BullBearMkt: ...In as much as I understand your frustrations, I don't think your assertions about NSE is completely correct! If you cannot make money on NSE, I can assure you, you will loose x3 investing in US Market. Good thing about US Market is that it's well regulated & anyone found manipulating the market is severely dealt with no matter how highly placed. Americans set the system right, that's why someone like you can take your money there to invest.
It is therefore a clarion call on those managing NSE and Nigerian Economy at large to "sit-right", sit tight and make Nigerian market investors' friendly. Imagine foreign investors are still running away from cheap stocks in Nigeria!
Instead of the burial ground that you see, I see BIG TIME opportunities to make GOOD FORTUNES on NSE. I am not discouraging anyone from participating in US Market, of course, I am a big time trader on NYSE, NASDAQ, RUSSELL2000, S&P500, DOW, just name it; what I am driving at is that if all you see on NSE is burial ground, I can assure you in the next 2 - 5 years, you will see US Market zone as cremation ground as your cash will be evaporated except due diligent is well done!
Thank you. Well said! |

STNWAUME: I'm a US resident and one need a Social Security Number to activate a trading account here but there are online trading platforms which have their offices in Nigeria and allows Nigerians to trade via their apps likes Trove. Chaka. Bamboo and Trading 212 which charges no buy or sell commission though based in United kingdom.
All that is required is a valid international passport and valid bank statement for prove of address..

meine: Mcy, I think that statement is condescending. I also think you should name those always waiting for the blame game, they will probably constitute less than 10% of members in this group.Don't lump everyone here together.
At the end everyone should strive to be masters in investment analysis without waiting for people. That way nobody will be looking up to anyone for stock recommendation. No one on this thread including you, OGG,myself or anyone should see themselves as larger than life such that they can not be criticised in a constructive way. What I detest is shifting blame to people because of a wrong call.
Also, If the thread has lost meaning to anyone they should create a watzapp group and allow us to see road. Somehow the thread will survive. But all these condescending talks are not necessary .
I for one wouldnt touch Neimeth or Upl for investment purpose because they can't match my volume but I won't tackle OGG on such recommendation. If I tackled him, would I have committed a crime ?
If you feel slighted by anyone just state your point, ignore them and move on. When people abuse you it means you are either doing something wrong or right. STNWAUME who made the comment was roundly corrected by everyone, so why coming out to flog the issue again?
It's a faceless forum lets learn to take what people say with a pinch of salt. Well said! |

Jayjaycee18: This issue about the pros and cons of several investment strategies has become too repetitive and over-flogged. Once the point has been made, it is best to let it go and allow fellow forumites to read and digest as they so choose. I think its time to move on and focus on why we are all here and that is "to make money" in the market regardless of whether one is day trading, scalping, trading ETFs, mutual funds, precious metals, long-term, short-term etc.
There is no competition between different investment strategies. No strategy is superior to the other. In fact, while the "oracle of omaha', Warren Buffet got his fingers burnt investing in airlines, that does not reduce his relevance as one of the greatest and most profitable stock investors in the world. Buffet had to sell his stake in American Airlines and invested in Apple where he made a kill. In stock trading, there must be gains, as well as losses. Hence, the aim is to carry out due diligence to ensure that one invests in more winners than laggards, while limiting the losses.
For me, I won't invest in any stock and go to bed, regardless of whether it's Amazon or Apple, because fundamentals could change over time, requiring the investor to take quick decisions. We all can recall how much First Bank, Nigerian Breweries, WAPCO et al were trading between 2005 and 2008, but at this time they are trading far lower. Any investor that refused to move with the times and held First Bank for those number of years without selling and re-entering at a lower price, has unfortunately lost good money which can not be compensated by the meagre dividends. zimams: I think its a personal thing for Justcul. Based on his exit strategy, today may be decision day for him..to sell or hold.
@Justcul abi? if e pass like dis... tell us o.. Lol. not personal bro, just a strategy (Entry, Sell, Hold, or Consolidation). The idea is that, GT has been nocking on this door for freedom, but for some reasons, its been caged below 25.. images below should share more light. i mage 1 is a DAILY chart while the second one is a WEEKLY chart. Breakout is expected when it gets to this point. It might not be today, it might take a little longer though.. A breakout might see it fly to 30 or 32.. slight resistance at 28. I might be wrong so pls dont rely on this analysis to make your investment decisions
