Security operatives on Thursday, mounted heavy presence at the venue of the special state congress of the APC to select its governorship candidate for 2023 general election in Lagos State. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) report that the APC Governorship special congress is holding at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, formerly known as Onikan Stadium on Lagos Island. The security personnel were strategically positioned at various entrances and within the premises of the venue. Several patrol vehicles and Armoured Personnel Carrier were also stationed at the access roads leading to the venue. Some of the security agencies personnel at the venue included the Nigeria Police, Department of State Security (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Police Bomb Squad and Private Security. NAN reports that the special state congress had started with accreditation of ad hoc delegates from the 20 Local Government Areas of the state as at the time of filing this report. Members of the electoral committee for the primary were around and delegates were moving around, expecting the voting to begin. Speaking to NAN, Mr Ademola Sadiq, the Chairman of the Accreditation Sub-Committee for the Governorship Primary Support Committee, said that he was impressed by the peaceful and smooth accreditation ahead of the election. “The accreditation has been so well organised and some local government ad hoc delegates are only expecting two or delegates to be completely cleared. “On the whole we are 1,225 delegates. Hopefully, by my estimation, we have attended to about 800 people so we are expecting just some few lo a government right now. “In another 20 minutes we should be able to be done with accreditation,” Sadiq said. He also expressed the hope that the exercise would be successful. “I am expecting outstanding success of the primaries. We are lucky because the number of delegates have bee prune down because of the non-signing of the Electoral Act amendment (by President Buhari Muhammadu). “We just have 1225, so within two hours, all of them should be able to vote and we disperse,” the chairman told NAN. NAN reports that apart from the incumbent, Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who is seeking reelection ticket, two other aspirants in the race were former Commissioners in the state, Wale Oluwo and AbdulAhmed Mustapha. |
As the election fever continues to grow colder and harsher on some aspirants, information has emerged that some power brokers in the opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP, have asked delegates to capture on camera how they voted in what was supposed to be a secret ballot. The PDP is currently (May 25, 26) conducting its primaries across the federation to pick its candidates for various elective positions in the coming 2023 elections. While it openly chose the secret ballot system which allows delegates to vote for their choice aspirants privately, the aspirants, particularly governors in PDP states have instructed delegates to use their phones secretly at the poll. A verifiable source told Quest Times that because of the ‘heavy investments’ some of the aspirants, particularly governors have made, they wanted to be sure there would be no surprises when the final results are announced. Already, some aspirants have been left with red faces after spending heavily in dollars on delegates but still couldn’t clinch the party ticket. Son of former Vice President Namadi Sambo was a victim of such ‘bad investment’ on delegates. Report has it that he asked for a refund in hundreds of millions from the delegates. Another aspirant in Cross River has also cried for a refund of N21 million given to delegates after losing out in the PDP governorship race. Also, governorship aspirant in Kaduna and former Senator Shehu Sani of the PDP confirmed via his verified Twitter handle how aspirants were going overboard to recover money given to delegates after losing out. “A man who has lost the House of reps ticket in Kaduna has recovered over N100million from Delegates this evening using vigilantes and hunters. “Some aspirants are moving house to house arresting delegates who collected their money and didn’t vote for them.” https://www.thequesttimes.com/how-pdp-governors-asked-delegates-capture-votes-justify-money-received/

Cheating has been an overstretched topic, especially in recent times where news of celebs and their baby mamas have been a regular commodity in the news. Cheating is unisex; both men and women cheat but attention seems to be more on the former. Men and women may cheat for very different reasons, licensed marriage, and family, therapist Shane Birkel, LMFT, explains. But he notes that it's likely more due to the way men and women are socialised than any innate differences between them. He adds that the more we as a society move away from that socialisation and away from patriarchy, the less we're seeing those gendered differences in cheating behaviour. Nonetheless, as of right now, some research does show that men are more likely to cheat than women, with 20% of men admitting to cheating compared to 13% of women. One may wonder why men cheat, along with what defines cheating, signs to watch out for, and what to do if infidelity has infiltrated your relationship. Many of these behaviours might apply to people of all genders, but they can be relevant to men. From your perspective on the subject matter, what reason do you think makes men to cheat on their wives? I would like the men in the house to shed more light on this thread. Waiting for our responses. |

She was alleged to to have made the inciting remarks on Prophet Mohammed in a WhatsApp group she belonged to Police delayed rescue operation A source in Sokoto told Church Times that the lady could have been saved if the police had acted promptly when her safety was not certain. The source who was at the scene of the incident said immediately it was obvious the mob was determined to kill her the security officials of the school took custody of her. “The security men kept her and shielded her from the mob. “They then invited the police. But the police did not make any move. They did not get to the school until the mob overpowered the school security and dragged the lady out before stoning her. If the police had come in time they would have saved her from being killed.” The source said the police should be investigated if the government is sincere about getting to the root of the matter. “It is clear to me that they intentionally allowed the lady to be killed because they all believe she deserved to die. This is really unfortunate. As it is, we are not sure if the incident will not repeat itself. “There is nothing a Christian says that is right before some fanatical Muslim.. It is not about whether the lady made a blasphemous statement. Beyond that, you don’t really know what statement to make that will ignite their anger.” https://churchtimesnigeria.net/sokoto-lady-murdered/

The United Nations Children Fund, UNICEF, yesterday raised the alarm over 10 million girl child were out of school in Nigeria. Chief of UNICEF Field Office in Kano, Rahama Farah, raised the alarm at a Media Dialogue on Girls’ Education under the Girls’ Education Project, GEP, 3, funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, FCDO, and implemented by UNICEF. Farah said the 10 million represents 60 per cent of the 18.5 million total number of out of school children in the country, claiming that the majority of the out of school children were from northern Nigeria. According to him, “Currently in Nigeria there are 18.5 million out of school children, 60 per cent of these out of school children are girls – that is over 10 million girls are out of school. “Most importantly, you will need to know that the majority of these out of school children are actually from northern Nigeria. “This situation heightens the gender inequity, where only one in four girls from poor, rural families complete Junior Secondary school education. "The situation with girls’ education in Nigeria has been further affected by attacks on schools. These attacks have created an insecure learning environment, discouraged parents and caregivers from sending their children to schools, while at the same time the students themselves become fearful of going to school. These attacks have particularly and specifically targeted girls.” https://www.vanguardngr.com/2022/05/over-10m-girls-out-of-school-in-nigeria-unicef/

Having listened to a radio programme earlier this week, I thought it wise to hear from the horse's mouth on the subject matter I'm about to share with you. While going home from work on Monday, a radio presenter was anchoring a show 'Men's corner', an educative and informative programme for the male folks which I consider interesting for women who seek knowledge, especially in men's health and physiology. During the conversation, the guest who is an expert in the field of sexology emphatically said and I quote "men should at least ejaculate 21 days in a month" and I was like... how many days come remain? Back to my niggas in the house, how many times do you think a responsible man should ejaculate in a month? Biko, be sincere with your answers Waiting for our responses. |
