Mystiqme: I am confused. Just know that 130 is the zero point. If you score 130 over 170 it means you scored zero. Hence, 170 will be 40 (170 minus 130). So, 135 is just 5 out of possible 40. Thats where my 5 over 40 is coming from. |

oghenegano: I have read about the GIS. You are on track. If asked why you changed course just smile and tell the VO that you didn't change course per say. Your major in computer sci will be GIS which relates to your undergraduate as well as your present work. Also use the work experience in GIS as the reason why you were exempted from GRE. You are good to go. Best of luck 1 Like |

Mystiqme: You clearly do not understand GRE scores. FYI, Thats not how GRE percentile works. The minimum on each GRE section is 130/170 which could mean 0/40. Assuming for his 270 he got 135 on each section, 135/170 means he got 5/40. 5/40 plus another 5/40 on the other section is 10/80. Note: 320/340 on GRE is 83 percentile. Its not the same as the percentage you are calculating. 3 Likes |

babyoriss: [b]Hello house, 1. Everything looks good but leave your younger ones out of this. I personally think that line is not necessary. 2. Starting up a business should not be your major reason for taking this degree. Be more professional about it. You can talk about returning to work in a business management/marketing firm or even setting up your own. |

oghenegano: Please do not present that GRE score. If your school didn't require GRE, simply tell the VO that you were exempted because of your work experience. You can even try to get a written statement from your school to that effect. |

phemix: And you expect me to encourage and counsel him without pointing out the flaws in his profile? Why is he here? The fact that he has fears does not mean we should tell him to go to the embassy unprepared. All I have done so far is point out the areas he needs to work on. I am not telling him USA is not for him. FYI, a GRE score of 270 is just 10/80. So you think telling him to present this score is the best advice simply because he has fears. He is not paying me for the counselling and I am not forcing him to take my advice either (Just my 5 Kobo). 1 Like |

oghenegano: Am a 2.1 graduate and am presently workin as a survey...moreso am takin a major in GIS. Hmmm. Does GIS have anything to do with computer information Science? If No, I think its a red flag for someone with undergrad degree in Geology and work experience in Survey to be going for masters in Computer Science. That aside, no need to go to the embassy with that GRE result. It doesn't tell well of a 2.1 graduate. Its either you seat for the exam again or find an excuse why you were exempted. |

oghenegano: Hello nairalander....my GRE score is 270 and i was offerred admission study Computer Information Science at masters level buh i have a good bsc in Geology...buh am scared if d VO will make a comment on dat....can someone advice me pls Before you worry about GRE, do you have a good reason for switching from Geology to Comp Sci? That should be your major concern now as VOs must ask about it. Again, how did you get admission for masters into a course unrelated to your undergraduate course and with a low GRE? What exactly did the school see in your profile if its not a red flag school? No need to hide any information from us if you actually need help. Let us know your full profile so that you can be properly guided. |

obongtunji: I watched a man at Shiloh testified of how his damaged kidney was replaced with a new well functioning kidney. Another lady that has been on wheelchair for six years miraculously got off the wheelchair and started walking and running all over the auditorium. What I'm saying here is that there is nothing too difficult for GOD to do. GOD is able to heal him, I have a strong believe his manhood will be functional again Forget those fictions you see on TV. They are planned work. Have you ever seen anybody you know that benefited from those miracles? |

ULSHERLAN: The guy tried for your cousin if not her life may have been miserable without him but still sexual satisfaction is part of the gains in a healthy relationship talkless marriage. Maybe they should go to other places for consultation. Marriage is a life time commitment and whatever decision she makes now maybe the one she will have to live with Honestly, does the sacrifice of seeing a girl through undergraduate measure up in anyway to the sacrifice of living the rest of your life without s.ex or even children of your own? |

prologue: without or "temporarily out of service". What about if u were not able to conceive would he had thought of same about you? When a man spends his resources, which is a part of his life, fixing a gal, esp those from this part of the world, he is surely fetching water with a basket, in a snake infested pond. Not only will he not get water, but might not survive d bite. I think that one is quite different. At least a woman who cannot conceive can still bleep. This one own na double wahala. 2 Likes |

Hi Nlanders, I really don't know if I am posting this in the right section. I need help for a female cousin of mine (she is more like a best friend to me as she finds it easy to confide in me). She has been in this relationship with her boyfriend for 6 years now. They are both in love and head over heels for each other. The guy was fully responsible for financing her undergraduate as her parents are not all that well to do. She is presently serving the nation (NYSC) and will be done later this year. They got engaged December last year and are supposed to be getting married November this year (After her service year). Tragedy struck by January this year when the guy was on a road trip to PortHarcourt. He got involved in a terrible auto crash and was hospitalized for months. All we knew then was that the accident affected his waist line and he was responding to treatment. He got discharged from the hospital over 2 months ago and we were all happy he is fine again. But early this month, I noticed that my cousin has changed, always moody and depressed. She even lost visible weight drastically. One day I caught her crying secretly in her room and she couldn't help but burst out in more tears in my arms. To cut it short, she confided in me that her fiancé is impotent from all indications. They've tried pre-intimacy several times since last 2 months and the guy's joystick doesn't even lift a muscle (e nor dey rise again). She is really confused. She still loves him but afraid the situation will remain like that forever. The doctors are not even helping matters as they are only speculating that it may come up later. She has barely 3 months to make wedding preparations. She really doesn't want to make a mistake she will regret for the rest of her life. I am also confused and do not know what to tell her cos the guy is a close friend of the family due to their relationship. We already see them as man and wife. She really needs advice on what to do. Ladies: Please for the sake of advice, put yourself in the girl's shoes and tell me what your decision will be (Dump him or marry him no matter the situation) Gentlemen: Please for the sake of advice, put yourself in the man's shoes and tell me what your reaction will be if she doesn't go ahead with the wedding plans. |

sweetchoicemk: Sweetchoice; Although this is not the thread for you. Be prepared for questions on her health condition and why she can't take the treatment here. Also show proof that you can fund the treatment over there. Consider home ties as well since you have to prove that you will both return after the treatment. 1 Like |

Mjseun: Please can I take my bag along with me to the embassy? Is there any service by some people that can help to keepit till one is out of the consulate and they get paid? Planning to check out of the hotel when I'm set for interview and I don't want to go back to the hotel to pick my bag. If you are for 6:30 am, you can make it back to your hotel before 12 if that is your fear. 1 Like |

MsNas: Exactly. They take a comprehensive exam. In some schools, the exam could be oral just like oral defence of thesis. |

MsNas: MEng is more professional and its usually course based. No intensive research. They don't do thesis. |

domex007: I doubt if you can arrive US and defer admission. I guess your school will be alerted as soon as you are cleared at POE. |
Travel / Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part5 by juntod: 9:44pm On Jul 19, 2014 |
domex007: If you defer, your school must prepare another I-20 bearing the new resumption date. Arriving in the US before 30 days to that new resumption date is illegal and will definitely put you in trouble. The best bet is to defer and remain in Nigeria until you get the new updated I-20 from the old school as well as admission confirmation from the new school. |
