PoliticsUS Mental Health Counsellor Calls Tinubu “Zombie” by joy4news(op): 8:46pm On Nov 02, 2022
An American mental health counsellor, Dr. Jeffrey Guterman, has described presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, as a “zombie”.

The word “zombie” is used to describe someone who moves around as if unconscious and being controlled by someone else.

Spokesperson for the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Festus Keyamo on Wednesday posted a photo of Tinubu with a caption “He’s got swag!”. This comes barely 24 hours after the latter arrived the venue of the meeting with the business community in Lagos on Tuesday, November 1.

In a counterattack, Dr. Jeff as fondly called by his admirers wrote in the comment section; “He (Tinubu) is a zombie”.

Recall the retired American mental health counsellor and Keyamo had “gbas gbos” sometime in September following their political differences.

PoliticsTerrorism: It’s Time For Nigerians To Know The Truth — Natasha by joy4news(op): 10:07pm On Oct 31, 2022
Senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kogi, Mrs Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has said she was ready to surrender to the operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) for questioning but Governor Bello must be invited as well.

She stated this in an interview with Channels TV Politics Today, monitored by Quest Times on Monday.

Recall the Kogi State Government had called on the leadership of security agencies in Nigeria to invite the PDP candidate for questioning over alleged terrorism-related activities.

This was contained in a statement signed Monday by the state Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, in Lokoja.

“It is worrisome for the PDP that Natasha represents to come out openly to identify with Safiu, a terror suspect that is linked to the bloody attack on a church in Owo that led to the death of scores of worshippers.

“He (Safiu) is also linked to the dastardly attack on the Kuje Correctional Centre as well as military formations within and outside of Kogi.

“It was a thing of relief to the people of Kogi Central that security agencies were able to apprehend their Chief Tormentor. Criminality doesn’t know political party. A criminal is a criminal and should be treated as such,” Fanwo was quoted as saying.

Reacting to the allegations, Akpoti-Uduaghan said that it was the conspiracy of Bello’s government to link her with terrorism-related activities in the state, adding that Safiu had been working with the governor all the while but he was infuriated that the Safiu dumped APC for PDP.

According to her, in 2019, the narrative against her was that she was single, but now that she got married to a gentleman from Delta, her state government was worried that she would win and was deploying all forms of conspiracy against her that she was importing terrorists form other States to destablise Kogi.

“I will like that the DSS invite me for questioning and they must also invite Yahaya Bello. And I will want the interrogation by the DSS (for both of us) to be televised.

“I don’t mind supplying the network for Channels, Arise, AIT and other stations interested.

“It is time for Nigerians to know the truth. All of this (allegation) is political and Yahaya Bello knows he’s going to lose. His government is going to lose,” she said.

PoliticsYahaya Bello’s Council Boss Gives PDP 7-day Ultimatum To Vacate Secretariat by joy4news(op): 9:26am On Oct 28, 2022
Ahead of the 2023 elections in Kogi, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been asked to vacate its proposed party secretariat in the Okene area of the State.

This comes on the heels of a ‘Save our Soul’ message forwarded to the Inspector General of Police (IG), Usman Baba Alkali, and the Director General, State Services DGSS, Yusuf Magaji Bichi, accusing the State Governor, Yahaya Bello, of undue harassment.

In a letter signed and dated October 26, 2022, which was obtained by Quest Times on Thursday, the PDP was told to vacate the secretariat on grounds of security as claimed by the Council boss of Okene Local Government, Abdulrazaq Muhammed Yusuf.

“As part of measure to rejig our security architecture, you are by this notice given one week (7 days) to vacate your proposed party (PDP) secretariat in Okene.

“The decision was formed by what the security committee considered as the proximity of your proposed party secretariat as a threat to some critical infrastructures like: the Ebira Central Mosque and the Council (Okene) Secretariat which when the political activities heat up, it will disturb the peaceful activities in the vicinities.

“Let me state emphatically that, the council is not taking this decision as a ploy to dabble into your party affairs and our action must not be misconstrued as such,” the letter read.

PoliticsLagos 2023: I’m Not Depending Solely On Peter Obi To Win — Gbadebo by joy4news(op): 9:34am On Oct 25, 2022
The governorship candidate of the Labour party in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, on Monday said he is not depending solely on the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to win the governorship contest in 2023.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Gbadebo also said there is no accountability to the people of the state in how tax revenues are expended.

The 39-year-old will face-off against incumbent Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress and Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate Olajide Adediran in next year’s elections.

Asked if he will win the election without the Peter Obi factor in the State, Gbadebo answered; “I’m not relying on him (Peter Obi) solely, we are building structures, motivating people to get onboard, and also working with Peter Obi. These are all factors that are being put together.”

For long hours up until 1am this morning, October 11, President Muhammadu Buhari was still personally signing award certificates for close to 500 Nigerians and foreigners who he decorated today with national honours in Abuja.

Authoritative sources hinted Quest Times that although the President had approved an initial list of Nigerians to be honoured, the list had to be increased at the last minute.

In fact in his speech, President Buhari urged many other deserving Nigerians who were not named for the awards this time to be patient, adding that their time would soon come.

It was also learnt that the President had to stay awake all night yesterday up till 1am today, personally signing the certificates that go with the awards most of which also came with medals and epaulettes.

For 7 years, the President had refused to confer the national honours because he is of the view that previous conferment may have been bastardised.

The only exception was in 2018 when the highest national honours–Grand Commander of the Federal Republic, GCFR, was posthumously conferred on the late Chief M.K.O Abiola, the winner of the annulled June 12, 1993 elections.

At the time, both Chief Gani Fawehinmi and Ambassador Baba Gana Kingibe were also honoured with the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger, GCON–all in relation to the June 12 saga.

Politics5 Times Peter Obi Was Awarded Best Performing Governor In Nigeria by joy4news(op): 1:06pm On Oct 11, 2022
Peter Obi, a long-shot presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) has unexpectedly taken the lead in the race to become president of Africa’s most populous country and its biggest economy.

In Nigerian politics, Peter Obi (Okwute) commands attention as a silent achiever, a frugal manager, a meticulous capitalist and a cerebral technocrat who problematises Nigeria’s ratcheting woes and offers solutions.

As the running mate of Atiku Abubakar in the 2019 presidential election, he became a major talking point more than the major players for dissecting global economies and drawing analogies with Nigeria’s, especially how the struggling Nigerian economy can benefit from the magic wands of the behemoths.

Below are 5 times the Labour Party flag-bearer was awarded best performing governor in Nigeria;

1. 2012: Best Performing Governor on Immunisation in South-East Nigeria – by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

Politics‘Attack On Our People’, Kogi Government Reacts As Fire Guts Assembly Building by joy4news(op): 1:39pm On Oct 10, 2022
The controversy over the ownership of the Obajana Cement Company took a sad twist in the wee hours of Monday, as arsonists stormed the State House of Assembly Complex and set it on fire.

The arsonists were suspected to have been sent to burn the Complex in an attempt to possibly destroy evidence relating to the ownership tussle between the Kogi State Government and the Dangote Group over the Obajana Cement Company.

The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, who had released a statement on Sunday, asking Dangote to come clean on the issue, expressed sadness over the recent turn of event, wondering how a business concern would go this low in an effort to twist history.

He called on security agencies to investigate the matter, pointing out that there was enough credible intelligence to show that the target of the arsonists was to destroy evidence relating to ongoing investigations on the Kogi-Dangote face-off over the ownership of Obajana Cement Company.

In a related development, security agents attached to the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, foiled an attempt to attack his home, an incident that had never happened before, according to him.

The hoodlums, however, escaped with gunshot wounds.

When contacted, Fanwo accused Alhaji Aliko Dangote of “playing dirty and dangerous” over the Obajana saga, saying, “The resolve of the State Government to defend the people’s rights cannot be broken”.

“The State House of Assembly was set on fire this morning. Remember we exposed plans to attack the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly with fake soldiers yesterday.

“Having discovered that we exposed their satanic plans against the Speaker, they changed tactics to go and burn down the Kogi State House of Assembly. This is an attack on our institution and our people.

“Burning down our Assembly Complex will only further fuel our resolve to right the wrongs of the past. We will take back what legally belongs to us,” he said.

Politics2023: Obidient Lagos Rally Better Than APC’s, Okupe Boasts by joy4news(op): 10:46am On Oct 10, 2022
Doyin Okupe, Director-General of the Peter Obi presidential campaign, has described the Lagos rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as insignificant in comparison to that of the Labour Party (LP).

Quest Times had earlier reported Musiliu Akinsanya, chairman of the Lagos state parks and garages management committee, better known as MC Oluomo, convened a “five million-man” rally in support of Bola Tinubu, the APC standard bearer.

The solidarity rally came one week after LP supporters organised similar rallies in different parts of Lagos.

Reacting, Okupe during Channels TV’s Sunday Politics programme, said opposition parties are playing “catch-up” to LP, adding that forensic analysis of videos from the APC rally showed that some participants were imported from other South-West States.

His words;

“I want to congratulate the APC for the efforts made today. What you saw was not a Lagos rally. We are a very sophisticated group — a group driven by and powered by youths.

“We have done a forensic of the tape of the rally in our laboratory. We found out that… I personally can recognise about four or five people from my federal constituency, others can recognise people from Oyo, Osun, etc.

“What you saw this morning was a South-West rally, not really a Lagos rally. If you give it as a Lagos rally, it is just a fair comparison with what happened in Festac.

“You will recall that the October 1, LP rally by Obidients took place in an unprecedented and organic manner in Lekki, Festac, Ikeja and Surulere — in four different locations.

PoliticsWhy We Closed Dangote Refinery — Kogi Government by joy4news(op): 11:33am On Oct 08, 2022
Amid the ongoing crisis over the ownership of the Obajana cement plant, Kogi State Government has revealed the reason for closing Dangote Refinery situated in the State.

The Kogi State House of Assembly had on Wednesday, October 5, ordered the shutdown of a factory of Dangote Cement Plc situated at Obajana in the north-central state, saying the asset was not legitimately acquired by the firm.

Resident youth thronged the factory to drive out staff after the news of its closure order broke into the open but faced resistance from officials of the state government.

Chief among their grievances is alleged corporate social responsibility failure by Dangote Cement bordering on environmental hazards from industrial pollution induced by factory activities and neglect of the host community it is “making billions from.”

PoliticsRevealed: Tinubu Travelled Abroad To Avoid Signing Peace Accord With Shaky Hands by joy4news(op): 1:16pm On Oct 07, 2022
The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential flagbearer Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu chose to travel outside of the country to avoid the embarrassment of his hands shaking while signing the Peace Accord.

Informed APC sources confirmed this to Quest Times yesterday as the former Lagos State Governor returned to the country after a sudden travel out to the UK just few days to the appointed date to sign the accord publicly.

His traveling at that point was deliberate on the part of Tinubu knowing that there would be the full media glare with tonnes of press and pereonal cameras ready to capture the image of him struggling with signing the papers.

“Such a video would go viral and be a bonanza to his opponents to demonstrate his weakness. Remember that viral videos exists already of his shaky hands as he was reading his acceptance speech in June after winning the primaries,” an APC source recalled.

As the 2023 political campaign gradually gains momentum, at least 18 sitting governors are behind the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, according to the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, revealed Wednesday in a statement made available to journalists.

Although he declined to name the governors, Isiguzoro revealed that a number of the country’s past leaders were also backing Obi’s candidature.

He disclosed that the governors cut across different political platforms, adding that the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and other political parties, were already afraid of the development.

Ohanaeze, while hailing the courage and the determination of Nigerians who are trooping out in the different parts of the country in support of Peter Obi, urged that the momentum be sustained.

“As we speak, about 18 governors from the North and the South, cutting across party lines, are behind the scenes putting up structures for Obi to win the 2023 election. In addition, some former Presidents and elder statesmen are in support of Obi’s candidature.

“They are all convinced that Obi has something different from all the other candidates.

“We are glad that for the first time in the recent past, Nigerians are united in the dethronement of misgovernance in Aso Rock. They are determined to make a political change through the ballot box with a third force presidency.

“This is the first time we are seeing such a strong political movement in Nigeria that is not being sponsored by politicians, rather the masses own the project.

“You have seen the mass movement across the country and beyond; you have seen even children, the persons with special needs, the aged, everyone is part of this movement,” he revealed.

Checks by Quest Times revealed the name of the self-styled Labour Party gubernatorial candidate for Lagos Ifagbemi Awamaridi was missing in the list while INEC published his rival Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour as the authentic Labour Party candidate for the 2023 gubernatorial election in the State.

Awamaridi had faulted the primary that produced Gbadebo as the Labour Party candidate for Lagos, saying the substitution primary was “illegal”.

“People we say what they want to say, but we are aware that the man (Tinubu) needed a few days off because the pressure on him is a bit too much, and needed to rest because the campaign is pretty long,” he said.

Politics2023: Osinbajo Better Than Tinubu As APC Candidate — Utomi by joy4news(op): 10:56pm On Sep 26, 2022
A chieftain of the Labour Party, Professor Patrick Utomi has stated that the All Progressives Congress, APC, made a mistake by dumping Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and fielding an ailing person to be the flag-bearer of the party come the 2023 presidential election.

Utomi stated this while appearing on Channels TV’s Politics Today, monitored by Quest Times on Monday.

According to him, Osinbajo should have been better for APC and not Bola Tinubu who he considers as being “weak” and “unfit” for president.

“Tinubu is not fit, physically you can see he is ailing, you can see it, let’s be true to ourselves, let him go through a medical that will be made public in Nigeria,” he said.

However, when asked to speak on the support of Afenifere for the Obi/Datti ticket, Prof Utomi said he wasn’t surprised when the association announced its support for Obi/Datti, noting that Afenifere was built on moral principles, equity, fairness, and inclusiveness.

He stated that Afenifere has moral authority and has an alliance with PADEF, Middle Belt groups, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, and has all it takes to make Obi/Datti win the forthcoming election.
