I also hope they won't wait for these platforms to get destroyed or become non functional before they sign another deal, procurement doesn't have to be yearly, it could be every 3-5 years until all requirements are met. NA should aim very high so that at any time all requirements are catered for. They should go for large numbers in a way that they can keep the number of platforms operational constant while some are undergoing maintenance/repairs and others are being used for training.
It should not stop with protected mobility, it should be extended to tanks, IFVs, artilleries, engineering capabilities, communications, intelligence etc.
Fully agree with this.

I think we should expect to see more Tanks, IFVs and artillery next.

More VT-4 Tanks and AFVs.

You know what makes this more interesting, many of these hardwares were paid for with the last defence budget, the one recently approved by the senate Wil bring provide the military with more menacing capabilities.
My problem with the military, especially the army is that, quite a number of troops display unprofessionalism unbecoming of well trained soldiers.

I hope we continue to train and retrain our soldiers enough to ensure that we get the best use out of these vehicles.

Please stop this, declaring or not declaring someone terrorist does not stop in any way deployment of state apparatus against them, does not stop the military and law enforcement agants going for kidnappers (way it becomes rampant as it now), we have seen how states formed special units to go for arms robbers and thieves when they were terrorising people, I think all this debate of terrorist or non terrorist is just a waste of time, our metric should be is the govt doing enough? We have seen the military deployed in NW, what's holding them back.
I don't have enough thank you's to say for this post.

How supposed educated people continue to make such a meaningless argument is beyond me.

The groups have the full state machinery deployed against them, from air Power to significant, very significant land Force deployment.

Even if the FG were to declare them terrorists, people like Komekn's would still not be satisfied with the designation.

100 units of CS/VP3 have been delivered to the Nigerian army.

Whyem15:
I only hope they bought enough spares, support vehicles and trained enough personnels to be able to maintain them for a long period. The way we used the last set of Bigfoot MRAPs is quite shameful.

Also, I hope they won't fix these platforms with 12.7mm guns only. They should carry varying calibers and types of ammunitions. They should follow the lead of the Navy by fixing 40mm grenade launchers etc on some of these platforms.
I think the most important thing is most of the vehicles are from Norinco. It makes maintenance and delivery of spares slot easier.

However in a war situation, wear and tear on vehicles would be expected considering the high usage of these vehicles in combat. Unlike the Reva MRAPS, I think the CS/VP3 MRAPS we bought from china proved the test of time. I agree with your assessment on the need to ensure the availability of spares though.

To be honest, you and I know all these vehicles would be armed with 12.7mm guns primarily.

I think what I've seen from the distribution of vehicles across army formations makes sense.

The Legion MRAPs have been sent primarily to the South-West, South-East and North Central.

The Type-89 would be used primarily in the North-East and perhaps in the North-West.

We would see the CS/VP3 and any Proforce vehicles going to the North-East.

While these Mengshi 4 x 4 would be distributed evenly across the country, replacing the Otokar Cobra vehicles.
Foreign AffairsRe: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by kabe1: 4:44pm On Nov 08, 2021
Nigerian army has so far received

- 60 units of Type-89

- 100 units of Dongfeng Mengshi 4 x 4

- 100 units of CS/VP3 ( not yet delivered)

- 60 units of Legion MRAP from the UAE

- An unknown number of PF Viper and ARA MRAPs

That's more than 320 units of armoured protected vehicles for the Nigerian army.

All vehicles purchased brand new.

An undisclosed African country in 2020 ordered 100 DongFeng Warrior armoured vehicles from China.

On 15 August DongFeng and Poly Technologies signed the ‘N720’ cooperation agreement and purchase letter of intent in the largest purchase contract signed by Dongfeng and Poly, Chinese media reported

About which of the current generals and colonels of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan "leads by the nose" the leadership of the Ministry of Defense and members of the government, trying to hide the obvious shortcomings of expensive armored vehicles of domestic production.

Correspondents of Ulysmedia.kz conducted their own journalistic investigation into the facts of abuse by officials of the Ministry of Defense and representatives of the manufacturer. It turns out that the shortcomings of military equipment were reflected in the acts of military trials , but for some reason the leadership of the Main Command of the Ground Forces was strictly forbidden to the members of the commission to detail some of the shortcomings in the final protocol and vice versa to "vigorously praise" combat wheeled vehicles that should be adopted by the Kazakh army in the near future.

South-Africa's Paramount group 8x8 didn't do well in trials in Kazakhstan.

According to the source, the Barys 8x8 IFV of Kazakhstan Paramount Engineering, have a lot of technical problems with the engine, running gears and suspension, weapon system, FCS soft and turret.

I know I'm not supposed to diss the Ethiopians, but I remember how some peeps here claimed the Ethiopian Airforce is by far better than our Airforce. We should really give our Armed forces alot of credits. We're really trying, but all we do is to compare it to the U.S,which is a Super Power. I know our "Government", is "sabotaging" our security forces through their policies atimes, but Nigeria would scale through.
Our military still has a lot to do interms of professionalism and training, but our guys are trying. They deserve a lot of credit.

Also our procurement of equipment has also been conducted in a sensible manner.

It's not by buying SU planes. The big question is, can you maintain them and keep them airworthy in the event of a conflict?

Procurement policies of the Nigerian Air Force and Navy have been worthy of praise and emulation.

The way they capture the Ethiopian Government soldiers in number......Poor battlefield leadership.
Modified.
Don't get me wrong it happens in war. However, modern sensor systems give a clearer picture of the battlefield to allow for tactical manoeuvres to prevent large scale surrender.
Ethiopian military has been virtually non-existent. To say many people on here rated them highly speaks to the level of ignorance some Nigerians like to place others above themselves.
