It's because of the mindset of trades in Accra.. They are profit conscious.. They are only concerned about making huge profit margin.

How come things are cheap in Kumasi, Techiman and Tamale but rather expensive in Accra even though most of the imported goods come through Tema-Accra before reaching the rest of the country.

Even products manufactured in Accra are cheaper in Kumasi than Accra.. Sea Fish is expensive in Accra than Kumasi meanwhile tgere no sea in Kumasi, I mean how? undecided

Infact it's not Accra only. Things are very expensive in the entire Greater Accra Region than any other region.
When I say Accra I'm referring to the entire Greater Accra because there is no difference between the two.

People are so profit minded in Accra aND it is wild ....
Bright Simons was just comparing the price of tomatoes in Accra and New York as well as farm gate prices and boy, market women are rich in Ghana..

It is just too much

Yeah.......i'm aware they are trying to expand pokuase Amansaman road down to nsawam but I don't know when they will start. I think they should also include connecting Accra and Kumasi with dua carriage all through.its long overdue for ghana to have her two biggest cities connecting each other with an auto route. I haven't been on the sakumono Beach Road before but pls they should be snappy on the Spintex Road,I wonder how residents of regimanuel estates are able to cope with that dust from the road construction going on there and do you know anything about the overhead bridge on the spintex ?
They are already working on the remaining 30km or 60km of the Accra Kumasi highway that is not yet dual carriage.

Cars don't use that part of the Spintex road so it is not dusty

Picture is from Regimanuel estate...

The overhead bridge at Spintex is 50% complete

ACCRA (Reuters) - Ghana’s economy is projected to grow by around 5% in 2021, while inflation is expected to return to its targeted band of 8% plus or minus 2 percentage points, the West African nation’s parliamentary affairs minister said on Friday as he presented the budget.

Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu told parliament that the 2021 budget sees expenditures at 113.75 billion cedis ($19.9 billion) up 13.7% compared with the previous years as the West African nation introduces measures to recover from the coronavirus pandemic.

well idont need to wail that ours is over 30billion $ bro..money govt can spend...
did you see the part were I said govt has supplementary budgets as well as spending from sovereign wealth funds? grin grin

Almost all Capital expenditure in Ghana does not come from our budget but from our sovereign wealth funds

Those are factual figures from your birth and death records and your immigration stats.

Even before Ghana conducted it 2020 census, the population was already known...Just based on those 3 stats.

Which economic figures to be precise.?..
In the last 10 yrs Kenya have moved from 40billion dollars to 98.9billion in 2020...that's more than double .
In the next 10 yrs our economy will double again to almost 200 billion dollars.
Your rebasing figures .... To move from 40 to 98, your poor people should not remain as high as it is currently.... Also, unemployment should not be as high as it is currently in your country.. and this is the reason why WB and IMF called your rebased figures fraudulent..

It's fine, bro..between me and the beans you're frying, Kenya's population will remain at 47 million, according to the most recent census. You can wish all you want, but nothing will change... However, the projection now stands at 50 million. The World Bank does not contact the Census , bro...
I guess Kenyans stopped giving birth grin grin

The world Bank does not necessarily have to especially when it know your number of births and deaths, your migration and emigration figures from the UN.

And that is why both agencies called your govt census fraudulent.

it's a fact that your country population is approaching 58 million in 2021 ... The world Bank is even conservative by quoting it at 55 million.

Between your fraudulent govt and the WB or UN, who will you choose?
Your govt even went ahead to massage census figures because it will make Kenya even more poorer..

When I tell you that Ghana is reliant on mineral resources, believe me. Numbers do not lie. Gold, petroleum oils, and crude oil account for 62 percent of your export...

bythwe way you that nigga giving a like like a zombie
the remaining 38% is almost twice the export of Kenya ....

Kenya export is highly reliant of primary products and minerals while your economy is highly dependent on tourism .....
This also explains your huge unemployment and poverty.

I would love to see how your theories worked for or against Their economic growth grin
we are not talking about SA, we are talking about Kenya.

SA economy has had a more organic growth than that oy your country which wakes up to bundle up figures which is not representative of your growth...

This explains why 40 million Kenyans are depressingly poor despite your fraudulent economic figures..

40 million is almost the size of SA population.

unfortunately Ghana economy is not dependent on mineral export and neither is Ghana ..

Ghana is solely dependent on the service sector and this is why Ghana is not in trouble even when minerals are trading for less.

16M paying taxes less than Uganda - 6B dollars?
We have made a conscious effort not to tax our businesses out of existence so that businesses can keep more of their profits which turn to have a greater trickle down effect than taxation will have...

Thanks to Prof Atta Mills, the tax expert, we know this.

Less Taxation is the principal reason why Ghanaians are better off than Kenyans and living greater quality of lives.

We have focus more on indirect taxes which is a fairer way to tax both the rich and poor base of their economic power to spend.

Why doesnt Mauritus or Rwanda pain me? I telling your the truth you do not want to hear. Your country is dealing with serious structural and systemic issues that wont be easy to solve.
1) Income Inequality - the World Worst - by far.
2) Poor education - poorer than even Ghana!
3) Immigration - 10M illegal immigrants from mostly Zim that doesnt look likely to fix their mess.
All that is manifesting in xenophobias, riots and crime - and of course out migration of skilled labour -
if Ghana and SA have poor education... Have you asked yourself how poorer that of Kenya is, since SA and Ghana turn to come out with the best education systems to represent Sub Saharan Africa on the global stage in all things education?

I don't know what you mean by limited economic reach...maybe if you expound further I will be able to understand.
Last I checked kenyas economy is one of the most diversified in the region.
let me explain to you..

At the upper income poverty line of 5.50 dollars, the poverty rate increase to 90% for Kenya...
This means that only 5 million people in Kenya are at the comfortable middle class.

And we all know that those people are mostly foreigners to the 90th percentile.

To be diverse, your economy must create a trickle down effect.

Even if we use the middle income line of 3.20 dollars per day which is currently used in Ghana, the poverty rate is still as high as 70% for Kenya...

Which means only between 15 and 18 million Kenyans will find themselves in the shaky middle class.

Informal sector=poverty. Kenya also has big informal sector - but we are trying to formalize them - by growing them to become enterprise.

I dont know if you have improved - I have seen data that your private sector employs only 300k (2007 data) - while Kenya private sector is approaching 3m.

You need to grow your formal private sector.
my private sector is employing 11 million people plus while the public sector is employing less than 2 million...

This is evident in our tax return filing..

Too bad only 7 million people are employed and file taxes in Kenya.

Informal sector does not equate to poverty...here

Long and short of the story, informal sector is helping Ghana so why don't you stick to your cooperatives then allow Ghana stick to it's informal sector?

Have you asked yourself why Ghanaians run Ghana but in Kenya it's foreigners that control your country? It's because of poverty.

Perhaps if you changed your ways and allowed your poor and the middle class to work in the informal sector you people would have reduced the kind of poverty you guys face in your country.
There is almost no middle class in Kenya

South Africas GDP was at 136.4 billion while Nigeria's was at 69.45 in the year 2000 ..8 yrs later Nigeria overtook SA by more than 50 billion .
What was the growth rate of Nigeria in the 8 yr period?
Nigeria had to readjust it GDP reporting system because it had been underreporting for years and everyone knew that.

Unfortunately, same can't be said for Kenya because of how limited your economic reach is and hence why your figures were highly disputed.

People are driven to the informal economy out of poverty. Not by choice. It cannot be an economy policy. It's the default - you will find people hawking or eking out a living in the streets out of poverty. That is why your poverty data need to be relooked.
I a country like Kenya where everything is monopolies by a few people, that will be true but here, it is not.

Here, people are driving into retailing because of the sheer size of the retail sector and how profitable it is.
My poverty data is comprehensively correct as it reveals the true service nature of my economy hence why even COVID could not deal with my economy like it did yours
