zeezahbee: before the end of his story he said people thought he wont get it

Honestly, that is the part that called my attention. How do you lash at someone with your success story? He sounded like he's been jealous of his friend's success and wanted his own success in order to meet up as if it was all about competition. I smell a dangerous friendship falling for the benefit of both parties. Na dem sabi. CASE CLOSED

I'll buy you biscuits later. Maturity is the ability to move on regardless of whatever grudge you might have. — that's the reason I said whatever is up with both of them is nobody's business, especially not mine.

Exactly. We can only be neutral and not be one sided by giving 100% support to Teddy like Amerinancy. I don't know either of them. What sup b/w both of them is none of my business. But how they go about it on this thread is what concerns me.

stevecrun: NO SENTIMENTS HERE..LEAVE YOUR PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH IDAZBAWZ AND SEE THE TRUTH STARING YOU RIGHT IN YOUR FACE.

So, Zee knows Idaz somewhere else apart from NL? What personal relationship are you talking about? What truth is staring? Have you heard from Idaz? How did you confirm your truth about the reasons Idaz wasn't keen about the friendship anymore? We can only be neutral and tell them what is right. Its petty and childish to rub your success on the face of someone else. Shikena

Callmebabe: Madam abeg, if you cannot do something, dont discourage others that are willing to do it. There are thousands of people here, you not the only one.

Nobody is willing. She is very correct. We can only give you the search tools to find schools. This is for your own good. It helps build confidence while in front of a VO.

Amerinancy: I still wonder how you guys understand something. I have called him on phone and he has told me everything. He might not be everything, but teddy is a rare person. I admire his humility and meekness. His anger is, since idazbawz couldn't even call him to congratulate him, which he did during idaz's own time. He never replied his messages or even pick his calls. Why would he now quote him to help someone when he is not a good example? Please let's learn to remove the flea in our eye before removing the mote from our brothers eye.
How can he settle it amicably with someone who won't pick his calls, reply his messages and snub him. He came out real and straight and I love the part where he said he still bears no grudges. Its better to say it out than pretending while he has something against him.
You said he used his visa to brag or some ish? No! He is only trying to say that without human we can still succeed. Its God that makes. He poured out his heart and that's it. That guy is worth being anyones friend, but as the saying goes, "good people die quick" its what's coming to ply here.
If you guys like judge him, I give him my 100 percent support. I will always stand by him because he did for me, during my own time.
I nancy stand with him against all odds.

I am not supporting either of them. You shouldn't give 100% support to one person simply because you have personal rapport with him, met him in person and have held hands to pray together. I do not dispute the fact that he may be a nice person. Have you bothered to hear Idaz side of it? Do you know if he also habours his own grievances? The fact that you talked to Teddy on phone and you believe his story 100% does not mean we should crucify Idaz before hearing his own side. We can only be neutral here until we hear from Idaz.

Wait a minute! Idazbawz who are you to judge me? You were the same person I left my house to come to your residence. We practiced together, I encouraged you and we prayed together at your bus stop concerning your interview before I left.
You were denied. I was the first to call you and ask how it went. I felt real bad when I heard the ill fated news about your denial. I encouraged you and told you it was not the end of the world. I went on the 14th of April and was denied too. I was heartbroken. God later did it for you. You went and conquered. I was so happy I even used it to compose a poem. Later I called you and inquired of Troy university, you told me I would need about 11k to send documents. I told you I didn't have such money. You said "well that's the way forward" later I did it myself and the only money I spent was for my WAEC scratch card. Later I was having some issues and would ping you on BBM to ask questions at times, you would answer or choose to answer after days. Like a candle stick you went off! You stopped replying me. I would send you multiple bulk messages yet you won't reply. You never called again up till today. You never asked of me even here on nairaland.
You felt you now had your visa so I was inferior to you. You thought America was only reserved for you. But you thought falsely, God has done it for me. I will keep being the loving, caring and comic teddy I used to be.

Great writing story telling skills. Well, if this really happened, it wasn't nice but I hope he has a tangible excuse. But why tell the world when you could have ironed it out with him privately? Anyway, try and settle with your guy instead of paying him back with your visa approval. You are guilty of the same offence you accused him of.

If he looks and acts the part,he might get away with it even without the VO asking for those documents.
I'm just too certain the VO will be interested about his Wife and Kid.

Best wishes!

So true. But they will definitely want proof that wife and kids gonna survive here without daddy. He can just simply say she runs her own boutique business or something which yields sufficient income to take care of herself and kids. They will be less interested in proof for such business that solely belongs to wifey. My own thought though.

castrotroy80: Hello house, i have been following this thread for a while and wanna say u guys have been very wonderful. I will like the house to look thru this pre interview transcript for me and correct me wherever needs to be corrected. My interview is nextmonth.

Vo: How will studying this program be useful to you?
Vo: How does this program advance your career?
Vo: What are your plans after grad?
Vo: How will studying this ptogram be useful for you at home?

These questions are all the same and therefore, require the same response. I don't know where you got your different responses from. Make up your mind on one answer and we will work with that.

castrotroy80:
Vo: How do u plan to take care of ur wife and kid while studyin in US?
Me: There is an agricultural business which i inherited from my late father, it is been runned by me and my wife. In this business we make not less than 550k per month depending on the sales and season, this business will be left in the care of my wife so she could use part of the income to take care of herself and the kids

I hope you have a certificate from CAC to back up this business and also an annual tax returns certificate from IRS that declares your 550K per month. If not, na story oh. Them nor go believe you lie lie.

Ah, you are on track. You have no gap to fill at all. You can do without the work experience. Letting them know about your NYSC program which will not be concluded until after your resumption date is risky. The one year gap between your graduation and now can be easily explained. You've been researching on good schools in the US and also preparing for the standardized tests.

But you may also want to put a voluntary job there if you have any means to back it up.

chimdilawson: plz house I really do need ur advice and suggestions on this. I already scheduled an interview for September 15th, but I'm yet to submit my DS-160 form. and the reasons are as follows;
I dont know if I should fill that I am employed or not, the decision will be reached subject to your opinions. I am still on NYSC, I am actually not employed yet, so I dont know if my unemployment state will raise a red flag as I am considering filling that I am unemployed. on a second thought I was considering using NYSC as what I am doing currently, but the NYSC will terminate by October 16, my classes its supposed to start by October 13th, and I am making travel plan in respect to October 5th so as to meet up with the class on Oct. 13th. Now if I am to use NYSC, would it not raise a red flag considering the fact that I dont have a discharge letter yet to show for that and the date of the start of my classes happens to be before passing out of NYSC. The possible way to explain that to the VO would be if I have an approved letter from DG of NYSC stating that I am permitted to go, and the possibility of getting such approval letter is tiny considering the fact that it's not on health ground, besides I dont think there's enough time to wait for such approval letter if I should apply, so I was thinking of taking the NYSC thing out of the scene, and if I should take it out it means I am unemployed and doing nothing currently. So guys I really do need your advice and opinions on what to do about that. Which do u suggest I go with? unemployed or currently on NYSC? and plz do give me suggestions on how to maneuver either options. any advice and opinions are welcomed.
Thanks.

When exactly did you graduate? With this information I can advise you whether to do without the NYSC or not.
Travel / Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part5 by juntod: 5:03pm On Jul 22, 2014
Slimmy, there was absolutely no valid reason for your denial. It was just personal on the part of the VO. But take this big smile grin. No need to frown. You've paid your dues. You do not need any additional preparation. Hit the embassy on the nearest available date. If the new VO mentions your previous interview, tell him/her the reason for denial straight away and hammer on the fact that you have done your NYSC and you have the cert as a back up to prove your degree. You will get it for sure bro. Best of luck.

Welcome. You do not need any agent to get a study visa. They have absolutely nothing to offer you. Study visa requires no invitation letters or any other documents you can't get yourself. All you need is the valid admission and I-20 from your school, affidavit of support if you are not sponsoring yourself, account statement and proper preparation for the visa.

stevecrun: sometimes, people who write very good English can't speak fluently.
That visa officer was too harsh on the guy.

TOEFL has all the components to test your English proficiency. From that transcript, its obvious his individual score in speaking was very high. That must be the reason why the VO suspected the score. The decision wasn't harsh but professional. That goes to show that VOs have the final say. If visa can be denied based on HIGH SCORE, what stops them from denying based on LOW SCORE?

oyero1: funding is not based solely on GRE score...good SOP,LORs. n a very good undergrad CGPA go a long way to fetch u funding,+divine grace if all d all former have been fulfilled. I'm not an advocate of a low GRE score my brother,I just saying gettn a low score doesn't mean all hopes have been lost... One love n enjoy!

Now I am beginning to get confused with your posts. Who told you all hopes have been lost before? You said VOs don't have the right to deny visa based on GRE score. Thats the argument. You are deviating. They have 100% right. I don't argue without facts. There is even a case of someone denied visa based on TOEFL score being TOO HIGH. His command of the English language before the VO was very poor yet he scored 102 in Toefl. He was denied and even almost got banned. Click the link below for proof.

oyero1: bro Juntod,VOs dnt av d right to deny on d level of low GRE score, even if u r a 1st class student, if admission has been given wit d score...d only problem ds bro has is d switch of major which might lead to a conditional admission n dt is wht a vo wud nt want to see....FYI. sm students get funding wch such scores...I rest my case.

I have first hand information of someone denied based on low GRE score. They will simply tell you "at this time you do not qualify". I never said he will be automatically denied because of it. By the way, you can't get funding with 270. If anyone gets funding with that score, its not because of the score but because the school is not so good and they are in desperate need of student population. You can click the link below for more info about how low GRE score affects visa decision and how to tackle the situation.

Hey, when we say red flag it doesn't mean their computer automatically goes red when they see your school. As far as a school issues I-20, you can get a visa with it. But chances are lower for community colleges. It all depends on your response, composure and confidence. But you may be unlucky to meet a VO who knows in and out about your particular choice of school. That is where the red flag becomes a threat.

zeezahbee: let him present it and add the work experience isssh as a backing. why will you lie you didnt do a test that you did. no lies

When we say don't lie, its not for this type of scenario. VOs don't just want to know if you sat for the exam. They also use it to measure your academic strength and chances of making it through the US grad school. Visit any India forum and you will find so many experienced I.T students denied visa simply because of low GRE.

Here's a link to the percentiles for the new GRE for anyone interested. It changes every couple for months though.

Hmmm, judging by this link, you can see that 270 (135 on both sections) is just 2 percentile.

Thanks. I wasn't really talking about percentile. Just used the 5/40 to make you understand how bad the score really is. By the way, 270 is in no way near 79th percentile.
