Hello all, I'm new on this thread. My family and I applied for South African tourist visa since the 4th of April at the VFS office in Abuja, no word from them until now. We were granted a 3month visa back in 2020, but couldn't make the trip due to Covid. At the time, it was ready within 3 weeks, I don't understand the delay this time around. We've sent a mail, no response.

Good morning everyone, hope we all had fun during the Easter holidays. My own fun started quite late 'cause of situations beyond our control, and that's what I want to share with us so we all would be careful out there.
So my younger sister who lives in Abuja (she owns a solar company) was contacted by some guy who claimed to be a philanthropist and a politician in Portharcourt. He told her he's heard about her company and needed their services, he said he wants to give his community a borehole and put Solar Street lights from his house to the main road. To cut the long story short, transactions was initiated and all necessary information/documents presented via email, Initial deposit made and concluded, so my sis got her engineers ready for work but went ahead of them to survey and sign the final documents. The said man sent his supposed driver to pick her up from the airport and that was the beginning of our nightmare... Lo and behold they are Kidnappers!! They kidnapped my sister on Saturday evening and demanded 10mil. Of course they took back the initial deposit they paid and wiped her account clean, shot her on the leg, killed about two guys whose family was not coming fort with the ransom demanded, promised us they'll kill my sister too and sell her body parts like they'll do the ones already dead.
Hmmm!! You can imagine the fear and confusion that was going through our heads at this point, coupled with the fact that we lost our eldest brother a year ago this month... It's a situation I don't wish on anyone, it's a terrible terrible experience.
Eventually we negotiated and paid the ransom that night, she was then released Sunday afternoon around 2pm... She's still traumatised but alive to the glory of God.
So guys be careful out there, be at alert when seeking for jobs or contracts. These guys sounded so genuine eh and I mean they made a deposit of 2mil... Smh.
God's protections on us all�. Please let's be careful. God will save us from evils one.

All Arabs at the time pf the Prophet (PBUH) already had the Qur'an memorised and bits of it written in pieces. The Muslims at the time of the first compiled Qu'ran could easily verify its authenticity because they hadmemorised in their dialects.

There were no such things as Sunni and Shi'ah in the time of the Prophet(PBUH). Even with the sectarianism going on, we still have ONE QUR'AN, with no deviations.

Muhammad died in 632 AD

Abu Bakr the first Caliph ruled for 2 years during which he started the first compilation and he completed it before he died and kept it.

The second caliph Umar ruled for 10 years from 634-644AD and he was in custody of manuscripts until he died after which Hafsa his daughter kept custody of it.

During the rule of Uthman (who ruled 12years after Muhammad had died) that is more than 12 years after the first Quran was compiled. Uthman ruled for 12years so in between those 12 years while he was ruling, people called his attention to the different ways people were reciting the Quran (which has been the norm even when Muhammad was alive and he didn't think of unifying the Quran into one dialect because Muhammad himself said the Quran was revealed to him in 7 different dialects)


But Uthman decided to unify the Quran into one standardized version when neither Allah nor Muhammad gave him such Instruction when he was alive.

So Uthman sent for the manuscript with Hafsa
"...So 'Uthman sent a message to Hafsa saying, "Send us the manuscripts of the Qur'an so that we may compile the Qur'anic materials in perfect copies and return the manuscripts to you." Hafsa sent it to 'Uthman. 'Uthman then ordered Zaid bin Thabit, 'Abdullah bin AzZubair, Said bin Al-As and 'AbdurRahman bin Harith bin Hisham to rewrite the manuscripts in perfect copies."... Sahih Bukhari 6:61:510


So Uthman then ordered his scribes to write the new Quran in the dialect of the Quraysh and when they were done with their editing and standardization they buried the evidence of their alterations by burning the evidence.


"...'Uthman sent to every Muslim province one copy of what they had copied, and ordered that all the other Qur'anic materials, whether written in fragmentary manuscripts or whole copies, be burnt..." Sahih Bukhari 6:61:510

Hence the Quran sent to all provinces were compiled during the reign of Uthman who started ruling 12 years after Muhammad died and ruled for another 12 Years and the compilation and editing was done within his 12 Years of rule, which was 652 A.D.20years after Muhammad had died

Also, as at that 652 A.D. there was no diacritical marks in Arabic language, it only came into existence in 8th century and the 9th century, long after Muhammad had died and long after Uthman had given out his own standardized version of the Quran

The arabic skeletal script is without the diacritical marks and vowelization:
Fathah = ah
Dhammah = oo
Kasrah = ii

None of the above dialect marks existed in the time of the prophet or Uthman in 652 AD and the present day Quran has them

That means all the current Quran you have in the world today are fake because Usman destroyed all the other Qirats and gave you only one Qirat but 300 Years after, ibn mujahid synthesized the new 7 Qirats from nowhere and that's the source of the Quran you're reading today.


After the compilation they burnt other manuscripts of the Quran which was against what Mohammed said, Mohammed said the Quran was revealed to him in 7 different dialects but after Uthman and Zayd were done with their fabrications they burnt all the other Quranic manuscripts including the other dialects of revelation. The instructions to burn the other manuscripts was never given by Muhammad before he died nor by Allah, Zayd and Uthman only acted on their own accounts, and they burnt the evidence to cover up their fabrications and gave the Muslim world the revised edition of the Quran. But the Shia were angry because they knew the Quran had been corrupted. 

The Muslims continue to read Uthmanic codex of the Quran until 934 AD when ibn mujahid read that Muhammad actually said he received the Quran in 7 different dialects but since Uthman and Zayd had burnt the other dialects up, ibn mujahid then created his own 7 dialects of the Quran which are Nafi; ibn Kathir; ibn 'Amir; Abu Amr; Asim, Hafs; Hamzah; al-Kisai.In 1924 in Cairo Egypt, The Hafs manuscript was edited into the Quran you have today.

Yes this had to be done because the various Arab tribes had the Qur'an in their dialects which lead to some inconsistencies. He decided it was best to have a unified text in the dialect of the Prophet(SAW).

The Qur'an text from the time of Uthman was in ancient Arabic script. As time went on and the religion spread to non Arab speaking countries, there was a need to have a simplified form of Arabic writing so it can be easily communicated to the non Arab Muslims. As a result, the same Qur'an was re-written in the new language format without any additions or subtractions.

There is a copy of the oldest Qur'an estimated to have been printed about 50 years after the passing of the Prophet (SAW). It was written in the ancient Arabic text. It was studied extensively in a German school of ancient languages and was confirmed to be the same as the current copies we have today.

WHERE IS THE QURAN GIVEN TO MUHAMMAD?

Once Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) went out to the Musalla (to offer the prayer) of `Id-al-Adha or Al-Fitr prayer. Then he passed by the women and said, "O women! Give alms, as I have seen that the majority of the dwellers of Hell-fire were you (women)." They asked, "Why is it so, O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) ?" He replied, "You curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands. I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religion than you. A cautious sensible man could be led astray by some of you." The women asked, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! What is deficient in our intelligence and religion?" He said, "Is not the evidence of two women equal to the witness of one man?" They replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is the deficiency in her intelligence. Isn't it true that a woman can neither pray nor fast during her menses?" The women replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is the deficiency in her religion."

The Prophet (peace be upon him) explained that the deficiency in woman’s reasoning means their weak memory. Therefore, their testimony must be verified and supported by another woman to confirm their testimony, because they may forget and thus add or omit some of the testimony.

Allah (He may be Praised) states:

“And get two witnesses out of your own men. And if there are not two men (available), then a man and two women, such as you agree for witnesses, so that if one of them (two women) errs, the other can remind her.”

(Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:282)

As for the deficiency of their deen, it means they abandon Salah and Sawm (fasting) during their menses and post-partum period. They are not commanded to repeat Salah (prayer). This is the meaning of their being lacking in deen. They will not be called to account for this shortcoming, because it is the will of Allah (Glorified and Exalted be He) Who legislated this for their comfort. If they were to observe Sawm during their menses and post-partum period, it would be difficult for them. Therefore, Allah commands them to abandon Sawm during their menses and post-partum period, and make up for it later. As for Salah, there is something which prevents them from ceremonial purity. Therefore, it is out of the Mercy of Allah (Glorified and Exalted be He) that He commands them to abandon Salah during their menses and post-partum period. However, they are commanded not to compensate for Salah because there is great hardship in this, as Salah is repeated five times a day and night, and menses may last for many days; seven, eight or more and post-partum may last for forty days. So, it was of Allah’s Mercy and Benevolence not to hold them accountable for Salah or oblige them to make up for it.

This does not mean that the lack of their deficiency to reason and deen extends to every aspect of life.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) explained that the lack of their ability to reason is because of their weak memory when giving testimony, and the shortcoming in their worship is because they abandon Salah and Sawm during their menses and post-partum period.

This does not mean that they are lower in rank than men in all things, or men are better than them in everything.

Generally speaking, males excel females for many reasons. Allah states in Surah An Nisa (4:34) “Men are the protectors and maintainers of women”, because Allâh has made one of them to excel the other, and because they spend (to support them) from their means. However, some women may excel men. There are many women whose reason is better than men, and are stronger in deen and memorization. The report of the Prophet (peace be upon him) only indicates that the male gender is generally better in reasoning and deen than the female gender in the two aspects specified by the Prophet (peace be upon him).

Women may perform more righteous deeds than men, their piety may be more than men, and thus their rank in the Hereafter may be better than the rank of men. They may focus on some matters and memorize them better than men. They exert effort in memorization and focus, so they established a reference in Islamic history as well as other things which are clear to those who consider the conditions of women during the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and later. It is now evident that this deficiency does not mean that we cannot rely on her in narration or testimony, if she is supported by another woman. Anyway, this report does not prevent her from being of the best servants of Allah if they perform righteous deeds; although Sawm is overlooked during their menses and post-partum, and even if they are exempt from performing Salah. This does not mean that they are lower in everything.

Men and women are equally required to observe the standards of piety, good actions, and careful performance of things in their charge.

This specific lack of reason and deen is limited to what the Prophet (peace be upon him) explained.

So, a Muslim must not offend women by attributing deficiency to them in everything, but it is a flaw in their worship and weakness in reasoning with regard to accuracy of testimony. Thus, the Hadith of the Prophet (peace be upon him) should be properly understood.

@Bolded, Islam is against random acts of violence, forget what the media and those who misquote the Qu'ran say. Islamis a deen balanced on Imaan(faith) and 'amal(deeds). If you pray from morning to night and don't balance it with sincere good deeds, your bad acts will be used against you on the Day of reocmpense. Conversely, if you engage in charitable acts and don't balance it with sincere acts of worship to Allah, the deeds will carry no weight on the Day.

So do you qualify for Heaven by the number of Hours you pray or by actually being a good person.

As Allah repeatedly states in the Qur'an BOTH have to be sincererly fulfilled if one hopes to meet with his Lord in the Hereafter.

It takes a lot of practice to be able to recite properly without errors. Have you learnt the basics of Tajweed? That would greatly help your recitation. Get a nice, slow reciter to recite along with. With time and extensive practice you'll get better bi-idhnillah.
