jamael:
Nice but nobody was spending 10kobo 16 years ago (in 2004). At that time there was barely anything you could buy for 1Naira, let alone 10 kobo

Mine happened a long time ago. However, I still remember it crystal clear cuz it taught me some deep lessons.

I schooled in a religious school, back then in Sokoto, Mamman Barkeji Nursery and Primary School. In my Primary 3, I got first position for the first time and became the class prefect. Normally, girls started coming closer to me. I also reciprocated their kind gesture. There was this beautiful girl who came second that term. She was taller then most of us, had a pointed nose, and a very wonderful smile. I think her name was like Henuwell.

Naturally, I liked her. After school one day, a friend of mine, Musa, came to me and told me that she liked me and that she wanted to be my friend and would need some money. Mind you, I was about 7 years old then oh. Happily, I have him the little I has on me, about 10 kobo.

The next day, during the morning assembly, he told me that she was very grateful and that she loved me for that. My head began to swell. He asked whether I had some more money for her that it would make her love me the more. Unfortunately, I didn't have any with me, but I promised him that I would get it for him the next day. My people, that was how I started stealing the small change from our children's purse that was kept in my parent's room. I stole the N 25 that was there and gave it to the boy. Everyday, I got one new love story or another from the girl about how she was thinking of me, how she loved me better than any other boy, etc through Musa. grin

On one Monday morning, nemesis decided to pursue and catch up with me. I went into the Children's purse and lo and behold, only N 500 note was left there. Without thinking twice, I took the money and kept it in my bag. When it was time for us to go, my dad told us to enter his vehicle so that he could pick up our neighbours and drop us all at school. I really don't know what happened, but when he came out of the room, he came out with an empty bag of Children's money and began to ask for the thief. All of us initially denied it. Then my mom joined him and began to beg us to open up. By that time, I was already shaking. That was how I confessed and got serious beatings from both my parents. I cried and cried and cried. It was really painful. After some time, my parents stopped and bundled me inside the car.

As soon as we got to school, they told the Headmaster and I went for the morning assembly. The first thing that Musa asked when he saw me was whether I came with the money. At that point, the pain I was feeling was more than my love for Henuwell and I told him to leave me alone. As soon as the assembly was dismissed, my class teacher called me to kneel down under the tree for stealing from my parents. I then told him that it was because of Musa and Henuwell.

When both of them came, Musa couldn't look at me. As the man was about to punish both of them, the girl shouted that she didn't know anything about it. That was when Musa confessed that he didn't even talk to the girl and that he was using the money I gave him for himself. You need extra beatings I received that morning. Musa was called a criminal, was terribly beaten and got seriously punished throughout the whole day. They even asked reported him to his parents.

To crown it all, about a week later, I learnt that Henuwell actually really loved me and wanted to be my good friend. embarassed

The next term, I left that school.

That was how I was scammed.
This stuff happened about 16 years ago, but funny enough, as I was typing this, I could still visualise Henuwell's face. wink

When I asked her to just cancel her signature and return my letter she insisted on it being destroyed sat on the waiting chair waiting for her to make up her mind all of a sudden she tore the letter right to my face... I left there and came back the following day with a letter copying the regional office the head office the chairman and to whom it may concern within a second all the people in FIRS came including her and was begging me but I didn't bulge I submitted it and emailed the rest... I dont know if anyone has mentioned this but if you truly loved her and at the same time also serious about immediately moving on from this, then be prepared for heartbreak and sadness

If she meant alot to you like I think she did, this is going to be hard to deal with. You are still in some level of shock. I however am confident that you will endure, thrive and come out of this stronger

Nairaland / General / Re: Let's Talk About Motion Sickness by jydux(m): 2:23pm On May 12, 2015
I have had motion sickness since I was a kid and since then, I have been aware of wat it is. until recently.. it prevented me frm even learning how to drive or being excited about making long trips by bus. I havent traveled by air or sea so I dont knw if it wuld be worse in dose situations. Till ds moment... I stil get visibly irritated weneva a public vehicle drives into a fuel station... gets stuck in traffic or lacks cross ventilation for air. The height of my motion sickness occured on d day I traveld to jos frm lagos for nysc. by d time we got to lokoja... I was near sick... and my body couldn't take it anymore. I vomited so hard and with so much volume dat I felt my stomach clench as I had nothing left in me to vomit.

The following are measures dat have helped me deal wt motion sickness better.
1. Avoidance of full meals prior to long distance traVel / commute.
2. Ensuring dat I sit in a well ventilated area of d vehicle.. any vehicle. no ventilation.. no boarding / driving for me.
3. Licking of peppery sweet or milky sweet.
4. Avoidance of extensive reading or things dat cud make me more aware of d motions arnd me.
5. if I must eat... I eat stuffs dat r least likely to ignite a throwup episode.. like suya..pepperd meat.. or fruit juice

ALKARULEZZ:
I've lived in 15 states, been to 25+ and I've come to this conclusion based on my opinion and observations....

The States with the highest population of local girls....

1. Ekiti
2. Ondo
3. Ogun
4. Kwara
5. Kogi
6. Kebbi
7. Oyo
8. Osun
9. Adamawa
10. Katsina

Bashing is allowed.. Still won't change the fact that most of their girls are local champions

The tragedy of this topic is that you simply do not know the meaning of local. Find out the meaning of local.. and you will realise there is no modicum of sense in what you have written.

[b]This election is not about GEJ been scammed in southwest or not. The people of the SW and north spoke the truth with their votes. It is unfortunate the Igbos made a wrong political gamble by supporting GEJ even though he failed woefully and did nothing tangible for their region. They failed to forget the past and embrace national unity hence their political decisions has always damaged their chances of having a major political influence or relevance in the Nigerian system.

There were so many indications that Jonathan was going to lose - He prepared late; he was careful with the timing of his declaration, when body language showed he was interested. He had no message for the people. All I heard were trains and fertilizers, YouWin, benin-Ore road and SureP(Really?) for 6 years. His campaign strategies reeled of derogatory statements and unnecessary personality attacks instead of concrete manifestos. APC employed consultants, PDP employed losers (FFKs, Okupe, Abati, Reuben, TANs etc). Jonathan heated the polity with ethnic-religious campaign strategies, jumping from one church to another; what do you think the Muslims would do? His wife continued to make derogatory statements against the North calling them names for making babies they can't cater for and insulting them with the constant mention of Almajiri schools. He was deceived by his aides , greedy people around him and he became a sectional leader. He was a bad product and I made mention of this regularly, a bad product never sells.

So I would say he scammed himself, he deceived himself by running to the south west bribing kings for endorsements as if the masses don't know what they really want.

He has successfully created a divide along tribal, religious and ethnic line all around the country and it will take a massive national reorientation to restore our national unity.

I will not pat him at the back for conceding defeat cos he already knew what awaits him if he acted on the contrary. He was part of the crew that ousted Gbagbo and he is fully aware of the watchful eyes of the ICC and instead of spending the rest of his life in jail like Gbagbo, he chose to return to Otueke to enjoy his loot in peace.

Gej should have won this elections easily if he had the interest of the masses at heart. He will forever live with the stigma of the first incumbent president to be ousted in Nigeria.

it's really weird how the way you expressed and articulated your points mirror mine on the matter of people giving kudos to jeg for doing something dat is constitutionally required. People seem to have very short memories and some now idolize him as if he did us a favor by conceding defeat after his loss. He gave us what we deserved.. what is expected..nothing more. And he dint do it so cos he had good intentions or cos he is a Democrat at heart... he did it because he has considered the possible repercussions of dissent with a clear Buhari victory inspired by the masses... and he is not willing to live; or die with the consequences.

we really should stop rewarding mediocrity. Thats what got us into this dire situation in the first place.
