nigeria has betrayed AFRICA!!! RIDICULOUS!!! what has mugabe done to promote the so called pan-africanism he always loves to preach. where was he when nigeria devoted her resources to aiding the independence of other african nations or how about all the largely successful peace keeping missions that we conducted to stabilize varoius countries in africa. yet one he-goat who has only been successful at sabotaging his nation's economy or any hopes of democracy for that matter. and the most painful part is that some IDIOTS "agree" with this lunatic. |

LordReed: Forgetting SFX for a moment I think Superman (I actually preferred Superman II) is worth it. Christopher Reeves WAS and will be to many people the Superman. He was picture perfect for the role.
Blade was the first black superhero on big screen so it was a big deal. It also helped that the film did well in the box office.
GOTG is the one I agree with you on. hmmmm..... you have a point. i never particularly liked the first superman movie though. i can now see how blade might have made the list. stll think GOTG was grossly overrated. |

there s no doubt that currently, marvel enjoys more commercial success than dc. however, i still prefer dc mostly for their animations and comics. dc has had some of the most critically acclaimed comic storylines of all times. heck THE WATCHMEN (a dc comic) was the only graphic novel/comic to make it to the new york times list of top 100 greatest novels. dc just feels more epic/grand to me. not to mention, aquaman rocks!!!! just my opinion though. |

TV/Movies › Re: How Nolan And Snyder Ruined Superhero Movies by JUHABACH: 6:41am On May 06, 2015 |
tottinova: The other week, thanks to a particularly enterprising bootlegger, Warner Bros. was forced into an early reveal of the first trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice—filmmaker Zack Snyder’s $200 million+ mega- blockbuster that pits Henry Cavill’s Superman against Ben Affleck’s cleft-chinned Batman. But the early footage—the film isn’t due in theaters until March 25, 2016—served as yet another example of where DC Comics’ cinematic universe went wrong. Christopher Nolan and Zack Snyder’s formula of dark hues, baritone voices, and humorless, stoic heroes is no longer as innovative as it was way back in 2005 when Nolan’s Batman Begins hit theaters. At the time, the Batman franchise had been hijacked by Joel Schumacher, whose gaudy, oversaturated monstrosity Batman & Robin led star George Clooney to issue an apology to fans at last year’s Comic-Con: “I just met Adam West and I apologized to him. Sorry for the nipples on the suit.” Furthermore, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) hadn’t been established, leading to misguided efforts like the stinker Daredevil , Ang Lee’s over-edited Hulk, and the cartoonish Fantastic Four. Nolan’s dark, realistic take on Batman served as a welcome respite from the superhero fray—an iconic hero facing bullets, knives, and real-world situations. Things changed with 2008’s Iron Man , the first film in the canonized MCU. Filmmaker Jon Favreau and star Robert Downey Jr.’s spin on Tony Stark/Iron Man elegantly combined real-world commentary, huge action set pieces, and a wink-and-smile playfulness that set the template for future MCU entries, from Captain America: The First Avenger and Guardians of the Galaxy to this weekend’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. It struck just the right balance of seriousness and silliness, retaining that lighthearted comic book tone and allowing it to appeal to comic-consuming and superhero-loving fans of all ages. Comic book superheroes are outsiders blending into and learning to protect and love a world that doesn’t understand them. So we need to know why they’ve fallen in love with this world in the first place. ?? |

kraftykc: I have to ask, seeing as this is the golden age of live action comic movies what has been the magnum opus of them all? What are the best 3 comic movie ever made till date IN YOUR OPINION?
My list: 3. The Dark Knight (one word; Ledger. I still have goose bumps remembering his performance).
2. X-Men, Days of Future Past (I keep crying tears of joy when I consider the muck that has been erased from that glorious timeline. The Wolverine Origin story, the Last Stand and The Wolverine 2014...all gloriously gone)
1. The Watchmen (This film...has the most powerful storyline and execution I have ever seen in a superhero movie. It is a cinematic classic and Ozymandas as a villain was near perfect. Even Dr Manhattan...was majestic. But they don't even compare to the perfection that was Rorschach. Fueking heellll! That is the best made superhero ever put on TV! great taste. the only thing missing from your list is v for vendetta. honestly, i feeling the watchmen is probably the most under-appreciated CBM of the decade. |

Politics › Re: Buhari's Social Program: Very Possible. by JUHABACH: 8:37am On Apr 20, 2015 |
Flets: OP like many Nigerians are shallow economists. So many holes can be easily picked from the quack calculations
1a. Where is the 13% derivation to the oil producing states? Or you assumed the FG takes the full 60% of crude sales revenue? ..... and even after 13% deduction, only 54% of the residual 47% (excluding 13% for producing states and 40% for the IOCs) of total crude sales revenue goes to the FG.
1b. FG budget is for FG expenditure alone. FG does not budget for states...... so where are the state allocations funded from since they are not captured in the FG budget?.... for your education, 46% of the residual revenue is meant for states and LGs.
2. Where do you think the capital cost of oil and gas projects come from for which the FG pays its 60% share? Or you think the oil flows on its own without spending money?
3. 2.65trillion of the 4.69trillion IGR you quoted on FIRS is already petroleum profit. Go back check the details and confirm you have double dipped same funds on both sources.
4. Your assumption that FG takes all the IGR generated by FIRS is wrong. Discount the amount accruable to the states first in your calculations.
5. What funds the external reserves or all revenues must be spent on recurrent expenditure?
Our revenue economics is not as simple as you lot think. Now that political campaigns are over, its time to educate Nigerians that our revenues are not limitless and some campaign points are not achievable albeit sustainable.
Assuming, Buhari miracously finds some fraction of the funds required for the welfare programs, how do you identify the poorest of the poor Nigerians deserving of the 5K?, What database is available to identify the welfare recipients? We even struggle to identify bonafide Nigerians much more low income earners.
Every effort to defend economic impossibilties reveals the shallowness of the incoming government.

Csami: Oga match break there! What's wrong with V for vendetta? I know DC have many bad movies but they do have some good movies too. If you think DC movies are thought provoking why don't you think deep after watching a marvel movie. The real thing about all movies is that, they are all thought provoking. the closest the MCU has to a "thought provoking" movie is captain america;TWS. please tell me, what is so thought provoking about the avengers or thor or GOTG or thor 2 or the ironman triology. p.s. i m not saying they are not good movies. |
TV/Movies › Re: DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE (FILM) by JUHABACH: 6:50pm On Apr 19, 2015 |
Minemrys: Guy from the trailer you'll see that its no longer following the superhero trope. symbolism and signs and its grounding in symbolism. its like what would happen if someone like supes were to exist. would humanity still be the same. would we still believe in God almighty? but at marvel after the chitauri attack no one talked about it. its like everyone forgot what happened. no real consequences. but from man of steel u see many don't trust superman even till now. thats the difference btwn marvel and DC. if you want great pop corn flicks, marvel is the one for you. however, if you want movies that are actually thought provoking, then DC is the obvious choice (v for vendetta, watchmen, TDK triology) |
