Agriculture / Re: 40 Cucumbers Per Plant And 12kg Tomatoes Per Plant by Juliana7: 1:49am On May 21, 2019
Pistotita:

Yes. It is true.

Juliana. A bro or a sis?

Two reasons:

Number 1:
Padma:
High Resistance- tomato mosaic virus, Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. lycopersici race 1, 2, Verticillium dahliae ,
Intermediate Resistance: Bacterial Wilt

Platanium:
High Resistance -Tomato mosaic virus Verticillium Dahliae
intermediate resistance: Bacterial Wilt, Tomato Yellow Leaf Curl Virus

Fusarium 1,2,3 are rampant during rainy season. Padma knocks out 1 and 2. Though can be controlled with fungicides.

TYLCV is a virus caused by whiteflies. And very deadly. Though you can use special pesticides. But during rainy season, you hardly have challenges with virus.

Number 2:
Parma aborts fruits with high heat. This is the main reason. It has poor heat fruit setting. Heat aborts the flowers.

The main reason I do not consider East West tomato cultivars is because non of their seeds can tolerate Early and Late Blight. Too bad. If blight occurs, one is screwed. So, the option left is not to joke with special fungicides for early blights. One of such chemical is around N15,000 to N21,000 for just 500ml. And you need it continuously. Cos it it catches blight at any stage, you are screwed.

In General, fear these diseases: Bacterial Wilt, TYCLV, Early Blight, Late Blight. These are tropical terrible diseases. Also be ready to face Vd, Fol 3, and TMV.

There are techniques to go about this. Various styles. Most farmers find them too expensive. But the ones who followed good counsel always return.

Sure, you can use either padma or Platanium. But there are better solutions with better yield and with lesser stress. They are just more expensive. But reward is great, and maintenance is cheaper too.
i`m a bro, cant i.m.o or pseudomonia help with d bacterial problem. So sir for a farmer who is serious so open pollinated varieties can not be used for rainy or dry season? Pls sir can i send u a message? Thanks.

Agriculture / Re: 40 Cucumbers Per Plant And 12kg Tomatoes Per Plant by Juliana7: 2:02pm On May 13, 2019
EC
I favor EC over TDS. Though, I usually buy 4 in 1 meter with EC, TDS, Temp, and PH.

Transplanting to blossom - 1.0mS
Blossom (2 weeks) - 1.5mS
Fruiting till the end - 2.0mS

pls sir, in plain language what is the meaning of the above. Thanks

Agriculture / Re: How To Cultivate Hot Pepper And Make Huge Profit - Part One by Juliana7: 1:02pm On Apr 28, 2019
okoroemeka:
that is the problem it is too simple and concise, the biggest question and obstacle facing pepper farmers is the variety to use in what season,he didn't address that and it will make or destroy a farm,if you plant hybrid pepper during rainy season u have to be on your toes because resistance has been sacrificed for yield and vigor, but local varieties will hold firm, this is a tough decision on with variety of pepper to plant this rainy season until I called hybrid veggies himself on the account of the success he is having with East West seed,if he can recommend any of their varieties,lo and behold he told us to forget hybrid during rainy season and plant proven local varieties, hmm, from the oracles mouth itself.
wow! Thanks for this priceless info. @okoroemeka is this equally applicable to tomato too?

okoroemeka:
If you have a good and fertile land, don't let it lie fallow, with good management ₦100k will start and maybe finish pepper project on 2 plots,if know what u are doing with good agricultural practice you can get ₦500k easily before it dies off.this is the rough estimate we used to set up a 2 plot farm, but note the cost may vary from location to location.(1) clearing 4 workers₦6,000(2) digging of holes and preparation 2 workers ₦4,000or ridges ₦8,000(3)manure/application ₦6,000,(4)seed 20gram ₦10,000,(4) fungicide/foliar/insecticide ₦10,000,(5)npk151515 one bag ₦8,000,(6)1st weeding 4 workers ₦4,800.(7)2nd weeding ₦5,000.this is what will push 2 plots of roughly 1000 pepper stands.
pls sir, is this estimate for when pepper is scarce(off season) at d market, saturated(on-season) or just general estimate? Thanks

many people make the mistake of using only foliar spray for fertilization,it's wrong, granular npk is the power booster, while the foliar spray supply precise amounts of trace elements that is needed in small quantities by crops
pls sir, what about a foliar spray that as NPK and micro nutrient. Can we use just only such?

hmm,we have not done anything to the melon,we are so busy that we forgot the melon, even common fungicide or foliar we have not sprayed, thank God we applied good manure and nematicide before planting that why all insects ran away, they are crawling now with small tendrils appearing,it's time for 1st NPK/urea application, but I will give it to this melons no amount of sunlight can shake them,we irrigate every 3 days but their heat tolerance is unbelievable,no wonder they said it originated from the desert, and thing noticed is that no nematicide ,no vegetables farming for us as simple as that, that thing kills anything that flew, crawl, jumped or wriggled near the melons, including snails, centipede, millipedes, worms of various categories, caterpillars of different models, bettles of all colours, but only drawback it also kills earthworm, but a small price to pay for a good yield.
thank u sir for d info. Thanks
