rvp20182: Sorry, they confused cedis with the dollar. The authoritative figures come from your own gov. keep dreaming you are making noise as usual Ghanaians have so far used mobile wallets principally for transferring money to a person (peer-to-peer, P2P). According to Bank of Ghana data, the total value of all mobile money transactions reached 156 billion GHS ($29 billion) in 2017, compared to 35 billion GHS ($6.5 billion) in 2015. Gradually the range of mobile accessible goods and services has successfully expanded to the purchase of mobile communication credits, payment of public service bills or salaries. |

That is 9 times!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! to confuse total number of registered mobile money subscribers which stands at 32 million with total value of transactions which stands at almost 45 billion dollars as at 2019 |

According to the Summary of Economic and Financial data, mobile money transactions recorded GH¢32.8billion in value as at the end of 2019 – signifying a more than 45 percent increase from the previous year’s value. However, cheques – which are the main payment system for banks – recorded GH¢16.9billion in December 2019; a decline of GH¢300million from the value recorded in the previous year. keep dreaMING |

rvp20182: A true hobbit. I saw you're struggling to do 9,000 transactions a minute...while Kenya is probably doing 9,000 transactions every second. the value of those transactions is far below Ghana's i dont know where you got your 9,000 trans per min from anyway |

rvp20182: Are ATMS everywhere in rural South Africa. Are ATMS everywhere like a PHONE. You're just incorrigible. They need it - that is why they tried - but it failed. It fails when you do stuff like QR code when smartphone penetration is 20%.
Look at Nigeria - they botched their implementation - by having banks lead it - and their Mobile Money is DEAD on arrival.
Mobile Money - if Kenya had not succeeded in such scale - would not be known.
South Africa failed - because they didn't think through the implementation. yes ATMs are everywhere in rural South Africa including banking Apps Mobile money cannot succeed in places where the available systems are already advanced than mobile money |

rvp20182: You're a typical Zulu with poor education - an injustice by the Boer. The first creditor is the former employees. They will probably seize the planes and sell them. The former employees are mostly South African - but they need to get paid. I am not sure even if those planes were fully paid for - or financed by Banks. They maybe South African banks - but it's not the gov. Who will seize the plane ? Too many tantrums without using your brain It is government debt and the government can decide to write it off |

rvp20182: Well, it depends - The presidential jet is national property - paid for - no debt - but the assets owed by parastatals that are choking in debt are NOT national properties - they are national liabilities.
SAA has filed for bankruptcy - because its liabilities exceed those assets.
So has now - it's no assets - it has a mountain of debt to climb. The assets it has will be put on fire-sale by its creditors. i guess you dont know what a liability is It is a government-owned airline hence all the debt are owed to Government So all it assets are government own. |

it means nothing when an Investor will willingly choose South Africa over Kenya Because he is more certain to have access to services in SA than kenya rvp20182: Dear Austine,
Nice try but some of the data is a bit outdated. Kenya did census last year. Ghana is set to do a census this year - I guess COVID won't allow.
Kenya is making tremendous progress on all fronts. We even long overtook South Africa in "Ease of doing business" index - and Morocco I think - just need to try to reach Rwanda and Mauritius.
From demographics: In 2009 - we the usual SSA/developed world country - but in 2020 we are starting to transition.
In another 10yrs - we will see the huge payoff - as the economy grows tremendously - and all the indicators improve. All we need to do is find a way to make the extra working population engaged in the economy. |
