Politics › Re: Nnamdi Kanu's Fight For Biafra, An Act Of Cowardice, illitracy And Stupidity. by jpphilips(m): 12:36pm On Sep 15, 2017
Delphi:
@op,I think your post/the content has all shades of wrong. First of all, kindly know that I'm not IPOB. This will aid an unbiased assimilation of my response. You said, NK "fight" for Biafra?. Its never a fight but an agitation - the reason, I view you post/content as wrong!. In this your stance you meant violent confrontation with the authorities. But that was never the situation. You have to appreciate that You & I have the right to self determination, right to agitate and right to voice out our grievances and disappointments. It is never a crime. I feel highly disappointed when people cast aspersions on someone that says he wants a new identity. It is not a crime!
The problem is that the security agencies (and perhaps the leaders), lack professionalism, exposure and comportment. They don't acknoeledge the citizens' right to protest, agitate and associate non-violently. We could see that UK police gave cover to people who protested in the Abuja house in London without any form of molestation and victimization. Can you get such treatment in your country? There is no window for civil vituperation in developing worlds, why?. In the recent past, Scotland passed through referendum to determine whether they will be in the UK or not. It was never a crime nor an abomination. In this era of Brexit, another agitation for (second) referendum is in the offing.
I find it disappointing when people castigate others who are courageous enough to seek for a new identity for themselves. One truth I know is that Nigeria is very big to be properly managed by 'feeble minds' who disappointedly are the leaders in all tiers of government. In this instance, the country becomes too heterogenous and complex to control. Is it not better for all to have a smaller, more controllable homogenous entities? Without strong institutions, good leadership, informed citizenry, homogenous value system, social justice etc, the best is for the country to segregate (based on homogeneity of values). China is big yet they've got all these 'virtues', the reason the country is being governed well. But that can't be said of Nigeria. Why then does one continue to associate with what doesn't work and be saying "founding fathers want it so". Change is inevitable thus.
I'm not holding forth for anyone nor group, but based on my exposure and training, I believe, Nigeria as it is now, is not the best deal. Genuine effort must be made as to bring equity hitherto skewed in terms of resources allocation - human and material. One section should not be having a lion share of everything that ought to be equitable. No conscientious citizen will be happy the way the country is presently structured and run. Let's forget about who calls the shots. NK may not have got the process perfect yet it has charted a new course for the betterment of our prosterity. It is high time, legislation be done as to model the aspect of referendum in the constitution. However, I ask, how did the present constitution come about?
Your right to self determination was given to you by whom?

Politics › Re: Nnamdi Kanu Has Won! by jpphilips(m): 10:33am On Sep 15, 2017
freeze001:
As written by prof Onyemaechi Ogbunwezeh

#Nnamdi Kanu Has Won!!!

I never dreamt that I will ever be compelled by facts to come to this conclusion.

Whatever happens to Nnamdi Kanu today; he has won.

This opinionated rabble rouser won due to the superlative unintelligence of Buhari's government.

He was an unknown element plying his vituperative rhetoric on the outbacks of an internet radio that couldn't boast a broad audience.

He was a nobody; until he played Buhari into rescuing him from the peripheries of irrelevance. He set a trap for the rat; and the biggest rat of all, brainlessly swallowed that.

Today he has exposed the rat's underbelly for the world to see; that what the rat has been pretending to; was a wooden apology of a democracy.

It is unfortunate but true.

Nnamdi Kanu has won.

If you kill him; he will become a martyr to a cause that was there before he was born. He would be a a pointer to history of how a smart Mbe Nwaniga (The Tortoise) impregnated a foolish elephant.

If you kill him; he may become a religion.

That was how the foolishness of the Roman State allowed the Sanhendrin to murder the opinionated, coarse, Galilean preacher; Jesus, who called himself: the Son of Man.

After his crucifixion, he became a religion. His disciples started calling him the Son of God.

Today, history is divided into before and after that guy; who went to the Wall Street of his day; and threw out the money changers out of their offices.

Today the guy who called Herod the Patriarch a Fox; and the High Priests of various principalities; brood of vipers; is now worshipped as Jesus Mighty God.

Today; this guy who was throwing curses left, right and center: cursing the unproductive fig tree; cursing those who would lead any of these children astray and so on; is being praised with psalmodic tunes; like Gentle Jesus meek and Mild.

Today, this guy who was distributing "woes" to every idiot who merited it : "Woe betide you lawyers" (Luke 11:46), "Woe to you teachers of the law" ( Matt. 23: 13), "Woe to you hypocrites" (Matt.23:14) is to worshipped as the Prince of peace.

His religion is now the largest in the world. And the places he lived and walked are now centers of pilgrimage and called Holy land.

His opponents?

History has continued to paint them as villains. Herod. Pontius Pilate. Caiaphas. Judas. etc.

What many who read about the theological Jesus could never contemplate is the fact that this guy was a rowdy; uncouth; dangerously opinionated, and coarse, itinerant preacher; who challenged the monied interests; ruling religious dynasties; and royal establishments of the day; who see themselves as rulers by divine right; in a neo-religious-feudalism gone awry.

He made a whip and flogged the shit out of his opponents. Both actual and metaphorical.

The establishment caught cold when he sneezed. His people even denied him: is that fool not the son of Joseph and Mary!!! Do we not know brothers? Those who profited; or who nursed expectations of profiting from the rotten status quo; all denounced him.

Only the poor and those who hungered and thirsted for justice flocked to him. He was not a mainstream or establishment guy. He was a guy of the hoi polloi. He was at home with the touts, the Agberos and the Ashawos of his day. The establishment denounced him as eating and dinning with sinners and tax collectors. To be a tax collector is those days is the equivalent of being a 419er in Nigeria. Those were his people.

When the establishment felt they have had enough; they sent a Battalion of soldiers to do "Operation Python Dance" in front of his retreat at a side garden called Gethsemane.

They eventually murdered him. In between two thieves. Even at his trial; those he fought for abandoned him and took the side of the thief Barabbas.

But today; some of my black brothers are swearing of miracles courtesy of his name.

That is how religions are born.

So; of you kill Nnamdi Kanu today; this scenario is not impossible. History is littered with a plethora of examples.

He has won!

His grave would become a pilgrimage center to all; who see Nigeria as amorphous contraption of sickening injustice.

If you jail him; you would transform him into a Mandela.

In a Nigeria; where the majority live for anything and die for nothing; Nnamdi Kanu has written himself into history.

From henceforward; whenever and wherever the history of Nigeria is chronicled; his name would appear as that eminent boil, that terrorized Buhari's scrotum. He will be remembered as that petite shit that riles the anus.

You can never wish him away. Not anymore.

I may not have liked his rhetoric; but he appears to be smarter than his opponents.

HE HAS WON.

Eat your heart out.
Continue deceiving the Lunatic, let us know when you hoist your Biafran flag, bl00dy failures.

Buhari shouldn't have arrested Nnamdi Kanu in the 1st place, that is the greatest mistake he made as a president. Now he has resorted to the use of force to suppress Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB, the more he fights him the more popular Nnamdi will become. The best thing is to ignore Kanu and treat him as a nobody, Buhari should remember how Nelson Mandela became great and respected ( because the South African government fought him and imprisoned him). Buhari should hand over Mr. Kanu's passport back to him so that he can go back to UK, once he is in UK, Nigerian government should not allow him to set foot back to Nigeria till 2019 presidential election has been done, this way his so called followers will no longer be able to set their eyes on him, with time they will forget him. Restricting him in Nigeria will do this great government more harm than good, killing him will even be worse, killing of unarmed igbos will also resort to the so called IPOB members picking up arms to fight the Nigerian army. Mr President using violence is a wrong approach, kindly arrest Nnamdi Kanu and deport him to UK, this will separate him from his followers. Long live Nigeria!long live Ndi Igbo!
You can not ignore a man whose actions have mobilized enough manpower capable of outnumbering the armed forces, you could have suggested we ignore boko haram too, buhari is the president, he is doing it his way and he believes it is working, ObJ did it and it worked, same did Abacha, that's what comes with the military, when you become a president, you can carve out your territories for lunatics like Kanu, thats your problem. or better still, you can become Mrs President Jonathan , the man in Aso rock is mr president buhari and he is sending a message of chill to those threatening our sovereignty, it is his job and he is doing it so damn well!!

It is an insult to address an Igbo man as IPOB, Biafra is strictly an IPOB agenda.

Politics › Re: WE Should Struggle And Protest For Restructuring Not Referendum by jpphilips(m): 5:38pm On Sep 13, 2017
Basalt:
Well, let me start by saying that every poor person and average person in this country is marginalized, but proper restructuring of this country will make us enjoy irrespective of our financial class just as Americans and British do.
Nigeria as a country has various resources, but we have only concentrated on one, where we sell the proceeds and share the money based on allocation. Every state gets money from Abuja. That`s unitary because everyone gets the money from one source.
We also know that the federal govt is supposedly the owner of every resources in Nigeria, that's why states are not exactly allowed to mine resources in their states for their own purposes.
Now if each region is allowed to tap any natural resources it finds in its region there would be less concentration on the oil and we would have what we can call multiple streams of income from various resource where the region has a comparative advantage.
With regionalism, I think it would then be easier to even fight corruption instead of all this pretense.
The truth is, the states are lazy to attempt to produce anything because there is free money coming from Abuja.
Let me give two examples NEPA and farming.
Farming is the easiest thing that any state can create an enabling environment to generate igr but most will Not because they are sure of Abuja money.
Secondly what exactly is the meaning of national grid? If I produce light/ENERGY in Maduiguri it must be added to national grid and can be supplied to Someone in Bayelsa who had nothing to do with it.
Let the north use all the dams in the north, wind and solar to generate electricity, the SW can continue with IPP tinubu started, by now am sure the whole SW would have been lit up, SS use their gas, SE use coal, etc ajaokuta if fully functional can generate electricity for about 5states.
This will be the true diversification we need because with electricity we can produce food from middle belt and transform raw materials to finished goods for our consumption and export. It will also help employment.
There are many other things that can be worked. Police , education, F.affairs etc
True federalism will simply mean diversification.

Our MumuDonDo protest should include restructuring into their agenda
What do you want to restructure?

Kanu and his group may not be entirely right in their struggle, but they are not entirely wrong either. Urging govt go the lawless way is unacceptable. The govt must brace up, be mature and do what is right under the law.

While Kanu and his unarmed group are gaining the attention of soldiers armed as in war, Bokoharam elements with blood of the innocent they keep killing are roaming free and prove uncontrollable.

At the same time, militants in the Niger Delta have matched govt's security agents reckless use of force/firepower with their ammunition and bombings to balance terror and govt has thus learnt to limit use of force on them.

Caution and wisdom is advised.
