The $40 mil price tag everybody likes quoting is not the actual price but rather the entire R& D cost..... And since only 12 were built the cost per unit is very bloated.

Secondly how is it sanction vulnerable?
You import all the important parts from Europe. That's how.

I think the jf-17 will be more ideal and suitable in checkmating to our west African neighbouring countries incase they misbehave
We need an aircraft that can pose a threat to the Rafale fighter jet. Only the JF-17 block 3 is good enough to do that.

For those of us who really know, Super Tucanoes would be the breakthrough capability in internal security.
Also it will be a cheap workhorse ISR/precision strike platform in one package.

The JF 17 is for regional power projection BUT it will fly too high, too fast and too blind to be useful against Boko Haram or bandits
Nigeria's air force procurement makes sense. When we consider the funds available and what has been purchased, it shows air force planners understand what they are doing. Training and Offensive capabilities have been good.

The Super Tucano is the best low intensity warfare aircraft available in the market. The weapons package coming along with it is also great. The ISR capabilities of the aircraft also makes it stand out.

12 MI-35M helicopters is also good.

The A109K purchase also makes sense.

The MI-17, I was hoping we would get a minimum of 6 units. 2 units won't go any where.

On the JF-17, if we look at how the world is going, it is a late purchase, very late intact.

I will say that we take the 3 units and hold on, while we wait for the block 3 to come on stream.

A-109K Max no of rockets = 14 rockets

7 rockets each in 2 pods

Incase nobody noticed

There is also the gun pod with integrated 3 rockets

So if using the same ,

2 gun pods + 6 rockets
/video/1

The Air Force pilot in this video said 40 rockets. I believe it could be configuration.

Seriously doubt Egypt spends that low even though they get funding from other countries.
It's incredible right?

The thing is Egyptian military also controls the majority of the Egyptian economy. This means that even if Egypt's publicly stated military budget is around 5 billion dollars, the true figures they spend might be higher than publicly stated.

So keep telling me $10bn arms procurement budget every year is a good idea.
Egypt don't spend up to $10 billion dollars, that's Algeria.

Super camp not working eh?
Was it the small camp strategy that was working?
You keep 100 lightly armed men 400 km from Maiduguri. To do what exactly?

This talk about "Intelligence ". That's just book talk BS. Boko Haram actually wrote some small camps that they were coming. You saw them on motorbikes surveying your perimeter. Its the realization that you are a small camp, far from major installations and observation that frequency of low flying air patrols have reduced hence Ops Lafiya Role aircraft probably temporarily out of action that does it. They also know Alpha Jets can be weather limited and if they attack the base at closer quarters the jets dont come in to avoid blue on blue.

A lot of commentators have not run operations before in civilian life and are talking about military. Suppose you are just 100 in the camp and your scouts tell you a Captain or Major that the frequency of sighting BHT spotters is increasing. You calculate that you need more mortars and about ten snipers and they should come today by chopper ..what happens?
Lafiya Dole will tell you that chopper flights are once in two weeks by the backbone schedule, otherwise talk to your battalion commander who will call the General in charge. What do you do?

Super Camps puts more authority right in the field. You can do more extensive aggressive patrols backed by chopper and dominate the area. Let Boko Haram attempt to ambush a patrol party that has an eye in the sky. The field will be painted red...real fast.
Super Camps are working as intended.

This video proof it.

See Ezugwu MRAP APC deploying for action in the Northeast against terrorists.

There's nothing better than seeing Nigerian made MRAP APCs supporting military operations.
