rvp20182: KQ got screwed by Oil futures. I don't blame them. Shareholders put pressure on KQ management to buy oil futures. This was the time Oil was retailing at 140 dollars. I think KQ bought it at that price for like 5yrs. One tragic decision - that has led to monumental losses - and saw once one of world most profitable airline down...but not OUT. KQ operation has never made a profit whatever you are talking about has only hanged it into more debt |

rvp20182: You better keep your gas underground because your signed forward contracts to take N-gas. You either take the gas or pay. You signed you'll be taking X cubics of gas - whether you find your own gas or not - is irrelevants. when N Gas supplies gas we will take it, after all we need more Gas. Our current Gas demand is behemont such that we currently have 2 LNG regasification facilities working and receiving LNG from Russian Rosneft It is sad that your government is broke such that it cant afford to bail out your power companydont project that frustration on anyone |

you are making noise go sold your power crisis.Currently, all gas supply for electricity in Ghana eastern enclave comes from Ghana Gas whatever Nigeria can supply is only an augmentation. What they supply is what they get paid for. Anyway, poor men always worry about rich people. There is a reason why Kenya is so dependent on aid. Even your budget is aid-dependent IMF and WB single largest debtor rvp20182: Dream on. You attempted to cancelled some of them. Trump kicked your arse - IPPS are hard to get out - 30yrs at minimum.
Now this year - you'll be paying Nigerians 850M dollars every year - for gas they will not supply - despite having you own LNG
Just think about that.
IMF has to come and bail you out. |

same old noise we are not paying for any over capacity go solve your bankrupt power company crisis rvp20182: You know until sometimes this year or last year I was Pro-Ghana. I had bought your gov well-oiled propaganda LINE, HOOK and SINKER. Honestly, I always thought Ghana was very progressive - it always seems to appear amongst the progressive nations like Rwanda, Botswana. Nothing makes me happier than seeing Africa countries succeed. Nothing makes me angrier than see Africa nation regress.
Then we started looking closely at Ghana - I guess out of boredom with Zoogeria - and look what we found.
Talk about power. You IDIOTS had serious Nigeria like blackouts in 2014/2015 that sunk your country. IMF came and bailed you out.
And what was the solution for your electricity crisis - You basically signed EVERY IPP contract you saw. Take or Pay. Signed. Your signed Gas deal with Nigeria - Take or Pay. Signed.
Now we are in 2020. You're paying for more than 2,000MW excess capacity. That is about 0.5B dollars.
And this year - the EXCESS GAS deal comes in - this year - WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOping 850M dollars EXCESS gas.
Seriously hobbits - you'll be throwing 1.3-1.5 BILLION DOLLARS down the drain. It's like flushing money.
And this lesson for South Africa - they need to be very careful with IPPS.
Kenya we had similar ambition - to get to 5,000MW - but when we saw the demand for power tapering - we stopped!!
Please GHANA USE YOUR BRAINS. DO BASIC DEMAND PROJECTION. DONT SIGN ANYTHING
Imagine paying 1.5B dollars for like 10yrs until excess capacity meets demand. Not funny. That is Railway Line from one corner of ghana to another. That is enough to build maybe 3,000kms every year. |

All this noise you are making shows how stupid By early 2022 Ghana electricity demand will hit 4500 MW Hence the investment, we are not dumb like you guys who are so poor such that you cant afford to invest in your future. All Ghana take and pay contracts were renegotiated and done with last year. You have a lot to learn No one in your country should be served with the poor electricity that they receive and That is for those who are lucky to have access rvp20182: Kenya doesn't mind lessons and best practises - there are things we surely can do with lessons. Many things we can learn from South Africa - but Eskom and SAA - seems to be sending wrong signals about your country's ANC management of public affairs.
But surely what can IMF colony teachers when they HAVE SOUTH AFRICA LIKE STRUCTURAL ELECTRICITY Issues that have sent it to IMF and they are back at it.
These are idi,ots with 5,000MW installed capacity when can only consume 2,700MW. They are paying 1 billion dollars annual excess capacity charge.
They went bankrupt because of an electricity and currency crisis.
Right now they are going rogue and terminating IPP contracts
Surely surely - the IMF colonly if you remove 1,000 MW meant for Minning Industry - have smaller per capita consumption than Kenya
They are only better than Nigeria - I mean everyone even Somalia is better than Nigeria when it comes to electricity.
Quote this RSA With capacity that’s almost double the country’s peak demand needs, Ghana’s electricity utility has to pay independent producers about $450m every year for energy that it doesn’t need or use . This adds to the sector’s liabilities, which are the biggest debt threat to a nation that seven months ago completed its 16th bailout programme with the International Monetary Fund. |

dont mind the kenyan economics is not his strong hold jl115: I said GDP Nominal is outdated for comparing countries for the reasons stated above hence why GDP ppp exist.... And If you don't believe an Investment Analyst from SA then maybe this will change your mind:
http://m.statisticstimes.com/economy/gdp-nominal-vs-gdp-ppp.php
"PPP basis arguably more useful when comparing differences in living standards between nations. A haircut in New York is more expensive than in Lima; the price of a taxi ride of the same distance is higher in Paris than in Tunis; and a ticket to a cricket game costs more in London than in Lahore. PPP is an exchange rate at which the currency of one country is converted into that of the second country in order to purchase the same volume of goods and services in both countries"
https://www.investopedia.com/updates/purchasing-power-parity-ppp/
https://applebutterdreams./the-difference-between-gdp-nominal-and-gdp-ppp/
"The two most common ways to measure GDP per capita are nominal and purchasing power parity (abbreviated PPP). Nominal is an attempt at an absolute measure, a sort of immovable standard that remains the same from country to country. It is the original concept of GDP. In contrast, PPP is an attempt at a relative measure, taking factors of each country into consideration in order to put a number on a person’s standard of living within that country."
- the Rand is one of the most volatile currencies in the world one day they it can depreciate by 20% then appreciate by 20% within days and we have seen this during the Zuma presidency and Ramaphosa presidency..... In the long run however the Rand is expected to appreciate against the dollar, which in turn will increase the GDP Nominal figure.... And thus Kenya will never catch up.
- South Africa will grow at 4% next year and the economy is set to contract 5.8% this year..... Not 10% as youbstated
- SA growth 2011: 3.8% 2012: 2.2%. 2013: 2.5% 2014: 1.9% 2015: 1.2% 2016: 0.4% 2017: 1.4% 2018: 0.8% 2019: - 0.6%
- the covid pandemic as actually helped Eskom as demand has dropped dramatically which has allowed its engineers to carry out critical maintenance....also as stated before Eskom is being totally restructured and IPPs are now able to sell direct to municipalities, thus will in fact help municipalities avoid load shedding entirely
- and only you are considering that Kenya will overtake Nigeria and SA....all non delusional people including your countrymen have never once mentioned that Kenya will overtake SA economically since it won't happen in our lifetime |
