The Rhino Rescue Project in South Africa uses GPS technology & Bell 407GT helicopters to combat Rhino poaching in Kruger National Park. Kenya is using drones to help stop elephant poaching at Kora National Park. Nigeria is still using Human beings on 4x4 Toyota Hilux to respond to herdsmen attacks.

Detection and then Reaction are the key to overhem your enemy. Air support are a morale booster, finding the enemy is the hardest part and having aerial power sure does help with that. It takes 3-5 hours to respond to Herdsmen attacks and in some instances a whole day due to the remoteness of the areas attacked. 1 Helicopter can effectively patrol 2 million hectares of farmland in 30 minutes.

Imagine having helicopters equipped with a forward-looking infrared (FLIR) night vision (NV) and FLIR/WESCAM thermal imaging and other advanced sensors that are capable of discerning and tracking personnel from extreme distance as well as analyzing and pinpointing possible hides and entrance, exit routes use.

Cheap helicopters like Aerospatiale Gazelle and Bell 407 can operate far beyond the visual range of these killers, they are camouflaged, fitted with low visibility, low-noise blades and equipped with reinforced under-carriages, designed to protect the crew from hostile action and most importantly, they can be fitted and armed with FN Minimi 5.56 mm light machine guns.

The carnage will probably continue until the realities on ground are rewritten to reflect the reality of modern war. Instead of reflecting on why the current strategies are not working, FFK, CAN and their associates have an opportunity to pour out the anti-Islamic venom on an issue that is purely criminal. It was just a coincidence as there was political rally in Nigeria too yesterday. The ruling APC with almost all top politicians in Nigeria yesterday assembled at Eagles square, here in Abuja. That would have score more point for anyone trying to pass a message to Africa.

It would be almost imposible to plant such explosive at Eagle Square without it being detected.

Yeah! The Rafale cockpit looks very simple which might make it easy to operate, unlike the Gripen with the gizmo light display all around, but it beautiful though.

Dana Air Flight 992 was a scheduled domestic commercial passenger flight from Abuja to Lagos, Nigeria.

On Sunday, 3 June 2012, the McDonnell Douglas MD-83 aircraft operating the flight crashed into a furniture works and printing press building in the Iju-Ishaga neighbourhood of Lagos.

The crash resulted in the deaths of all 153 people on board and 10 more on the ground.

The crash of Flight 992 is the deadliest aviation disaster involving a McDonnell Douglas MD-83, as well as the second-deadliest involving an MD-80 series aircraft, behind Inex-Adria Aviopromet Flight 1308.

It is also the second-deadliest aircraft crash on Nigerian soil, behind the Kano air disaster of 1973.

Besides, what I'm seeing in that picture is not a C check. It's more of a complete overhauling, possibly upgrade and service life extension of the aircraft. That's more than your ordinary C check.

Yeah I think its a total overhaul, early this year Aero contractors started c checks for Boeing fleet @ their facilities in Lagos but I think it doesn't apply to military planes. But this could be a total overhaul/upgrade of those C-130's packed(storage) @ NAF hangers close to MMA2 in Lagos, but the pix of the 913 could just be regular maintainace since it has been fully in service for a long while.

The Nigerian army has upped its game in the battle to rid criminality from the country. According to an online report, the Nigerian Army on Thursday received some large cache of assorted arms and ammunition from its foreign defense partners. The army also received delivery of engines of armoured tanks, bullet proof vests and spare parts of armoured vehicles.

The military items were delivered after touching down yesterday at Nnamdi Azikiwe International airport in Abuja.
