Christianity Etc › Why I Converted From Islam To Christianity by Julivas(op): 8:22am On Mar 20, 2020 |
https://news-af.feednews.com/news/detail/17f8b65c15e39af177ef35cee97a7358?client=newsWhy I Converted From Islam to Christianity. opera.comMar 14, 2020 3:03 AM I converted from Islam to Christianity simply because Islam gives no guarantee of salvation. Because Islam recognises that Jesus is 'the word of God' so God "the Messiah therefore the savior ( Surah 3 v 45). Because Allah recognises in the Qur'an that thoe who follow Jesus Christ (Christians)will be above those who do not follow Jesus Christ ( Muslims and others)until resurrection ( surah 3 v 55). Because Qur'an itself recognises that Jesus Christ is without sin (pure) (surah 19 v 19),while the Qur'an asks Mohammed to pray for the forgiveness of his sins ( surah 40 v 55). Unlike Mohammed,Jesus has lived more than 33 years without ever sinning. I converted because where Mohammed recommends the killing of enemies ( surah 9 v 5) Jesus Christ recommend loving them (Matthew 5 v 44). Mohammed just affirmed, but Jesus Christ confirmed his words with all kinds of miracles and resurrection of the death. I converted because Mohammed is asking the Muslims to turn to Christians to get the truth ( surah 10 v 94). I converted because despite Mohammed's claim to be the seal of the prophets,he is dead and will never return, but Jesus Christ whom I hated before died and resurrected and will come back to fight the Antichrist ( even according to Islam). I converted because despite Jesus Christ being surrounded by several women,he did not seek to have s*x with them unlike Mohammed who even had sex with Zaynab the wife of his son Zaid, surah (33 v 37). And also because uptil this day,tye name Jesus delivers all kinds of captivity unlike the name of Mohammed. Because Mohammed recognises that he doesn't know where he and the Muslims will be after death surah ( 46 v 9). I converted because Mohammed says all Muslims will go through hell (surah 19 v 71) while Jesus Christ gives eternal life to all those who come to him ( heaven) John 3 v 17. I converted because Jesus never attacked someone to take something from him, while Mohammed claims war booty surah (8 v 1). I converted because the birth of Jesus Christ changed the whole world and not a community and many more reasons. So my brother my sister, only Jesus Christ saves. He is the way, truth and life. When I was a Muslim,I believed in everything we were taught about the Christians and the Bible and today that I became a Christian and read the Bible,I realise that what we were told is all wrong. Jesus was never a Muslim,he is the savior of the world and He loves you and wants to save you. Give your heart to him. I pray that the Lord God will bless those who share this article. |

*Topic : Forsaken all for multiple returns and life eternaal* *Text : Matthew 19 : 29* *And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.*
Following up to the last daily devotions on Saturday that dealt with entangling not thyself with ephemeral things, today's devotion is admonishing us to take a step further to forsake all.
This advice was not given without the provison of a soft landing. Our Lord Jesus Christ promised us that jettisoning all to do His bidding, not only we will be rewarded back in 100 folds, but also we will have eternal life.
What does it mean to forsake all?
Does it mean to abandon our loved ones, careers, education, ambitions among others?
No!
Then what does it mean?
Forsaking all because of Him is not to allow anything to come between you and Him. As a career person, you will not allow your progress in that career to affect your relationship with Him, like skipping the assembly of the brethren often and often . You will not oblige those that you cherish when they advise you not to do the will of the LORD.
It is serving the Lord above board no matter the challenges from all quarters.
The question for the moment is, wll you forsake all because of Him?
Remember that as you answer affirmatively, you are reaping back in 100 folds plus eternal life.
Though the spirit may be willing, but the flesh is weak, God shall release the enablement to do this for us in Jesus name, amen.
Father, help me to live above all that may want to come between YOU and I. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Respond With Love by Julivas(m): 4:30pm On Feb 21, 2020 |
kpakpandoN: “But I say unto you, Love your enemies bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;” Matthew 5:44
As Christians, we are called to a lifestyle of love – unconditional love even towards enemies and unfriendly people.
Some years ago, I went to see a man in his office and although he knew I have arrived, he kept me waiting. He probably thought I would get angry and leave, but I waited patiently. Finally, after several hours, he came in to attend to me and met me smiling. He found it hard to believe. “You waited?” He asked and I responded “Yes sir.” Immediately, his previously unfriendly countenance towards me changed. Today, that ‘unfriendly’ man has a house in Redemption Camp. Responding with love to those who wrong you will confuse and win them over to your side.
Have people been hurting you with their words and actions? From now on, smile and do good to them. Is anyone persecuting you because you are a Christian? Why not pray for them to have an encounter with Christ, so they can change? When you respond with love to those who hate you, some may see you as a fool and try to advise you otherwise. Ignore them and obey the counsel of Jesus because 1st Corinthians 1:25 says “…the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.”
Don’t abuse or insult anybody, your words should be seasoned with salt (Colossians 4:6). Don’t try to avenge yourself because vengeance is of God and not man (Romans 12:19) Don’t pray for your persecutors to die because God is not interested in the death of a sinner (Ezekiel 18:23, 32). No matter what you are going through in the hands of anyone, always respond in love. By doing so, you will save yourself and the person too and this is the will of God. Written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye. Nice one. This is the hallmark of being called a Christian. May God help us to manifest this virtue unconditionally . |

Topic : Mind fits for God's Kingdom Text : Matthew 19 : 14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
Some sets of peoples came to Jesus for one or the other. While some came to get their loved ones healed, some (the Pharisees) came to tempt Him, and then came the little ones (the children ) .
All were attended to by Jesus Christ accordingly without any restrictions even not excluding those who came for the purpose of finding fault in Him. The set of people that came with an open and innocent mind were the only one resisted from getting access to Jesus Christ.
When you are pure and innocent, expect resistance, but be of good cheer because the Lord will vindicate you. Only those who have the mind like that of children can enter the kingdom of God.
It is a mind that doesn't hold grudge against anyone. This is the reason why we see children playing together few minutes after they fought one another, whereas if the same thing happened to adults, they can hold unto it for over two years and even more if care is not taken.
It is a heart that is sincere and forgive unconditionally without any form of resentment.
Colossians 3 : 13 NLT says Make allowance for each other's faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.
The grace to have this kind of mind, the Lord will give us in Jesus name, amen.
Father, grant me a mind like Christ Jesus, a mind that forgave even at the point of death. |

*Gsa Daily Devotions* *Author: @s* *Date : Saturday, 15th Feb., 2020* *Topic : Entangle not thyself with ephemeral things* *Text : Matthew 19 : 23* *Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.*
Though he took a good step in coming to the Lord to ascertain how to get into God's Kingdom, he has already tied his life's existence to that which he has been endowed with, which made Jesus to say that it will be a tedious task for such to be in the Kingdom of God.
Brethren, to be rich is not the issue, the deal lies in making riches the centre of one's life. One can be rich in wisdom, knowledge, power, beauty, having a prudent partner/wife, having a caring partner/husband, having lucrative job/position among others, all these are good, but immediately they displace the priority given to God in one's life, then such should be careful.
Papa Job says in Job 31 : 25 - 28 If I rejoiced because my wealth was great, and because mine hand had gotten much; If I beheld the sun when it shined, or the moon walking in brightness; And my *heart hath been secretly enticed,* *or my mouth hath kissed my hand: This also were an iniquity to be punished by the judge: for I should have denied the God that is above. One should be aware of this so that such does not make getting into God's Kingdom a difficult task.
Beloved, are you rich in wisdom, knowledge, talent, skill, wealth, godly partner among others? Yes, these are good because it is a promise being fulfilled as children of Abraham and I pray that we have more riches in all areas in Jesus name, but don't let them take the place of God in our lives, rather use the riches to advance HIS kingdom.
*Deuteronomy 8 : 18 But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.*
Father, enrich me in all areas of my life and don't let it hinder me from seeing YOU in YOUR glory in the Kingdom of God. |

Eviana: Yes, I hope "we" (both you and I), as Christians, can evaluate ourselves honestly and be humble enough to ask the Lord to help us in areas we struggle in and to ask Him to endow us with His Spirit. One trait of "humility" that (I personally am learning about and striving to employ in my life) is to evaluate MYself and using only Christ as the measuring stick...not others. It's extremely easy to look at someone else's life and try to point out flaws...yet not look at one's "own" life right? We, as Christians, need to be extremely careful when judging others. Remember "pride", is what ejected Lucifer from the kingdom..he thought he was more "perfect" than God & Jesus... Hmmmm.... Grace and mercy....grace and mercy...to us all. Praying sincerely for you...as I am myself.
Prayers to the families of Kobe Bryant, his daughter and the other 7 passengers who lost their lives 1 week ago. The bolded...... There is no perfect being on earth even among Christians, we are all working unto perfection. No body should be a judge over his / her fellow brethren, but at times when we see lapsee, we should be able to point it out with love because the scripture says we should be our brother's keeper. Thanks for the prayer . Check your pm. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Why Do People Die Without Saying Goodbye To Their Loved Ones? by Julivas(m): 1:00pm On Jan 31, 2020 |
Eviana: One thing about death is this: it comes to ALL and we can never know the exact day. Death is the most horrible result of sin on this earth. We live in a sin-corrupted world. We have a Father in Heaven who knows exactly what it is like to lose a loved one (John 3:16 KJV). I tell you, the death of a loved one (or significant person in one's life) hurts. It hurts terribly...and the ones affected by it never forget.
We can never know all of the ways of God (Isaiah 55:8 KJV). We can only know that He knows best and is still in control...
I am quite sure that U.S. basketball legend Kobe Bryant, his 13 yr. old daughter, and the other people who lost their precious lives this morning in the tragic helicopter crash, did not know that it would be their last day. I'm quite sure that his surviving wife and children did not know that he and his daughter would die...nor the other late passengers' loved ones. What makes it incredibly painful and shocking for many of us, is the fact that a man of such an iconic status (throughout the world) for several years, is now dead. A man who lived almost a "god-like" status, had enormous amount of wealth, fame and noteriety for the majority of his life, now will be in the grave. It is almost surreal. I do not know his religious preference nor have I ever. He is gone for now and my heart yearns to comfort his widow and three remaining children. She will need the love of Christ like never before, having lost her husband and daughter at one time. Prayers for the other passengers' who died, loved ones as they also will have to begin the grieving process.
So many people experience the same types of tragedies...and do not get to say, "goodbye".
Which is why it is so crucial for people to know about the love of Christ and His redemptive power. His triumph over death and the hope of eternal salvation for those who believe in Him & surrender (Revelation 21:7 KJV).
We may not ever have the opportunity in this life, to say "good-bye" to a significant person due to an unexpected death, BUT we can treat people kindly, and love on them daily. We can live each day as though it's our last. We can give people hope (beyond the grave) by telling them about Jesus the Christ' love for them and power to save them eternally. That bolded got me. You have written well, hope it can be put into practice by all,the world will be better for it. More grace. |

Newbiz: Not sure, but when king David committed adultery and murder, God didn't speak to him but used prophet Nathan to minister to him
2 Samuel 12:7-13: And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul; And I gave thee thy master's house, and thy master's wives into thy bosom, and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that had been too little, I would moreover have given unto thee such and such things. Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon. Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife. Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give them unto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun. For thou didst it secretly: but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun. And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said unto David, The LORD also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die. Nice submission, but in this case, if at all he was sent to them by God, he should have gone to them privately instead of using them to seek popularity. |

Message delivered on the last day of 2019. Enjoy
Topic : The race not for the swift. Text: Ecc. 9 : 11 I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.
This year is coming to an end in less than 4 hours, today's Bible study shall reflect on God's faithfulness over our lives since the beginning of this outgoing year. In our various domains : schools, places of work and others, a lot of happenings have occurred either pleasant or otherwise. The focus of this study is on the unpleasant events that happened to some in this year 2019 because in one way or the other God has been good to us. The question is, are those involved in mishaps the chiefest of sinner? ..or don't they know how to pray? .or. Is it by our righteousness, time spent praying, fasting, our smartness or what have you, that we are being spared? No, not at all. Though it is good to ; spend quality time with the Lord in the place of prayer, fast regularly as a child of God, be holy as our Father is holy, and all the rest, but we are still here on earth because of the Lord's doing. Zechariah 4 : 6 - 9 says *Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts. Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it. Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish it; and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you.* Let insert our name here, it is because of the spirit of God. You and I shall see the end of this year and many more years to come here on earth if Jesus tarries in Jesus name, amen. Brethren, do you know many have done the same thing we did, but they are no more, the same road we traveled by, is the same that has sent many people to the world beyond, the same sickness we treated with just paracetamol was the one that claimed the lives of people. Haven't you heard of a whole family killed after eating a sumptuous meal of amala that died thereafter? I want to believe most of us here do eat amala every now and then., and here we are seeing the last Monday and the penultimate day of the year 2019. One has to praise God for HIS faithfulness indeed. Let somebody shout hallelujah.................... Ohh, you may want to say that 2019 has been a challenging year academically, financially, healthwisely, physically and the rest. Let me remind you that we have been called to be a soldier of the cross, and as a soldier the kingdom of satan will fight such, but we are assured in Psalms 34 : 19 that He will deliver us. *Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.* He has been delivering us, and He shall continue to be faithful to us as we continually look up to him as the author and finisher of our faith in Jesus name. Isaiah 59 : 19 makes us to understand that the enemy will try us, but that we should not be afraid because we have a God that is mighty in battle. * So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him* In conclusion, * King David, in all his craftiness to win wars and battles, he acknowledged HIM that is able to save and deliver. Psalms 124 : 1 - 8, let us read it together
*If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, now may Israel say;* *If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us:* *Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:* *Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul:* *Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.* *Blessed be the LORD, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.* *Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.* *Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.*
Happy new year 2020 |
Christianity Etc › Re: 5 Reasons Not To Believe In God by Julivas(m): 3:45pm On Jan 05, 2020 |
Rapidlove: There are 5 reasons not to believe in God Though some people are blind to the facts and refuse to accept it 1. No evidence Most things which we accept, we accept on the basis of proof. That proof is not always rock solid (some of it is based on spurious media claims, for example) but there is a standard to which we hold most of our beliefs. Things that don’t meet that standard – the Tooth Fairy, let’s say – we discard as not impossible, but extremely unlikely.
God, however, many people accept with no proof at all. Belief in God is a product of upbringing, societal and cultural convention, a desire for comfort and intellectual laziness.
There is no evidence that God exists. You may have had some kind of personal experience – what we “anecdotal evidence” that has convinced you personally that he’s out there. But most people would concede that that kind of evidence is not evidence at all. It can’t be repeated under test conditions and there are other possible explanations for what may have happened.
Fact: no-one has ever presented one iota of persuasive evidence that there is a God.
2.It’s illogical In the absence of evidence, some people try to argue that there “must be” a God because nothing else makes sense.
This “not making sense” ranges from the naïve (“I just feel that there must be a bigger purpose to life”) to the sophisticated arguments presented by theologians, philosophers and apologists.
I cannot present and knock down every instance of these arguments here. However, I can say this: the idea that one can reason God into existence is a failed project. The best anyone has been able to do is to show that God could be an explanation for how the universe got here – and could be the “best available explanation”. I wouldn’t accept either of these, but even I did, they do not constitute a conclusive, logical position.
If you are comfortable with a “maybe”, then you are welcome to it. But the existence of God has not been logically proven by anyone, ever.
3.The preponderance of suffering In a recent interview, the British comedian Stephen Fry delivered a vicious, scathing attack on the Judeo-Christian God when asked what he would say if it turned out, after he died, that God did in fact exist. He called this God a “maniac”, pointing to the large amount of unnecessary suffering in the world which he, by definition, created and allows.
The existence of suffering is an impossible problem for believers in an all-good, caring God to solve. Even if they use the wiggle room to argue that without some suffering there can be no charity; or that people who do wrong are punished, they cannot account for the suffering of innocent children and animals, or worse, the devout believers in their faith.
What kind of God, we may ask – and Fry does, more colourfully – has created a world in which children die in floods, starve to death, perish in agony from TB and malaria? What kind of God allows people who worship and adore him to be murdered, raped, tortured and come to countless other hideous ends?
This does not preclude the existence of any God, of course. God might be, as Fry has it, a maniac. He may be a vicious, sadistic God. Or, like the Greeks and Romans before us, he may be a pantheon of narcissistic Gods who have no interest in looking out for us.
But a God who was benevolent and loving, as we are told the Christian God is, would never create the world we live in. Believing in him requires either shuttering yourself off from the carnage all around you; or crafting frankly ridiculous excuses (God works in mysterious ways?).
4. We don’t need him This isn’t exactly an argument against the truth of God, but it is a reason to stop worrying about him. We don’t require God – he is an unnecessary addition to the universe, and it can get along perfectly well without him.
The most common two arguments for why we “need” God is as a personal saviour or caretaker, and that without him (and religion) we would not know what is morally right and wrong.
Let me start with the last first.
Human morality is not brought into existence by God or the Bible. We do not require a commandment to tell us that killing is wrong, and we do not need the threat of eternal damnation to make us do what is right.
To prove this I need only point out that most Western states operate on the basis of a constitution and the rule of law and have nothing to do with religion or the Bible. Killing someone has legal consequences, and most normal people with a conscience regard it as wrong without the need for a cosmic force to tell them.
Oh, but I hear you say, surely these laws and rights have a Biblical origin?
Do you really believe that? Do you think that pre-religious societies had no taboos in regard to the preservation of life, property and other things we hold dear? That a principle like “do unto others” would not naturally emerge from any group of sentient beings living in the same place?
This is quite apart from the fact that many of the laws in the Bible are just wicked. We have not, thankfully and for the most part, transferred most of Leviticus and Deuteronomy into modern law. Those Islamic states who have, and which enforce Sharia law, are widely regarded as zones of horror by most sensible people.
Then: do we need God as a personal saviour? Well, some people might. The idea of God might provide comfort and an explanation for the mysteries of the universe. However, it is misleading to say he is “needed”. Many people survive and thrive perfectly well without a God concept or religion – myself being one example. We do not rampage or lose our way or become outcasts. And so, whilst certain individuals may derive comfort from a belief in God – as is their right – this is neither a necessary or a sufficient condition for living a good life.
5.Life’s better without him Religion is about control and limitation. Rules, laws and rituals that restrict and govern behaviour. In some cases – say the genital mutilation of infants in barbaric rites of passage practised by religions such as Judiasm – they actually persuade nice people to do awful things.
Which is to say nothing of the countless other horrors committed in the name of God and religion. Suicide bombings, torture, genocide, forced marriages, unwanted babies, war – the list is endless.
A life without religion and without God thus offers freedom from all of these miseries. It offers a person the opportunity to do what they like, in line with their own moral code, within the parameters of the society in which they live. Each decision to be taken is evaluated on its own merits, weighing up the pros and cons, and is not forced down a path by a pre-existing code of conduct dating from a time of ignorance and superstition.
Life is better without God and religion encouraging you to make poor choices, and validating them when you do.
The journey into escaping the God idea, and rejecting religion, can be a long one. For those deeply invested in these notions they may begin by being unable to imagine a meaningful life without them. However, it starts with a seed of doubt. With the sense that a fairy story is at work here – not the solid rock of reality.
Perhaps these five arguments will plant that small seed for some reading this piece That you can sit, think and write this is enough for you to believe in God |

Eviana: I want to thank the Lord for His forgiveness, encouragement, patience, protection, MERCY, GRACE and ever-lasting LOVE towards me... Each of the above has been shown to me very clearly this year. What an extremely challenging year....(too much to say right here)....yet showers of blessings rained on me along the way. He has once again brought me through to the end of another year....and for that I once again say, "Thank you Lord God Almighty." God be praised |

Eviana: This is one of the reasons why I am sincerely obsessed with the Book of Psalms. One can feel King David's plea and distress...his cry to the Lord...and his hope in Him..in times of trouble. Powerful, beautiful, blessed and encouraging scripture passage. King David was an expert in pleading and praising God, that's the reason why God said he is a man after HIS own heart. |
