PoliticsRe: B4 U Blame The The Govt, What Have You Done To Help Under-privileged Nigerians? by Justcash(op): 3:31am On Nov 10, 2010
@Mens dept: You are on point. Most wealthy and successful Nigerians keep ignoring little things they can do to help the poor and needy Nigerians. The fact is that most privileged Nigerians actually enjoy the hunger and helplessness of under-privileged Nigerians. They like the look of awe and wish in the eyes of poor people when they brandish and flaunt their wealth. They fail to understand that 1,000 Naira can pay a kid's school fees, buy books and sew uniforms for a kid. They tend to ignore the fact that there is no proper drinking water, and they can actually use a small amount of their money (Less than 100,000 Naira (Less than $1000))  to provide clean drinking water for the poor in the community and make an everlasting impact in their lives. Some are even professionals, like Doctors, Engineers, Lawyers etc, yet they don't use their skills to give free medical treatment to the poor, Build some little engineering projects like wooden pedestrian bridges or even some'n like a sports facility, Provide free legal services for the poor that cannot fight for themselves due to lack of money etc. This is what the rich don't ignore in very developed societies (In the United states, Billionaires like Bill gates and warren buffet devoted a huge part of their wealth to the poor and needy). It is sad.
I believe that the little efforts you have made in the past must have salvaged many poor Nigerian lives.

Do you know that a $500-$1000 help or Simple voluntary informal home teaching service will make a great impact on the lives of these poor kids?  Don't wait for the government, play your part in salvaging them

PoliticsB4 U Blame The The Govt, What Have You Done To Help Under-privileged Nigerians? by Justcash(op): 2:54pm On Nov 09, 2010
Nigerians tend to point fingers at the government without understanding that they can play a very little part in ensuring the development of the country.
It is a stale news to announce that the Nigerian government is messing up. The question now is, what are privileged Nigerians doing to help the under-privileged? What steps are the wealthy Nigerian masses taking to ensure development?

There are Nigerians that suffered alot before succeeding to leave the country, but when they become wealthy and successful abroad, they return to Nigeria to flaunt their wealth instead of helping to salvage the situation that made them to suffer in the first place.

I decided to write this topic because this evening while I was in a biz meeting in Malaysia, I sat beside a group of young Nigerians, celebrating something (Probably an achievement (either Good or bad)). There were more than 200 bottles of hennessy, Moet And other assorted expensive drinks (No exaggeration), scattered around their tables, and they were chattering loudly about how silly the Nigerian government is. The one that sat closest to my table was complaining about how he could not stay in his family's home because of the poor Neighbors around them. He boasted that he stayed in a hotel for 2 months and they were amazed when he drove to his area in his Escalade jeep, flaunting. He went ahead to talk about how there was no proper drinking water around the community that his family is staying in Nigeria, and how unemployed and poor youths were many around there. I later discovered that he was the host of the party. I called him aside and told him that he could use a pinch of the money he splashed this evening to help alot of those poor and unemployed youths around his Family's home forever. He just nodded and avoided me till I left. Considering the class and cost of the spot, the guy splashed nothing less than USD $15,000 this Night. USD$1,000 will make alot of difference in  the lives of many poor families in Nigeria.

I will like to outline different little ways wealthy and successful Nigerians can help under-privileged Nigerians, without having to go broke, or feel at loss.

1. If you voluntarily provide and maintain one bore-hole in a location inhabited by poor Nigerian masses, you will help alot of poor people to have access to clean drinking water. This will do alot of good to the health and quality of life of poor Nigerians.

2. If you embark on a voluntary teaching drive for either Primary, secondary or Tertiary education students, with a provision of any cheap learning and teaching aid like maths sets, T-square, calculator, four figure table etc. You will contribute to ensuring that the failure rate of students in Nigeria is reduced, and valuable knowledge is passed. You can also pick out students from poor homes and pay their school fees. Most of their fees are less than 500 Naira per-session. You can pay their fees, sow uniforms for them, buy books and give them gifts if they perform well in school. This will make a big impact in their lives . If they turn out successful, they will do the same to other poor Nigerians.

3. Embarking on voluntary Skill acquisition teaching for unemployed Nigerians to learn and become more entrepreneurial. This will help them to learn basic skills that can help them to survive and stay off crime. For example, a professional DJ can teach many youths how to be a DJ. The youths can use this skill to make money on their own, without having to steal or rob banks. Same goes for cobblers, fashion designers, business men etc it will even be more helpful to set up some students with less than $1,000 after teaching them. If 100 privileged Nigerians does this for 100 unemployed and under-privileged youths, a channel will effectively be created for a line of entrepreneurs to emerge, and will ensure employment in the long-term.

4. Sponsoring community sports programs like soccer, basketball, boxing etc by investing a little money in provision of kits and coaching. This will aid discovery of talents and empowerment of youths to strive for excellence in the areas of their sports interest. This will also keep youths off the streets, and away from lives prone to crime.

5. Creation and leading of strong masses developmental pressure groups to ensure proper leadership. A group like this can use modern means of sensitization (Ensured by you) to enlighten the masses and pressurize leaders in the L.G, State or federal level to become developmental.

The list is endless.

You need to be ashamed if you drive out every morning in a posh car from squalor, ignoring all the little things you can do to help ensure development and yet turn to accuse the government of being anti-developmental. I want you to know that you are much more anti-developmental than the government in this case.

This kinda made no sense to me. No offence though. Just try to break it down for we simple folk undecided

Government's business Rules: Regulations and laws mapped out by the government for businesses in a country to follow in the conduct of their businesses

Business Rules: Natural rules that a particular business environment has created for businesses to ensure profitability. These rules may require proactive or reactive structures for a business organization to remain competitive in a country's informal business structure. For example, It may be necessary to be in the right books of the business regulatory authorities through giving frequent gifts, or embarking on Corporate social responsibility frequently in order to have a reasonable chance to make profit. In Japan, you must belong to a business family cycle to survive.

What I was saying is that when a government's business law is not structured in such a way that it can accommodate the practical business rules in a country, people tend to follow the business rules and ignore the government's law. This is because business is all about profit. This entails ignoring (bending) the law of the government in order to make profit. Some business people tend to do their business strictly with adherence to government's law, which makes them to ignore the rules of business in the country. This ultimately leads to their failure. Then they run to the government, asking to be salvaged because they follow the rules of the government, while at the same time, they ask that the successful ones that play according to the industry's rule should be punished.

This is the best I can explain to you.

That's why somebody can steal and boldly go to church and testify of the Lord's Goodness.
If we are to go by the context you referred to the term "Clean", then there is no Clean billionaire in the world. Even Pastor Adeboye (like many other billionaire pastors) will be referred to as "Unclean" (is a pastor supposed to amass so much wealth while his congregation is made up of paupers and hungry peeps among some few rich peeps? He could as well share the wealth and change lives, but he bought a private jet and is cruising in the air like every billionaire does) Note: I'm not judging him, just trying to tell you that he bent the rule abit to his own benefit and as a Capitalist, I don't see anything wrong with it.
Naturally business is a dirty game of survival. It's rules differ according to countries. If you want to survive in business, you need to play the game according to the business rules in a country. This is why people like Dangote will float ontop for a long time and keep controlling the game as they deem fit.
There is a difference between business rules and a country's rule about Conduct of business. If they are not properly matched (Like in the case in Nigeria and many countries in the world), then people naturally adjust to the business rules, which automatically means bending a country's rule on business. Those that fail to recognize and adjust to this change simply sink into eternal bankruptcy, and end up asking why the righteous fail and the sinners survive.

Yes Folks, I have put deep thought to why the economic climate in Nigeria is so hostile to business? Only the most determined do business in this our land? Why? From the constantly changing government policies that makes business planning impossible to multiplicity of taxes (formal and informal) that cripples cash-flow. Even the availability and cost of funds is downright killing!!!!   Hah, it is difficult men

Our political and economic managers need to be flogged. I am already researching Ghana!
I feel your point. Doing business in Nigeria requires beyond economic indices and foresightedness. I even doubt if the principle of demand and supply functions well in Nigeria. If you want to survive in the Nigerian business environment, you need to "Shine your eyes" and "Use your village sense". If you are Nigerian, you will understand what I mean. No amount of righteousness can make you succeed in your business in Nigeria, if you don't bend the rules a little. when you shine your eyes, you will see your impediments and tackle them as a Nigerian. These impediments cannot be seen by Foreigners. That is why CNN and BBC will continue to call Nigeria a hell hole, yet genuine billionaires keep emerging from the same business environment (as in really genuine and clean), which keeps them wondering how.

Going to Ghana will help if you are into Manufacturing. If it is buying and selling or business services that you are into, Omo, stay for Nigeria o! Ghana will frustrate you and make you to regret ever leaving Nigeria. Stay in Nigeria because upon all the push around that you will experience, you still stand to make more money in Nigeria with some little effort than in Ghana.

This is the problem with Nigeria.
Ezeuche said that he was sorry for all the tribal bashing he embarked on in the past. Instead of Peeps like Elrazur, Aigbofa(Igbo bashing 2IC)  and co to repent too, they want him to run naked in the street before they'll accept that he intends to change. Simply doing the same thing that Ezeuche did would have made Nairaland a less tribal bashing online community. The way they are taunting Ezeuche and asking him to lick their buttocks, The born-again Ezeuche will soon become born-against once more .

Crude Oil:
The south easterners are not the poorest in Nigeria. And on the marginalization issue, I believe the SE's are the engineers of the predicament, like a previous poster stated, they really need to grow some balls and take necessary actions instead of whining and ranting about marginalization all the time
Please can you expatiate on the "SE are the engineers of their predicament."

You dnt need balls to
1. Build airports and make it an "International" airport. You need FG's Permit.
2. Construct a seaport. You need FG's Permit.
3. Construct federal roads and bridges (Onitsha-Asaba) bridge. You need FG's permit.
4. Raise and equip a standard police/security force. You need FG's permit.
5. Site important federal parastatals and facilities. You need FG's Permit.
6. Create conditions that can stimulate employment.
7. Provide incentives and infrastructure to boost business growth and development.
ETC. All these require FG's attention, input and approval than just having balls.

What are you expecting? You expect the East to develop balls and pick up guns to start killing other Nigerians, blowing pipelines, try to assassinate the president and take over, make MASSOB a militant group?  Or you expect the East to embark on radical change, when a simple issue as granting the Enugu airport an "International" status left alot of leaders from other parts of the country antagonistic to it, and peeing in their pants? Which other sort of "balls" do you expect from the East when it is the only region that ever stood up and said that it doesn't wanna stay in the Nigerian union, and was able to defend it for a long time despite heavy losses.
Know what you ask for, because when you see the "Balls" that the East gat, you may not really like it.

Abagworo:
You ended up saying thesame thing.

Nah, it is not the same thing. Living in an area with a saturated market does not make one poor. A saturated market still gat its players, movers and shakers. Those that cannot bear the competitive intensity associated with it would not dare to enter such a market. Those in it have a tendency of spreading out for competitive advantage. Despite how few they may be, there are still many people from other ethnic groups in the East moving on with the competitive intensity in the region.
You cannot equate a saturated market with being poor. A saturated market has been fully utilized, as a result of which opportunities become little and new areas are ventured into, Like what Innoson is doing.  it is the unsaturated ones that shows some sign of being poor, due to unrecognized, underutilized, and redundant opportunities that leaves people poor. Which is the same problem we have in Nigerian leadership. Lack of ability to recognize opportunities and means of ensuring development. If we had good and fore-sighted leaders, Onitsha, Aba, Awka, Lagos and Kano would be generating more revenue and ensuring more employment than the Petroleum sector.
The East is not poor. It was grossly neglected by the FG for many years, probably a consequence of the civil war.
PoliticsRe: Southeast Poorest Zone In Nigeria by Justcash(m): 11:49pm On Nov 02, 2010
Dear Poster, You are totally wrong. The use of "POOREST" shows that you know nada about where you are from. Use of "Lack of FG's presence" would have been better.

The difference between a rich Igboman and rich peeps from other part of Nigeria is that their wealth is spread to other ordinary Igbo people in the form of apprenticeship. They rarely run organised business settings with employed staff. They run informal structures for their staffing need. This is why it is difficult to find Igbo men among the forbes richest Africans. It is because the richer an Igbo man is, the more Igbo "Serving" boys he'll have. And such acts brings more responsibility to the Igbo rich men because they extend their wealth to the families of their boys. This is called "Igba boy" in Igbo land. These Boys that become "boys" to rich men are set up in business (Or other forms) and let go. When they start making some money, they get their own boys. This is why wealth is well spread in the South East. If you know how much these "Boys" make on their own to help their families, you will understand that you are wrong. This is aside from the abundant professionals, top political figures, Academicians, abundant sports personalities, Wealthy Entertainment professionals, the wealthy "bad" men etc that are in the region.
South East is one of the richest, if not the richest region in Nigeria. The wealth that flows around there is largely unnoticeable, but huge.

Contrary to your opinion, the reason why there are few Nigerians from other ethnic groups in the East is because the market and business system there is saturated. The large population in the east has made it impossible to see ideas that has not been implemented, or positions that has not been taken up. This is why even Easterners are migrating out of the region to unharnessed and unsaturated Areas. Funny enough, as over populated and wealthy as Lagos state is, it is largely unsaturated compared to Onitsha and Aba. There are still abundant opportunities in Lagos state. In Aba, any new idea that can generate money spreads like a wild fire, and becomes intensely harnessed. In Lagos a new idea can enjoy some monopoly over time, before others can duplicate it. For example, Once Innoson starts making billions, watch how fast other car manufacturers will spring up in the south East. Also watch how fast such manufacturers will want to spread to other parts of Nigeria for competitive advantage over people like Innoson. On the other hand, If innoson was in the west, they will gain more patronage than competition over a long period of time. That is what I mean.

Do you know that it is difficult to go to a home in the South East and see a family without a very successful or wealthy member (Their Wealth may be good or bad)? My point is that in terms of being poor, the East is far from it.

DO your research properly.

They are just speaking it on and insulting anyone that begs them to help translate it. Just an observation. This is not the first time I am noticing it. Most Yorubas does the same thing when they speak their language in front of someone from another tribe. Dem don forget say no be everybody sabi speak Yoruba. Insulting someone for not knowing how to speak your language is a sign of pure illiteracy and St'pi'dity. PoliticsRe: As The Nigerian States Develop: by Justcash(m): 11:55am On Oct 21, 2010
My point is for a Con-federal Nigeria that has different nations held together by a weak central government. These nations can be in many pieces, but they will be more responsible for their development. They will have their rights to instill their values, control their resources, create sources of incomes for themselves and control them, have their own police security outfits carved to suite their Socio-religious systems and terrain (The army would be national, with equal contribution from every nation in the union) etc.
This way, there will be peace (Because Hausas, Igbos, Yorubas etc can practice what they want, how they want it, and can make other Nigerian nationalities to respect their system without argument) and progress (Because a healthy competition will brew up among the nations as a result of envy and pride which is a typical feature of Nigerians).
MEND, MASSOB, BOKO HARAM will disappear.
Urge for ZONING and NATIONAL FEDERAL CHARACTER will disappear because the federal government will become unattractive.
Power supply problems will disappear in many Nigerian nations because there will be no need to keep the deceptive and annoying national grid.
Ethnic massacre, Religious riots etc will disappear.
People will only blame themselves and their nation rather than other Nigerian nations for their leadership backwardness.
Progressive Leaders like Fashola, Chime, Amaechi, Duke, Saraki etc will find it easier to manage a smaller and more homogeneous areas without much stress.
Non-progressive leaders like T. Orji, Ohakim, Mr Tura, OGD etc will have no strong FG to protect them, and no where to hide from the wrath of their people.

^smart post.

Also you people act like all ppl do in nigeria is kill and eat ppl from other tribes lol.

walking through any lagos market, at any gathering of NIGERIAN ppl, the result is unanimous: NOBODY CARES ANYMORE.

Everyone is going to prefer their tribe and some ppl will have prejudice but the level of mixing and cooperating of tribes FAR out weighs 3 or 4 'ethnic' fights per every 2 years in a country of 150 million.

Nobody really cares anymore and anyone acting like tribe is the #1 issue in nigeria hasn't been in naija since Babangida.

I spent 2 days hanging out in Alaba market. Sellers and Buyers from all tribes came, laughed, communicated, argued, and simply went about their business. Its is what i've been seeing in Nigeria for the past ever.

My father went to a delegation for GEJ to meet him and delegates from all over the country and the first thing he told me was boldly: Everyone has put the tribe thing behind them.

LOL! @ the last quote. It is indeed very naive to make such a statement. Really? Everyone has put tribe behind them yet;

Zoning in very important to Arewa CF even though people claim that it is for PDP?
Every thing is done according to quota system and Federal character over qualification?
South South Leaders and MEND are crying war if Jonathan is not allowed to lead?
Beroms and Hausas are slaughtering themselves?
It is difficult to find an Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, Ijaw etc leading states that are not within the boundaries of their ethnic group?
The North/South dichotomy is very much alive?
Recently a fracas broke out in Lagos between hausas and Yoruba area boys over tribal and religious issues?
Nairalanders from different ethnic groups fight every day over tribe (A true reflection of how it is)?
ACF, Ohanaeze ndi Igbo and Afenifere still exist, influence the choice of decisions to be to their interest than the general interest of Nigeria?

It is this your urge to bend the truth that is keeping Nigeria backwards. The truth is that a form of division is the key. Even the Alaba Igbos that you see and interact with every day have some arms hidden in their stalls to rise up in the case of any ethnic attacks on them, as they did recently in the North. Why would they do that if they have put tribe behind them? It will take decades for such to disappear, because it was dug very deep into the foundation of the Nation called Nigeria.

bermuda1:
The only way Nigeria can improve is for all people to understand that we are better off working together than apart

Using the demography of Malasia as a case study. The indigenous Malays make up 65% of the population and as such control the politics and the government. Chinese make up 26% and control the commerce and administration. South Asians (Indians etc) make up 8% and dominate the more unskilled and manual tasks.

These 3 ethnic groups privately detest each other. however, they all understand that their individual prosperity is linked to their co-operation with the other. sadly, until Nigeria and the rest of Africa get a grasp of this concept, I am afraid we will still be using candle under the bright sunlight

@ Bermuda: Malaysia is controlled by the 65% Malays, who are moslems, and force their language/culture on the Chinese and Indian malays. Infact, if you are not a moslem in Malaysia, and you don't speak malay, you are in for a tough time. Even the Chinese malaysians that you call commercial gurus depend on malay Malaysians for chances to do business and succeed. As a matter of fact, chinese run businesses, Malays own the businesses.  So, it is not a good example, and is not comparable to the Nigerian situation. It can only be comparable if other ethnic groups in Nigeria allow an ethnic group to dominate in every sphere, and share opportunities to other ethnic groups as they deem fit. Even you know how impossible this is in Nigeria.
The fact remains that the ethnic groups in Nigeria finds it difficult to exist together without some form of ethnic, socio-political or religious strife erupting. This is because every group claims some form of superiority over others, sees themselves as different from other groups and strive to get a bigger share in the country by trying to trample on and control other ethnic groups. In Nigeria, there are several nations being forced to stay as one. Once a form of division is ensured, and inter-ethnic strife, struggle etc are eliminated, Nigerians will focus on how to ensure their progress, and not feel threatened, marginalised or under-rated by other ethnic groups. A good example is Singapore. As soon as the Singapore Chinese succeeded in trampling upon the Singapore Malays and Indians, they moved up and developed. This is because it became easier for the Singapore Chinese to control the pace and direction of the country, through Lee Kuan yew.
Saying that we have to ensure some form of partitioning for progress in Nigeria is the sad truth. Sweeping it under the carpet is a pretentious act

Errrrrrrm, Dapobear is on point.
It is one thing to have ethno-cultural diversity in a country. It is another thing to have a Governable, well fused and progressive ethno-cultural diversity in a country.
For those of you giving instances with countries that have some measure of diversity like Nigeria, you should ask yourselves if the diversity in those countries serve as impediments to their development and peaceful co-existence.
Nigeria's diversity is different because it serves as a huge impediment to our peaceful co-existence and national progress. All those federal character, zoning bull craps are real impediments to our coexistence. They show that we wish for a form of separation for peace and progress to reign.
Partitioning may not necessarily mean outright separation. Nigeria will be more progressive as a con-federation than as a united entity. Fact is that it will;
1. Ensure that every region gets governed by their leaders without having to wait for their turns in a zoning arrangement.
2. It will reduce the amount of religious massacres that happens frequently.
3. It will ensure that resources are effectively controlled by regions, thereby putting an end to the MEND/militancy Phenomenon.
4. It will get the people closer to their leaders, and give less routes for a corrupt leader to get protected by a weak central government.
5. It will aid easy policing and provision of security.
6. It give way for leaders to govern their own people with the passion of providing the best for them.
7, it will give rise to healthy competition for development among regions.

The list is endless.
Nigeria will definitely move forward if it is partitioned.

Funny thing is that if you observe properly, 80% of the people throwing tantrums here are living abroad. Ironically, most of them (Especially the teens here) are dependent on money sent from Nigeria by their folks, who happen to be doing well in Nigeria.
I just observed that Nigerians will wake up one day and discover that Nigeria is actually developing, and it will seem like magic to them. That was exactly how we woke up and saw the telecoms revolution, the change in banking sector and even the growth in the entertainment industry (Movie and music). They always happen like magic.

There is no doubt that the economy is growing. To ensure development in the country, the growth needs to be complemented through the provision of basic and advanced infrastructures. I have seen some steps taken by the government (State and federal) in all the sectors of the country e;g Power, banking, manufacturing, roads, security etc. They need to be expanded and sustained over many years for them to reach everywhere in the country.

Note that it will still take years to ensure a proper provision of these infrastructures e.g GEJ and his team will need to sustain the pace at which they strive to solve the power problem in the country, over a period of years before it can be solved. It cannot be solved overnight. It is the quality and type of leadership in place that can ensure the achievement of those goals. That is why we must not let anti-developmental leaders to ever lead us. If we do, we will be heading back to the abyss, after crawling up with lots of difficulty.

I wondered why this thread was so dry and why Bk male/babe, Babapupa and co were not here to claim "Holier than thou" by calling the man and his daughter's tribe names, then I noticed that the man and his daughter were not "Igbos". No wonder this thread is dry. Poster next time post cases that involve igbos and watch the response to your post blossom. May God help their tribalistic lives.

Those are the once that participated in the Armnesty programme. How about the section that did not. Don't mind those on TV - if they say otherwise their salary will cease and will be arrested (like Okah) - everyone is saving his a.s.s.

Also immediate the attack occurred, Mr President "knew" its not MEND - QUESTION - is he a member or patron - He is so sure.
Who told you that there was section that did not disarm? Were you among the ones that dint disarm? Where were those ones before the election period? I thought they would continue kidnapping and bursting pipelines before elections? Abeg go siddon for one corner jo!

MEND is dead. IF those mock militants came out with another name, they would have seemed credible and real. The people that made MEND has killed it. So, what is your point?Time will tell

@ JustCash:
Why blame IBB when nobody know yet. Even your Oga J. You are making exactly the same error President JEGA did. This is where independent voters like us get very sad with you guys - You do not have the interest of the nation at heart when it comes to 1/10 bombing, WHY:

- You see it as a political tool (against opponents - starting with IBB)
- You have pre-determined goal (It is not us - its them attitude)
- You invite Militants to the Villa for Coffee (when they should be the first to be arrested)
- You are very economical with the truth
- You are in a haste to present something (not necessarily comprehensive)

For you info:
- IBB have seen that script before
- Nigerians and the rest of the world are watching

PS: Be patient - it helps.
My friend I gat no time for you and your lack of knowledge about how Nigerian politics works. . Go and study the Nigerian political history, then you will know that it will take people like IBB, and the Northern political mafia to hatch this type of plot just to get GEJ down.
I am not against IBB, like I said before. But his use of excessive innocent blood to play his political game is quite disturbing and condemnable.

We’re Not Behind Blasts, Say Ex-MEND Leaders
From Kunle Akogun in Abuja, 10.05.2010

President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday met with top ex-militants, former commanders and foot soldiers of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) numbering 100, who unanimously dissociated themselves from last Friday’s twin bombings in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

The ex-militants at the meeting included Alhaji Asari Dokubo, Chief Government Ekpomolo (Tompolo), Ebikabowe Victor (Boyloaf), Chief Ateke Tom, Comrade Fara Dagogo, Shoot At Sight, Eberi Papa and Buster Ryme.

Addressing them, Jonathan said while the government regretted the incident and sympathised with the victims of the blasts, “it (the blast) has opened the eyes of government more to see how we can improve security”.

He wondered why anyone would choose the golden jubilee celebrations of the nation’s independence to express his or her misgivings, “assuming some people really feel aggrieved”.

Jonathan, who commended the ex-militants for coming out to tell the world what they stood for, said as one who is also from the Niger Delta, “I have fair knowledge of the oil industry and the evolution of the Niger Delta issues. I want to plead that even though like most programmes it (amnesty programme) might have hitches but I want to assure you that the government is actually committed and by God’s grace most of these hitches will be resolved”.

Ebikabowe (Boyloaf) told the audience, which included Vice-President Namadi Sambo and other top government officials, that the group condemned the act, saying, “MEND is not responsible. We have disarmed. We say to the world, these people claiming they are MEND are impersonating. It is a terrorist act. The people responsible for the act should be dealt with accordingly.”

Tompolo, who was the overall commander of MEND, stated that, “I am the leader of MEND. We are not part of the incident of October 1. MEND is not involved. I am the owner of MEND. We are going to work with you to save this country Nigeria for everyone.”

He said: “Jomo Gbomo does not exist. If the person handling the media sector has a problem and another person takes over so far he has the password of the email he can use the name of Jomo Gbomo and cover up as Jomo Gbomo. So there is nothing as Jomo Gbomo, he does not exist.”

Dokubo said government must not show leniency to those behind the act, describing it as “heinous and condemnable”.
He said: "I want to say that we the people of Niger Delta, be you the Ogoni, Ibo, be you Itsekiri, Urhobo, we have condemned this action. We want the world to know that no power in heaven, on earth or below the earth, is strong enough to resist the power of God. It is the power of God that created this world that established and stabilized it.

“God made it in such a way that this day will be possible, so whoever stands against God is like a man who is standing against a train that is moving and want to stop the train from passing. That person will be crushed by the train. I want to say that we believe that the day the bomb happened was the saddest day in the lives of most if not all of us. I cried when I heard it, because I never expected it to happen and let it not be associated with the people of the Niger Delta.

“We may have different political opinions, but that does not mean that we do not know our root. We are not going to sell our patrimony. We will not do it; we believe that we have all spoken. The President and leader of our organisation, the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) has spoken. The platform on which our organization stands and all other leaders have all spoken in unity and one accord. We represent the people of Niger Delta, our past leaders who have died in the process of this struggle such as Prof. Ken Saro Wiwa and others will be turning in their graves that somebody who claims that he is part of us will do that which we have not done”.

The leader of the delegation and President of IYC, Karomema Mabiye, said: “As it has been clearly stated without equivocation that everybody is in unison, in solidarity and has left their walks of life to come here for one purpose to solidarise with the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and his government and to assure Nigerians that the people of Niger Delta, having come this way, left the creeks and having accepted amnesty are solidly behind this government.

MaziUche0:
Your hatred for IBB is getting the best of you.

Frankly, I do not believe anyone knows who did it.
Oh no, you are wrong. I don't hate IBB. I only don't like the fact that despite his visible lack of political good-will for Nigeria, he is struggling to be in control of the country. Anyway, I care less about who wins because GEJ is only a least political slowpoke when compared to other contestants.
PoliticsIbb Is Behind The Bombing And Gej Was Caught Unawares By The Plot by Justcash(op): 3:10am On Oct 06, 2010
Nigerians are mostly gullible, that is why it is so easy for Nigerian politicians to play games with the destiny of Nigerians. IBB and his Northern cohorts are definitely behind all the saga associated with the indepence day bomb blast in Abuja. It is clear. My reasons are not far-fetched.

Why would GEJ want to use silly threats and very childish means to nail IBB and co, especially when he gat the power to easily rig and turn events to his favor considering the fact that he even has an over whelming support from Nigerians?
Why would MEND, made up of mostly South-Southerners want to disrupt the transition of power to their region, especially as it is the most realistic way they stand to get  a leader that is empathetic to their course?
Why did Henry Orkah not speak in court the first day that he was arraigned, only to dance to Al-jazzeera and sing like a Hot bird?
Why is it Al-jazeera that gat a superior reporting content than CNN and BBC?
How and why did Al-jazeera deem it fit to go and interview the militants some days before the actual bomb attack by the supposed group?
The video of MEND that I saw showed a group that is well organised, with full camouflage wears, which is not typical of Mend.

My point is that, IBB (Maradona) and the Northern mafia are at it again. If they had left it at the level of GEJ pointing fingers at them for the blast, I would have doubted their involvement, because that would have been too cheap a plot to be carried out by IBB and his men. But , when the Henry Orkah's dimension manifested, I became convinced that IBB and his mafia had a hand in the whole incident.
What they are doing is simple.
Form a mock mend group and advertise them with a favorable international mass medium, using a certain Gbomo jomo that sits infront of his laptop to type rubbish for the job. We know that Gbomo jomo fell out with the original mend leaders and group. He was simply the message disperser during the original Mend hostilities, and his medium was most important for this plot, because it will make this particular mock mend to look original.
Exploit the division and greed of Nigerian southerners to carry out attacks, using a favorable international medium to give superior details.
Knowing that the original MEND would go to the president and deny it, create an atmosphere where GEJ would seem like a desperate politician that is against the North by disputing any of his announcements trying to link the bombing to the Northern group and not MEND, after he gets an info from SSS about the involvement of IBB and the mafia.
Put GEJ in bad light and win Sympathy for the Northern politicians to make way for victory in the polls for them.
Orkah was paid to say what he said to the international medium that IBB and co chose, in order to play his own part.

The over-all objective is to ensure that the whole of the North and some southern parts(Mostly Igbo parts in support of zoning as shown by the recent locking out of some Igbo elder statesmen) would help to ensure victory for them by condemning GEJ as a tribalist and ultimately ensuring his defeat.
This is not the first time, neither will it be the last. It is expected because IBB and the Mafia wants to get back power at all cost.
Everything political in Nigeria can never be straight. There is alot of conspiracy going on. You need to be smart to see it!
