Roycemadeit: Actually I was hinting on on "God making something imperfect." Ok, I understand . The creation of our bodies is perfect. How network of blood vessels, hormones and enzymes which performs specific functions without interfering with one another, the general complexity of our anatomy is one of the signs of the perfection of God's creation. However we were created with the freewill to make our own decisions. As a result we're susceptible to occasional sins and transgressions. But the important thing is to seek repentance from these sins and try to live in accordance to the command of God. |

midnighter: Ive explained it already, thats what Im trying to tell you.
If you understood that God is a righteous God you wouldnt be complaining about conditions and vindictiveness and all that other stuff, because its totally beside the point. Holding somebody accountable for their actions is not "vindictive".
Its insincere to suppose that God just forgets everything you do because He is too weak to stick to His principles. Kindness and mercy is not an excuse for you to get away with things, is it It is used in some cases, but its not a given. Grace is not a given!
You even mentioned "trying hard" to repent and not commit the same sin again. This is why youre getting it wrong. No matter how hard you try, you will always fall short of God's perfect standard. This is why you and I, and every human on the planet, need an intercessor.
And saying that "we were created with imperfections" is wrong according to Islam. I thought you people said that every human was born perfect until society later corrupted them So where does the corruption come from?
And what is God going to do about it?
Thats what you keep failing to answer because you havent fully understood the nature and severity of the problem of sin and by extension you havent grasped how impossible it is for God to be able to accept it in His presence. What principles is your God sticking to? Islam never stated we were created perfect, perhaps you misunderstood whoever told you. What Islam states is we were all born with a natural disposition (fitrah) to worship 1 God. But society changes this perspective as we grow. If you'll open your mind and search for the truth it'll come to you by the permission of Allah. @bolded nothing is impossible for God, change that notion now!!!! In fact this is why I say our ideas of God are completely different. The biblical God rested after 7 days of creation, claims to be omnipresent, yet didn't know Adam had eaten from the tree, regretted creating humans . Regret means helplessness(what an insult), also needs a human sacrifice to forgive sins I can go on and on. You religion actually diminished the greatness of the Creator and you guys aren't paying attention. |

Daejoyoung: I think we are not understanding each other here. l am saying that the bible was never taken to be dictated word of God from the very beginning. lt was always known to be written by man but useful for our information about God and our learning. lt is not even one single book, it is a library of books chosen by jews and Christians themselves. ln christianity most especially, the gospels are not from jesus, they are biographies about him written 40-50years after his death. Anything written by man can have errors, it doesn't mean there's no truth in it. You are the one who say Quran is authored by God, so the Islamic religion is a stricter religion of the book than Judaism and Christianity. Jews and Christians can agree that their books have errors and that men authored it, but for muslims they must accept the entire quran as the word of God himself, and all muslims must believe this, which to me is a bigger problem for islam. It's not a problem for us. Were indeed glad to have such a gem in our lives. It's a treasure you keep exploring. The linguistic miracles, facts later discovered by modern scientists and some recent discoveries (eg male and female is mentioned exactly 23 times each. We have 23 male and female chromosomes). These things make us have a deeper appreciation of our religion and it strengthens our faith. Again how can you be sure a book authored by men with errors can be absolutely factual about God? |

themonk: First, right off the bat. I'm not an Atheist and I have no recurring interest in criticism of religion. I'm just motivated to do it today.
You have come to substitute the Christian story with your own Muslim story which honestly is more ridiculous maybe except for the figurative big bang theory it supposedly talked about. Let me not even go into the story of how most religions turn literal things into figurative expressions so they can fit into mordern societal beliefs and they can in turn say their holy book prophesied it.
So scientists have said they do not know what caused the big bang, let us just say you are correct and it is "God" that as you said "Exists outside the universe" that caused it. So who created this God that exists outside the universe? Let us say he exists in another universe or in a multiverse. Who created this multiverse? Someone might show up tommorrow and say your own "God" was created by him and this multivelse is his own "Garden of eden", isn't it?
The idea that you say it is God because a book told you that one of the Gods out of about 4200 God's that existed throughout history Created the universe is ridiculous. I mean Egyptians, Greeks, African Traditional religions had their own convincing stories. But you own is the one who created the universe, how convinent? The reason your own created the universe is because you were born into a family of Muslims or on a rare occasion you got converted to Islam. This is why the Christian also believes his own God created the universe.
Don't even start by telling me all religions have the same God because God obviously told you guys different stories and gave you different books. Scientists have opined that the concept of creation, of being came as a result of the big bang. What force that caused this cannot subject to it's effect. So God is the Creator that is not created.. Who created the multiverse? He's Rabbil alameen ( Lord of the Worlds) Anyone that says that their God created the universe should come forward with substantive proof. Besides the big bang described in the Qur'an, the Qur'an also mentions how mountains are like stakes to stabilise the Earth, how iron was sent down, how the moon is a reflective light and many more. These were revealed centuries before science discovered these facts. Note the the Qur'an is not a book of science.
. No, I'll never tell anyone that all religions have the same God. I've studied the concept of God in most religions, honestly none makes much sense except Islam. I'm not saying this cos I'm Muslim. I wasn't even raised Muslim. Read the book :The bible, the Qur'an and science by French scientist Dr. Maurice Bucaille, where he compared both books from a scientific perspective. |

Daejoyoung: . k4kenny, we write things with errors every day, we also compose music that may have errors, but it doesn't mean that we are not inspired by something powerful. There is no evidence that God ever authored a book in this world, but the love of God inspires men to write about God and such writings can be useful for our learning. Exactly we are humans, we're prone to making errors. Any scripture inspired by the God Almighty cannot be incorrect. No, God never authored a book. Rather He inspired His Prophets with the scriptures to guide their people to worship none but Him. These scriptures were later corrupted by human hence the errors. The Qur'an is the final scripture of God to mankind. Allah Himself said it'll be protected from corruption. |

DeepSight: Adopting the same logic in your last paragraph (which I agree with, by the way) - should we not similarly conclude that God could not have created this world - with its imperfections, diseases, absurdities and glitches? Could it not therefore be the work of some non-transcendent or mortal scientists within this realm, or within this universe? Look again at the universe, look at the creation of your own self, can you name any imperfections? The world is such a complex creation yet everything is in perfect balance if we were to be a few inches closer to the sun we'd all roast. Same with our body systems, our complex network of cells organs and systems all working together on perfect harmony and balance. These are signs for us to ponder upon. The imperfections we see in our world today are all man-made. |

themonk: You are basically saying there are things God cannot do? Which is forgive and erasing repercussions, which is basically what humans do for one another.
If God has to randomly or systematically allow repercussions for sins and cannot forgive man without the spilling of the blood of his son, it means there are physical and universal laws he cannot tamper with and those laws are above him isn’t it?
The idea that God believes he was not created makes him an atheist, imagine a situation another God shows up and say. I’m the one that created this God you guys worship and the universal laws he must obey are under my command.
It is crazy to think that the Bible is infallible, except most things there are figurative, I mean some verses directly contradict the others. Sorry to say but if the Bible is literal, it is complete junk, if it is figurative how does “God” expect us to figure out the true meaning when almost different denominations interpret it differently even when they all claim to be under the same holy ghost.
I have come to understand and experience spiritual and paranormal parts of life but honestly most religions are junk. Come to think of it, A god inspires this book which everyone must follow or they burn in hell regardless of the degree of exposure or familiarity they have with this book, this book copied the concept of a son of God of immaculate conception who came to die for the world from ancient Egyptian religions and has so many contradictions.
In my experience most people who believe the Bible just want it to be true the moment you sincerely read the Bible without bias and with an open mind you see holes in it. I mean starting from modern scientific discoveries up to direct statements and these contradictions or inaccuracies are recurrent.
I know there is a spiritual part of life but most religions are lame attempts to explain it and more likely attempts to enslave people. It has come to my understanding that most atheists and critics of religions only do so by criticizing the Christian perspective of God and what the bible says. Your statement that God believes he was not created is weird. How can you tell what God believes? Anyways Islam has its own explanation of God and how the world came into being. Science theorised that the universe was created by an expansion which lead to a big bang. This is also stated in the Qur'an. The question now is what lead to this big bang?. Newton's first law of motion states that an external force causes an effect on an object. Whatever force that caused the big bang is definitely outside of this universe. Also note that whatever causes an effect has no resemblance to the effect it has caused. Let me explain better. When you blow a balloon, it expands. The expansion is as a result of the air pressure inside the balloon. The air(cause) has no resemblance whatsoever with the balloon's expansion (effect). In the same vein, the Creator of the universe bears no resemblance to any of the effects of His cause. Q112.4 states ' and there is nothing like unto Him'. Any religion that gives their 'god' a human identity is nothing but a sham. I'll really urge the OP and others to please study Islam with a non biased mind. Forget about all this propaganda of Isis and Boko haram. It's all plot to cause chaos and divert people from the truth. |

midnighter: Sins need to be punished. If you understand God as much as you claim to, you should understand that its against His nature to abide with sin. Forgiveness is not the point. He can forgive you but He still needs the sin to be paid for. Are you saying that your parents simply "forgave" you all the time when you were growing up, with no consequences?
You shouldnt use emotive language like "conditional forgiveness" and "revenge" to try to distract away from the point. God is a just god and feels righteous anger against sin and iniquity.
Your second paragraph is not closely connected enough with what we were discussing to warrant a response from me unless you can explain how it is relevant. I did not deny the existence of errors or inconsistencies in my previous post so I dont understand what you wrote there. We were created with imperfections. It's on our natural disposition to falter once in a while. But God is kind, merciful, forgiving and accepts sincere repentance. All you need to do is repent and try as hard as possible not to fall into that sin again. Even if you do, there's still room for repentance as long as you're alive and sincere in your intention. Yes, my parents and people I've offended have forgiven my offences as I have also forgiven those who offended without attaching any conditions or punishment. Anyone who's forgiveness is based on punishment or retribution is nothing but a vindictive and horrible person. Are you? If you buy a device and the manual is filled with errors and items inconsistent with the device you've purchased, would you be convinced that it's the manufacturer that wrote the manual? Anyone without sound knowledge of the product could have sneaked the manual into the package. Such is the case of the bible. Why would you call a book with errors was inspired by God. God is not the author of confusion. |

I won't even be surprised if he charmed himself not to be able to perform with you but with basically anyone in skirt. The world has gone crazy, there's no limit to the evils human beings are capable of. You need a break from that environment. Make yourself and kids your main priority. There's nothing wrong in praying for a fulfilled marriage even if this one fails. Single mothers with 4 kids are remarrying, nothing is impossible. Not all men are worth the stress and heartache. |

midnighter: 1. It makes perfect sense. What doesnt make sense is that somebodys sins are never atoned or paid for, anywhere, when God is supposed to be totally just.
2. Just because it (supposedly) doesnt have contradictions, it doesnt make it true. Even most works of fiction need to be free of contradiction before they can be published, so that they will make sense to humans and fulfil human expectation.
The Bible is not trying to fit into human expectation because it is a divine work and human capacity to understand things of the spirit is limited. It only seeks to let the truth be known. Why do sins need to be atoned for. Why does god need an innocent human sacrificed to atone for the guilty? Can't he just simply forgive? If forgiveness has to be conditional, then it's not forgiveness anymore, it's basically some kind of revenge. Parts of the Bible may be divine. But it has been written and rewritten over the centuries by men to fulfill their theological desires. The result of this is a book filled with errors and inconsistencies. How could God have created light on the first day, the sun and moon on the fourth? If these monumental errors, which science has come to disprove, are wrong, why then should we believe other parts of the same book? Jesus(peace be upon him) never came to preach Christianity. He came to preach the Oneness of his Lord. That's the same Lord we worship. |

englishmart: No pun intended, just that I don't find that fascinating as I don't intend to delve into further befuddlement What makes you believe that studying the Qur'an is a waste of time? It isn't the same as the Bible you know... Most Muslims aren't facing the challenges you listed in your opening post because: 1) It doesn't make sense that eternal life is dependent on some god-man, who never claimed deity btw. 2) there's no contradiction or inconsistencies in the Qur'an if you read it carefully. 3) I don't think any religion out there tells you to just pray and do nothing towards the achievement of what you're praying for. Tie your camel and put your trust in God. 4) Again, religion isn't some guarantee that you won't go through trials and tribulation. The children of Israel suffered for centuries under Egyptian rule, where they were enslaved and their sons killed. God's description of that period was ' and it this was a huge trial from their Lord'. Belief in God is not for the sole purpose of enrichment. Not that you shouldn't strive and work hard to live a comfortable life. |

When the angels said: “O Mary! Allah gives you the good news of a Word from Him, whose name is the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, who is illustrious in this world and the hereafter, and who is one of those brought near [to Allah]. (3.45)
Narrated 'Aisha: The Prophet in his ailment in which he died, used to say, "O 'Aisha! I still feel the pain caused by the food I ate at Khaibar, and at this time, I feel as if my aorta is being cut from that poison."
Sahih Bukhari 5:59:713
[Quran 2:125] We have rendered the shrine (the Kaba) a focal point for the people, and a safe sanctuary. You may use Abraham's shrine as a prayer house. We commissioned Abraham and Ismail: "You shall purify My house for those who visit, those who live there, and those who bow and prostrate."
And if thou (Muhammad) art in doubt concerning that which We reveal unto thee , then question those who read the Scripture (that was) before thee. Verily the Truth from thy Lord hath come unto thee. Surah Yunus [10:94]
Please point out the one that I lied and you'll tell if I am the author of Quran and hadith respectively In Q2.125 the word 'bayt' was used. This means 'house', not shrine. Again, where are you people getting these lies from We have explained what messiah means. Ask Google for more info. Hint : it doesn't mean God. Jesus was spoken of in high regards in the Qur'an, as were the other prophets of God. The one that the Prophet Mohammad(saw) being in doubt of what was revealed to him was just a rhetoric. Also note the earlier scriptures mentioned were the originals, not the ones contaminated by the hands of men. Almost 2 billion people akhi and growing rapidly daily. Let's talk about the Lords prayer originally taught by Jesus, their god... Jesus taught his people this prayer, no mention of the trinity in the entire prayer . Some decades later some people came to add the 'grace' to what Jesus taught. Let me tell another thing you don't know...
Prophet Muhammad PBUH was poisoned by A Jewish lady called Safiyat This is the HADETH
Narrated 'Aisha: The Prophet in his ailment in which he died, used to say, "O 'Aisha! I still feel the pain caused by the food I ate at Khaibar, and at this time, I feel as if my aorta is being cut from that poison."

When the angels said: “O Mary! Allah gives you the good news of a Word from Him, whose name is the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, who is illustrious in this world and the hereafter, and who is one of those brought near [to Allah]. (3.45)
In Conclusion, Bro don't be confused, all what I shown you here are in glorious quran and hadith resp Where do I even start from.... The Prophet(SAW) beheaded 600 Jews in Mecca? How Mecca was inhabited by pagans, no Jews in the region. Any report of the Prophet(saw) beheading any Jew or christian is a pure lie. The lived together peacefully in Madinah after the migration. It's worthy of note though that some Jews attempted to kill the Prophet, so they were sentenced to death. No, they were not up to 600 o. Prophet Muhammad didn't die from the poisoned meat at khaybar. He lived on for about four years after the incident, even married 3 wives, conquered Mecca from the pagans and went for Hajj all during the period . The name of the of Jewish lady that gave him the poisoned meat was not Safiyah, That was the name of one of his wives. Where do you people get these lies from . Since the Jews and christians in Madinah lived together with the Muslim immigrants, it was common for the hosts to give gifts to their guests. The Prophet gladly accepted her gift and ate the meat but he didn't die from the poison. He died of natural causes. Take a dictionary and check the meaning of 'Messiah'. It doesn't mean God, rather it means anointed One destined the Children of Israel. The stories of Jesus in the Qur'an can be found in Surahs 3, 5 and 17. You asked how can Jesus Christ be with God bla bla bla?? Jesus Christ said in Revelation 22:13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the begining and the end.. Moreso In John 10:30 Jesus Christ said I and my father are one
Jesus Christ is NOT a SLAVE to his Father as Prophet Muhammad pbuh was Allah's slave in which Allah couldn't communicated directly to him if NOT with the help of Angel Jubril How was it propounded by the Jews? Please provide scriptural proof? The Jews, like Muslims, believe in 1 God and think the concept of the trinity is ridiculous. Some even call it paganism. I can provide youtube links of Rabbis explaining such. How can Jesus be God and not know the last day? How can Satan try to deceive Jesus on a mountain, a god? Lazarus has been dead for 4 days, Jesus had no knowledge of it till he was told, then he wept God wept . Please go to your bible and read what Jesus said to the people after Lazarus was brought back to life by the will of HIS LORD. Jesus mentioned in multiple places in the bible that he was sent. By who? We have no problems being identified as the slaves of Allah, the Greatest, Creator of the Heavens and earth, the Ever-living. Jesus saying he and his father are 1 doesn't make him God. There's a difference between saying 'we are one' and 'we are the same'. Saying we are one means we're united in purpose e.g the song with the lyrics: we are family, we are one' Would we then conclude the the composer is saying we are the same? Jesus prayed with his face to the ground, like a slave to his master. He never saw himself as an equal to Almighty God. Go read the book by ex Christian scholar Bart Ehrman 'How Jesus became God'. Do you want to tell us that MUHAMMAD Was with Allah when He (Allah) was using "WE" "OUR" and "US" to refer himself in Quran?? Please explain Jesus Christ indeed . Tell that to the Jews who had the OT 2000 years before Jesus and still use it 2000 years after. There's no confusion about it, the 'we' was God, addressing Himself in Plural. Besides, how can Jesus be with God? Ain't they the same, according to your theology? |

usermane: Qur'an was revealed in human language, so it should follow the rules of human language in order not to confuse readers. If I was a non-Muslim reading Qur'an for the first time, how do I know that Allah is the one talking in this verse? The average Muslim does not need to scratch his head to understand that Allah switches from singular to plural as he wishes. We fully understand the verse. This is a book that is recited in the original form it was revealed. It has not gone through a language editor . |

AgentNairaland: Which of Your response did I striked through with?? I asked a general question base on the headline and shown two verses from the glorious Quran if it's Allah spoken from the two verses by using "WE" and "US" since Allah is ONE God referring to Himself in plurals is not peculiar to the Qur'an Genesis 1.26: let Us create man in OUR own image... |

usermane: Language don't work that way. You don't swear by yourself. You don't address yourself in first person singular and plural and in third person in the same sentence. It's like a statement like this; "I swear by the president of Nigeria, that I am surely able to". Can this statement be attributed to Buhari, the president?
No where does Allah swear by himself in chapter 91. I've studied the Qur'an since 2013, I do not recall Allah swearing by himself. He is Allah, the Greatest, The Creator of the 7 heavens, the earth and all that exists. He can address humanity anyhow He pleases. He is incomparable to anything that exists. So yes, He refers to Himself in singular, Plural, 3rd Person, swears by His creations ( the sun, moon, day, night, dawn, Judgement day...)and sometimes by Himself. Who are we to question His Words? |

usermane: What do to think of this verse;
Who is "I", "the Lord", "We"? Who is talking in this verse? Can be confusing for one who isn't familiar with reading the Qur'an. All are Allah. He refers to Himself in singular, plural and swears by Himself too. He also swore by Himself 3 times in surah 91( Ash Shams). He just doesn't mention His name directly like we do when we say WallahiAlso that's interpretation isn't correct; mashaariq wal maghaarib can be best translated to Risings and settings, not 2 easts and 2 wests |

AgentNairaland: You've said it all, ROYAL "WE" "US" they are used for a person who is a MONARCH or belongs to a ROYAL family.. Now the question is which ROYAL FAMILY OR FAMILIES Allah belongs to?? PLEASE ANSWER THIS
[s]Same 'we' was used in the Torah(OT) 2000 years before Jesus, the Jews are not confused by this concept, none of them ever attributed the pluralization to the trinity.Hope you understand.[/s]
CAN YOU JUST QUOTE THE VERSE FOR MORE EXPLANATION.. I am here to explain things to u Quote which verse? Why did you strike through my response? You haven't explained anything to me. Why do you think we was used in the scriptures? |

k4kenny: In the semitic language(Hebrew, Aramaic,Arabic etc...), there is the plural of numbers and the plural of reverence. Same with our own Yoruba language. Royals us 'we' when addressing their subjects, so it shouldn't be a strange thing to you.
Same 'we' was used in the Torah(OT) 2000 years before Jesus, the Jews are not confused by this concept, none of them ever attributed the pluralization to the trinity.Hope you understand. I believe I've responded to this if you can care to scroll up. The Jews are also unanimous about the oneness of God, yet plural pronouns were attributed to God in the Books of Moses. Allah is Maalik-ul-Mulk, King of Kings, Owner of all Dominion. He can address Himself anyhow He chooses. AgentNairaland: You've said it, I crossed what you said that "Awa la nse e" . "AWA" as u mentioned there has to do with group of people, Allah used the same "AWA" you need to get it clear Bro.. I quoted another verse where Allah used "US" See don't be confused |

tintingz: How can this be proven that a book came from a divine being that reside in the sky? And to make it more complicated the book was written in a cave.
I don't understand why Muslims are not skeptical about such claim. I can't believe we're still responding to something like this in 2019 where information is available everywhere, but well it's our duty... You think the Prophet sat in a cave to write the Qur'an ? Sadly no. The first revelation was gotten in the cave. That only comprised of the first 5 verses of Surah 96. The rest was revealed over a period of 23 years in bits and compiled into book form thereafter. |
