Kabe1, it would be interesting to find out what the NAF paid for its Paramount Marauders. We know for example, that Singapore paid for less than the $220K/vehicle for their domestically manufactured version, the Belrex. And that's because they bought in larger quantities for a longer contract span (what traders call economies of scale), and also domesticated the manufacture and cost.

I will check for the information and paste it here.

Unfortunately the Nigerian Air Force only received a very, very small quantity for the Panthers team.

Those vehicles which were previously based at the Air Force Base in Maiduguri have now been been moved to Air Training Command in Niger state, close to Abuja where the Super Tucanos are currently based.

Because of the little number I think NAF Marauders would be more expensive than the Singapore variants.

Those ships are at least 60 years old, the Nigerian Navy has it's maintenance game on lockdown.

I'm really impressed. If you also look at the quality of ships that participated in this exercise, there's no doubt the Nigerian Navy is on the right path.

I just hope we invest in proper Frigates and Corvettes going forward. 2 x Frigates and 2 x Corvettes.

The Hamilton class ships are the largest ships the Nigerian Navy has in service, only NNS Aradu which is not in active service is larger.

Photo 2 shows her 30 mm main gun.

The Nigerian Navy has a requirement for 10 x SDBs.

With 3 units delivered and 2 x units under construction the Nigerian Navy is well underway to fulfilling it's requirements.

While SDB 1 is mainly an Inshore Patrol Craft, SDB 2 and 3 were built to Patrol all of Nigeria's 200 Nautical miles and further.

NNS Oji is designed to spend 16 days at sea before replinshment.

Last year NNS Karaduwa (SDB 2) and NNS Ekulu (Ocea built patrol craft) sailed to Ghana on a diplomatic visit. This visit marked the first visit of a Nigerian built vessel off the shores of Nigeria.

The rust on some US Navy Destroyers on deployment is something else.

Please kabe1 any information on SDB 4&5.. I mean their sizes and is there any picture of their design?

No official word on their sizes. However they are to be delivered in 12months time according to what they told Mr President.

We also know they are to be built concurrently at NDL, so I assume they would be of similar design and length to NNS Oji.

Yes, we have come a long way. We can certainly do better, but what we have is something to be proud of.

I am particularly excited about the SDB project.
