4news(op): 12:43am On Sep 14, 2022
AHEAD of the 2023 general elections, body of aspirants on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have expressed concern over defections that have hit the party in recent weeks.

The group, under the auspices of APC360, called on presidential candidate of the party, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to urgently set measures to halt the massive defection of members, especially aspirants to other political parties.

Members of the group, consisting of aspirants who paid to participate and vie for various elective posts at the parties primaries from the 36 states of the federation and Abuja, raised the alarm after an emergency meeting in Abuja on Tuesday.

National secretary of the group, Chris Enoch, in a statement, said supporters of the APC were deeply concerned about the fact that the party hierarchy has still not arrested the situation.

Aside thousands of supporters at states level, more than eight senators have dumped the APC, including the Senate Majority and Minority Leaders. At the House of Representatives, more than 25 lawmakers have also jumped ship.

According to Enoch, as critical stakeholder, the group cannot close its eves against the dangerous trend sweeping away party members like the flood of Mesopotamia.

The group said: ”it is also hazardous and harmful to the health and wealth of our great party, particularly when we are preparing for a national election.

“We as members of the only pressure group that has invested in this great party through the direct purchase at expression of interest and nomination forms, etc. are concerned because of our belief that the massive decamping which is being surreptitiously tarried out is planned and calculated to frustrate the coasting to the victory of Tinubu at the in-coming general election by those who have scores to settle with the party or are holding grudges and to this end are working against the party.

The group however, noted that “some of these detection cases are sponsored by some powerful members who feel dissatisfied with the mood and manner by which the party has treated them with the conduct of the primaries while others are borne out of the allegation that the party hierarchy abandoned and relegated them into the background after victory not acknowledging or compensating them for their huge efforts and heavy commitment to the party before victory”

“We as vested stakeholders in the party can no longer stay akimbo and pretend that things are okay while large number of significant members particularly aspirants from 2015, 2013, and 2022 primaries, are decamping to strengthen opposition parties Which give them listening ears”.

The group called on Tinubu to set in motion a strategy that can halt the unwelcome development, adding that as an experienced political master and strategist who understands the the devastating consequences of subterfuge, “you should not sleep or slumber as significant members of the party are decamping in droves.”

PoliticsObi Not Attacked In Abuja, He Is Hale And Hearty, Says Aide by joy4news(op): 2:37pm On Sep 13, 2022
Valentine Obienyem, the media aide of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has debunked the purported attack on his principal in Abuja.

Obienyem, in a statement made available to journalists, said Obi was hale and hearty.

He urged the supporters to ignore the falsehood making the rounds that the former Anambra State governor was attacked.

He insisted that Obi has consistently reiterated the belief that politics should always be devoid of violence.

The statement read, “The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, and by the grace of God, fueled by his merit, the next President of Nigeria, Mr. Peter Obi, is back to the country. In the last three weeks, he transversed the world, convincing Nigerians of the need to take back their country and move in sync with the rest of the world.

“Kindly ignore the falsehood making the rounds that he was attacked. May God forbid even the very thought of such barbarism be visited on him.

“Obi has consistently reiterated his belief that politics should always be devoid of violence. This remains his political credo.

“It is pertinent to note that the news, coming shortly after Mr. Festus Keyamo’s press release, alleging a plan by Obi to stage manage his assassination is worrisome. It shows that the devil may be at work in endless and familiar scheming.

“We shall continue to entrust Mr. Peter Obi into the protection of the Almighty while he ensures he is adequately protected from seeing through the work of re-building Nigeria that providence has entrusted unto him.”

PoliticsLabour Party In ‘Buga Mood’ As NLC Vows To Mobilise Nigerians Nationwide For Obi by joy4news(op): 9:55am On Sep 13, 2022
Ahead of the 2023 presidential election, the leadership of the organised labour under the aegis of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has promised to mobilise its members across the 774 local government areas in Nigeria to ensure victory for Labour Party standard-bearer, Peter Obi.

This was made known by the President of NLC, Ayuba Wabba, at the national retreat of the Labour party on Monday, September 13, 2022, in Abuja.

Recall that earlier in June, the NLC and the TUC declared that they would work for the victory of Peter Obi in the 2023 presidential election, saying that they would do everything within their power to make sure that he wins the elections.

The opponents of the Labour party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, have often criticised him and his party of have the structure nationwide to be able to win the 2023 presidential election.

His words;

“One issue that we must take very seriously is actually conscientising our members and also Nigerians because Nigeria is so much divided along many primordial interests and many interests that are self-centred that we need to address.

“No country in the world can prosper and work in unity if the country is so divided. So one of the responsibilities of Labour Party is to unite Nigerians along a common goal of development and prosperity.’’

SportsBarcelona Send Stern Warning To Bayern With Emphatic 4-0 Win Over Cadiz by joy4news(op): 9:02pm On Sep 10, 2022
Barcelona continue their unbeaten run with an emphatic 4-0 win over Cadiz on Sunday ahead of their next match against Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Tuesday, September 13.

A hectic start to the match saw a nervy couple of moments in the defence, which included Gerard Pique making his first start of the season.

Barcelona then applied pressure to the Cadiz defence and came close through Raphinha’s strike, which came off the inside of the post. The ball then fell to Ferran Torres, who forced a good save from Conan Ledesma in the Cadiz goal.

The second half had started much the same way but when Gavi made a run between the central defender and the full-back, as is becoming his trademark, Raphinha found him down the right side. His ball was palmed out by Ledesma, falling to an onrushing Frenkie de Jong to pass it into an empty net.

Politics2023: ‘Let’s Win Together’, Fayose Breaks Silence On PDP Crisis by joy4news(op): 12:19am On Sep 10, 2022
The former governor of Ekiti, Ayodele Fayose, has called on all the warring members of the Peoples Democratic Party to put all their differences aside and work together to clinch victory come 2023.

He equally gave reasons people speak ill of the governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike.

Speaking during the inauguration of Rivers State Government’s upgrade of Community Secondary School in Harry’s Town, Fayose commended Wike for his laudable works in the State.

He also refuted plans of dumping the PDP for the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, to support Bola Tinubu.

His words;

“For me, I want to believe Atiku Abubakar is not against you. But let me say this quickly, a lot of people surrounding the throne are enemies of the throne.

“No living person in the party and outside this party that will not acknowledge your contribution to this party. You are the soul of this party.

“Rivers State has been here for a long, but today we can see the difference. The average Rivers man is proud to be from Rivers.

“They’re proud to say you’re their governor. Forget whatever anybody says about you.

“I’ve said it before, Wike, the man with a fierce look but a good heart. The heart of love, to accomplish and give support.

“The majority of our enemies today are not against you because of anything, but against you because you have capacity.

“They’re against you because they know that when you take over they’ll fall apart.

“Wike has not come out to say that Atiku Abubakar is not the presidential candidate. He is.

“I was there the second day after the election when our candidate, the former vice president visited Governor Wike’s residence.

“We had a mutual conversation. We were all happy. Everything was in place to move forward.

“I spoke at that meeting. But I don’t want to aggravate this situation. I’m only appealing to people that matter.

“In every political party, there will be grouping. The same family, but different interests.

“We can do better than we are doing. People around the corridor of power, please, allow this candidate to win election. We don’t celebrate victory until it is ours.”

The former governor, however, called on the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar to nip the crisis in the party into the bud ahead of the 2023 general elections.

PoliticsObidients In The House! Read This Mind-blowing Open Letter To Peter Obi by joy4news(op): 4:13pm On Sep 06, 2022
I thought of sharing this open letter with us. Kindly read and pass if you find it offensive. To before warned is to before harm!

Open Letter to Peter Obi (Part 2)

I wrote my first letter to you dated July 31, 2022, which was widely accepted by Nigerians (both home and abroad). As part of the recommendations, the Labour Party has started rebranding its identity through strategic campaigns aimed at revolutionising the minds of Nigerians to embrace its ideologies, a development that should translate to building a formidable structure for the party across the breadth and length of the country if the momentum can be sustained in earnest.

However, there are other areas that have not yet been visibly touched and as a matter of urgency should be given the utmost attention so as to achieve optimal success ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Sir, it is worthy of note that your emergence as Labour Party standard-bearer has transformed the party from its "lightweight" identity to a reference point where the heavyweight parties like APC and PDP can't but include in their political calculations and permutations. This is not an exaggeration as the two leading political parties, of course, who once tagged your party (Labour Party) as "party that has no structure" now seem perturbed by the momentum the party is gathering here and there.

What surprises many is your level of wisdom in winning the hearts of your antagonists through non-violent politicking that is cleverly done to convince them in subscribing to your school of politics, despite the high level of propaganda to dissuade Nigerians from the real substance. No doubt, the Labour Party is like a smoke in the eyes of Nigerians that can't be covered, no matter how hard the politicking may turn out to be.

On this note, it is important to seize the opportunity to reach out to more Nigerians (the information poor) who have no access to the internet or social media, hence, the reason for writing you this letter to be able to accommodate more of these recommendations which are germane to having a resounding victory, even as we prepare for the campaign proper starting later this month.

Your Excellency, there is more ground work to be done to ensure that the three major tribes - Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo are all captured in your campaign. It is also essential that the needs of all the electorates–irrespective of their ethnic nationalities or religious affiliations–are also taken into cognizance if the Labour Party must win come 2023.

For instance, the Hausas (the semi-illiterate among them) are more radio-friendly than surfing through the net for information. The Labour Party can reach out to this category of audience by designing a radio jingle in their indigenous language, explaining in clear terms why they should consider the Labour Party before other parties. It is a cost-effective way of reaching out to more heterogeneous audiences scattered in space and time.

Going forward, the national executives must also focus on the internal crisis in some states of the federation, especially Lagos where there is still pockets of contentions to the candidacy of Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour who is considered to be sitting on a keg of gunpowder, following the controversies surrounding his emergence as the party's flag-bearer. The party leadership should visit the State and see things from the eyes of the eagle rather than through a third party.

Sir, another area you should focus more attention on is the synergy between your support group (PONSG) and the Labour Party. The relationship between the duo has not been really encouraging in recent times as some of these so-called groups haven't been aligning with the existing structure of the Labour Party at the State, Local Government, and Ward level. For instance, Alimosho, being home to the largest polling units in Lagos, still has some support groups who have not yet deemed it fit to align to the Labour Party structure in the area. A support group cannot be greater than the political party that it is fronting for, hence, there is a lacuna when it is vise-versa. This is just one example out of the myriad other local governments in the country where such defects persist and it is a serious threat to the overall performance of the party come 2023. The Labour Party is the vehicle for other support groups and the latter must stoop low to subscribe to its ideologies if the Obi-Datti train must have a safe landing in the forthcoming presidential election. A word, they say, is enough for the wise!

Politics‘Not Speaking As Pastor’, RCCG Breaks Silence On Remi Tinubu’s Viral Outburst by joy4news(op): 11:33pm On Sep 05, 2022
The Redeemed Christian Church of God has reacted to social media comments questioning its ordination of Senator Remi Tinubu as a pastor.

Quest Times understands this is coming after a video showing the Senator representing Lagos Central at the National Assembly talking about the Igbo and their alleged refusal to align with Lagos’ local politics, resurfaced on social media.

According to the wife of the former governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, the Igbo residing in the state “were proving difficult despite the love shown to them”.

“We will entreat all the deities of Lagos to chase Igbo people out. Igbo who didn’t marry Yoruba, we will inherit them. Given how much we love Igbo, you now want to spoil everything.

Politics2023: ‘Who Bankrolled Your Statement?’, Dino Melaye Bombs Fani-kayode by joy4news(op): 12:54am On Sep 05, 2022
The spokesperson of the Atiku Abubakar presidential campaign organisation, Dino Melaye has reacted to the statement credited to former aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode who reportedly called for his arrest following controversial comment on PDP’s Convention.

Earlier, the APC chieftain averred that Melaye, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Iyorchia Ayu and members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) should be arrested immediately for recent comments made by the Kogi former Senator.

According to him, “All the PDP Governors spent money at our party’s Convention to get Ayu elected as National Chairman reportedly made by Melaye”.

He added; “This is a grave and serious matter. It is a public confession of a criminal offence made by a senior figure within the PDP cabal that committed the said offence.

“It follows that Ayu’s election was a product of corruption and criminality and so was Waziri Atiku Abubakar’s as their party’s presidential flag-bearer at a later convention which was conducted by him.”

Reacting, in a statement titled “SORRY, FFK, PDP HAS NO FOOD FOR THE LAZY” posted on his Facebook on Sunday, Dino Melaye described the former minister’s statement as “a mixture of prevarication, lack of comprehension and a voyage in meddlesomeness and idleness”.

PoliticsVIDEOS: Obidients Shutdown Ibadan, Abeokuta, Nnewi In Solidarity March For Obi by joy4news(op): 11:08pm On Sep 03, 2022
Ahead of the 2023 presidential election, Labour Party members on Saturday took to the streets of Ibadan, Abeokuta, and Nnewi in a solidarity walk for Peter Obi.

In Ibadan, Oyo capital city, Obi’s supporters converged at Iwo road defying the rain to participate in a walk rally to Dugbe.

Similarly, in Abeokuta, Ogun, ‘OBIdients’ as Obi supporters are fondly called, gathered at the popular Kuto market in Abeokuta marching through major streets before terminating at the Panseke market.

The situation was no different in Nnewi, Anambra, as Peter Obi’s supporters closed their shops to participate in the ‘million-man march’ which started at Amaobi Otolo.

A previous rally scheduled for Kaduna was disrupted by police officers allegedly acting on the orders of Governor Nasir El-Rufai, according to a member of the Obi-Datti Campaign Organization, Nana Sani-Kazaure.

Meanwhile, Peter Obi has revealed the full meaning of the ‘OBIdient’ acronym.

PoliticsStop Deceiving Nigerians, Buhari’s Disciples Caution Peter Obi, Atiku by joy4news(op): 5:33pm On Aug 31, 2022
The Buhari Media Organisation, BMO, has described some presidential candidates as power mongers who are bent on using disinformation and divisive rhetorics to curry sympathy votes from unsuspecting Nigerians.

In a statement signed by its Chairman Niyi Akinsiju and Secretary Cassidy Madueke, BMO said it was not surprising to hear opposition candidates using the recent NBA conference to take pot shots at the President Muhammadu Buhari administration.

“With Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) having two kindred spirits in the person of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the Labour Party candidate Peter Obi in the 2023 race, we were not exactly surprised to hear their rhetorics at the NBA conference, but what we find disturbing is their resort to disinformation.

“For instance, a man who as Vice President presided over a privatisation process that shortchanged the Nigerian people and pushed millions of people into the unemployment market had the temerity to promise to tackle a problem he was part of.

PoliticsRevealed: How APC Governors Failed To Lobby Osinbajo To Support Muslim Ticket by joy4news(op): 10:11am On Aug 31, 2022
A high-powered delegation of governors elected on the platform of All Progressive Congress, APC, met with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo Tuesday ostensibly to get him to make a U-turn to support the party’s Muslim-Muslim ticket which the VP has stood against on several occasions since 2014.

There is nothing to suggest the Vice President has changed his stance on the party’s Muslim-Muslim ticket which necessitated the APC governors to be desperately seeking Osinbajo’s endorsement through a facade visit.

One of those who attended the meeting and Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, posted on his Twitter account with a rare picture of himself with Osinbajo at the meeting saying “We assured the President that we are ready and solidly behind our Presidential candidate and his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima. We will work hard to ensure our party becomes victorious.”

A source close to Sanwo-Olu said Tinubu’s camp had mandated the Governor to do the tweet with Osinbajo’s picture to give the impression that the revered Professor of Law is in support of the controversial Muslim-Muslim ticket, which has been rejected by large sections of Nigerians including the influential Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), and several people of conscience including Professor Wole Soyinka.

It was earlier reported that 11 governors, on Tuesday, filed into Osinbajo’s office after seeing President Muhammadu Buhari, but the discussion was not unconnected to a news making the rounds that APC aspirants were expected to meet with the party’s presidential candidate Wednesday, 31st August, 2022.

Also, a chieftain of the party had stated that Dr Nicholas Felix, a former APC presidential aspirant, does not have the capacity to initiate such meeting on behalf of the Vice President, or any of the leading presidential aspirants noting that such meetings, especially with the claim that it was to adopt strategies for 2023 election. The source said such a meeting idea should have been routed through the party chairman or the NWC.

“Would the party chairman be invited into a meeting he was supposed to initiate?” The chieftain who spoke on condition of anonymity asked.

Independent investigations have revealed that some of the aspirants were not formally informed nor invited to the meetings, which is now expected to be aborted.

In fact, one of the aspirants was not in the country, the aide said.

Another top party member explained that the APC governors’ romance around the Vice President is to convince him to work with same religion candidates, knowing that he has been canvassing for equal representation of all religion and ethnic groups.

“The Vice President is not likely going to support a Muslim-Muslim ticket and his silence in not openly endorsing the ticket is unsettling some top persons in the party.

“They have been trying to lobby him to support the race despite publicly accepting the result of the APC primaries, they still want to see more from him knowing he is not likely to support same religion ticket,” said.

In a tweet by Vice President’s spokesman, Laolu Akande, after the meeting said the 11 Governors called on the VP “on a felicitation visit as he recovers from the surgery done last month.”

Efforts to get him to speak on the Muslim-Muslim ticket reports proved abortive as his numbers were not reachable.

But it would be recalled that a previous news story before the selection of APC’s Presidential running mate had reported that the VP had strongly advised against a Muslim-Muslim ticket just like he and the President did in 2014 ahead of the 2015 election which they went on to win.
