rvp20182: Ghana - economic growth fuelled by oil.
It is unfortunate that the government boasts GDP growth of 6.3%, but about 4.5% of this growth happens in the oil sector which only employs very specialized and skilled personnel leaving the real sector with just less than 2% growth. you and the person you are quoting are dumb Ghana mineral sector growth is 2% while the none mineral sector growth is 5.4% Government has set a target of 6.8 percent growth in overall GDP, and a non-oil GDP growth rate of 5.4 percent for year-end 2018.speak with fact and not speculations and stop complaining about your underperformance |

jl115: They are South African owned companies
secondly you never mentioned the subsidiaries in your post, you just straight up claimed MTN, Anglo Gold and Goldfields are all of a sudden Ghanaian companies.
If you said MTN Ghana then no problem(I probably still would of told you that it is SAn owned though ) ..... Also im relatively certain Anglogold and goldfields operate as external Companies in Ghana and dont have subsidiaries there. no one said they are not SA owned companies are they operating in Ghana or not? The discussion was, companies in Ghana and companies in Kenya. And i told you for a fact that according to the companies Act A company by establishment is a separate entity from it mother company. They have their own directors, coo, cfo and etc |

rvp20182: Let me help you. I know more law than you can ever google. There is a limitation to liability for a person and or a company. For example in most jurisdictions - you cannot be tried for some offense if some time has passed. Status of limitation kicks in. A company can be sued on its own. And depending on how they are registered... limited company...unlimited company.. private limited...public limited...that LIMITED part defines their liability. What you're describing is for an unlimited companies that enjoy lots more limitation of liabilities. The same way UN or diplomatic stuff enjoy lot more immunity...so if you see JustKid ltd - know it's limited - and if you see Justkid pvt - it probably isn't. you know nothing about law the write up above simply shows Companies registered under a companies act is it own legal entity |

jl115: I was simply stating that when you have more than 50% shareholding in a company then you are the (majority) owner/Parent and control technically the entire decision making process.
I wasn't arguing that when you own more than 50% you are now the wholly owner of the company... of course when you have more than 50% shareholding, you are a majority shareholder no one disputed that. You rather confused yourself when you used the words Outright Owner |

jl115: External companies can and do operate in Ghana and all over the world mate A company doesn't need to be incorporated in Ghana to operate in Ghana.........
Also AngloGold Ashanti either has a Ghanaian subsidiary that I don't know about or it is a registered External company. But a company need to be registered in Ghana to operate in Ghana Hence a new company is formed under a different legal regime so just say you dont know about it but dont go making baseless argument |

jl115: So we are taking the the literal dictionary meanings of words now? just going to ignore the context...........Can't remember saying if you own more than 50% that makes you 100% the owner or wholly owner of a company?
Simply stated that when you own more than 50% you are the outright(or in context the majority owner). we are talking about the legal meaning of the word Outright That is what it mean if you say someone is an outright owner according to law. And i simply told you that by law, 50 plus 1 percent ownership is not an outright ownership. you can take it from someone who did law or not |
