Graviton2:

It's fine if you don't want to give advice on the issue. Let others do so.

You She has to go to the old school, pay her tuition at least for this fall, then transfer her credits and SEVIS info to the new school by Spring. This is the only way out if the old school has unleashed immigration threats.

rosybabyy: @ stewee and others thanks for your different responses. I can get an introduction letter from my coy to the embassy and my leave certificate but is it necessary to let the comp know what I am using my leave for since I am sponsoring myself?

Yes it is necessary but not compulsory that they know you are leaving the shores of your country. The main point in the letter should be that your job still awaits you if you return to Nigeria after your leave. It is not compulsory they indicate that you will be promoted. You should be able to orally explain to the VO what the additional certificate will do for you professionally in the nearest future.

rosybabyy: @juntod my leave is six weeks and d course is five weeks

Its a short program. You are very free to sponsor yourself. Fear not. Just be confident and don't sound like USA means anything to you. Hammer more on what the program will do for you at your work place once your return.

How long is your annual leave and how long is the training?

Joenice: Hahaha, man, these guys are well-trained. They are much more smarter than you. They've been into this job for a while. She's engaged, right? There are lots of questions any VO would ask so as to know if she's truly engaged and I don't want to ask now. These questions can throw her off balance. Read my modified comment.

Smarter than me? What is your basis of judgement? Your self esteem must really be very low. Work on it please. You sound as if they can tell what you ate for breakfast by merely looking at your face. You already see them as mini gods. That aint right bro. They are humans trained by humans.

Joenice: How old is she? Really, if the VO focuses on that and she's not engaged. She's in trouble! It might spell doom to her application. But if she can defend it properly, i don't think she will have problems whatsoever. @rosybabyy, please be careful.

Personally, I think you advice is uncalled for. You are only making her scared unnecessarily. How will be VO know she is not engaged? Apart from wearing a ring, is there now an official paper work to prove engagement? If they don't doubt men, why will they doubt a working class lady who has a ring to show?

rosybabyy: @idazbawz and others pls, why would the consulars frown at it? I am working in a reputable company, well paid and I don't inyend running away

You have nothing to worry about. If you don't mind, put on an engagement ring and let the VO know you will get married soon. This leave is a perfect time to get the training done cos after marriage, your schedule will be very tight (Just be smiling while saying this). You will get your visa. Nor fear.

rosybabyy: I would like to know the likelyhood of being granted a usa visa. I am a single lady working in an airline. This is my first time of applying for a visa. I planned to travel for course in flight dispatch around November this year. I am sponsoring myself. its a six weeks course and intend to use my annual leave for the course the total expenses is about N1500,000 and I have a fixed deposit of N2,500,00. Would I be needing any letter from my employer if yes which documents exactly? Please fast response would be appreciated.

Make sure you have proof of the annual leave. Your fixed deposit account is okay. But back it up with your pay stubs/slips as well as a 6 months statement of account showing your in/out flow of cash.

stevecrun: A friend of mine tell me say texas POE no get problem compared to NY..

But i think the best would be carrying the schools fees in cash,if possible in 1000 dollar bills,is just that they are not common.Fold them inside the jean pockets and place them inside the box. Then when one arrives in the states, open an american bnk account and lodge em.

Sorry, for the customs tossing your foodstuffs into the trash, esp.the gala..

The best option is to leave all your money in your Nigeria account with a naira master card (GTB is very okay). Amerians don't travel with cash. When asked about your fees, tell them you have your bank card with you. Its acceptable everywhere.

Avoid the risk of losing all your tuition in a day. Burglars are everywhere.

Joenice: try as much as u can to comprehend my message. i did not say cali state university is not a good school.

Again, there is nothing to comprehend. If anybody was denied, it wasn't because of that particular school. You should have been more general in your post. Why not put it this way? "If you are going to the consulate with I-20 from a very good school, make sure you have your transcripts and make sure your results are solid enough", instead of quoting 'CSU only' as if its a red flag.

joenice .............. mind giving more insights on this matter

There is nothing to give insights about. A reputable school like California State University can never be a red flag.

you can print ur e-ticket,choose seats and check in(if applicable)

Idazbawz: really?? Is business acct not d same as company's account?? Its against SEVIS rule

Really? I haven't come across that. I used it and it was accepted.

Mind you, the acceptable account type varies with different schools. The consulate has no hand in it. Anything that proves your source of funding is what they accept. Some schools may have their restrictions. I asked my school first before sending it. They also accept fixed deposit certificates.

"3 criteria for choosing cua - 1 was religion 2 was location and 3 was academic .

You have added location as a reason again. That is very misleading. Many people have been denied on that basis. On the day of my interview, the VO asked a lady this question " So, if this particular school wasn't in Houston, are you saying you wouldn't have chosen it?"

We don't advise people here based on our personal experience only. What worked for you may not work for others.

This is the last response you will get from me about this.

You did not just say that , did u ! i never said religion should be her main reason but, it should be amongst the reason's cos it's obvious not so, and like the other poster said, acceptance rate to christian schools is way to high, don't know about that.

As for the Bolded above, you clearly stated that she should start by quoting the obvious. Isn't that the same as main reason? See your quote below.

LoveDecay:
a little search revealed faulkner is a christian school, why dont u start by stating the obvious cos thats whats on the v.o mind christians frm christian backgrounds going to christians schools cos thier christians - so u start , am i christian and i want to go to faulkner cos i feel more comfortable and will adapt faster amongst christian..

As per the one below, why can't atheists conduct interviews if christians/muslims are allowed to interview atheists? nobody gives a f.uck about your religion when it comes to job offer. It is even a crime to ask an applicant his/her religion or race. When writing an American resume (CV), you do not put religion. Check any application form in America if you will find religion.

LoveDecay:
About the atheist thing, the logic is flawed - wont make sense to send an atheist to interview people who are 99% christain/muslim , and going by your argument - which states if he was an atheist (meaning he would not be comfortable with giving a devout christian/muslim a visa).

As for the below, I never said anything about acceptance rate. Quote the other poster not me.

LoveDecay:
and like the other poster said, acceptance rate to christian schools is way to high, don't know about that. All the universities i see here have pretty high acceptance rates - have not heard of any, MSU, GeorgeWash, or UCLA's - eastern michigan - a public school which keeps popping up has an Bottom whopping 70% acceptance rates and over 70K student, and students still get visa's approved - so acceptance rates is not a factor - it's PROGRAM FIT . shocked

Note: The fact that you had a patient VO doesn't mean others will be so lucky. The first point should be academic reasons and if the VO doesn't cut you short by then, you can give other reasons.

Thanks for the responses to my one way ticket inquiry.

As for ID to pick up visa, it is a requirement. Although they didn't ask me for any ID, they asked some other peeps. If they have doubts, they must ask for one.
