Fortunately for me I planted before rainy season.I didn't apply any insecticide or fungicide. Although I applied soap insecticide to kill cabbage loopers.Spacing is very important, that can solve 70% of pest and insect infestation. Watermelon are vines, they need space to spread, insufficient space brings pests and diseases
. Thanks. Pls what cultivar did u plant?

Agriculture / Re: Ask Pigbarn Any Questions About PIG FARMING. by Juliana7: 12:53pm On Mar 04, 2020
PigBarn:

A gilt comes at heat properly at 6months, normal I advice gilt should be crossed at 7month at the stage the reproductive system is well formed and strong enough to farrow large litter of piglets.
A gilts ability to give birth to large number of piglets also depends on some factors like:

Its good to buy gilts from farms that keep good records of there pigs, so as to know if the mother of the gilt you buying farrowed much piglets. If it does not farrow an average of 10 piglets each time it gives birth then you buying a bad gilt, it won't farrow much piglets.

You should ensure you count the number of nipples on the gilt stomach you buying, it shouldn't be less than 14.

The boar plays a very important role when it comes to mating of a gilt. Serve your gilt a boar that is not too heavy and not too temperamental, since that's going to be her first time. A boar that is too heavy and too temperamental won't be comfortable for the gilt and this may cause little penetration and low semen intake by the gilt reducing the chances of it having much piglets.

Ensure you take the gilt to the pen of the boar, to avoid distraction for fight of dominance. The boar feels more comfortable when his been served and won't spend time trying to explore its new environment.

Ensure the boar mating the gilt its not been exposed to the sun to avoid sperm weakness in the boar.

The floor of the pig pen shouldn't be slippery to avoid the boar from sliding away when it climbs the gilt.

Signs:
When a gilt or a sow comes on heat the vulva of the gilts swells out, it becomes pink red in colour for 2-7 days maximum within this days I advice the boar and gilt be left alone to sleep in same pen for 7 days or until she goes off heat.

There is also a heat stand check done on gilts by one standing behind the gilt and pressing his too hands on the gilts waist, if she is on heat she will stand still but if she's not she will walk away.

Note.
A gilt comes back on heat 21 days after counting from the last day of its last heat.

thanks op. You are awesome. Pls sir what about "flushing" for sow, so school of thought says give more protein another says give more energy food. 2. My second question is how do we prevent or guard against diarrhea for weaners. Thanks, God bless u

.

Do reason this op at your own risk.
And the only thing you will see from your harvest are just quantum leafs.

Leafs that are weaker than a white man scrap food!

You will soon use chemical calculation to grow cloths and jeans in large quantity.

Lol!!

No chemical been called here you dont know.
Sotey you even have your own lab you created by yourself grin

this is the short version of all i just said here for those of you with long reading problems grin
bros, u must be a clown, going by the rubbish u have written here. What d op, did succeed in doing in this thread is teaching concepts and principles, all that is expected from all and sundry is to research further whether the OP is right or wrong, this helps with robust interaction and better understanding of the science in crop farming. You said u know how to make seeds to become hybrid, hmmm, is it not becos u understand d concept and wherewithal(science) behind how to achieve that. U have been spamming almost every thread just to sell ur low life and cheap e-book. I don't like people like u who disparage, soil people's good work becos u what to sell cheap ebook. Mr clown u have nothing to offer my ebook.

There is always something to learn from one another, wisdom/knowledge doesn't reside with one man in any field in life that is why we have thread/platform like this to learn from one another. The best thing that can happen platform as this is when constructively pooh-pooh people's opinion/fact by producing a superiot opinion/fact. Pls lets learn to respect each other. I have known FMCASH some years back from a piggery whatsapp group and some other groups, the guy is good. Pls anytime we want to puncture ppl's opinion lets do it love to benifit all. Thanks

it seems u have not been following/reading from the beginning of this thread. @pistotita have dissected everything about how to get such by stating some cultivars to attain such and how to go about it. If what u stated above is to see pics before u get convinced that indeed is achievable or not. Hmmm. It simply means u have not read d concepts and principles @pistotita have repeatedly stated on this thread and be extension carry out ur own research to better understand concepts or pooh-pooh it. For me the info @pistotita have given here for free is enough for me to know that this guy is a practical farmer who knows is stuff, i don't need any pics or to visit is farm to know that this is real good mehn!. Lets encourage its likes who take it upon to real what to help other farms. Yes, we can disagree with him in areas we know and convinvingly believe he is wrong, yes, we need such constructive and healthy criticism that will our lots in every facet of our life. Thanks

Bro, thanks for this. Never realise people are following me like this. Well, @Inspectahdeck seems well grounded in his area too, you are very correct. Infact, I have highlighted points I will ask him especially in the area of glyphsate usage. Yeah, it seems he understands how to use it well. Cos for me it is a big problem asking my workers use it if I am not on farm. Maize farming is a business that involves special skills in handling workers. I have to accept that I must improve in that area. Trying to learn from people how they get those stubborn men and women do the job well. grin Perhaps if I get the trick better, I can improve on using people more than using technology because it seems many still feel it is a cheaper method. And if this OP @ifedola28 dives into vegetables, starting with sweet corn, she has the potential of being successful.

But I don't want to hijack, or distort her style of writing. She deserves to get her points out clearly. So, for me, I am stepping back, but following her.

Once again, thank you for your kind words. They mean so much to me.
@Boss pistotita, I greet u. Thanks op for this awesome thread

Thanks for the review.

I know just a few places along that axis where I get my very own seeds if I ain't buying online. These are some places I have visited;

1. Agric bus-stop, just after Barracks before getting to Volks.

2. There's also an Agritropic outlet there.

3. Iyana-Iba / Lasu Road. Where most of the farmers in front of Lasu get their seeds and agrochemicals

4. There's an Agritropic outlet at the New shopping complex at Agbara Bus/stop.

5. You can also visit Coconut House at Ikoga, Badagry. Though not that stocked up last time I visited.

6. You can likewise visit Songhai if anything takes you to Ikoga in the first place. It is a place to behold.

Those are the few places I have visited to window shop seeds grin
pls sir, how do u get ur seed online?
