Did u not notice the unexpected and somewhat surprising style of play United put up last season. . .?? Twas because it was nobody's job to score. Even though Rooney (for the latter part of the season), was the point man, the goal scoring job was everybody's. When the job of scoring goals is given to one man, what happens on his off day?? You now start drawing up alternatives. . .

Praises to Ruud for his service to United, because he's the only one IMO who does the job and delivers. .
If United wants a poacher, better be Ruud or nobody else. Nobody can do it better than him. . .not even Inzaghi or Hunterlaar. .

But why not go for a striker who can create an opportunity on his own and score than a striker who just waits around the box to finish off leftovers??
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by justkunmi(op): 3:02am On Jul 09, 2007
You've said it all. No disrespect to Ruud, but he made United's game very predictable. I remembered a particular day I missed a United game. A friend later told me the match ended 3-1. . .The first question I asked was, "WHO ELSE SCORED APART FROM RUUD" because I already knew he was going to score.

But immediately Ruud left, United's number of goals rose sharply and the goals were distributed evenly. Everybody had a share of the goals. . .Even Vidic and Ferdinand scored. Only Gary Neville did not score. . .

Donzman:
Huntelaar might turn out being the the next RVN,
exactly my point and my fear!,  .
Hunterlaar, like RVN is a poacher. . and from the post i made some days ago to Jackal, I stated exactly how United depended on RVN, the poacher for goals, and this affected our play because a day off for Ruud means a day off for United. But a player that can initiate a move on his own and finish off is what United needs.

And as with the issue with the similarities with Rooney; It can be curbed. . .

This Tevez issue is gettin outta hand.

All the papers yesterday reported he has agreed a two year loan deal with United. . .with a possibility of a permanent move after the 2 years. .
Today these same papers are reporting that West Ham and the Premier League would not allow the move, . .cos Tevez is still a West Ham player until 2010. . .something that has to do with the contract that brought him to the EPL.

Why so much controversy about this Tevez guy. still cant place my hands on the details about his coup move from Corinthians to West Ham. . .

If Tevez would drag like Hargreaves, we had better look elsewhere. . .

Does anyone know if Lucas Podolski is available. . Wouldn't be bad to see him play for United. He is definitely one of my fav strikers. . .

@Jackal

Are you then sayin if we dont get Hunterlaar, we are doomed?

Like i said before, I also share your views about the similarities. But I also want to try to see wat Fergie is seeing concerning Tevez. He's been right on so many issues people, including me and you, have criticized him on. He obviously would av noticed the similarities too, dont you think?

For all you know, Smith mite stay and Rooney and Tevez mite not play together. . . And for all you know, they mite.

Well, Fergie knows.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by justkunmi(op): 8:13pm On Jul 05, 2007
@Jackal
Gettin an out and out striker, that i understand. But gettin a Ruud replacement, that i don't feel comfortable with.
I am not sayin that Ruud's time at United wasn't good,but united relied on him so much for goals, And our goal pattern was very predictable. An off day for Ruud meant an off day for united. Immediately he left, we scored so many goals more than we ever did in his time and the goals were spread among all team members, This created more excitement and that element of surprise. Gettin Hunterlaar mite mean going back to the Ruud era ( Dont misquote me. I aint saying Ruud or Hunterlaar are bad )

Like I said before, Tevez can be tamed. He can be a box player and can also create goals out of nothing. . . (am not speakin for Fergie. . .jus my mind.)

To me, I Woulda prefered Rossi stayed. . . or is he staying?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by justkunmi(op): 5:32pm On Jul 05, 2007
@Jackal n Rikkyjen

I also share your view about the similarity between Rooney and Tevez, but as we all know, Tevez is proven and he is already familiar with the English kind of game, Moreso, he can be tamed. He can reduce his rugged kind of play and let rooney do all that,
Hunterlaar woulda been better but i think Fergie has proven that he knows what he is doing.
Lets just keep our fingers crossed and see the whole drama unfold

Ronaldo himself came up wit d idea of the hair wager so he knows that is hair is on the line,
But as much as this bet would make him wanna score lotta goals, it can also make him very selfish. . . especially if he is not gettin the goals. . .

I know I wanted United to sign Torres sometime ago, but when Liverpool broke their transfer record to sign him for that huge amount I had to do some searching about Fernando Torres and after my findings, I just have to ask this. . .

How Good Is Fernando Torres Anyway?

I'm not an avid follower of the Spanish league so my question is a genuine one. He has no Champions League experience. He has never really excelled at a major tournament for Spain. He hasn't even been top scorer in the Spanish league. In fact he has never managed more than 20 league goals in a season. Is this because since he has been at Atletico they have simply been pants? Even his international record isn't great. 40 caps, 14 goals. Compared that to David Villa who has 23 caps and 16 goals.

So u mite wonder why Benitez and Ferge were hell bent on signing him . .

Well, he's in the EPL now. . .i guess we'll see for ourselves. .

Berbatov??

Carlos Tevez would fit better or Klass Hunterlaar. . . .

But as much as we need a striker, we should also look for a defender. Remember what happened last season when Neville, Vidic and Ferdinand got injured all at once. . . .
We mite not get lucky next time

Cristiano Ronaldo has come up with another wacky goals bet with Ferguson.

He told Fergie, I'll shave my hair off if I don't score 20 Premier League goals – you shave your hair off if I do.

Last season he won a £400 bet with Fergie when he netted 17 times, beating his 15-goal target.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by justkunmi(m): 5:57pm On Jul 02, 2007
almost all strikers score one on one situations. So scoring close range goals shouldn't be celebrated.
Can he initiate a goal on his own? Can he scare defenders and create chances for others,. . .
I guess we'll see all that when the season starts. . .

But my point is that I hope Wenger didnt panic buy this guy. . .
I hope he didn't just gamble and hope he gels with Arsenal's kinda play. . .cos playin in the EPL is a whole nu ball game. . .compared to where he is coming from . . .
