Bro Im not the one claiming AngloGold and Goldfields are Ghanaian companies, however I know for the fact that they are SAn..........the onus is on you to prove they are Ghanaian not me wink
Ghana is expected receive direct taxes of about $2.2 billion from the reopened AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mines, should the miner meet the target of producing an estimated 500,000 ounces of gold each year.

So Ghana has no concept of a foreign company. All companies register. They register as a foreign company - even if they let you buy one share. Basically what you're telling us in many words is GHANA HAS NO INDIGENOUS COMPANY it can be proud of.
Ghana have indigenous companies
In fact a lot more than Kenya

According to company registration info.

But the discussion was not about indigenous companies but about companies by operation

If you said MTN Ghana then I wouldn't have said anything however AngloGold and Goldfields are not registered companies in Ghana, they are just listed on the GSE as far as I know!
no company can operate in Ghana without registering as a company in Ghana

So when you say it is not a registered company, it makes me want to question your education.

Ashanti Goldfields
AngloGold Ashanti are all registered companies in Ghana that pay taxes and Social Security of workers.

I studied Bcom Chartered Accounting, I had Corporate Law for 2 years!

Majority shareholding gives you majority ownership not more ownership, and when you are the majority owner then you are the outright owner!
i guess you dont know what more is

it gives you more ownership over the person with a lesser share but it doesn't give you outright ownership

Since the word outright means wholly grin grin grin

do you get it now?

You're dealing with desperate folks who have exported all the brains outside. If South African company has more than 50% shareholding of any company in Ghana - it ceases being Ghanian - and become South African- either by acquisition or merger - or as a registered subsidiary.
any company registered under Ghana legal regime becomes a Ghanaian company despite ownership

This is company law

I told you, Safaricom is worth more than the top 25 Ghanaian companies combined. You are a little country with next to zero market capitalization. You survive on oil and gold, controlled by South Africans. Say you are sorry for comparing yourselves with Kenyans.
safaricom is a small company when you compare it to Ghanaian companies

Ghanian are just desperate - MTN, Tullow, AngloGold - are foreign companies.Next is Nigeria to claim Shell, Airtel, etc. Please understand what is a foreign-owned company and what is a local company. A subsidiary of a foreign-owned company is foreign. A joint venture btw foreign company and local company is not.

If company management, ownership and HQ are outside - that country - that is a foreign company. If the shareholding is more than 50% - foreign.

Shares can be listed anywhere. You can even list it in Japan - and company has no operation there.
so IMF is moving their HQ to China
does it make IMF a Chinese company.

some of you really make stupid arguments..

Do you know what a company incorporation is?
Even in commons law, you are thought that a company is a separate legal entity.

dont be so desperate, it just make you dumber.

No one is talk the ownership structure of the company but the legal establishment of the company.

Tullow Ghana is a legal entity in Ghana established according to Ghanaian company law
Likewise ENI Ghana, AngloGold Ashanti, Ashanti Goldfields, MTN Ghana

Corporate law is an umbrella term, it includes company law as well..........which obviously was also part of my syllabus.

And if you knew company law you would know that when an entity/person purchases more than 50%(majority stake) in company it makes that entity the majority/outright owner/shareholder.
corporate law is way deeper than what you will do in accounting and auditing

Majority shareholding gives you more ownership of a company but not outright ownership.

When you by the majority stake(more than 50%) in the company you become the owner..........its very simple mate wink
even a 1% shareholding makes you and owner.

anyway, that was not what we were talking about.

We were talking about A company by establishment as a legal entity in a Geographic setting.

You dont know corporate law

Neither do you know company law

And yes you are the owner when you have more than 50% OWNERSHIP or shares
Everyone is an owner by shareholding

You said outright owner and i said, even with majority shareholdings
you dont become an outright owner.

"The AngloGold journey began in South Africa in May of 1998, when the gold and uranium mining interests of Anglo American Corporation of South Africa were consolidated. In August 1998, AngloGold became the first South African company to list on the NYSE."

https://www.anglogoldashanti.com/company/history/

Come again?
The Ashanti Goldfields Corporation is a gold mining company based in Ghana that was founded by Joseph Ellis and Joseph Biney both from Cape Coast. The Ashanti Mine, located at Obuasi, 56 km south of Kumasi, has been producing since 1897. The mine is sited on one of the world's major gold deposits and is one of the ten largest in the world.

In 1994, the Ghana government, the majority shareholder, announced plans to sell 20-25 percent of its interest in AGC in a share flotation. The company was listed on the London and Ghana stock exchanges. It was the largest flotation ever organised by any gold mining company coordinating and advisory team alone numbered over 200 people. Each of the company's 10,000 employees received five free shares.

In 1996 AGC was listed on the New York Stock Exchange to raise new capital, it was the first African company to appear on Wall Street. In 1999, the company succumbed to an ill-executed gold price hedge led by Goldman Sachs, which drove it to the brink of bankruptcy.[1]

In 2004, it merged with AngloGold to create the world's second-largest gold producer, AngloGold Ashanti company. AngloGold is based in South Africa and majority-owned by Anglo American group.

No you are the outright owner if you own a majority share, in other words more than 50%.

I have two degrees in accounting/Auditing........I know more about corporate law than you wink
1. you are not an outright owner when you own a majority share
You just have more voting rights.

You have degrees in Accounting but not law
