AIRCRAFT REACTIVATION: CAS INSPECTS ONGOING IN-COUNTRY PERIODIC DEPOT MAINTENANCE ON 3 ALPHA JET AIRCRAFT, OTHER PROJECTS IN KAINJI

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, today, 22 January 2019, undertook an inspection visit to 407 Air Combat Training Group (407 ACTG) Kainji to assess progress of the ongoing in-country Periodic Depot Maintenance (PDM) on 3 Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Alpha Jet aircraft. The CAS, who was accompanied by other senior officers from Headquarters (HQ) NAF, was received on arrival in Kainji by the Air Officer Commanding Air Training Command (AOC ATC), Air Vice Marshal Mohammed Suleiman, and briefed on the progress of work by the Commanding Officer 16 Logistics Wing (CO 16 Log Wg), 407 ACTG, Wing Commander Agyo Haruna, who stated that the team of expatriate and NAF engineers and technicians, working jointly, had so far stripped some of the major component parts of the aircraft and were working to get the job done on schedule. The CAS also inspected ongoing work on the Engine Bay, Aircraft Electrical and Instruments Engineering Workshop as well as the Offices of Hangar Chief and Engine Dock Chief, among others, which were being renovated and upgraded with modern test equipment and new furniture to improve the maintenance capacity of the Wing. While in Kainji, the CAS also inspected the construction work on a block of 18 units of 2-bedroom Married Senior Non Commissioned Officers (SNCOs) Accommodation, as well as other facilities in the Base.

In his remarks after the inspection tour, the CAS expressed satisfaction with the progress of work on the PDM and also commended the Commander 407 ACTG, Squadron Leader Kingsley Igwegbe, and CO Eng Wg for their hard work, commitment and dedication in ensuring steady progress of the job. He emphasized that, apart from hastening the overall timeframe of the maintenance job, the in-country PDM, would allow the NAF engineers and technicians involved in the project to build their capacity to enable them ultimately carry out major aspects of such high level maintenance activities on their own in the future. The CAS therefore urged the personnel to make maximum use of the opportunity to enhance NAF’s self-reliance. Speaking further, Air Marshal Abubakar noted that completion of the in-country PDM would boost the NAF’s Air Power employment capability by increasing the number of Alpha Jet aircraft available for combat operations in the various Theatres of Conflict. The CAS said HQ NAF, on its part, would continue to do its utmost, to improve the welfare of personnel. “The human being is the most critical factor to the effective and efficient performance of any organization. Hence, we will continue to place premium on addressing the welfare needs of our personnel”, he said. The CAS and members of his team have since returned to Abuja.

Like i said, I believe we're getting 6 x units of JF-17 Block II. The budget for the Nigerian Air Force says so.

Look at the 2018 and 2019 Budgets.

You'll see that we have in 2018 , JF-17 (new)
In the 2019 for the same line item, JF-17 (Ongoing)

So 6 confirmed units of JF-17.

Is it the same Aw101 that had a mishap at TAC undergoing maintainance or has it been written off , and I have not been seeing our super puma's in the front lines lately.

I see some people justifying what the soldiers did, regardless of the crimes those men have committed, those soldiers should be tried and sentence to life in prison for their execution.
You can't claim to be a profession fighting force while executing unarmed combatants, I'm pretty sure those soldiers violated so many laws right there, including murder, you don't become what you are trying to stop.
Personally, I support killing these guys the moment they are caught, but that's just impulses, which is why laws are in place to check them
They kept mentioning the guys were responsible for laying mine on their routes.
Generally phones shouldn't be allowed on battle field.

What baffled me the most was the guys didn't attempt to run, they even didn't feel the bullet pain, one had to bend his back before he decided to die.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says it would soon take delivery of 12 newly acquired aircraft from the United States as part of renewed efforts to end the insurgency in the Northeast.
The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Saddique Abubakar, stated this while inaugurating “Modular Theatre” at the 465 Nigeria Air Force Hospital in Kano on Saturday.
He said the Air Force is also expecting six gunship helicopters from Italy, saying the aircraft and helicopters will enhance the operational capacity of the force.

‪With assistance from British Military Advisory Training Team (BMATT) and Four Troop Team, NAF RTC has trained 2,251 FP-CAGE and SF personnel in the past 3 years, significantly boosting @NigAirForce force protection and SF capability in line with the capacity building initiatives of the CAS. Details later. ‬

If people don't understand simple procurement procedures they should not be commenting. Some people still have their simple minds. To 're convert pilots alone is more than a year. The planes are not in a showroom. The FLIR systems, rockets, rocket kits are not available in a mall.
The planes are probably coming in 3s and 4s starting from 2020
If this wasn't on your post
" If people don't understand simple procurement procedures they should not be commenting. Some people still have their simple minds"
I would have replied you with respect, but being childish is natural, I will just allow you grow until you become an adult.

Imagine this guy, if you understand much about procurement can't you just educate others without insult.
