Never head of QE, quantitative easing? Fancy way of printing cash out of thin air without actually printing physical cash. Devalues a currency. Everybody suffers but the most productive nation remains and you lose the value of your credit. It's a stick the U.S. could use.
Very large low interest rate debts to financially unproductive and reckless states with money of which very little stays in the state I would classify as a debt trap.

Borrowing money to a successful business man is good business for both. Borrowing to a drunkard and serial gambler with large assets is to set up a trap for him.
None of which is the case with Uganda.

Hence the statement "If true".
Concerning the U.S. It's a completely different story if you print the money in the world's most powerful and productive country. The pieces are on your table.
You can't really owe somebody money you print, and you can sanction that money back into your coffers trump style.
You already concluded it was a "Chinese debt honey trap".

On the US, your comment is false. The US cannot print money whenever it feels like, that's not how fiscal and monetary policy works.

If true, another reason to be wary of the China debt honey trap.

This report has since been debunked by both the Ugandan government and the Chinese government.

Chinese loans are no traps. The US government also owes china more than 1 Trillion dollars in loans.

Nigeria won't buy the sanctions vulnerable Turkish helicopter or the untidily developed Indian Chopper that cannot be supported with enough spares and maintenance. They will use a phantom airbus chopper acquisition to flash the Americans.
Eventually they will buy US made AH1Zs
This is what would happen eventually.

Another day, another Nigeria Helicopter purchase news.

Turkish Aerospace, Airbus and HAL vie for attack helicopter contract
The Nigerian Air Force, which is looking for attack helicopters to boost its firepower, is currently conducting negotiations with the European manufacturer Airbus and India's HAL. But the Turkish TAI, solidly supported by Ankara, has a head start with its T-129 model.

I think NAF is waiting for the production of the JF-17 thunder block 3, that comes with AESA radar, and other stuff, and place an order for reasonable numbers, I don't think the NAF has eyes on other Jet fighters, America will never sell the F-16s to Nigeria, and I don't think we need it, because American equipments comes with strings attached.
Or maybe NAF is considering the Chinese J-10, but will China agree to export them?
I think NAF is more interested in replacing the Alpha Jet than procuring a Frontline jet.

The JF-17 is Chinese and shares quite a number of similarities with the J-10. I don't see NAF buying the JF-17 and J-10 at the same time.

NAF would be eyeing the JF-17 block 3, but the service considers an AH and replacing the Alpha Jets as more pressing priorities.

I don't think we would see additional JF-17 block 2 orders if NAF actually buys the M-346FA.

Understandable, but I think there is diversification of weapons by the Egyptians recently, they are no longer relying heavily on American weapons, although still depends on American military aids but I understand your point.
I rate the Algerian military too.
Even their European equipment rely heavily on American parts.

Look at Mali, they ordered an Airbus C-295 transport plane, yet the aircraft couldn't be delivered to Mali because of American sanctions.

There is nothing to prove the bolded because US have nothing to do with it. Besides, AH can't replace a fighter jets and we haven't heard of any other fighter jets with similar roles/capabilities that the air force is interested in.
One of the many companies present at the Dubai Air Show is Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (or PAC), which has a stand where they displayed, among several products, a model of the JF-17 Thunder, so for us it was a «must» stop.

PAC’s sales and marketing director, Commodore Moazzam Piracha agreed to answer some questions for Aviacionline about the prospects of their fighter in Argentina.

As a last detail revealed, PAC informed that there are currently no ongoing negotiations with Nigeria for the acquisition of more Thunder fighters, in addition to the 3 units already contracted. PAC hopes and expects that this situation will change at some point, while waiting for some sign of interest from the Nigerian government.

Two things we learned this week, Nigeria is not negotiating for additional JF-17 thunders, and Nigerian Air Force Top brass is still obsessed with American equipment.

Why would Nigeria want to spend $800 million on x 12 AH-1Z helicopters from the US?

In my opinion it is an unnecessary waste of money.

Although American military equipment is top of the line, for a country like Nigeria depending so much on American military equipment is almost as good as not having military aircraft all together.

This is just a bad, bad decision.

Egypt the best ever in Africa.
The best equipped military in Africa by a mile, but I rate the Algerians above them as the Algerian military looks more sustainable.

The Egyptian military looks very susceptible to sanctions.

How do you think this Damen lst compares in terms of cost with the Makassar-class from PT Pal, Asin which one do you think is more expensive?

Philippines paid $92 million in 2014 for the first 2 vessels and budgeted $110 million for the next 2.

I know they have quite different roles, the LST is for beach landings meanwhile the SSV needs a port to offload ( even thought it carries smaller landing crafts internally) this LPD is really on my mind grin

The damn thing is even bigger than the Hamilton class . Pic 1
I think the LST from Damen is less expensive than what a Makassar class SSV would cost the Nigerian Navy.

We cannot really say what changes the Philippines Navy requested for or systems they did not add. So it's quite difficult to compare like for like.

A good example is the Makassar class SSV which Peru is building. They are more expensive than the same Makassar Philippines got.

While the SSV would be my first choice, I don't think it's a practical choice for the Nigerian navy. Especially when you take into account the Navy has a requirement to replace NNS Ambe & Ofiom. An SSV would come with the requirement of new training and SOP especially when compared to the LST.

The usage of an SSV is limited when compared to an LST. If there are no port facilities or if available port facilities are contested, what happens?

If neighbouring countries are hostile to you what also happens, how do you dock?

With an LST, you only need a beach. Whether it's a time of conflict or disaster relief.

I don't think an SSV is a requirement for the Nigerian Navy at this stage, what we need is to have a second LST and a minimum of 2 x Corvettes and at least 2 x Frigates.
