kikuyu1: Thing is specops aren't designed for traditional warfare and need to be supported by conventional forces.
https://cco.ndu.edu/PRISM-6-3/Article/1020999/special-operations-forces-and-conventional-forces-integration-interoperability/
Here's an often real world example of their usage. A 12 man section of the Guinean specops tracks a coy sized unit of rebels to the SL/Liberia border. After committing a massacre of some 50 innocents in the interior they're now relaxed on the very doorstep of their rear bases. What to do? -engage with your 1 mn$ trained operators? -call the Su 25s/L159s/Hinds -call in a conventional motorised unit to destroy them
But,your guys aren't supermen contrary to what the media would tell us and you have no air apart from extremely limited lift of 4 Y-12s and your ancient serviceable armour could never make it to the scene in time. Familiarise yourself with Jean-Fraude's misdeeds in Africa including sponsorship of BH and the Sahel jihadists. Ask the Ivorians who was behind their civil war. They're extremely unreliable as allies and in the real world everyone has their own agenda-nobody will fight for you out of altruism!
A proper conventional force is a prerequisite for any true specops-the former precedes the latter. Here where you get it wrong. You still see spec ops through the prism of cold war lens. Today US special ops team number close to 75,000 men. Today's special ops teams are primarily counterterrorism teams. In Nigeria we have the AFSF and MSF leading conventional attacks and backed by the rest of the army. I'm not referring to long range reconnaissance teams. As we can see special forces in Turkey, Russia, and America. They are heavily armed, heavily armoured with the support of significant air power. |

kikuyu1: Errr,no. Have you seen the armour poured in by Turkey into Idlib? It is very massive. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by kabe1: 2:04pm On Feb 22, 2020 |
kikuyu1: Guinean spec ops? It cost up to 30x more to train a true operator-the live ammo, attrition rate, higher end personal kit eg,3000$ SCAR Hs,flights to Israel,Russia and other first world training facilities and support elements, insertion choppers,ATvs etc,etc all ramp up the cost enormously. Btw,the training never ends. Even after qualifying the specops guys continue training lest their skills rust.
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/09/25/us/special-ops-retro.html
Wiki says these guys have only a reinf. battalion of ancient T 55s and PT 76s. Who would properly support the Guinean pipe hitters? Is such a unit even a priority over a properly equipped conventional force? I think not. I don't quite agree with this. I think having a small well trained, well equipped force is better for Guinea, especially when you take into account that they would be backed by French air power. They would be more effective than a large poorly equipped force. |

kikuyu1: Even a le Clerc needs to be properly deployed-smth the Saudis still haven't realised. IIRC,I've seen a captured Emirati le Clerc. Officially, actually according to https://lostarmour.info/yemen/ they and their allies have lost over 900 MRAPs!? If you've seen them in combat you'd not be surprised, though.
Edit: here's the pic. Even the US admit the Saudi crypto Zionists are hopeless! https://theintercept.com/2019/04/15/saudi-weapons-yemen-us-france/
Look how much effing money they spend!? Hundreds of Black Hawks,Hueys,Apaches and Cougars and CAS is still a mystery-WATF! The conflict in Syria continues to evolve, as we have seen in Idlib, Russia, Syria and Iran on one side against Turkey, Al-qeada allies on the other side. Each side with heavy armour. What this particular conflict especially the recently failed attack by Turkey and Al-Qeada on the town of Al-Nayrab in Idlib shows that armour as a stand alone assets is not effective especially when your opponent has round the clock aerial surveillance and significant air power. I was thinking that with all the armour the Turkey side has, they would be able to defeat the Syria+Russia side, irrespective of the Air Power on the Syria+Russia side. Although these are still early days, but we have to wait and see. |

lionel4power: For starters, JV GROM Personnels ROUTINELY FIGHT ALONGSIDE THE U.S NAVY SEALS AND BRITISH SAS.
how many times has the Nigerian SF (OF ANY TYPE) fought actively with any major country's S.F in another country except theirs? You don't seem to understand English bros. I'm asking you what has GROM achieved in COIN that the Nigerian Navy SBS hasn't achieved. You're telling me they go on operations with US Navy seals. Your comments makes no sense. I'll like to leave this discussion at that, as despite numerous calls for evidence you've not shown any proof that GROM has any operational experience higher than Nigerian navy SBS. |

lionel4power: If you don't already know the exploit of the GROM, from Afganistan to Iraq then you don't need to be here. You think Taliban is Boko Haram? Or Saddam Hussein is Shekau?
HAHAHA Bros, this is embarrassing. I thought you are smarter than this. I said sight verifiable instances? So it was Grom that killed Saddam Hussein? What tactics have been employed by the Taliban that Boko-Haram has not used? |

lionel4power: Google is friendly to everybody mate.
Also, they've been existing before your country decided to create any sort of 'special force' unit. Bros, don't tell us they have been existing. Giving the current terrorism challenge, what have they achieved, that's the question, not google is friendly. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by kabe1: 8:36pm On Feb 20, 2020 |
lionel4power: Don't play with the GROM... we no be mate bro. Where's the proof to show they are successful. Doing Gucci photoshoots is not a sign of success bros. Nigerian SBS has proven battle success from the creeks to the desert to Gambia, Chad. Countries that depend on America for their security, those are the countries Nigeria should learn from? Some of you guys are funny. As far as SF are concerned, Nigeria, South-Africa, Zimbabwe have proven records of success enough to dwarf many of these European countries. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by kabe1: 5:43pm On Feb 20, 2020 |
Odunayaw: What experience. We're talking about SF that fought a more sophisticated COIN in Afghan/Iraq. You compare BH to Taliban/ISIS? What intense battles? Which do you know of that you might like to share. What missions all over West Africa! Must you exaggerate!
Fine they depend on said countries for Tech and share tactics but there's no dependence in a firefight. These guys are held in high esteem by US and UK.
There are few things these countries' SF can teach us! It was not to far in the past our SBS learnt better techniques in CQC/CQB from this same ones. Bros let's agree to disagree. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by kabe1: 5:01pm On Feb 20, 2020 |
Odunayaw: I disagree. You do not know the pedigree of these guys at all. The same Grom that Delta Force applauded in WoT (Afghan/Iraq). Highly rated among ISAF or JTF2 that has a sniper with longest range kill. These are lazy examples tho but those guys have what to teach us in tactics in other spectrums. Fine they may not be accustomed to the African theatre but there's a whole spectrum of Special warfare these guys have done well and more than us.
Luckily the guys at the front are humble. No offence Sir, there is nothing Canada, Austria and Poland can teach Nigeria in COIN warfare. This is the fact. We have more experience than them, fought in more intense battles and have carried out missions all over west africa single handedly . Those guys depend most entirely on America and Britain. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by kabe1: 4:28pm On Feb 20, 2020 |
Odunayaw: What do we have over Jagdkommando, Polish JW Grom or Canada's JTF2. Are you for real? We have Navy SBS, Army SF, Air Force SF with nearly 10 years progressive experience in combating terrorism on the land and the sea, and in intense combat environment. We should be training those people bros. Only the Americans and Brits have more than Nigeria. |

Sizzorkay: haha, my bad guys, there's always a part of me that find these kind of training videos irritating, I mean , really? Was that dude showing Nigerian soldiers how to handle a rifle? How the fvk are these people supposed to respect us when we need them for something so elementary. Sure I'm naive about military matters, won't lie, but still, we've have an army for how many fvking decades now? And this is what they are being trained for? By some foreign soldier? damn. How many times we ever have joint exercise with these people? Without them being in the lead showing our soldiers how to draw map in the sand #don'tkillme. Just irritated You know this exercise is in multiple stages? It also includes helicopter insertion, counter ambush, close quarter fighting, medical evacuation, paratroop insertion and a lot more. What I agree is a soldier from Austria, Poland or Canada should not be instructing troops in this flintlock exercise. I don't see what they bring to the table, in most cases the African troops are far more experienced than they are. On the training side, at least the Nigerian navy had almost 10 joint training exercise with foreign partners last year. |

kennybabs1980: Chuks is a great guy, a good friend of mine in my office. He's happily married as far as I'm concerned. His wife is a school teacher and they have two kids. But I noticed that a particular beautiful lady comes to check on him in the office at least once a week. I asked him about the lady last week, he said she's just a friend. When I probed further, I discovered that the lady is a single mother of two and works as a nurse. That's last week. trouble for him in his family? You're friend's approach makes a lot of sense to me. Some women have become "ireasonable". If the side chick can bring him peace of mind, let him continue. That's what I also do. |

Except against machine guns and ak-47 fire, they don't seem to protect against anything else.
