'Ti omode ba n ge igi, agbalagba lo mo bi ti o ma wo si' this is a proverb in yoruba. meaning if a child is cutting a tree, it is the elder that knows in what direction the tree will fall. in the nigerian political landscape, southern politicians are the omode while the northern politicians are the agbalagba.

sometimes i wish there could be a password with witch we can enter into the brains of these people. Someone says i profess Islam and i am the muslim so use islam which is my faith to judge me and my fellow muslims. i dont know how simpler this can be. but no, they will not agree. they remain adamant that it is muslims that they will use to judge islam. and more pathetically, use one small local issue which they do not have a full grasp of the content and circumstance to give a global condemnation of the faith of over a billion people. Gosh

the irony is that while they dont want to listen to you, they want you to listen to them. sometimes i just wonder

If there is any group in Nigeria doing well at what they do, i will say it is the politicians. They have been able to manipulate our minds well and also take control of it. Think about this. In all other areas of our life as a nation, when do we shout its the north, its the south? whenever the issue is political.
Look at how we live our lives as Nigerians. we interact and go about our daily activities without any issues. You will find Nigerians moving and staying in different part of the country. If there had not been peace or safety in these places and if the people there had been hostile, would any body have moved there? The answer is no. so the question is what changed.
I wonder why someone can hate a northerner so much and still put the safety of his life and that of his family in his hands by making him his security guard. How come we are all friends and business partners in Lagos but marginalisation chorus is what you here at Abuja. a Nigerian team wins gold medal and we all celebrate. i can imagine how much the northerners must have hated Okocha and Kanu.

however, make anything political and we are at each others throat. hungry, poor, suffering Nigerians. The politicians are our problem. and we have equally made ourselves tools in their hands.

Listen to Nigerians in any part of the country. the lamentation is the same, nothing works. but what have we been conditioned to always do? blame others for our woes.

We know that the bane of our development is corruption, does that have a northern or southern identity? if indeed we want such referendum, are the terms going to be negotiated by these criminals we call leaders?

what we need is to start a change, a change in the way we see ourselves. a change in the perspective, a change in our leadership, a change in believe that Nigeria can not work, No! Nigeria can work.

start from your micro community, participate, be a part of the movement for change. join a political party. we must play our role

Politics / Re: Fuel Scarcity Gone For Good - Nnpc (talking In Its Sleep?) by justdtruth: 10:46am On Jan 07, 2011
i can not believe that anybody can suggest that Nigeria should not have a refinery. and really i wonder if people only associate refinery with only petrol. a refine is a petrochemical plant. the list below shows the products you can have from refining petroleum

Fuels
•Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG)
•Ethane and other short-chain alkanes
•Gasoline (Petrol)
•Diesel fuel (petrodiesel)
•Kerosene
•Jet fuel
•Fuel oils

Other derivatives
•Alkenes (olefins) which can be manufactured into plastics or other compounds
•Lubricants (produces light machine oils, motor oils, and greases, adding viscosity stabilizers as required).
•Wax, used in the packaging of frozen foods, among others.
•Sulfur or Sulfuric acid. These are a useful industrial materials. Sulfuric acid is usually prepared as the acid precursor oleum, a byproduct of sulfur removal from fuels.
•Bulk tar.
•Asphalt
•Petroleum coke, used in speciality carbon products or as solid fuel.
•Paraffin wax
•Aromatic petrochemicals to be used as precursors in other chemical production.

imagine the number of industries you can have from this sector alone not to mention the concomitant benefit of easy source of materials for other industries and the rduction of prices of the products that are consumed directly.

you want to be a leading economy by 2020. build refinaries as fast and as much as you could. where do you guys think the simplest moulding material, plastic comes from. imagine a country that wants to a be a leading economy without a functional steel industry.

i laugh realising that people actually believe these lies of no more fuel scarcity. infact, i think apart from english and mathematics, economics must equaly be compulsory even in tertiary institutions. this i assume is necessary for our great country to attain the lofty height we desire.

if all the factors involved in the production, distribution and delivery of a product to the consumer remain within variable and unpredicatable ranges like we have now. then scarcity is not yet a thing of the past.

dont forget that the subsidy on petrol is going to be removed sooner or later, so prices are still going to hit the roof particularly with the price of crude almost at a N100 per barrel at present. the industry of course is still within the hands of a cabal i.e there is monopoly at every stage of the industry. and they are very ready to protect their interest with their oily resources.

abeg, nothing has changed

we can keep talking and the number of pages on this thread will continue to increase. what we need is a way out of this mess. and like in a branstorming section, all ideas are appreciated. some of us have given suggestions on what we can do and i think that is what we need. sometimes, when issues like this come up, we tend to believe that someone who disagrees with our position is against us. i think they are not. they only perhaps believe that you not completely correct and its always good to have opposing views, it helps to strengthen whatever we finally decide to do cos all angles would have been looked at. kobojunkie made a point on looking for solutions that have not been used cos a number of such solutions that rely on this present system has failed. sometimes what we might need is to modify such ideas.

if we want any thing achieved, we must start we the suggestion of kilode. and yes there are many people out there who want Nigeria to work. we just seem to be lost in all these confusion. places like India and Indonesia have something we can borrow from. things do not have to be perfect, but we should be able to get some things right. the way to start is to understand the features of these communities and the factors that have been at play. one of such factors is awareness.

we should not expect that the set of people in govt now will deliver what we want. we should start a process that will bring about a credible system that will eventually produce a credible leadership. its not going to happen next year and its not only relevant during election period. it a process that must continue until we have what we want.

it is important that we find a way come together to further galvanise our ideas but i must express my concern on what i have seen happening and that is the hijacking of such process by the very people we want to get rid of. whatever the case, we must start something

pls give your suggestions on what we can do, what you are doing and lets start the rebuilding of our nation

When those who should know are busy covering up the crimes of these companies as ''normal practice'', rather than telling the people what is going on and how ''our leaders'' are in collaboration with foreign exploiters like Shell, how will they know?

and sometimes all we simply say is corruption, corruption and corruption

well, i must say thank you to everybody. i see us all thinking about Nigeria and Nigeria alone. this doesn't happen often. principally this is what the groups code named: power lords always want to achieve is a perpetual state of division and selfishness which provides a means for them to perpetually entrench their hegemony. they abound everywhere and are represented by various platforms e.g governments, multinationals, NGO, corporations, individuals, parties etc. who they are really wouldn't matter but what they seek to achieve is the issue.

Project Nigeria
keep the people in a perpetual state of ignorance and you will continue to be able to tap their resources. a very simple reason why no community with a resources is ever allowed to develop educationally. the Niger delta as a case study

keep the people disunited and they will be too busy fighting themselves to ever collaborate for development. divide and rule is a strategy that always works

poverty is a potent tool to keep the will to fight for freedom at bay. when they are struggling to sustain their families they wouldn't have the time to strategies for a change

manipulate their leaders and intimidate the followers. the followers would never trust the leaders and can not usurp power because death awaits the perpetrators

strengthen ethnic and tribal ideologies and every body will only fight for his own. even if your brother is the bad man, he would still be seen to be better than any other from other group

widen the gap between the rich and the poor, let them detest one another and you have disconnected the machinery for any change. the human resources and the material resources

ensure their children are ignorant about the history and dissociated from the future. let them have an education that is devoid of anything about their nation. ever wondered why citizenship education was removed from the curriculum?

if you are wondering how this works, i encourage you to attend any business strategy class or meeting. we all do these things in our own way. the difference is that we do not have the intention to keep our people in slavery but have a profitable business

keeping you has a slave is thier business

now, what can we do?

Islam for Muslims / Re: Our Understanding Of Islam by justdtruth: 5:15pm On Nov 02, 2010
About Islam being a belief.
Its not just about believing in the articles of faith as we know it, it is also believing that Allah created everything, what we can see and what we can not see. Part of that belief holds for the jinns particularly, shaytan.
It holds for the prophesies that have been related from the Prophet (SAW) and for things that Allah has not explained their exact nature. So a Muslim does not worry about how Allah looks, His hands, His face etc. We hear and we obey. Allah says he has hands so we believe. The nature of the hands should not bother us.

Islam as an ideology

Our understanding of Islam as an ideology is not just important but also fundamental. The ideology that Islam represents is reason for the opposition by the quraish of Mecca at the beginning of the messengership of the prophet (SAW). They understand that Islam strikes at the very foundation that holds their society. As an ideology, it has its own principle, methods, philosophy, style etc so it holds no apology to anybody or group about its position on any issues.
Islam provides its own system of economics, legal system, political system, social system, etc

Its like an operating system that has installed drivers for all your hardware, so no need for an installation CD. Its has antivirus that removes all virus, malware, spam, cookies etc and of course before installation it will check your system for compatibility and configuration otherwise; the hard drive will have to be formatted.
Religion / Re: The Superiority Of The Jesus Christ Over Prophet Mohammed by justdtruth: 3:37pm On Nov 02, 2010
this is one of those things that I find amusing about some Christians.
first, they will tell you they do not believe in Muhammad (SAW) and also push the status of Jesus (AS) to that of God then come around to do what this thread is about.

i wonder, do you now believe in Muhammad (SAW) and only want to establish that your Jesus (AS) is superior?

again, did you just demote Jesus (AS) from the upgraded status of God that you have given him to that of man like Muhammad to be able to have a bases for comparison.

well i guess since there is no guidance on how the prophets of God should be respected in your faith except for only your pastors i presume (touch not my anointed), i present to you the position of Muslims on the issue

The Apostle believes in what hath been revealed to him from his Lord as do the men of faith. Each one (of them) believes in Allah His angels His
books and His Apostles "We make no distinction between one and another of His Apostles." And they say: "We hear and we obey; (We
seek) Thy forgiveness Our Lord and to Thee is the end of all journeys." (Quran 2:285)
Islam for Muslims / Re: Our Understanding Of Islam by justdtruth: 2:10pm On Nov 02, 2010
Islam is a belief

A belief in Allah, His messengers, His books, His angels, His paradise, His hell.

Islam is an ideology
It is a system with its own philosophy, ideals, methods, principles and pathway

Islam is about worship
It offers the adoration and veneration of the creator. The prayers, the fast, the rituals, the sacrifice etc

Islam is a brotherhood
Its about the love, the bond, the friendship, the union

Islam is a nation
A nation with borders and without borders
I guess I will have to explain further on this

Islam is morality
Honesty, modesty, ethics, decency etc are the hallmarks

Islam is a civilization
It seeks to educate, emancipate, enlighten, liberate, stimulate, organise, develop

Islam is power
It strengthens, influences, controls, guides,

While we go on, it will be important to elaborate more on some of the listed explanations
Islam for Muslims / Re: Our Understanding Of Islam by justdtruth: 1:32pm On Nov 02, 2010
Let’s start with the definition- Islam is a religion of peace
I am wondering, who proposed this definition or call it sentence or statement?
Is there a religion of violence? That means this definition must have been used to defend Islam rather than explain what it is.

Another popular definition is that Islam is a way of life
This is more like a starting point

Something to note please: our understanding of Islam by way of the definition or the explanation we give should explain what Islam is rather than defend it.
Islam for Muslims / Our Understanding Of Islam by justdtruth: 12:42pm On Nov 02, 2010
I have had the opportunity of discussing with brothers and sisters and I have discovered a very disturbing phenomenon. I see this to be a key error and the foundation of some of our challenges today. If our babas and mamas got it wrong, then we shouldn’t. This phenomenon is evident from the answers we give to questions particularly, questions from non-muslims. The issue is our understanding of what Islam is

These are some of the errors

1. believing that Islam started with prophet Muhammad
2. measure Islamic ideals with the parameters of baseless ideologies
3. identify ‘Arab culture, as the culture of Islam
4. perceive Islam with the sense of a religion like Christianity, idolatry, etc
5. its just about rituals and laws
6. when someone is knowledgeable in the deen, they become saints
7. nothing is important in this world, its just about the hereafter
8. it’s a personal affair, just do your own and that is okay
9. its provides an opportunity to make some earnings
10. faith is like a switch, you can put it on or off
11. there is no compulsion so let any body do whatever is desired

And you can go on and on.
It will be important that we seek to know Islam as it is and not as we might want it to be.
So let’s start the education
What should be the correct understanding of what Islam is?

Politics / Re: Why Should The North Dominate This Country? by justdtruth: 3:49pm On Oct 25, 2010
The statement below only tries to let you know how your politicians have been playing the game and why the results have always remained the same.

For the leaders of Southern Nigeria and, in particular, the two dominant tribes, the Igbo and Yoruba, it represented an opportunity once more to make a move for the presidency, and shift power (whatever that means) away from the North which has come to be portrayed as the source of all the problems of the nation. The desire to win over power is the natural goal of political activists. The use of propaganda, blackmail, lies, bribery, deception, even threats of secession has been the hallmark of many an astute political strategy aimed at attaining set goals. Yet the choice of which method is appropriate to a specific polity in a specific historical context is a difficult one, requiring a high sense of perception, a knowledge of history, a natural intelligence and political sophistication. In choosing the path of black-mail and ethnocentric diatribe, the leaders of the South have once more displayed to the world their political naivete, and set the stage for another defeat that may see them remaining in opposition for the next four years.
One marvels at the never-ending cycle which sees Southern Politicians play into the hands of their northern counterparts.

This guy drives home the desire of an average Nigerian and a true Nigerian. If you have a ‘different opinion’, then you must belong to that group of those who have kept us where we are today.

A democratic system is primarily about Institutions and the rule of law. It is not about individuals. We need a system, based on laws and a constitution agreed upon by all, that guarantees each and every Nigerian wherever he is from the right to full political participation and unfettered expression. A system that protects each and every one of us from the tyranny of an individual. A system in which our dignity and liberty are not protected only when the president comes from our own part of the country.

How I wish a lot of Nigerians particularly Nlanders will see every issue from this perspective. Then, what a wonderful forum would we have and infact it might evolve to a proper ‘paliament’.

Abacha was a corrupt, ruthless dictator – period. Where he was from is immaterial. All Nigerians, Northerners and Southerners, Muslim and Christians, suffered from the corruption and injustices of his regime with the exception of a small band of family members, sycophants and traitors who joined him in looting the coffers of our nation. Those who stood against his tyranny and spoke out for freedom and equity suffered: among them Obasanjo, Yar Adua, Abiola, Rimi, Ige, Lamido, Nwakwo and Ken Sarowiwa. A cursory look at the list of those detained, framed, murdered, lied against, pauperized and otherwise abused in the last five years will prove to honest persons that Abacha was no respecter of region or religion and that he represented the least form of humanity degenerating dangerously close to bestiality, which is why, like Pharaoh, he is remembered today for his evil rather than his good, for no good of his can obviate the memory, etched in the individual and collective consciousness of Nigerians, of what it is like to live in an environment of terror, not knowing who next will be struck with impunity.

This unfortunately is what is happening again. i imagine what will happen after a maximum 8 years rule of jonathan. Will power then go back to the north? A people with no direction can only keep taking the same path that leads to nowhere

In pretending that these are not the issues, in teaching their followers to oppose Abacha not for his corruption, greed and cruelty but for his ethnic origins, in portraying the annulment of the June, 1993 election as an act against the Yoruba, in pretending that Abiola’s death in prison was in some way different from ‘Yar Adua’s death in prison, in claiming that the solution to this country’s predicament lies in changing the ethnicity of the president and producing a “Southern” President: in all this, the political leaders of the South have displayed the highest degree of naivete, the lowest sense of responsibility and the crudest application of their intellectual faculties. Worse than all this, they have played straight into the hands of their political rivals, the Northern Politicians.
Politics / Re: Jonathan Rules Out Sovereign National Conference by justdtruth: 10:14am On Oct 21, 2010
I have been impressed by the tempo of this discussion so far. It seems there are actually very few people who understand the structural challenges of this country.
My concern is not whether we should have a SNC now or later or not have it all but rather if GEJ truly believes in the need for structural changes in this country and not playing the politics of convenience.

Again the manner with which he ruled out the SNC is like hitting the civil society organisations and other democracy advocacy group below the belt. This has been the agitation of these groups and of course they championed the process that brought him into power. I only imagined what they will think of him now.

Another concern is the fact that we can expect more of this in the days ahead and that begs a question, what more are we going to hear from our president?

What exactly are the motives for statements like this? Garner more votes for the presidential primaries and the elections proper or disclose fundamental believes and political ideology
Politics / Jonathan Rules Out Sovereign National Conference by justdtruth: 9:54am On Oct 20, 2010
President Goodluck Jonathan has rejected calls for the convocation of a Sovereign National Conference.

This is contrary to the calls by some groups and individuals that an SNC will give ethnic nationalities the opportunity to choose how to relate or associate with one another.

Jonathan, who spoke at the Dialogue with the President at the 16th Nigerian Economic Summit in Abuja on Tuesday, said the nation had gone beyond the call for the SNC and should be concerned about how to build a prosperous country.

The President also blamed kidnapping on government’s failure to address the problem when it was evolving.

He also stated that corruption was prevalent in the private sector as it had been in the public sector, adding that what should be done to check the menace was to strengthen law enforcement agencies.

According to the President, the constitution has already prescribed how the fundamental law can be changed; adding that any attempt to change the law by any other method would be an illegality.

The President said, “We have the 1999 Constitution which clearly prescribes how the constitution can be changed. We have the National Assembly that makes laws for the nation.

“Sometimes we get carried away by some jargons. It is not the number of conferences that we hold that can solve our problems. The countries that we cite as examples in development, it is not conference that solved their problems.

“We have gone beyond asking how ethnic groups can live together. We will not allow history to hold us down. It was in 1914 that the Southern and Northern Protectorates were amalgamated. In four years now, we shall be celebrating 100 years of our existence as a nation. So we have gone beyond the agitation for Sovereign National Conference.”

I have learnt something particularly about Nigerians, and believe me, that is the bane of our nation.
Typical Nigerians
Whatever we like, must be good and whatever we do not like, must be bad
Our opinion is the right one and any one that is in the contrary must be wrong
Our close associates are always correct while strangers would always have to be wrong
There is always a tribal divide – my tribe is the best while others are bad
Along social status – a rich man can not be right to a poor man and vice versa
And not to forget the gender issues – men support men while women support women
And not forgetting the split between the old and the new school – all those babas don’t know anything
I know the list is not complete if I have not mentioned the religious divide – we never do bad, we never go wrong
We also do it to God, if I am prosperous, then God loves me and if otherwise? Then maybe he hasn’t received the message
We just always want to have any argument in our favour
One wonders why we can not always treat issues based on the MERITS, the FACTS, the FIGURES, the EVIDENCES and the VERIFICATIONS

We would all shout against jungle justice but justify it if we want the victim buried
Common guys, we should rise above this and insist that justice must be done at all times.
For us to have progress, there must be peace, for us to have peace, there must be justice, for us to have justice, there must be equity

I believe this is not too much to ask

there is a popular saying in yoruba land

'ija lode ti orin fi di owe'

meaning: when there is a fight, songs become 'proverbs' (i.e it is perceived as a means to insult the other party).

and that is what the zoning song has become

i have always advocated that we should all join political parties or have political parties members as associates or pay active attention to political parties activities and not just read newspapers to become political analyst.

the zoning issue has always been with us. local government elections, house of assemblies elections and governorship elections.
and pls, dont get something wrong. zoning is not just a pdp affair. just like the federal character issue which i think is just another grammar for zoning, it is evident in all the political parties.

and you know the first argument for this at party meetings, this is the only way we can maintain equity, fairness and justice. and to be frank, if you consider the psyche of nigerians now, i am sorry to say that it is not far from the truth.

because the candidates that emerge from these arrangements sometimes are already popular or have a level of acceptance from the people, then it seems there are no issues.

it would be deceitful for any body to say there is no zoning.

the argument of GEJ is like another saying of the yorubas

'ti won ba fun were loko, o do ara re ni yi i o koko ro si'

if you give a mad man a hoe, he would  turn the soil toward himself
Politics / Re: Suspected Boko Haram Militants Strike Again by justdtruth: 11:53am On Sep 24, 2010
NLders are quite very hard to understand. When a crime is committed such as murder and the police come up with a statement, we accuse them of jumping to conclusions when they have not carried out any investigation. Sometimes we even disagree with the results of their investigations particularly when we feel the result is not satisfactory enough like in the case of high profile killings that are termed as robbery incidents gone bad.

Lately, criminal activities in the north can only be committed by one group, ‘boko haram’. This time we don’t question that judgment but simply accept it as gospel truth and I wonder why?

I am just wondering why two boko haram guys will want to kill a local chief when what we have been made to belief is that they are against western education.

Attitude like this is what the police and our government have come to understand about us and they have continuously utilised this to cover up a lot of their dirty works. Guys, lets wake up and ask the rights questions. Let us always insist that we want the truth even if we know they will want to hide it.

The human mind I want to believe works better than the computer. It has the capability to process information and make deductions from such information. The computer is simply garbage in garbage out. An improvement is the ‘Artificial Intelligence capabilities being designed.
I know a lot of NL are young guys and ladies with intuitive mind and broaden intellectual horizon.
We make lots of fun on several subjects but I think the Nigerian question should not be taken for a show of comedy or just a popular jingle on Sesame Street. This is our country and we have got issues.
It is rather unfortunate that we have continuously allowed ourselves to be fooled and played by the politicians of this country. We simply sing and dance to their drums of rhetorical hypocrisy. We clad ourselves in agbada and babariga, looking our best to grace their celebrations of mediocrity and callousness. Popular artist at their events are tribalism, ethnicity, religion, marginalisation, to mention a few and not forgetting the upcoming superstar, zoning.

Please, if we do not have a choice but to look at Nigeria through the eyes these criminal fools, let us rather see with the spectacle of reasoning.

I have always wondered, what do we want in this country? Good roads, electricity, security, qualitative education, buoyant economy, affordable housing, adequate water supply, etc. simply put - a country that works.

This is the desire of a Nigerian, mind you not the politicians. Wherever we may be. On the market streets of Lagos Island or the rocks of Abeokuta. The coal mines of Enugu or the oil rich swamp of the delta. Riding a horse on the street on Kano or fishing in the Argungun River. Guiding a herd of cattle on the plains of Minna or calling out to customers in the market of Onisha.

What can be an irony is the fact the desires of our politicians are not different. I want to believe we all know what these desires are. A particular selling point of these politicians is the fact that they all have the same principles and that is why they can move from one party to the other. Form a party today and scatter it tomorrow. That is why is no region of this country have benefited from any of them

No, the north should not secede, OUR POLITICIANS SHOULD SECEDE

Politics / And Jonathan Declares For Presidency On Facebook by justdtruth: 3:00pm On Sep 15, 2010
Dear compatriots, four months ago, providence placed me at the leadership of our dear country, following the untimely death of our dear former President, my brother and leader, President Umaru Musa Yar’adua. It was a very solemn and trying moment for me personally and for the country as a whole. My immediate task and priority was and still remains to give the nation purposeful leadership and to focus on the priorities of our administration in order to maintain national peace and stability and pursue our key development priorities. In these few months as leader of the country, I have concentrated on managing the affairs of the nation, and resisted all efforts to respond to the drums of partisan politics which have been sounding very loud across the land. As President and leader of government, I decided not to place partisan politics above the immediate needs and priorities of our people. I came under intense pressure to make a declaration concerning my political future, but declined to do so because that would have immediately distracted us from all the development initiatives we have accomplished so far. I therefore told Nigerians to give me time to concentrate on my work and that at the appropriate time I would make a public statement on my political future after due consultations with all the segments and leaders of our nation.
Today, I confirm that after wide and thorough consultations spanning the six geo-political zones that make up Nigeria, with members of my family, my party, the opposition, civil society, the Private Sector, members of the Labour Unions, religious leaders, youths and student groups and our revered traditional institutions, I Goodluck Ebele Jonathan by the grace of God hereby offer myself and my services to the Nigerian people as a candidate for the office of President in the forth coming 2011 elections. In presenting myself for service, I make no pretense that I have a magic wand that will solve all of Nigeria’s problems or that I am the most intelligent Nigerian. Far from it. What I do promise is this – If I am elected President in 2011, I will make a covenant with you the Nigerian people to always do right by you, to tell you the truth at all times, to carry you along and most importantly to listen to you, fellow citizens in our communities and also those of you on this page. I do not want to win your affections by giving you promises of things I would do in the future which others before me have given and which have largely been unfulfilled. Rather, I would want you to judge me by my records. Since God Almighty and yourselves permitted me to serve you in the present capacity, I have busied myself with setting Nigeria on the path of peace and progress.
My team and I made no promises on adequate fuel supply in Nigeria. We simply did what was expected of those who govern, we delivered it, and you are living witnesses to that. We made no promise to revamp the textile industry. We delivered a bailout package worth 150 billion naira that is being dispensed as I write. We made no promises of securing the highest U.S Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) aviation clearance, the Category 1 Certificate which enables Nigerian registered airlines to fly to ANY U.S city. We delivered. We made no promise to give Nigeria a brand new INEC under a proven God-fearing and incorruptible leader. We placed Nigeria first and delivered. We made no promises of protecting your loans, deposits and investments in the banking industry over and beyond what is covered under the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Scheme. We delivered it via AMCON. Rather than tell you what we could do to improve power, this administration demonstrated it by initiating a brand new national Super Grid as well as launching a concrete Road Map to the Power Sector with realistic goals tied to realistic dates. I understand from some of your mails that there has been some small improvements in electricity supply in some communities. We met an economy that was beginning to slow due to the global recession. Today, the economy has verifiably grown by 7% this half year ending in June.
I know you are tired of empty promises, so I will make only one promise to you today. The only promise I make to you my friends, fellow citizens and Nigeria, is to promise LESS and deliver MORE if I am elected. I call on you to join me to work together in harmony and synergy to forge a nation where we understand our differences instead of pretending they do not exist and work towards a perfect union founded on transparency, equity and justice. A nation that is on her way to repairing her International reputation and project to the world that things have changed and the people of Nigeria have now taken Nigeria back from a few into the hands of her people who are eager, very eager to pull her weight in the forward movement of the African continent and the world in the pursuit of peace, prosperity and happiness.
I will by the special grace of God be making a formal declaration to this effect at the Eagle’s Square, Abuja, on Saturday 18 September 2010.
I call on you my friends on this page and all Nigerians to give me your support and prayers so that together we can liberate our country from the confines and self –inflicted wounds and limitations of the past. My dear friends and fellow citizens, to borrow an often used slogan by our youths, please join me in proclaiming: Forward Ever, Backward Never! Please let us all unite across tongue and creed to move our long suffering nation forward together. I thank you and may God bless our country Nigeria. GEJ

Pls pass this information to any business man or woman that you know. Fraudsters will always find means of making something beneficial become a means to defraud people. Always confirm that cash is actually in your account when you receive a text message confirming deposit into your account.
Some banks like GTB have phone numbers you can call to confirm your balance. Don't lose your hard earned morning to some criminals

its also important to understand how projects works. during my youth service, we deliberated on some projects and we realised how challenging some of these things can be. an example. a local community wants to have a school and we could easily get this done, in fact, a corper organised the students in the community to build some classrooms using local materials. we realised that building the school is not really the challenge but getting the personnel that will run the school. there are science students, commercial students and art student in the senior category who require different teachers to handle different subjects. the junior category is another ball game. end point, there could be a school but no schooling, there will be medical centers but no treatment.
i will advocate that we have human capacity development that can build structures. the big challenge to my suggestion is leadership. it is just absent. it seems that those who see themselves as leaders in these areas want the people to remain the way they are so that they can feed fat on the people. every step you decide to take to do something, you find them there.
my educated and well informed brothers and sisters from the delta dont want to do anything as well. it seems its just about taking care of yourself and that ends it.
our destiny is in our hands

i think the bottom line to problems(es) of Nigeria is knowlegde wether in terms of correct exposure, right information, good education, indepth understanding, proper perspective, name it. pls, it is not about going to school cos we have a number of educated people who do not understand a thing about some of our issues.
manifestation of these can be seen from the way we ask questions, the people we ask the questions, the way we fight for a cause, the way we argue our points, the way we defend our opinions, the way we protect our the guilty, the way we shout when we should be quiet qnd the way we keep quite when we should scream and a lot more other things.
if any body wants to do a research on bandwagon effect, i am sure nigeria provides a lot of case studies. its just pathetic. but unlike many i believe that we can be better and we shall be better.
my line of argument follows that of texazzpete and others. we need not be sentimental or just passionate that somebody or some people are fighting the government. we rather need to ask the right questions and tackle the right people. provision of amenities and other social services is the responsibility of the government of all levels. we seem to to think projects are only going on in the niger delta. whta happens if every community decides to do what is done in the niger delta?
