take out Gold Cocoa and Oil and Ghana export will still be larger than that of Kenya

so you are still not a mate to Ghana

grin grin grin

mtisTheQubit:
all of them apart from the tiny ones... grin grin
Anyway read ths..

Whilst Ghana was the first colonised country to achieve independence in 1957, over 60 years on, the country’s economy remains dependent on the export of just three primary commodities – gold, cocoa and now oil, which together make up over 80% of Ghana’s exports.

This dependence on commodities was the central factor underlying a debt crisis which was common to much of the global South in the 1980s and 1990s. Global commodity prices fell at the start of the 1980s, rapidly increasing the size of foreign debt payments which could only be paid out of foreign earnings such as exports. As commodity producers across the world expanded production in order to pay debts, on the advice of the IMF and World Bank, commodity prices stayed low for over 20 years.

your country is so desperate in need of money such that your president went to beg Trump for his small pocket money because IMF is skeptical about giving Kenya any more money.

You are in a debt crisis and your budget is heavily reliant on IMF and WB money
That is really F up.

Now you covid fund too is heavily reliant on UNDP UNICEF WFP and DANIDA donations

Kenyans and the government of Kenya own 60% giving them ownership. There many other indigenous Kenyan companies that Ghana couldn't muster so let me know if you want to go down that road.
the largest shareholder is Vodafone
individual shareholders vote alongside Vodafone hence how Vodafone added Mpesa to Safaricom business.

Safaricom is the only large company in Kenya, Ghana has so many of them.

safaricom is a Kenyan company owned partly by Vodafone, 30% if am not wrong.
The company is now under our government.
your government owns 30% whiles Vodafone holds 40% making it a majority share holder.

the difference between your country and mine is that

Your country is in a debt trap that is pushing it to borrow even more and now all it creditors are afraid to loan it money while Ghana is an economic beacon to become a full middle-income country in 5 years.

did you ask of indigenous companies?

is Safaricom an indigenous company?

Isnt Vodafone the largest shareholder of Safaricom?

Likewise AngloGold is the largest shareholder of AngolGold Ashanti

dumb dumb grin grin
gallivant:
It was about indigenous companies. You had something to say about Safaricom and invited the beating. Next time be a lil wiser.

MTN Ghana and MTN are 2 different companies..... MTN owns the majority share in MTN Ghana...... Ghanaians don't own shares in MTN.
same way AngloGold and Ashanti GoldFields are two different companies who merged to become a behemont corporation.

and? How does paying tax make it a Ghanaian company..... All companies foreign or local must pay tax in the countries they operate in.
Does it operate in Ghana or not ?

The government of Ghana has an arrangement with them where by Ghana government owns a portion of the Company in order for them to open a new mine.
2. Ashanti Goldfields has been in operation since 1880 before merging with AngloGold
Is AngloGold South African?

This is the merger document, you can read

Its a south african company listed in ghana stock exchange

Just like BMW is German despite BMW SA being listed in JSE
BMW SA is part of the business environment of SA hence it is a South African company by establishment `
It activity forms part of the SA GDP and not Germany.

Mind you, we are not talking about ownership

if it operates in Ghana, its a Ghanaian based comp

that gives 50% of their earnings to the Ghanaian government

you said MTN, Anglo gold and goldfields are Ghanaian companies.

And? That still doesn't make them a Ghanaian company..... Just like McDonald's isn't a South African company just because they operate in SA.

They ask you which Ghanaian companies boasted an X amount of turnover....you then said MTN, AG, and goldfields which are not Ghanaian companies.

I don't care if it is a separate entity, it is still owned by the parent company which has majority share and thus in charge of decision making.

And?
the question from the Kenyan was about companies in both countries that make a billion dollars

it wasn't about indigenous companies.
