The lawmaker representing Kogi Central senatorial district, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has expressed her determination to serve everyone irrespective of their political differences. The lawmaker assured them of her maximum support, promising to address their concerns when the need arises. Federal High Court, Maitama, Abuja, has remanded Ali Bello, a nephew of Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, and one Dauda Sulaiman in prison pending the fulfilment of their bail conditions. They were arraigned before Justice James Kolawole Omotosho, alongside one Abdulsalami Hudu, Cashier of Kogi State House Administration (now at large) on a 10-count charge of misappropriation and money laundering. This was disclosed in a statement signed Thursday by the spokesperson of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), Wilson Uwujaren. Jemilu Akpah, a physically challenged ex-corps member could not hide his excitement after he was offered automatic employment by the Kogi State government in July 2022. Akpah, an English and Literary graduate from Kogi State University (KSU), was given automatic employment based on a “compassionate ground” alongside Mary Aimuan from Edo state, who won the prestigious NYSC State Merit Award. Barely 5 months after he was promised automatic employment by the State Governor at the passing out parade of the Batch B Stream I corps members in Lokoja, Akpah who spoke to Quest Times in an exclusive interview on Saturday said all efforts to get his appointment letter proved abortive as he was denied access to the governor. “The governor (Yahaya Bello) on July 7, 2022, gave me automatic employment with immediate effect. I was called on a fateful day, July 22 to be precise, to come for my appointment letter. “I was directed to the office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) where I waited for several hours to no avail. I couldn’t see the SSG. Since then I haven’t heard from them (Kogi State Government). “All my efforts to see the governor who promised me the automatic employment proved abortive as I was denied access to him by the security personnel at the entrance. I don’t really have political connection if not I would have been able to see him (Yahaya Bello),” he said. When asked if the governor was aware of his present predicament, he said; “I’m not sure he is aware since he was the one that called on us to come and collect our employment letter on the 22nd of July which I honoured. “Whereas, I was told that I should have gone to the Head of Service (HoS) office instead of the SSG. It was after my several attempts that the woman at the SSG office told me it is a permanent employment (not political) that I should have gone to the HoS which I obliged. This was two months after the completion of my service.” According to him, the Commissioner of Sports collected all his details and necessary documents but yet he has not been given employment letter. Labour Party (LP) has described the recent corruption allegation purportedly rocking the party as “mere social media lies” orchestrated by the opposition to discredit the ‘OBIdient Movement’. Ogun State Executive Council of the party had on Thursday, December 1, expelled the Director-General of Peter Obi- Datti Presidential Campaign Council, Dr Doyin Okupe, and 11 others for refusing to pay their membership dues, among other corruption allegations. Also, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Arabambi Abayomi, in a recent interview, alleged a grand conspiracy against him by the Doyin Okupe-led group in the party, he has also vowed to expose him (Okupe) and other members of the party involved in the alleged diversion of funds meant to prosecute the party’s presidential election. Reacting, the National Secretary of the Party, Alhaji Umar Ibrahim, who spoke exclusively in a telephone conversation with Quest Times on Friday, debunked the allegations for “lacking substantial proof”. “Social media can insinuate a lot of things. They (the opposition) can raise issues that are non-issues at all. So, any allegation whatever about the Campaign DG is a totally false narrative put up by our opponents, having seen the rising force with the emergence of our presidential candidate (Peter Obi). “They (opposition) are now coming out to disintegrate the party (LP), blackmail its leaders and candidates. I want to tell you that what you are hearing or seeing written by one of those media are just lies and should be disregarded,” he said. On the implication of these allegations on the party ahead of the 2023 elections, he said; “You know PDP also had the same issue with its party chairman who was alleged to have squandered billions of naira and the same go to the presidential candidate of APC (Bola Tinubu) who was alleged to have submitted a false certificate to INEC and this doesn’t affect them in any way. “So, what of this news (corruption allegation) that some people just bring that they cannot even substantiate? There is no implication.” In similar development, Quest Times spoke to one of the Labour party chieftains in Lagos who shed more light on the recent crisis in the party. According to him, the corruption allegation was a make-believe put up by some party members in Ogun to get back at the party’s campaign DG. “These are internal party antics. Arabambi has been a problem to the party. They were the same people who came to install Salako and co. So, they have been a source of problem for all of us. “They are only trying to get back at Okupe for not dancing to their tune. There is no corruption in the party. They decided to create an imaginary corruption to be able to suspend him (Okupe) from Ogun Labour Party Chapter. “This doesn’t have any effect on him as being the DG of the OBIDATTI Campaign. He was only expelled from the party in Ogun. Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has refuted claims by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senatorial candidate for Kogi Central in the 2023 election, Chief (Mrs) Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, that he sponsored publications to defame the latter. Quest Times had reported that Natasha, in a suit filed by Falana & Falana’s Chambers, sought ₦5 billion in damages from the Kogi Governor. Recall the governor had asked security agencies to invite the Senatorial candidate following claims of terrorism in the State. According to the lawyer, the derogatory remarks made against her by Yahaya Bello are totally false and injurious to her person in the eyes of the public. She also demanded an order directing Yahaya Bello to retract the statements. Reacting, Governor Bello, in a court document dated Wednesday, November 30, which was exclusively obtained by Quest Times, denied all the allegations made by Natasha in her statement of claim adding that the court should dismiss the suit for “being baseless, incompetent, vexatious, and cannot be supported by facts or law”. “Without prejudice to the objection of the jurisdiction of the Honourable Court and save and except as hereinafter expressly stated and admitted, the 1st (Kogi State Government) & 3rd (Mr Kingsley Fanwo) defendants deny each and every allegation of fact contained in the claimant’s statement of claim as if same were set out traversed seriatim. “The 1st – 3rd (Kogi State Government, Yahaya Bello & Mr Kingsley Fanwo) defendants deny paragraphs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, and 24 of the claimant’s statement of claim and shall at trial put the plaintiff to strictest proof thereof,” the court document partly read. https://www.thequesttimes.com/drama-as-yahaya-bello-makes-u-turn-denies-defaming-natasha/

As Nigerians prepare for the 2023 elections, some politicians have started mapping out plans to rig the outcome of the polls, Quest Times can authoritatively report. Despite the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) assuring Nigerians of its commitment to a credible poll, there are ongoing plans by political parties to bypass the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), among other rigging strategies devised to compromise the electoral process. Quest Times findings reveal that a powerful politician has successfully compromised key lCT staff members of INEC to manipulate the BVAS during election day. How BVAS works BVAS is a new technology devised by INEC to read Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and authenticate voters – using the voters’ fingerprints – to prove that they are eligible to vote at a particular polling unit. Hence, it guides against over-voting and reduces fraud in the electoral system. Its usage entails either scanning the barcode/QR code on the PVC/Voter’s register or entering the last six digits of the Voter Identity Number or typing in the last name of the voter by the Assistant Presiding Officer (APO 1) to verify and authenticate the voter. Plans by politicians to bypass BVAS A top reliable source in one of the leading political parties in Nigeria revealed that there is a well-orchestrated plan to bribe INEC staff, especially those that work on the backend to compromise the system. “I can authoritatively confirm to you that some politicians have concluded plans to bypass BVAS. They have gone as far as paying ICT guys working for INEC to manipulate the device to discourage the voters during the election. “The idea is to allow the BVAS to malfunction while voting is in progress. For instance, if voters are allowed to vote manually due to the BVAS failure, it would be easy for the political parties to manipulate the process.” The source added; “Some questionable provisions in INEC 2022 Regulations & Guidelines will be used by presiding officers for the 2023 election to create room for the court to determine the final outcome of the 2023 elections. Such questionable provisions are Rule 19. E(lV) which says a voter should “mark” on the Ballot paper instead of using “thumbprint”.” According to the source, marking a ballot paper instead of a thumbprint is “a recipe for rigging”. “An individual recruited by political actors and given a ballot booklet can use a pen or pencil to mark as many ballot papers as possible. “Besides, if a pen or pencil rather than a thumbprint is allowed, can a forensic exercise be carried out to determine whether it was just an individual that marked a large number of ballots? “It is unlikely to detect, unlike fingerprints that a forensic machine can examine on ballot papers and determine whether it was just an individual or a few individuals who put thumbprints on ballot papers. “The question is whether a thumbprint or any mark on the box of a party’s logo also represents the intention of a voter insofar as the mark is clearly on the party’s logo. “Also, there is the additional provision of Rule 20, which provides for a voter that even failed to pass through the five methods of identification for accreditation to be ticked/marked on the same manual register with successful accredited voters. “For those who wonder why this additional leeway is provided by officials of INEC in the guidelines, it should be noted that it is a loophole created by influential politicians using their leverage in INEC to dilute the Electoral Act. This is a recipe to bypass BVAS and claim that it failed.” Cloning PVCs Quest Times findings further revealed that politicians have started cloning Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to enable ineligible voters to cast their votes during the 2023 election — a claim INEC had refuted for lacking basis. “Some of these politicians have access to INEC registration machines and also conduct their registration process, this time, not with human beings, they used hundreds of thousands of computer-generated photos and faces, passport photographs, calendars, photo albums and any human faces they could lay their filthy hands on, including outside the country, especially in Africa. “For instance, you will see someone with a man’s picture but having a female gender as his designation and vice-versa,” another source told Quest Times. Aishat Oyiza, the wife of Ibrahim Fari Shafiu, one of the persons arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) at Trademore Estate at Lugbe Abuja in October, is begging for the release of her husband after 31 days in detention. Aishat said she has not been given access to see or talk to her husband and her brother since they were arrested in October. She lamented that since her husband’s arrest and detention, the DSS has not taken him to court or given him access to a lawyer. Aishat said her National Youth Service Corps programme has been put on hold due to the incident. She lamented that her brother, Yusuf Abdulrahman, a business administration student of Nasarawa Polytechnic, who was also taken away by the security operatives, has been missing out on his studies. She accused Kogi State government of been responsible for the abduction of her husband. Noting that the only people her husband had a problem with is the Kogi State Governor and his Chief of Staff. Aishat, explained that her husband organised a program recently tagged ‘Say No to Violence in Egbira Land’. After the program, he started receiving threats from Kogi State Government, after which he defected to PDP. She said, “I have not been able to see or talk to my husband and my brother since they were arrested 26 days ago. They have refused to take them to court or give them access to a lawyer. “On the 3rd of November 2022, Abu Muazu Esq of F. S. Jimba & Co went to inquire about them and he was told by the DSS officials that they are going to call for family or lawyer to come and bail them from Friday, November 4, 2022 to Monday, November 7, 2022. “So on Monday, I went with the lawyer to the DSS office for follow-up since we did not get any call from my brother and his in-law. “They denied us entry into the DSS premises from the gate at the mention of his name. We heard that they have transferred them from the DSS state facility in Asokoro to their headquarters in Maitama. We went there but they didn’t allow us to enter. “My National Youth Service Corps programme is on hold since I can’t access my phone where I have my call-up code. Lagos Island is set to come alive this December as Mountain of Fire Ministries (MFM) is set to unveil 25 gospel artistes on December 4, 2022. The music concert tagged “The Psalmist Concerts” is the maiden edition, and it will feature Holy Ghost Meeting, Word, Worship, Healing, and other spirit-filled activities for the spiritual nourishment of the participants. Pius Oragwu, administrator and chairman, MFM Praise Worship Association disclosed this at a press briefing held at the MFM headquarters in Lagos on Tuesday, November 22. Oragwu, who represented Dr. Daniel Olukoya, MFM General Overseer, said the 25 artistes from across the 36 States of the federation will have their albums officially released at the event slated to hold at the Eko Hotels, Lagos. The event aims to take many hopeless youths out of the streets and also improve the lives of the citizenry. “When you consider hunger, poverty, insecurity, and other things, you will find out that the Nigerian masses need encouragement and comfort, they need hope. “Also, we see this as a source of hope and comfort together with God’s words as far as Nigeria’s situation is concerned. “These songs are not mentioned for MFM alone but for the body of Christ and the world at large. “We thank God for our Father in the Lord Dr. Daniel Olukoya for creating this platform. Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday, suffered a gaffe at the party’s presidential campaign flag-off in Jos, the Plateau state capital. Award-winning investigative journalist, David Hundeyin has challenged the spokesperson of All Progressive Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Festus Keyamo to a 7-minute open debate following allegations that a US District Court indicted his principal Bola Tinubu for drug dealings and money laundering. The certified US court judgment documents Tuesday, November 8, surfaced and have been making the rounds on the internet. The certified court documents indicated that Tinubu was a drug lord who entered a plea bargain in which he voluntarily agreed to forfeit his assets to American authorities in 1993 instead of going to trial. Reacting to the circulation of the documents, Festus Keyamo in an interview with Channels Television’s Politics Today Wednesday, denied the allegations, adding that Tinubu was not the treasurer of a narcotics group as being speculated. “There can not be an indictment if Asiwaju is not a defender or was not a defendant in that case. “I repeat it for the umpteenth time, I don’t want to sound like a broken record here. Asiwaju was not a party to that case. “It was just an account that was sued, not him. It was an account in his name that was sued so how could you indict him if there was no account?” he stated. In a counter-attack, Hundeyin, who had in July likened the APC presidential candidate to a world-class drug lord, Pablo Escobar in his viral article, “Bola Ahmed Tinubu: From Drug Lord To Presidential Candidate”, faulted Keyamo’s defense for lacking merit. As Kogi govt demands N37.5 million for campaign posters Ahead of the 2023 elections, the Kogi State Government, under the leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello, has demanded the sum of N37.5 million as payment for billboards and campaign posters from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State. In a letter dated October 24, 2022, and issued by the Kogi State Internal Revenue, senatorial candidates are to pay N6million, while House of Representatives candidates are to pay N9million. Similarly, those wishing to contest for the State House of Assembly are to pay N12.5 million. “Pursuant to the provisions of the Kogi State Signage and Advancement Law (KOSSAL), 2022, and other extant laws, we present in the table below (photo attached) the obligations of your party (PDP) to Kogi State Government on signage fee in respect of campaign posters and flyers of your candidates contesting various elective offices in the forthcoming 2023 general elections. “Consequently, we hereby demand the payment of N37, 500, 000 within fourteen (14) days of the receipt of this letter,” the letter read. Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, says without him the likes of Adams Oshiomhole (Edo former governor); Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti former governor), and Rauf Aregbesola (Osun former governor) would have not been governors. According to him, his declaration as governor became a precedent for the trio who also got their mandate through court rulings, and wouldn’t have been possible if he had not challenged the rascality then. The former governor of Anambra disclosed this on Sunday during the Arise TV Town Hall meeting that hosted presidential candidates from four political parties (PDP, LP, NNPP and PRP) in Abuja. In his introduction, Peter Obi said; “I served for 8 years as governor of Anambra. I had remarkable things that happened in my transition into politics. I was the first governor to be declared through the court because when I contested the election, somebody else was declared and I went to court and challenged it. “And for three years, I was declared (the legitimate) winner. Six months into being governor, I was impeached. I went to court again and I challenged the rascality and I became the second person to come back in this country (Nigeria) as a governor from impeachment. “And five months after that, by then again my tenure was terminated by an election that was supposed to not exist and I went back to court and established the tenure of governors which has restructured Nigerian election till date. “Without me, the likes of Oshiomhole, Fayemi, and Aregbesola won’t be governors. The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu and his counterpart in Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar were both missing at the ongoing Presidential Town Hall meeting in Abuja. However, the PDP candidate was represented by his running mate, Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa. Among those in attendance are Peter Obi of the Labour Party; Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, (NNPP) and presidential candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party, Kola Abiola. The trio all attended the event in person. Democracy and Development (CDD) in collaboration with Arise TV had earlier invited four (4) of Nigeria’s 18 presidential candidates to a ‘presidential town hall’ to talk about their plans for Nigerians. It was like a Nollywood drama as a swarm of bees on Saturday disrupted a rally organised by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi. In a video obtained by Quest Times, some APC supporters were seen scampering for safety while others were using their brooms to chase the bees away. The APC had organised a road walk in Ihima, Okene to campaign for all candidates of the party from the area. Some members of the Labour Party in Lagos on Thursday staged a peaceful protest against the alleged imposition of Kayode Salako as chairman of the party in the State. Recall a support group under the auspices of Grassroots Mobilisation 2023 Movement had in September, 2022, alleged Salako is working for Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC in Lagos. “Labour Party Chairman in Lagos Kayode Salako is working for Tinubu. We must root him out of the party,” the group was quoted as saying. The protest was held after the launching of the book titled: “The Challenges of Good Governance and Leadership in Nigeria; The Peter Obi Factor” at Welcome Centre Hotel in Lagos. The protesters, who stormed the venue, called on the national chairman of the party, Julius Abure loyal to remove Salako as the Lagos Labour Party chairman with immediate effect. They displayed placards with various inscriptions such as ‘Salako Must Go’, ‘We ’, ‘It’s unconstitutional to impose chairman on Lagos Labour Party, and ‘Abure stop disrespecting NLC & TUC, they gave birth to Labour Party’ among others. The leader of the protesters, identified simply as Omoba, alleged Mr. Salako is working for Tinubu while calling on the national chairman to do the right thing by “approving the list of inclusive executives (caretaker leaders) he requested from the State Leadership”. “All we (aggrieved members) are asking for is that Salako should leave Lagos Labour Party. We are calling on the National Chairman whom Salako claimed that he appointed him in person of Julius Abure to do the right thing. “Salako’s tenure has expired and we no longer recognise him as our leader. We have a leader (Tony Masha) who is trustworthy and has managed the crisis in the party so far. “Our major fight is that Salako and other APC moles should leave Labour Party. He (Salako) who is claiming to be chairman of Labour Party has a wife whose name appears in APC Campaign Council list.
