I had this feeling that if Uber had retained their old prices most drivers would have switch off their Taxify apps. The only people that would have remained on taxify would be those who failed uber activation
But Riders will switch to Taxify... And Uber doesn't want to loose it riders... And in Nigeria everything cheap sells fast. grin

Dont blame Uber, its a game of competition, there must be losers and winners in every game. And in this game car owners likely loose more, while drivers will only stress more and Uber will also loose, but very little.

Why will this continue to happen? Because all our prominent people including religious leaders will never speak.

No politician will condemn this act, no General overseer will ask for justice. The poor will likely continue to die in the hands of police, and never will there be justice.

Never rest in peace, until you revenge your death. Chase your killers and those helping them to cover up to madness and to shameful death.

are u on taxify? If not,i'll advise that u go on taxify. They now charge 5percent commission on the same fare as uber. All my driver friends are now offline on uber and online on taxify. It means that if u take a journey of 1500, taxify would take 75naira from it. Why won't drivers prefer it. Uber's 25percent commission is too much. I'm sure that taxify would record their highest sales today. I hope uber won't loose out completely at the end of it.
So mean to say the new fare is okay, just the Uber commission is the problem?

Couple of years back kabukabu drivers in ogudu ojota, use to do well, but presently they only work to feed and they are not even feeding well.
Many golf3 has been written off, many drivers that own personal cars has been demoted to daily delivery driver.
They cannot achieve anything, because they charge a very low fare.
From ogudu to Ojota is 50naira and you take only 4 passengers, that is 200 naira, with bad roads that will damage ur car, from that 50 naira you are charging; Agbero/touts will take almost 1500naira daily and if you are in deliver you will deliver 2500, then 2500+1500=4000, you will have to do minimum of 20 trips to pay car owner and Agbero/Touts, and you will have to buy up 3000-4000 naira fuel to achieve all these, so @ the end of the day you are doing minimum 40 trips and none of them is ur money, maybe only 2-4 trips will belong to you.
I see the same scenario playing out with Uber, I think Uber stand more like the Agbero/touts taking his 25%, (no stories)
I hope Uber will continue publishing weekly highest earner, the people I pity the most is those that took car loan from First Bank… This policy might likely frustrate them.

Brother, swallowing this will mean accepting anything. Please do your calculation again. If you spend 1 hour in traffic now, you earn N330 for that period. Fueling is about N500 per hour. Let us say no to slavery on rate as well as their 25%. Taxify drivers will one day wake up and say no too. Don't you know this is a planned scheme by both players. They just test our endurance limit. More could come if nothing is done.
Whoever refuses to join the strike will only realize he is laboring to survive.
Its no plan scheme, Its a game called competition.

The main culprit of price reduction is Taxify, so why is everybody crucifying Uber?
Why didn’t drivers go on strike when Taxify reduced their price?
When the competition started, drivers are dancing in between Uber and Taxify, some drivers are actually glorifying Taxify, and they wish Taxify have more riders.

Taxify simply reduce their price to woe more Uber riders, and Uber react, so they keep their riders and attract more riders.

@ first Taxify actually woe Uber partners/drivers by giving them more insensitive, like taking only 15%, Uber actually don’t care about this, because they have the key of the business, which is the riders.

Unfortunately, it shows Uber care more about the riders, than partners/drivers, and I won’t blame them, based on economy situation of Nigeria there will always be partners/drivers.

No driver/partner will remain loyal to Uber, if Uber is frustrated out.
And Uber won’t remain loyal to partners/drivers, if their cars are condemned to death.

For the wise and buoyant owners, is time to recall your vehicles, and keep them in your garage and wait, for both Taxify and Uber to start losing revenue, maybe they will have a rethink.

But for hungry Partners/drivers, just continue the struggle; in fact it’s your cross and you have to carry it.

OlugbengaE:
You dont know ehn? both of them have reduced their fares and charge same thing

Before Today Taxify used to be
₦81/km now its ₦55/km
₦8 a minute now ₦5.5 a minute
₦360 now ₦200 base fare

Ojodu to Marina used to be like ₦3200 now its ₦1500 with AC even Oko Ashewo will charge you 2500 without AC

This will only wreck your car.
I think you are right, the competition between Uber and taxify, might end up destroying Uber in Nigeria.
If you have have been doing 10 trips for 10k, now you will do 20 trips for 10k.

If they truly want to stay competitive with Taxify, they should do the same % as Taxify.
Taxify seems to be lacking enough Partners and Riders, so they reduce the rate to get more people in, then Uber reduce it also to remain competitive.

What if this lead to many Partners withdrawing their vehicles?

every business decision is subject to modification, if its not working.

I can never do it. Ojodu to Island used to be 3500 will now be 1800. laye
With what I have seen so far, Taxify is cheaper than Uber current rate, still drivers accept Taxify and even claim Taxify is better, uber is now offering the same rate with Taxify and you guys are complaining?

I don’t get it? What is the complain here?

Partners will Still demand 60k weekly rental. grin grin grin
Probably cheaper fare means much increase demand, so therefore more money, investors might demand more for weekly rental, because now cars will be more use for it to make money, meaning cars will get old quicker, than b4, so the best option is to maximize your profit, b4 cars get old.

So your 3M vehicle will give you less than your investment in 2 years. With the uncertainties in the country, I don't see anyone doing that.
Drivers, can you pray for such investment? The reality is that nothing less than 45k is bad business for good vehicles. I buy cars and know what it means to raise 3M at once. A fair driver should be contended with 20k to 25k weekly. This is twice the salary of a bank driver that works all day and have no control over his time.
Drivers should encourage partners. It might get to a point when drivers will no longer get vehicles to drive and that job opportunity will be gone again. Wisdom is required
Don’t mind the guy, he is out of job, he posted on nairaland last week, he is looking for a partner to drive his vehicle, now he claimed he is vehicle owner, the greedy guy is only looking 4 owners with zero experience, so he will eat them up.

I will apologize publicly, if your get a driver to remit #50,000 weekly for your "car" consistently for 4 weeks.

That said, enjoy your idle time.
Did you own this car for me? That you are forcing me to go below my price?
I have 5 drivers working me that are very happy… 2 on higher purchase and 3 on rental and more cars will soon come in from America.

It was @ the beginning of the business that I made silly mistakes believing drivers, now I’m on a very strict terms.

I deal with Tokunbo cars, but because of low sales, I diverted it to Uber.
My question for you?

Why is it that drivers are ready to take higher purchase 50-60k weekly, then when its question of rental then they demand 30k?

Go and drive your car yourself and earn #100,000 weekly and stop ranting here. You think drivers are robots or machineshuh
You gullible partners just sit at home and monitor dashboards for earnings.

Your car is insured, the driver isn't.

The driver faces so many risks driving, especially at night; assault, robbery, death to mention a few.

Note, I am partner, and have some cars on the platform.
I think is best you just sit @ home to avoid those risk mentioned. or just take the car for free.

You didn't read the conditions from First Bank properly, they said 2.4m (GROSS NOT NET). Its very possible to hit 100k gross weekly. That means 75k net, having deducted Uber's 25%. Fuelling to get to 100k could cost about 25k, now you're left with 50k. Do you then take the whole 50k to your partner? I try to be considerate on drivers too. First Bank analysis is different from your interpretation boss.

Cheers.
I know First Bank request is 100k gross.
So you mean to say fueling takes 25% from 100k income? sorry I don’t believe you! well, what I have rent out is Toyota Corolla and all of them, take lesser fuel,

The problem here is, drivers wants to over earn.

My final take, if drivers can take higher purchase for 50k weekly, then rental should be @ least 60k weekly.

Bro... I can bet that you will be at the loosing side after all... it's so sure your car wouldn't be able to finish uber project successfully...

People who gives car out for 35/40k per week are not fools.. your cars condition should be a priority...

If you do anyhow.. you go see anyhow
My humble advice....
Uber once state on their webpage that over 40% of their drivers make over 150k weekly.

Those cars that made over 150k-200k weekly, so they are not over used? Just because I demand 50k weekly, then my car will automatically be over used?
What condition did First Bank offer to Uber drivers looking for car loan?
Drivers that have made 2.4M in 6months, that is 100k weekly.
Did you think First Bank is crazy when they set such conditions; they set those conditions to get the right drivers.

You sound so bitter, and I’m very sure, you cannot afford to buy a car on your own.

Come back to talk to me when you can cough out 2.5M-3M to buy a car and demand 30k weekly.

DRIVERS are and will always be the biggest problem of every transportation bizness. One driver said he can do 60k weekly on HP but he finds it difficult to do 40k rental. U need to see where drivers gossip about partners. During d times of ASCON come and see gathering of drivsrs gossiping.
Drivers will always be the problem, because you gave them room to manipulate and frustrate you.
Any Driver that want to do Uber should invest little amount of money, to pay for car rent or a security deposit. Car owners should stop giving cars away, and wait them to work b4 they pay.

If you do Pay as you go, No greedy fleet manager will come to you in the name of managing your Vehicle, some of them want to make above 25% weekly from zero investment, and with pay as you go, you get a correct driver that really wants to work, and you won’t be force to do higher purchase, because drivers want to cheat you on weekly rental.

The solution is in every owners hand, with pay as you go.

This your analogy doesn't fit. If the price of the car is what you use in determining returns, then there's a problem. You could have simply bought a Ferrari or a Porsche so you get a higher weekly remittance
Lol, it won’t fit in because your head will only take you to where you will take advantage.
If you have ever rent a car, you will know that price of Ferrari or Porsche can never be the same with 2010 Toyota Corolla, so the investment won’t fit into Uber business.
When Uber started they started with Uber X and Uber Select, why did they categorize?
Now they remove the luxury version of Uber, because people not using it.

Hello greatman, what do you mean by pay as you go if I may ask?
Pay as you go, means pay me before you take the car and return the car with the same condition, and the same fuel in the car, you are actually renting the car, and I don’t have to wait for you to make money before you pay me.

If you cannot afford weekly pay, then pay daily, if you claim you don’t have money, go sell any of your valuables to start, or go to your brother, cousin or any of your village people to go borrow money to start up Uber driving, you don’t start a business with empty handed.

So many drivers take advantage of use and pay later, some will only come to take the car and make few money with Uber, then use the car to go party and personal businesses, then come back to tell you story.

Experience is the best teacher.
BusinessRe: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by jpworld(m): 1:18am On Apr 21, 2017
In Ajah Golf3 Kabukabu business, when you do deliver its 21k weekly, when you do higher purchase the price will come down to 18k weekly, so the purchaser will have some money to maintain the car.

But in Uber when you do rental is 30k-40k, and when they seek higher purchase they want to pay 50k willingly.
In higher purchase driver take care of the car and still pay up the 50k weekly, and then in rental owner take care of the car with 30k-40k weekly payment

With my calculations the business didn’t add up, most car owners will in no time pull out of the business, when they finally realize they invested their millions to enrich drivers, and then drivers will think I’m the one doing all the hustle, while owner seat @ home and take money from all my effort, simply because he bought this cheap car.

I have also heard many drivers calling Uber greedy for taking 25% for doing nothing, just because they created an ordinary app…LOl

I hope you did not invest on Uber based on what you were told by Uber? Am sure you have also seen people selling their cars because they are not making what Uber told them. A car owner told me based on what Uber told him, he bought a 3.2m car and he wants to give it out on HP for 4.5m for 12 months. That's approximately 100k a week that the driver will be paying him.

I wished him success and left.

One thing you have to understand is that at the end, you lose. The driver will wreck your car and find a new one to drive. That is reality.
As far as a car is on the road every day, travelling from one bad road to the other, it will surely get old faster; the best way is to make sure you maximize your profit within the first 6-12months,
Even if you take 20k a week, the driver will surely try his best to maximize his own profit and still destroy the car, if people are taking off their car from Uber to sell, it’s not because Uber is not lucrative, it’s simply because drivers will always take advantage of owners, who don’t do pay as you go.
If Golf3 sold for 600k use for normal kabukabu in Ajah can be delivering 18k-21k weekly, then why can’t a Toyota Corolla sold 4 times the price of golf3. Deliver 50k weekly.

I never beg you, if you dont want turn left. Im not the person that will invest millions of naira in a business, then be @ a driver's messi.

If Uber can claim drivers make above 150k weekly, then 50k weekly rent is obtainable.

Pay as you go is the key to success in Uber business.
BusinessRe: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by jpworld(m): 12:57pm On Apr 20, 2017
Why is Uber no more updating their newsletter, (Lagos Partner weekender)

Is it because the weekly highest earner has dropped drastically?
I have couple of 2005, 2006, Tokunbo Toyota Corolla registered with Uber, but I can only accept Pay as you go.
Weekly rental (6days) = 50k bottom line.

Daily Rental = 9K bottom line.

Based on my experience in transport business, its advisable to do Pay as you go, every driver should be able to invest little amount of money to make money.

You don’t need any lazy fleet manager to manager your car, just do pay as you go and add other strict conditions and success will be your portion.

In other develop countries, what they do is pay as you go, but here we do pay after usage. which gives room for fraud and manipulation.
