Trump is a dealmaker. He hates all the bureaucracy, in fact he complains that goods are delayed and not supplied on time blaming past professional politicians like Obama & Biden who sacrificed growth for political correctness. He wants to sell sell sell. We can be more ambitious. Trump likes Nigeria.
He mention the free $1.8b cash the Obama government gave the Iranians, and said Nigeria will need such kind of money grin grin grin

NAF TAKES DELIVERY OF SECOND BATCH OF MI-35M HELICOPTER GUNSHIPS, INTERNAL SECURITY OPERATIONS RECEIVE A BOOST

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) today, 30 April 2018, took delivery of two Mi-35M helicopter gunships that the Federal Government had since ordered from Russia. The Antonov aircraft, which brought the new Mi-35M helicopters, touched down on the runway at NAF Base Makurdi at exactly 12.20pm today. The Chief of Aircraft Engineering at NAF Headquarters, Air Vice Marshal Abdulganiyu Olabisi, received the new aircraft on behalf of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar. A combined team of NAF personnel and Russian technicians were also on hand to assist in offloading the partially assembled new helicopters, some parts of which came in crates. In addition, officials of the Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigeria Immigration Service were present to ensure necessary documentation. The newly delivered helicopters, which are capable of night fighting, are all brand new and are the most sophisticated in the Mi-series of helicopter gunships.

The newly received combat helicopters form the second batch of the fleet of Mi-35M helicopters, the procurement of which the current Federal Government Administration initiated in Year 2015. At the inception of the current NAF leadership in 2015, it was realized that modern Mi-helicopter gunships with night-fighting capability needed to be procured towards enhancing the operational capability of the NAF. Consequently, the delivery of the helicopter gunships would go a long way in adding impetus to the current efforts at combatting the security challenges in Benue State and other parts of the North Central Region as well as other forms of criminality facing the country. In addition, with the delivery of the additional Mi-35M helicopters, the on-going counterinsurgency operation in the Northeast has just received a boost.

It would be recalled that the NAF took delivery of the first batch of 2 brand new Mi-35M helicopters in December 2016, following which the helicopters were inducted and had since been contributing significantly to the counterinsurgency and other Internal Security operations in the country. Furthermore, some NAF personnel had undergone training in Russia, as Pilots and technicians on the Mi-35M helicopters, as part of the contract. Sequel to the hitch-free delivery, a team of Russian and NAF technicians will now complete the assembly of the newly received helicopters in Nigeria prior to test flying. Thereafter, the helicopter gunships will be formally inducted into the NAF, as part of the activities to mark the 54th anniversary celebrations of the Service.

1.3 million tonnes of steel per year. Low but ok for a start. There is another big one with 7 plants in the delta region too.. If we have the transfer of technology, we should be able to build more to meet the Nigerian demand alone.

They estimated Nigeria’s present steel production at about 300,000 tonnes per annum, while consumption, as shown by recent studies in 2010, is above 20 million tonnes per annum.

Still far to meet demand but a good start is what we just need.
With 1.3mt annually why do you think we should be threat to NATO......China exports 46.8mt, Japan 37.1mt, Ukraine 23.0mt, Russia 17.1mt, south Korea 9.9mt follow by the EUROPEAN UNIOUN which just export 7.9mt, if we even start producing steel we will not even contain our domestic consumption not to talk of export. So how can we be a threat to NATO.

@Scully95 let's say Ajaokuta steels is fully functional, how many metric tonnes of steel do you think it can produce annually.

Well, that is not how it works. First is usually military power before you can get a guaranteed growth. You may think this is funny because you dont know how the Germans steel industry gave them power to build tanks and all sorts of weapons which made them even more techonologically advance but they never knew they were also dealing with Russia which is also as at the time almost the same.

Did you read history at all ? How do you build bombs ? Carrier vehicle is made of plastic or paper right ? What do you use in carrier viehicle ? Bullet is what ? Plastic abi ? 50 caliber bullet is made of plastic, paper or ata gungun abi ?

Yes, from my deep findings again, NATO will not allow Nigeria to operate Ajaokuta. They will continue to sabottage it. This is why ObJ played politics with Nigeria's future. My findings show that there is no political will to put it back to life.

My opinion here "I bet the empire must have threatened OBJ as at the time and OBJ to save Nigeria from the stress played Politics with Nigeria's future. Sabotage the deal by selling it out to unknown company with no pedigree in that area and that will never complete it. From my findings GEJ managed to take back the deal from the saboteurs".
Stop embarrassing your self abeg.

MISSING DAPCHI GIRLS: CAS TEMPORARILY RELOCATES TO MAIDUGURI, NSA COMMISSIONS PROJECTS TO EXTEND REACH OF NAF HELICOPTERS

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, has temporarily relocated to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Base at Maiduguri, from where the air search operations for the missing Dapchi girls are being coordinated. This is in order to have first hand information on the progress of the air search efforts and also give additional directives as might be necessary. The National Security Adviser (NSA), Mohammed Monguno was equally at the NAF Base Maiduguri, where he spoke to and encouraged the NAF personnel involved in the day and night air search operations. Furthermore, both the NSA and the CAS visited Damaturu, where they paid a courtesy call on His Excellency, Governor Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe State, during which they held useful discussions regarding the missing girls. Later in the day, the NSA, accompanied by the CAS and other top military officers, travelled to Monguno to commission new projects at 171 NAF Detachment Monguno. The newly commissioned projects include the Unit’s Headquarters Complex, a block of 4 Single Officers’ Quarters, a block of 10 flats for airmen/airwomen and 2 helipads, all of which have just been constructed.

According to the Commander of the Air Task Force, Air Vice Marshal Idi Lubo, air power projection has limitations, one of which is reach. He therefore expressed his delight, noting that with the commissioning of the projects at 171 NAF Detachment Monguno, the NAF had just extended the reach of its helicopters. In his remarks at the commissioning ceremony, the CAS stated that the projects were undertaken in pursuit of the NAF’s commitment to ensuring security in the Northeast. He added that the NAF would continue to deploy air assets in all parts of the country towards ensuring that Nigerians are able to prosecute their businesses in a safe and secured environment. On the missing Dapchi girls, Air Marshal Abubakar declared that no efforts would be spared by the NAF in locating the girls, in conjunction with other security forces. He disclosed that NAF pilots on different NAF platforms were operating day and night to locate the girls, adding that he had decided to temporarily relocate to Maiduguri, given the import of the unfortunate incident.

While commissioning the projects, the Special Guest of Honour, Mohammed Monguno, lauded the monumental achievements of the NAF under its current leadership. He recalled that 171 NAF Detachment Monguno was only established in 2017; he was therefore surprised to see all that had been accomplished within the short period. He described the feats as a testimony to the zeal and commitment of the CAS to repositioning the NAF into a highly professional force in line with his clearly stated vision. The NSA also described the establishment of NAF presence in Monguno as being long overdue, as it would add the much needed value to the efforts of the other security agencies in ensuring peace in the Northeast. Speaking further, the NSA commended the NAF for its immense contributions to the overall efforts at degrading the capability of the Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) while urging NAF personnel to remain steadfast. He equally seized the opportunity to appreciate President Buhari for his support to the Armed Forces of Nigeria in ensuring the sustenance of operations.

Also commissioned yesterday, by the NSA, were a newly constructed Fire Fighting and an Aircraft Arming Bay at NAF Base Maiduguri. It is recalled that the Dapchi girls were declared missing on 19 February 2018 after reported attacks by BHTs following which the NAF immediately commenced an air search for them. The NAF has had to deploy additional air assets, including Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platforms, to the Northeast, on 25 February 208, in a renewed effort at locating the missing girls. The CAS was still in the Northeast as at the time of writing this report.
