When you get to Accra you will here the bus conductors saying Accra Accra. That's because Accra central is refered to as Accra.
Accra City is bigger. It includes all the towns/suburbs you mentioned and more.
Greater Accra includes Tema City Kasoa(a town in the Central region) Madina Ashiaman Weija etc..
But Greater Accra Region is equivalent to A Federal State in Nigeria A county in Kenya and A Province in South Africa.
You can't say Nairobi county is same as Nairobi city.
Same way you can't say Cross river State is the same as Calabar city
cross River State and Nairobi County do not have the same dynamics with Greater Accra..
Greater Accra dynamics is like that of New York
Queens, Manhattan, Bronx, Brooklyn and etc all used to be sperate cities all by themselves but after Manhattan grew and it development spread into all these areas, they have become one mega metro area
vankelvin: Since you are an asylum seeker I don't expect you to understand this kind of issues.
@Just30 said Greater Accra Region is the same as Accra City... They are not so use this opportunity to learn about Ghana.
Towns like Ningo Prampram Ada Foah Big Ada Ada Kasseh Sege Saglemi Dawa Dodowa Dorwenya etc and all the other villages have no boundary issues. Secondly they are not part of the Accra city.
Would you say Awka, Onitsha and all the other towns and villages in Anambra State are not Awka city? Use your brain
You're are not understanding what we are saying..
No one is disputing what you are saying..
What we are saying is, Accra has developed so fast and wide such that all those towns have become one with the city.
The entire Greater Accra region is one big real estate of luxury properties.
It is like how Manhattan, Queens and Bronx in New York have become one
are you smart at all? how old are you? did you drop out of primary school?
there is nothing like "tribe" tribes are ape groups
Hausa has subgroups same as Germany France,Japan, Korea
I don't know Hausa well I am Yoruba. Yoruba has about 20 groups all the way from Togo to Nigeria. all with a total population of about 45 million if you call those sub groups tribes then you need a check up
you're living with a colonial mindset Hausa and Yoruba are both ethnic groups and languages with subgroups and languages
Then you weren't educated well if you think tribe means ape group.
Hausa has never been an Ethnic group.. it is a language that that has been in existence and spoken by different ethnic groups and tribes in addition to their own language for generations... From Ghana, Ivory Coast, Mali, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Sudan , Chad, Niger and several other desert nations..
Saying Hausa is an ethnic group is like saying Arabic is an ethnic group. And that will be absurd
theTranslator: you're just joking I won't argue with you on Ghana
Hausa is an ethnic group I don't know why you guys call ethnic groups "tribes" the Hausa group is a super group as large as 55 million stop talking rubbish about what you know nothing about
Because it is several tribes that come together to form an ethnic group base on their similarities in culture...
Sometimes their language can even be different...
Hausa is a language and not an ethnic group and it is spoken by people of various ethnic groups and tribes.
or what did you smoke? almost all African countries boundaries were drawn by Europeans thats why a group like Hausa is divided into three or four countries
Ghana was created by the Asantes and fantes signing a peace accord to end their several years of conflicts.. And later on, the northern tribes joined base on their several years of good relation with the Asantes. And then, the plebiscite that added the Volta lands ..
The boundaries were not drawn by Europeans but rather the tribal boundaries that had already be drawn up based on conquest...
Hausa is not divided into 2 or 3 countries .... Hausa is a language and not a tribe ... Find the actual tribe and you will know their boundaries..
Don't ever repeat that nonsense that Europeans drew up African boundaries.... It is a propaganda that is spoken by Europeans and not facts..
vankelvin: No No Accra city means a different thing. There's another thing too
Greater Accra is used to refer to Accra Tema Kasoa Weija Madina Ashiaman etc
Greater Kumasi also includes Kumasi Ejisu Kenyase Esereso Feyiase etc
But the moment you add Region it means different thing all together and that's what I want you to understand.
we are not talking about what it means .... We are talking about the boundaries that used to separate satellite towns no longer existing as the city and it towns have expanded to become one big Region
theTranslator: if an ewe and Akan can live in harmony in European created "Ghana" I see no reason why the whole continent can't
Africa must first be tribalist and then pan African
then Africa will rise
Europeans did not create Ghana...
It's not going to work .... Each country need to build itself out of the mess they are in first and become serious about their development.. Else we will have lazy countries being heavy rocks on the neck of serious countries
Gichwawa254: son no real pan African like me cares about European created boundaries in Africa am usually at home in any African country focus it's just fun like if asked you sure youre from ghana (which youre viciously defending here) n not togo or ivory coast how will you proof that except from ur I'd n passport charlie
It is easy to identify a Nigerian from a Ghanaian, a Ghanaian from a Togolese or Ivorian or Liberian.. Pan Africanism is nonsense
SUFFERInSMILIIN: Let me inform you all over the world prices are going up when you take Coco watching everything is going up even gas in Europe has doubled in price. Covid-19 has brought disaster two prices
prices in Accra have not gone up for as long as I can remember even during COVID except fuel ...
The pricing we are talking about is the fact that, for more than 13 years Accra has been more expensive than New York..
SUFFERInSMILIIN: Actually is very difficult to know the boundary between Accra and greater Accra. Like if you take some areas like achimota ,male 7, Saint John's all of these areas are now under Accra but long ago they were part of Greater Accra. The city has expanded and evolved All The Small towns around greater Accra area. In fact here is the next problem Accra and tema are going to be joined together very soon you will not be able to tell the boundary. I noticed this about two years ago when I visited Ghana
Thanks for putting the words I was trying to put together for Van
Abohboy: No you don't have tall buildings in Accra, there's literally no skyline at all the tallest building in Accra is probably the Kente towers and they're no more then 21 flrs
Mkenya2019: Check for hyperInflation countries - you wont miss Uganda (before Museveni fixed it), Ghana (still an issue), Zambia, Angola, Zimbwabe - all those kwachas still a mess.
vankelvin: The guy is lying through his teeths, Wode Maya never in any of his videos said those nonsense he wrote up there.. You know how Kenyans are, they lie to feel good.
Thats why he didn't deserve a reply ..
They will say anything to make them feel good about their depressing country..
popizaino: The emboldened is one of the reason why I know you've done your research well on Ghana and I always agree to your post, cus it's actually the reality on ground and it's what I have experienced on a personal level. The hyperinflation is bad especially when compare her to next door neighbour Cote d'ivoire. Till covid-19 happened, you get the prices of most commodities in 2019 as what you got them in 2009 in ivory coast.
there's nothing like Hyperinflation with the Cedi ...
What we are talking about is solely based on racketeering by traders.. It cuts across rent, transport, and pricing of commodities and services....
Do you even know how many times my rent has changed in Abidjan? Mention one thing who's price has remained the same since 2009.
The reasons why the cities on the list I posted are on that list is mostly behavioral, with the exception of Iran and Syria which are situational...
In Accra, prices of everything in the city is tied to the pricing of petroleum products. When fuel prices goes up, the price of everything goes up.. The problem is, no one makes sure they come back down when fuel prices reduce, except for cost of transportation...
All the Chinese cities on the list are there because the prices of everything is tied to real estate speculation..
popizaino: Accra is the most expensive city in sub-Saharan Africa country as confirmed by a friend who was here in August and has visited every African country except the north African countries,Senegal and Mozambique. One very cook example of how you know the country is expensive is on the issue of cooking gas,12kg of cooking gas in Abidjan is like 52ghc and the same kg goes for more than 100ghc in Ghana. The problem of prices sterm from Culture and lack of government policy on price control. The culture in the sense that an average Ghanaian doesn't want to bargain so as not to come off as been cheap or poor,so he/she rather get the product at the first asking price.
I think the general greedy nature of an average Ghanaian traders also contributes to why the city is so expensive. I have an in law who import lady shoes and bags from Turkey and china and she supplies retailers around UTC and kingsway, and to my greatest surprise she told she makes like 5ghc on each shoe she supplies to her customers and they in turn make about 50ghc or more on each shoes.
.
govt have no business controlling price
Anyway, food is very expressive in Abidjan... Just that when you're paying for it, you don't feel it in your pocket.
Torture2020: Choices don’t exist when everyone is caught in the frenzy of increasing prices.
They see it as smart way to get ahead, but everyone suffers in the end. Trust me, this is a very dangerous trend. Ghana is the only country I know where people increases just because they feel like it. What choice do you have if you need the item or service? The govt should begin to orientate the people or we may end up like our unfortunate neighbors to the east
SUFFERInSMILIIN: Just 30 you have to come down with the high prices of things, it is really unfortunate the Ghanaian cedi is strengthening versus the US dollar but prices of basic commodities is still going up.
One of the biggest push for price increases is the debit on most countries. Look at Nigeria when you spend 100 naira at least 80 Naira goes to servicing debt.
Gichwawa254: that nigga is mad think we don't know what's up in Ghana, better listen to Mr ghanababy Wode Maya (village boy) who knows his stuff,he has been around Ghana n been more than ten times in Kenya n includes last week who has said more than enough times Kenya is better n more developed than Ghana in his clips ,his words be like Ghana is only better than Kenya at only food cuisine (jollof nana rice n okra n some soup guessed called egusi or something).
Lunatic
Your country men are struggling to point to even one area where Kenya meet up to Ghana in development.
To reach Ghana's level of development, your country need to invest more in it people.
Torture2020: I think this is the biggest challenge we face today in Ghana. People just wake up and quote crazy prices. The authorities need to wake up! People are “forced” to pay for them not because they have too much money, in my opinion.
Even products manufactured in Accra are expensive in Accra than it is in Kumasi.. No wonder some traders from Accra buy their goods from Kumasi( goods that were either manufactured or imported from Accra/Tema)
the most insane part is fish being more expensive in Accra and Takoradi than Kumasi..
But this understood by the fact that about 70% of fish from the coast ends up in KUmasi

popizaino: Investment or no investment the city is already a beautiful one and that's why it is called petit Paris. I'm glad you will be visiting there soon, just make sure you don't limit yourself to tourist areas like plateau and cocody, move around the city proper to places like Youpougon, Rivera, Abatta down to Bingerville, you will notice a pattern that will make you write petition to the government of Ghana to take containers and kiosks off the major streets and highways
petit Paris is from The 80s ... It doesn't hold now because it has fallen behind..
I frequently visit there ... There are too many people moving from cocody and plataue to Accra..
I will prefer having container and kiosk at the places they are over a nasty poverty situation
