That's the easiest way to come to America.
There are no immigration at the Mexican border
.
People from Guatemala, El Salvador, Mexico,Ecuador and other South Americans do come to the USA through the deserts, It is easier to cross over to the USA from Mexico than crossing from Nigeria to Ghana
Joke of the day?

Good afternoon
I have been very impressed by some of the contributions made to some of the questions here on this forum so I am hoping that you could help me with my question.

Our first FLR (M) is due to be submitted at the end of new week.

However I have a question with what meets the specified amount.

We need to achieve the £18,600 requirement but unfortunately I lost my job about six weeks ago.
Up to that point I was earning £40,000 per annum and would normally applied using Category A.
However, since I am no longer employed I will have to apply using Category B.

If you look at section 5.2 of the document below it refers to salaried employment at the point of the application which in my case is zero.

However I have achieved 5/6 of the last six months (£16,666) and 6/6 of the previous six months (£20,000) which basically means I have earned £36,666 in the last twelve months.

The example (c) in section 5.2 applies to somebody who is self employed but meets the requirements.

https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/469692/Appendix_FM_1_7_Financial_Requirement_August_2015.pdf#page16

I am at the moment interviewing for jobs at a similar salary but it may be that an offer of employment has not been before the submission deadline.

My wife works full time and earns around £12,000 per annum (hourly paid).
Should this be added to the application under Category B too?

From the information that I have supplied via the link and my situation do you think that the requirements for Category B will be made as there is nothing to cover my circumstances for short term unemployment for relatively high earning salaried employees when making an application?

Many thanks and hoping for a quick reply.

Steve
1. You mean your works here in the UK?

2. Do you have that £36000 in savings?

My own $5 contribution . Go with just wise advice . Call the IRS theft hotline . And tell them your child SSN came without envelops and you will like to guide against fraudulent activities . That you will like to either get a pin for it or change it . And if your Inlaw gets to know , you will tell him that because it came without envelops so you just thought you should safeguard it and that you called cus you didn't want to disturb him or his wife with your problem , say this with all innocence.Because he's your inlaw and when they are deciding your case you won't be there to defend yourself and this will not go down well with the whole family .
That is a good idea.

I don't think he has used it yet ( I heard a child needs to be 6months , I stand to be corrected) hence she can just report the state at which she received the mail. And ask if she can protect it againSt being used fraudulently.

Well said @ye2ndearisto.
I hope that is the case.

No. Not in the US. Our tax filing season starts in mid January and ends mid Alril. This year's has been on from January 19 and it ends in April 15. So if he wants to use it, he might have used it already and that's just too sad.

That said, there is no excusing what he did. Even if he did not use the SSN to claim credits, what he did was absolutely wrong. Social Security Administration is always boldly written on the envelope that brings the card in the mail, so he cannot tell her that he didn't know that it contains the baby's SSN. Then he still went ahead and hid the entire card from her after opening and probably copying the number. Arghhh. How criminal can that be?

He didn't think about the criminal implications of that before opening the documents and even hiding it from her? You know what SSN issues can cause someone in America? You gotta experience it before you feel the full weight of it. I still stand by what I said. Call the IRS identity theft hotline. Tell them the envelope was delivered open. No need to mention the person that opened it. Let them put a marker on that SSN and possibly give you a PIN. If he has filed with the SSN this year, fine. Next year if he tries it, his whole refund will be held and he will be told to verify identity with the PIN you were given and since he doesn't know it, that's when the issue will start. If he can't produce it, his whole refund will be held and might prompt an audit and even an investigation. Some Nigerians here are just appalling and I've heard stories of hosts doing that to people. What will the 2K or less claimed from child credit do for you? What? Nonsense!!!
Ok.

She needs to find out first if he has used it and a way to block it.

I still maintain my point against reporting him to the authority and possibly getting a criminal record because family is involved here

My exact sentiments
You can't throw away a bath water and the baby together

From readin lot of comments a lot of people don't understand how this tax thing works. How many time in a year are taxes filed? Taxes are not filed everyday!!!! Didn't this stuff just happen... I mean she is still in the USA so I don't think the Ssn came more than two weeks ago

I sincerely doubt he has used it. He definitely has the intention to, so confront him and establish your displeasure. Give him the chance to do the right thing

Threading carefully does not mean you are not putting your LO first

My two cents
Tax is filled after financial year which is from April 5th so i don't think he has used it yet

@vcole God bless you for that solution.

@justwise if she confronts him to resolve it amicably, whether he agrees that he used it or not the reality is that to be certain and safe she will still have to find out from IRS and SSN if her son's SSN is being used and how to block its use by anyone. Such a man's word can't be trusted! A Man who can be so devious as to hide the SSN from her lying it hadn't arrived can do even worse criminal activities. I can understand opening the SSN envelope to spy the number but then hiding the mail altogether? That's a relative that can smile while killing the person quietly. She doesn't have to mention who gave her or the circumstances but one obligation she must do for her son's future is to inform the necessary authorities that it was tampered with. If its already been used to claim tax refund and the authorities feel the need to trace the dubious individual then that's the cross the relative has to carry after all he who can commit the crime should be ready to do the time...

I even feel if she must confront the man then it should be as she is leaving cos I doubt that house will even be conducive and safe once she makes that confrontation...

Cc @girlloom
Confront him? Yes. Block the SSN if he has started using it? Definitely!. Go straight to the authority without giving him a chance to resolve this? You are going to cause an irreversible damage.

I don't know about USA but in the UK the moment you bagged yourself a criminal record you can as well kiss a goodbye to any prospect of getting a job in future.

This man hasn't offended this woman before until this moment, so to take drastic action against him as first offender is inconsiderate.

justwise. whats the easiest way to travel to usa then. im thinkin on apply for student visa tho i dont intend studying when i gt there. maybe if ive been given admission and visa and i get the school i.d card so that i can work legally and might just move to another state and get married so i can change it to a spouse visa. what about that bro??
Let me ask you this..why would you want to waste more than a million naira within a year and end up as an illegal immigrant the next year?

Yes cost of visa application, flight ticket to US, first term school fees and cost of living in US for one semester will add up to more than a million naira.

Marrying an American for visa? That is life mortgage, it got nothing to do with love and the chances of you leaving her to marry somebody else after getting your paper is very slim

Going with work permit
As long as the work permit is genuine one then that is the right paper to travel with to start a life in a foreign land.

Give it a try and judge by your experience, yes the news about suicide bombing is real.

Hi, I really need a sincere advice, I am in this kind of situation now, my little sister is supposed to go for a conference in America by June this year, now my family members abroad is pressing me to go in as the mother(I am her senior with about 13years)and chaperone her being that she can't go alone. And also I have the option to pursue a masters program in Missouri. Now I personally have zero to little as balance in my account to fund this program so I have got to feature someone else as my sponsor if I am to go with this option.
Now my mum and others are of the opinion that this other Way is cheaper and easier to come over, that it is an opportunity than going for admission, they are all citing my cousin who have been rejected a students visa three times. Now my concerns are
1. I don't want any dent of any kind on me or my documents, telling to go in as the mother first of all is against my principles of 'no fraud, no lies'
2.lets say we get the Visa and travel, after the conference what next? They expects us to abscond and I learnt you can't do any reasonable thing while you havre no papers, but they are all saying come first, anyhow just come, and leave the rest for us. Please the gurus, @justwise, @mperiouxx, etc if you are here please help me out. Refusing to go in with their decision will be throwing away an awesome opportunity or? What are my chances of getting admission and not refused visa from the embassy? Or should I rather look the way of Canada and surprise them, cause all they want is anyway I can relocate. Thanks all. Waiting for your sincere advice.
Listen..don't be deceived by those telling you to forge this and that to appear as her mother, you don't stand a chance in hell.

1. There is no opportunity here rather you are going to be banned by America embassy after forging papers just to get a visa

2. You can't study in USA with visiting visa.

3. You can't claim to be her mom because everything you are about to do now is FRAUD!

4. You can't work legally in USA with visiting visa

5. Those relatives encouraging you to just come over is going to use you and your little sister as slaves.

Stick to your principles and prove them wrong

I want to believe that you are matured and intelligent enough to disregard such advice. Buying a car means nothing, is not a sign of success or richness, Bytheway how much is a car and what sort of car?

You are going to USA with visiting visa whatever you do apart from visiting is a crime and a life of slavery.

I know people have been telling you to report to the police or agency so as to deal with him but I disagree. Yes what he did was wrong and disgraceful but you will do more harm than good by getting him arrested and subsequently a criminal record. You will tear your family apart and make a lot of enemies.

Have a word with him and make your feeling known without holding back your displeasure about his behaviour and get this resolved amicably
