The very 1st MAJOR retooling of d Nigerian Army since Shehu Shagari loading.... All oda rulers from BUHARI to Yar'adua were just busy drinking kunu and eating uku whilst d NA's equipments deteriorated. *smdh*
taharqa the M0r0n is that you? how was your circumcision leave? was wondering if they circumcised your brain as well, After Shagari's retooling, OBJ has retooled our military, yaradua did and now your oga who is coming late after Boko has laid seige for 4yrs.
Go and ask who ordered all the OPV's in the naval fleet, all the MRAPS and Otokr Cobra's ,ask where all your j7's who bought that?

you are happy that Jona is buying 1,000, riffles after 6yrs of wasting Nigerian lives and another 5,000 riffles in 2015, for a standing army of 136,000 men and women.
guess your Oga wants 15 soldiers to one riffle come 2015, shameless goat!!

Buhari had no need to buy arms for Nigeria in 1984 because the nation was not in any threat, Shagari retooled for the Maitasine, OBJ retooled for Bakassi peninsular, Abacha retooled for peace keeping interventions for ECOMOG, Yaradua retooled for Niger delta militants, Jonathan is retooling after stealing for 6yrs and you are happy he is buying 6,000 riffles for 136,000 men, ekwensu!!

@ OP

pay very good attention;

In doing so, we also recognize the need for a broad-based global partnership in the on-going battle against trans-border crimes, including terrorism and acts of piracy. It is regrettable that these scourges are sustained by unfettered access by non-state actors to illicit small arms and light weapons with which they foster insecurity and instability across our continent. For us in Africa, these are the ‘weapons of mass destruction’!.......Goodluck jonathan, UN general assembly 2014
This excerpt came form Mr President, the commander in chief of all the armed forces, Federal republic of Nigeria.
now, pay attention where he referred to terrorism, aka boko haram as a "trans-border crime" in other words, he has info that Boko haram Hench men are foreign elements on Nigerian soil.

My question to you is this; why did Jonathan not tell the UN that it was Buhari? or a president is so scared of an ordinary civillian? By the way, who has the picture of the militants who protested for subsidy removal in favor of their pay master?

You insult the memory of a hero, General Charles De Gaulle, by comparing him to a coup plotter General Muhamadu Buhari.
Depends on the kinda memory you have, even fish brains still pretend they have some memory left.

Charles De Gaulle fought for the liberation of his country. Buhari thwarted the Democratic process of his country.
I don't know where you got your info from but what I know is that Buhari saved our nation from Shagari's corruption at the time, about plotting coup, you know most of you here are kids and poorly educated, this is what one of the coup plotters has to say;

When asked about Buhari’s coup of 1984, Col. Nyiam has this to say;
“”Gen. Buhari, he was not the initiator of that coup that brought him in as Head of State, it was Gen. Ibrahim Bako and Babangida that initiated it. But because they wanted a credible figure as a face, he was brought in. He did not know the genesis of that coup. He was not quite aware of the original idea behind the coup and that was why when he decided to make a change, he was forced to step aside. So, if this could happen to a whole Gen. Buhari, who was supposedly the leader of a coup, it shows how many soldiers can be brought in that way.
Does that mean overthrowing Shagari’s government was IBB’s idea?
It was the idea of late Gen. Bako and IBB. Buhari was only brought in because they needed a face with integrity””.
Source:
http://www.punchng.com/feature/interview/ibb-not-buhari-overthrew-shagaris-govt-col-nyiam/

Now, the above is closest to our history, you can continue feeding your children with your serial buffoonery, I don't expect you to make any meaning from that piece because a poorly educated mind is closest to evil.

Charles De Gaulle worked tirelessly to restore the economy of France. Buhari spent months punishing people using retrogressive decrees in the name of fighting corruption.
Like I said earlier, your likes who are beneficiaries of free education in roofless classes will find it difficult to muster that Buhari left inflation of only 5% with his crude economic policies in 1.5yrs, 1naira bought 1.5USD during his crude reign and high handedness, as chairman of NNPC under his watch, two refineries were built, during his reign, the debt profile of Nigeria was 0, both home and abroad, are those economic transformation good enough for you? needless to remind you that the Otuoke general has not only devalued the naira to an all time low but is yet to lay a foundation of a saver pit, let alone a refinery, despite his solemn promise to Nigerians in 2011, oh! our debt profile today, foreign is N10.5T according to the Director general of DMO, Dr Abraham Nwankwo.

Charles De Gaulle United France. Buhari has divided this country along religious line. He told Muslims to only vote Muslims in 2003. He called for total sharia in Nigeria in 2001. He threatened that the dogs and baboons will be soaked in blood come 2015.
He told Muslims to vote Muslims in 2003, really? at your age shouldn't you be quoting the event, venue and date of such remark at least to save us the stress of going through the national archive?
If the Northerners want sharia under Buhari's reign and the referendum favors the majority, why not? OBJ endorsed it without a referendum and the sky did not break, neither did we hear that a christian was tried in a sharia court, so why are you crying more than the bereaved? can you be more catholic than the pope?

The baboon and dog analogy if my memory served me right was an Idiomatic expression, well, considering your academic pedigree, I have no doubt your teacher skipped that part, as such, the blame is not yours, blame life that cursed you with poverty that you could not afford a decent education.

You are a permanent foool for daring to compare a hero of world War 2 to a villain of Nigerian politics.

OPEC is just being s!lly, the price jump we are witnessing today was a 1mbbls cut from the libya's declared force ma jeure on its biggest oil fields from the crude market on the 14/12/2014.

2.5mbbls cut was proposed at the last OPEC annual meeting but the Saudi egg heads refused, now war in Libya is giving the desired result.
Even at $63/bbl Nigeria is still running a budget deficit, I hope Iweala pegged next year's benchmark at less than $60/bbl, with a significant cut in recurrent expenditures and govt spending.

Human rights community

Nigeria has made significant progress in the area of free speech and personal liberties since, and the thought of another Buhari presidency is already sending chills and shivers down the spines of citizens, civil liberties organisations and the human rights community in general. For many Nigerians, Jonathan has been most tolerant of criticisms and opposing ideas; in fact, he has continued to encourage citizens to speak out as part of their inalienable rights under the Constitution by assuring them that under his watch, no one will be sent to jail, exiled or murdered for expressing his/her opinions as has been witnessed in Nigeria previously.
If Jonathan's human rights campaign was so fantastic, may I know why the west is sanctioning his government in areas of military procurement?

I get offended everytime i see these APC/PDP GMB/GEJ arguments, sadly, you're all missing the koko here! This shouldn't be about any party or any individual, it should be a united clarion call for the total change of our political culture.

If APC wins the presidential elections, the same PDP crooks will all decamp to APC like they did in EDO state, and it will end up being a merigle round affair, an exercise in futility.

A 72yr old retired general that participated in the illegal killing of Igbos and others during the civil war now wants to be their president, even the hat wearing otueke guy isn't helping, haba. Nigerians should stand up and reject these wrong practices, say no to two bad options.

We live in a country were touts and motor park boys become senators and governors, where ex-cons and known crooks become presidents, ministers and special advisers. How can a motor park boy successfully lead a state? No wonder our country is as disorganized as a motor park, we have the wrong people at the wrong places, doing the wrong things at the wrong times for the wrong reasons!
Your brain is more disorganized than Nigeria. Corruption is our biggest challenge today, Buhari can do justice to dat, we may continue with Otuoke citizens after some anti corruption excercise.

MizTyna:
The emergence of Mr Odein Ajumogobia in the PDP primary gubernatorial contest that had about 16 aspirants took a more fascinating dimension and attracted wider interest given Ajumomobia's reputation as an excellent technocrat and a very upright Nigerian. Though the primary has been held and Mr Wike has been handed the PDP ticket in an exercise that was deemed irregular which majority of the aspirants boycotted, Ajumogbia has gone to court to challenge Wike's eligibility for the contest.

In the meantime, it may be reasonable to ask who truly fits to be Governor of Rivers State between Wike & Ajumogobia. Here's a brief profile of the major gladiators in the contest. So you decide

Mr. Nyesom Wike an indigene of Rumuwike, Nkwerre Rivers State is a lawyer but well-known as a politician. He is an alumnus of the University of Port-Harcourt.  He is a former Chairman of Obio-Akpor Local Government in Rivers State. He was the President of All Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) between 2003 and 2006. He is a co-founder of the Ikwerre Youth Movement (IYM). He served as Chief of Staff to Governor Rotimi Amaechi between 2007 and 2011. He recently resigned his appointment as Minister of State for Education under President Goodluck Jonathan to vie for Rivers State governorship.

Odein Ajumogobia is from Kalabari, Abonnema in Rivers State. He is an accomplished lawyer and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). He had his first degree in Law from the University of Lagos and graduated with First Class. During his study, he won Faculty Prize for best results in final degree examination; prizes for best over-all performance and subject prizes in first and second year examinations; Federal Government of Nigeria Merit Award for academic performance at the University of Lagos 1975 - 1976. He attended Harvard Law School, Cambridge Massachusetts for his Master's.  He was Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Rivers State between 2003 and 2007; Minister of State Petroleum and Resources 2007-2009 and Minister for Foreign Affairs 2009-2011. He runs one of the most successful law firms in Nigeria - Ajumogobia & Okeke - where recently took a break to run for Rivers State governorship.

So,Wike or Ajumogobia?
Ajumogobia is the class of politicians found in the APC, what exactly is he doing in the PDP? PDP is for touts like Wike most notable as patron of several clandestine groups like the GDI and IYM.
Comparing Wike a tout who fought with drivers during his reign as Obiakpor chairman with Ajumogobia is the height of insensitivity and political wickedness.

A Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President,
Reuben Abati, published an abstract from secret
documents in his Twitter, exposing the information
from Wikileaks about Buhari’s 1983-84 governing years.

The information is provided by the Public Library
of United States Diplomacy through Wikileaks. The
exposed classified letter is dated September 20, 2002. It
reads in part:

Like President Obasanjo before the 1999 election,
General Buhari’s political experience is limited to that of
military Head of State. Buhari came to power as a result
of a 1983 New Year’s Eve coup against the
democratically elected Shehu Shagari. The eviction of
Shagari came as a welcome relief as did Buhari’s
promise to root out corruption. That relief, however, was
short-lived as Nigerians watched despairingly as the
Buhari regime’s promises to revive the economy and
wipe out rampant corruption withered during 20 months
of heavy-handed, largely ineffective rule.

In May 1984, Buhari ordered the brutal expulsion of
700,000 illegal immigrants from neighboring African
states, jailed hundreds of political opponents and
muzzled a once aggressive press. His loyalty to the
military also came into question as he dismissed 30,000 soldiers as a cost-cutting measure. Buhari also soured Nigeria’s relations with Britain, when he was accused of masterminding a clumsy and unsuccessful attempt in July 1984 to kidnap President Shagari’s brother-in-law, former Transport Minister Umaru Dikko.

Moreover, Buhari undermined traditional rulers throughout Nigeria, slashing their benefits and questioning their authority.

http://www.naij.com/345076-secret-documents-shocking-revelations-about-buhari.html
Ineffective rule? with inflation of 5%, Naira to dollar exchange rate of 1naira to 1.5USD? zero IMF or World Bank loan, hence zero debt profile? 2 refineries to show for his stewardship at the NNPC. A government that the only corruption case against it were mere controversial scenarios?
I think I like that Ineffective leadership if that is what you choose to call it.

Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, has threatened to attack the Emir of Kano, Muhummadu Sanusi II, in retaliation for the Emir’s call on Kano residents and other Nigerians to arm and defend themselves against the terror organization.

In a new video released weekend, Mr. Shekau said his group does not consider Mr. Sanusi a true Muslim, and will attack him whenever an opportunity presents itself.

The Emir had earlier issued a call to arms after a series of deadly attacks by suspected Boko Haram militants in Kano.

Speaking at Kano’s central Mosque in October, the Emir charged the people of Kano to arm and defend themselves against the sect, which is responsible for more than 13,000 deaths.

Militants later launched a deadly assault on the Mosque on Friday, November 28, detonating multiple bombs and shooting worshippers to death.

By the way, I never said we had APCs in adequate numbers. Read my very first post on this thread. There's still a heavy reliance on soft skinned vehicles, and I've been quite vocal on the need to introduce armoured vehicles, though there are concerns of trading mobility for protection.
You don't think that the soft skin option has anything to do with corruption? have you tried to compare the operational cost of the Steyr, otokr cobra, MRAPS vs a soft skin hilux?

As for NAF Special Operations Base, PHC, I can assure you that most of NAF Mi-35 attack helicopters a very much operational, and so are the Navy's Augusta A-109s stationed there, and the Navy's Augusta AW 139 SAR bird. "Tinubu told some members of his inner caucus that being VP is his best shot at Nigeria's presidency at this time considering that if Buhari completes one term or dies, he will, as improbably as it sounds, emerge leader of Nigeria."

http://saharareporters.com/2014/12/15/tinubu-muscling-southwest-political-leaders-apc-present-him-vp-candidate

If the above quote from Sahara Reporters is true, then the north will be shooting herself on the foot to vote for APC and Buhari in 2015. This, probably is the thinking of Tinubu and his cohorts in choosing Prof Osibanjo, a confirmed stooge (of the Jagaban himself) as the likely running mate to Buhari, who is also accused by PDP to be another Tinubu stooge. Looking properly at Buhari, one cannot help but agree that the Yar'adua scenario might play out again. Could Jagaban have learnt from his kinsman - Baba Iyabo, who is said to have influenced the choice of Goodluck Jonathan, in expectation of Yar' dua's demise, so as to be able to remote-control him from his Otta home? Though, Baba's calculation failed him, as the meek and weak looking president Jonathan in exhibiting the fearless Ijaw trait became his own man, Tinubu is likely to succeed as the man he is positioning for the role had been under his wraps and ultimately is not from a background (with traits) that exhibits such courage.

As we watch and wait for 2015 election, it is important for the north to re-consider her steps as the case of former president Yar'dua reveals that not even a country's wealth can save a dying president. An old African adage says that if you cheat a child during his father's death, you will not cheat him again during his mother's death. Whether the north will learn from this adage is going to be known on 14th February 2014. With this plot, the closest the north will come to power will be through PDP, perhaps after President Jonathan.

AND BUHARI IS 72 THIS YEAR, MEANING THAT

In 2015, he will be 73 (football age) and around 80(real age).

His football age of 72 is the age of my grand pa and I now have children.

His real age is the age of one of the contestants of the oldest man on earth, and his grandson now has a grandson.

With his football age, he is now a great grand pa, but with his real age, I don’t know how it is termed in English Language, when somebody’s grandson has a grandson.

And as proof of GEJ'S seriousness, Ihejirika was kept TWICE by this administration. I dare say he would've been the next CDS. BUT his success got to his head, so much that he refused to take orders again from the cDS Admiral Old Ibrahim, a very fine Officer and the brain behind the Nigeria Navy's transformation to a well oiled mean sea fighting machine. THAT is what got Ihejirika fired. And yes, he was replaceable.

As for your claim that the FG hasn't funded the military, it is total hogwash!! It is thanks to this administration that the military hasn't only witness an increase in its funding and the acquisition of new platforms, but increased investment in our local defence industries. Thanks to this administration, now we build gunboats, MRAPS, and UAVs, and very soon OPVs.

That said, I must admit that there is a problem within the military heirachy. Speaking as someone close to law enforcement (Police Force), there's corruption in the Force, but the NPF ' S procurement process is so far ahead of the military (Army to be specific) that it even baffles cops themselves. Before the FG'S intervention, the Police Force had a far superior Signals Corp, the BEST EOD team in the country, and even more powerful gunboats. In some operations, Army troops borrowed police personal body armour. So far things have gotten better, but there's need to sanitizer the military ' s procurement system (xcept that of the Navy; they're great).
The things Shagari bought, we saw, OBJ? we saw, Jonathan? His generals grew fatter we are yet to see, does it not bother you?
I am yet to see any made in Nigeria MRAP and please don't tell me about Igirigi, that toy cannot pass to be exported to ordinary Niger republic, how has it fared in the NE? do we really have sufficient MRAPs like you claimed yet all the pictures we see are basically soft skin Hilux trucks and probably a few Cobras?
Did I read your UAV part? thought we are discussing real life issues not Vision 2050, your Gulma UAV, if at all it has ever worked would have been at the fore front of operation Pulo shield in area of oil and gas infrastructure surveillance, at least I have played around that terrain long enough to know that the Gulma project was a colossal failure.

Will be best to be mission specific in eulogizing those artifacts you guys parade as hard wares. By the way, I heard Jonathan is ordering for J17, lol, that one will be vision 2516, lol

I don't believe a General, in the nigerian army wrote this.As a general, there are other channels and means he could have used in channeling the fraustrations of the troops in the north east without making it public, and exposing himself thereby jeopardising his career.two, the article is filled with a lot of grammatical errors.now, I do not dispute the fact that this story may be true, its likely written by a junior officer.
Do Generals play the role of CO's in the war front? Another dumb Nigerian who exchanged his free education with kalo kalo!!

Oh please zip it!! What makes GEJ incompetent? The same administration you insult was behind some of our very best class of service chiefs from Petrini to Ihejirika. The same administration has been responsible for increasing defence funding. True the appointment of the likes of Badeh has been a mistake, but I'm pretty sure it will be addressed. That said, this administration has outperformed it's predecessors, even that of that Islamic fanatic + BH loving cry baby clown called Buhari.
Ihejirika was excellent, how did Jonathan make him? did he even notice his valor at the epicenter of the insurgence? does he even know that Ihejirika was irreplaceable?
Military funding? are you kidding me? 2 x 30 rounds magazine of AK 47 for soldiers at the front? Don't flatter yourself, increasing military funding with thieves standing by to swallow amount to nothing.

Go and peruse Shagari's military procurement at least you are aware who bought your NNS Aradu, the only Nigerian standing Frigate, or OBJ's procurement, the APC's, the J7 aircrafts and the naval fleet that forced the militants to accept amnesty, Jonathan's procurement is only on paper and nothing more, the soldiers are complaining and deserting and you are telling me nonsense about fat military spending, or are you by any chance a beneficiary of the spurious military spending?

that reminds me were you not the dumb officer who does not know the difference between an "insurrection" and a "civil war" two years ago? let me just hope that you have improved over the years else don't quote my post again.

What a brain! You mean Buhari who could not prevent a mere palace coup staged against him by IBB despite knowing about it beforehand? What Democratic credential does he possess to tackle insurgents who apparently enjoy the backing of northern oligarchy? I wonder how some Buhari apologists like you think.
[color=#000099]What Military strategy does Jonathan know as a school teacher who ended up with one of his students by the way? Is he the man you prefer to handle your security challenges?
He had no antecedents in 2011 when block heads like you voted him, no success as both acting Gov, Gov and acting president yet you voted for him, but you think that an Army General cannot tackle Boko haram, I know Nigerians are dumb, but yours is a curse.

As a petroleum Minister under Obasanjo and head of NNPC, 2 refineries were built, today, Nigeria is suffering from serious energy crisis yet the man you trust cannot put together a simple PIB let alone solve its imminent challenges are you sure your IQ is ok!!?

platoon commander for a UN peace keeping operation in Congo as an ordinary second lieutenant, with CD medal to show for it, what has your beloved Jonathan got to show for 4yrs of sleeping with boko haram? conceding territories I guess?

buhari's government is revered for its ability to keep the country afloat by making progress through sheer economic ingenuity even when it rejected IMF loan and refused to adopt IMF conditionality to devalue the Naira. His government is praised for its gain in reducing inflation by refusing to devalue the nation's currency, the Nigerian Naira, curbing imports of needless goods, curtailing oil theft and using counter trade policy to barter seized illegally bunkered crude oil for needful goods like machinery, enabling it to export above its OPEC quota.

you want to compare him with Jonathan who in just a month of falling crude prices, Naira became a piece of paper of course because the foreign reserve have been stolen, crude theft, brazen corruption and abuse of office. I dont blame you shaa.
