plaetton:First what happened to the banks is the business of the banks not ours, the banker's nose was cut not ours so get that part cleared. Nigerian banks don't create credit so bringing in Japan into the mix is just mischievous, when the MPR was just 12% the banks were lending at 21-25% what kinda credit comes at 25%? meanwhile Japan's lending rate is hovering between 1-2.5%, so my question is, does the Nigerian bank deserve the money in the first place? They use high interest rates to suffocate borrowers in the real sectors of the economy, then buy up TBN at ridiculous rates, then manage to invest in Politically exposed persons & cronies is that what you call banking? You have clearly admitted that the Nigerian banks have no clue how to attract idle funds, isn't that supposed to be shameful? You want the Central bank of Nigeria to pump liquidity into the banks so that you will offer your customers fix deposit at 4% and return the rest to the CBN through TBN sales at 17% abi? Buhari has taught you guys a lesson. Why can't that Liquidity be pumped into Ajaokuta steel complex through Government intervention funds? that is the real sector that need the funds not the kalo kalo banks. Why can't we pump it into Dangote's refinery project to increase his refining capacity from 600,000bbls to 1.2m? Most of you interest groups put unnecessary pressure on the government for pecuniary gains even when the Government does the right thing for our common good. When next a bank wants to charge ridiculous amount on savings accounts, it will remember that the account is the last chance of securing idle funds. How many successful businesses have the so called banks supported? but Zenith will vomit billions to sponsor Fayose's election, God don catch una. No more free money, if you need it by all means work for it like everyone else. |
MadamExcellency:This is a vague statement that is not worthy of note yet, so i will lock up my note pad, before I bring it out, answer the following questions; Was your husband's friend working for a multinational NAIL company before he was disengaged? |
MadamExcellency:Indigenous oil companies are mere middle men, they have no technology to implement, if the need arises, the technology owners will implement it and get paid. |
shadeyinka:Funny enough, the Shell operating in Nigeria have no technology to share with you, SGS who is the custodian of Shell's technology have no business in Nigeria or anywhere else, stop hoping. |
shadeyinka:Those middle men would have contributed to the distribution chain so don't blame them, just like someone said, the Government need to set the atmosphere for business to thrive, if the MM bought the yam at 90naira per tuber and the MM have to cross 5 states each waiting to collect revenue for doing nothing after he has bought diesel at 200naira per liter, how on earth do you expect him not to hike prices? |
plaetton:The bold part can only come from a banker, TSA is wrong because the government decided to remove its funds from the banks abi? What has the banks contributed to manufacturing since being in charge of the funds? You forget that banks are private businesses why should government funds be there in the first place? Abi na only banks dey do business in Nigeria? Don't you think that Ibeto and Dangote deserve to have government funds too? Banks should devise modalities to attract idle funds not depending on the governmnet, there is no country in the world where Government funds make money for banks while the real sectors decay, you guys should grow up and do real banking not whining about awoof money. |

shadeyinka:it is easy to forget that oil that sustained us for over 40yrs was actually thought out and implemented by persons who had foresight, Low crude price does not mean that Nigeria failed from history, that is absolute hog wash. we only failed to educate people over the years, we bred a huge population of charlatans without reasoning ability, that seed was replicated in our leaders who led successive governments, don't forget that the politicians represent the quality of the people who make up the society. |
nabiz:Excellent!! step one, create a manufacturing atmosphere to guarantee competitive products outside Nigeria. |
MadamExcellency:It's actually reverse engineering not re-engineering, that is stealing like the man you quoted stated, no sane person in the world transfers his technology, it has never happened. Again even if you work for a foreign company, the trade secret is with R& and most foreign companies in Nigeria have their R& offshore, so you as an employer is an instrument of implementing solutions, but where the solution came from will elude you even if you serve the company for 50yrs.Coca cola has bottling companies littered everywhere, who has the concentration formula of coca-cola even in those bottling companies? Again you have the issue of Patent to contend with while considering Technology transfer. It is not really a piece of cake. When you get the technology, you have the issue of raw materials to deal with, let me give you a few global examples. Till the US sanctioned Russia few years ago, all the rocket engines utilized in the US are all Russia made, the mighty US? can you beat that? The silicon Valley of the US is depending on 80% chinese raw materials surprised huh!! Adolf hitler got the E=MC2 formula before the US but guess who made the first Nuclear bomb? US because Germany had no access to plutonium even though he has the technology to enrish one, you see my friend, even the countries you are looking up to are actually looking up to each other, the real world doesn't run on the personal feelings of most Nigerians. |
1. Technology transferWho does that in the real world? 2. ModernizationToo vague!! 3. Provision of EmploymentHow ![]() 4. Risk sharing (Joint venture partnerships)Which sector? 5. Bringing out the best potential out of our Local Industries that are bound to be part of their supply chains thereby exposing them to modern challenges and bringing out the best in them.Manufacturers satisfy their customer base and no one else. PZ cussons can make a world class beauty soap but if the customers can afford lux, then lux it is. |
donbenedict:I agree with you completely!! |
shadeyinka:Our industrial base is non existent? wow!! so the Manufacturers association of Nigeria are mere pallbearers abi? |
spartan50:Answering your question is a waste of my precious time, your ability to process the answer however it comes is most worrisome, if you do not know why OPEC is referenced in Nigeria's case, then you lack the ability to be here let alone contribute to any subject. Nairaland politics section is not by force, there are several threads like fashion, entertainment etc that your head can handle, do yourself that favour please. |
shadeyinka:The richest man in Africa is a legitimate buisnessman with investments littered everywhere home and abroad, only the politicians hide their loot abroad therefore, it is paramount that corruption fight is sustained if possible, intensified. |
MadamExcellency:Looters suggestion, lol, sorry we will sustain the fight against corruption, our looters are not known to be investing in our economy but abroad. The international community have confidence in this fight hence our ability to borrow when the need arises. |
donbenedict:A bankers solution, how about supporting manufacturing with cheaper fx to spur production of more goods? |
basilo101:Nigeria is not looking for oil in the NE we are only paying counterpart funding for exploration costs there. Another economic challenge is looming that most people are not aware of, the very many force Majeure we keep declaring due to the bombings in the Niger delta is eroding our market share globally so we must look for oil elsewhere to keep that up else, the rest of our oil and oil investments made over the years will become useless. We cant go deeper offshore due to exploration costs and low crude price so your best bet outside the Niger delta is the lake chad basin. The whole investment is not geared towards making new money but maintaining our global market share. India just dropped 13% of our oil originally dropped by the US, you dont expect the biggest refinery in the world to shut down because our country is raising !diots in the creek do you? This information I gave you above is supposed to have come from ministry of information, low budget means they can not be effective in bringing up to speed people like you so if you understand that majority of Nigerians are ignorant, then you must appreciate how much work need to be done, hence an increased budget. Agriculture is not the diversification we need , all the investment in Agriculture is geared towards self sufficiency not revenue earning. If we can make tomato paste locally the cbn will stop funding its import saving huge fx in the long run. |
DickDastardly:Buhari is the president of all the countries mentioned abi? I am sure you want your kids to take first position in class after transmitting a mentally defective gene to them right? |
spartan50:If you actually think that the economic challenges of Nigeria was caused by Buhari I beg you in the name of God, don't have children. The defective gene that left you with mental Epilepsy must end with your generation. you will be doing a great disservice to the next generation if you replicate those genes, do this for the love of God . A quick IQ test, mention one OPEC country that has recorded any GDP growth in the last 6months? if you get it right, by all means go ahead and procreate. |
spartan50:Tell that to Borno people using their airport and major highways today. Do I expect a slave trade candidate to have sense? |
lanicky:These are the kinda reasoning that make me long for slave trade. There is blood in your veins so you can feel the pulse of the masses the big question is; is there a brain in your skull to understand that the problem have no solution at least for now? Hate APC or not, APC doesn't even know you exist, maybe president Maduro is an APC member too. bloody illiterate!! |
eshietIntrepid:You will not ask PDP where they will get forex from but you are already with them on this one. I am sure God will be regretting why he wasted a brain on persons like you. OPEC a 12 member states organisation of which Nigeria is a member is humbled by the situation and you think PDP has the answer to a question that humbled OPEC? I marvel how people who lack cognitive ability survive? how does underdeveloped brains like yours cross a major highway? I am really curious. Next you will start shouting "one chance", "chain" etc, this is the time to use your head however empty. |
eshietIntrepid:You will not ask PDP where they will get forex from but you are already with them on this one. I am sure God will be regretting why he wasted a brain on persons like you. |

Your case is even more pitiable because not only has Fayose deprived you of economic salvation, he has equally taken away your ability to think. Do your destiny a favour, go to the internet and research , "jefferson trial proceedings, witnesses cross examination" then go back to Ekiti and educate Fayose. It is because of brainless people like you that brainless politicians like Fayose are emboldened to over heat the polity with pettiness. Go to America and twist a 9yr old event as a politician and wait to be re elected, only in Nigeria where humans roam with the IQ of a lizard live with such. |
tsdarkside:If the government makes a law that people like you should be returned to slavery, won't you say the government is callous? Give me two reasons why you think you deserve to cohabit with same people? |
Your achievements is without doubt remarkable but you guys seem to miss the point, you guys are the only Urea fertilizer manufacturers in the country, as such making an important component for IEDs, hence the ONSA who by the way it is its job to figure out things like that is saying that you need to toughen your distribution network to ensure your fertilizers don't fall into the hands of terrorists. If Notore as a company does not know that what they are making is a bomb component, then whoever wrote this rebuttal is dumb to the high heavens. The Govt must not close down Notore one of our few surviving production capabilities, rather their chain of suppliers must be vetted by the ONSA. Notore is too valuable for the economy than the bomb threat it poses. We can not disrupt our way of life because terrorists live with us, it is an admission of defeat to the terrorists. |
Why are the people in the background Mongoloids? Does that look like a palm tree to you? When you can not finish SS3 you seek a career in blogging. |
During the 2007 militant attacks, the militants were not strategic, they have no clue the difference between a delivery, trunk and export lines, that way, we could breathe while the attacks progressed, the question is; How did they get the intel of our export lines to bomb efficiently and strategically today? The amnesty deal was Arms buy back, cash pay outs and sundry incentives, there was no clause in the Amnesty package signed by yaradua that made provisions for Pipeline security, let alone the huge sums allocated to that failed cause, never mind that Nigeria was losing an average of 400,000bbls of crude oil daily to oil theft while the so called pipeline security contract was ongoing, that did not deter the govt from doling out such largesse. Could it be that the militants have taken custody of our classified pipeline network in fulfilment of the contract they were packaged to do? DSS must get to the root of this matter. |
There is no forex to import crude, if crude price rises, it will erode the gains of this whole venture. Secondly the lake chad basin is as unsafe as the Niger delta so that can not spell an alternative. Modifying the refinery is no walk in the park, it took us nearly 2yrs to get it done the last time, the proposal is DOA. |
