After He Was Certified Fit to drive in 2017 by a registered driving school in Abuja but couldn't pay for the Driving License due to reasons beyond his control. Earlier Today, The Nairalander went to one of the FRSC offices in Abuja to get a teller for payment of the license after being certified by New World Driving School in 2017. The Nairalander got the shock of his life. He was told that the certificate he was issued 3 years ago has expired. My take on the issue: One day Nigerians will wake up and hear stories about the expiration of their primary, secondary and University certificates have expired. God Bless Nigeria and Nigerians. Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have shot dead a driver and abducted 13 others in Sabon-Gari village, along Abuja-Lokoja road. A driver, who simply identified himself as Ibrahim and narrowly escaped the attack, said the incident happened around 6:12pm on Monday evening when the gunmen suddenly emerged from the bush. He said he was on his way driving from Abaji and heading to Kwaita market when the gunmen suddenly emerged from the bush in army uniform and opened fire on vehicles passing by. According to him, the driver of an unmarked Toyota Highlander jeep coming from Lokoja axis on sighting the gunmen attempted to escape, just as one of them opened fire on the car, killing him instantly. He said an 18-seater commercial bus coming from Abuja was also unlucky just as the gunmen deflated the bus tyres with bullets, before they asked passengers on board to disembark and whisked them away into the bush. Daily Trust reports that the corpse of the jeep driver was still lying by the sideway on the road, while some vehicles coming from both directions stopped at the scene to catch a glimpse. When contacted, the spokesman of the FCT police command, ASP Maryam Yusuf, said the command was yet to get details of the incident as she assured that the command will investigate the incident. Boringdraw1:Why will MURIC Director react to baseless news from the op. The conversion is a scam on the path of the Catholic Church. No Muslim who knows Islam will convert. It's like migrating to darkness from light. Please taste the sweetness of Islam and see your life. |

Dr Tukur Danmuazu Zaria It is not a hate speech to give full identity of serial criminals. It is the only way to alert prospective victims and to guide crime fighters. The latest revelation in Nigeria is the mass adduction and sexual enslavement of children. How do we stop this act if we choose to ignore the identity of the criminals and the victims. Imagine not knowing whether bokohara fighers are from the north or south, how do we conrol the menance? Similarly when a particular tribesmen conspire among themselves and make another people target of crime we can not ignore the pattern of the crime or the identity of the criminals. From eastern Nigeria, they come to north and keep abducting specifically muslim children. Shall we ignore the pattern and the identity if we ever hope to stop them? No. These Igbos must be fully unmasked. The patterm of their crime is well established and the motive is clear. We must alert their designated targets let them know who to beware of. We must tell the world who is who. We will not allow them to blackmail us with hate speech accusation into silence. Let the innocent among them come openly and condemn their criminal fellow tribesmen. Usually all Igbos rise up to shout in protest when a single Igbo is threatened. Why are they silent now when their men and women are being caught in various states of northern muslims abducting little kids for slavery and prostitution? It is not hate speech to identify criminals whether as individuals or group or a whole society. The pattern and scale of the crime determine the fullness of the identity. Where men and women from the same tribe continuue to attack a particular society, it is imperative to identify the tribe and society of the criminals for cautionary and preemptive measures. So, I repeat, the Igbos must be fully unmaked and be held responsible. We are still waiting for Niggerian security to find the rest of Hausa Children abducted by the Igbos. We can not blame unseen spirits while the criminals are real. |
PoliticalWitch:Very recently, the case of Yunusa Yellow comes to mind. He's still in prison for similar case. |

THE SEVEN IGBO PLAGUES AND THE NORTHERN PHARAOH (1) Like in the academics, there can not be a valid and reliable research without theoretical framework and basic assumptions, so also in socio-political sphere no opinion is acceptable without basis in some social principles like religious or cultural precepts. He who claims to be a Muslim and is speaking as a Muslim is expectated to hinge kis opinion on Islamic precepts. Doing otherwise makes such a person either an ignorant plagiarist repeating what he heard others talking about or a person whose opinion is never to be taken seriously. Similarly, someone who culture or secular philosophy is his conviction is also expected to build his opinion in consonance with his ideology. No one has an opinion when one has no ideological, cultural, religious or philosophical basis for it. Nigeria, to be or not to be. As a Muslim I do not venture into a stand as to whether Nigeria should remain or be disbanded without reference to what Nigeria means from Islamic perspective. What I know besides theoretical requirement for basic assumptions, to deviate from the precepts of my Islamic conviction is to render me a non Muslim or a Kafir: He is not a Muslim who holds opinions opposite to Islamic tenents and precepts. This principle holds for all ideologies: a communist is no longer a communist when he advocates the primacy of private ownership over collective ownership; he is not a pacifist when he advocates war, he is not a Hindu when he eats cow, he is not christian when he believes in Muhammad etc I therefore speak as a Muslim. As far as Islam is concerned, the Igbo, or any other tribe for that matter, are free to decide to stay in Nigeria or opt out. No real muslim , except those who hold different unislamic view, which makes them non Muslims, has any right to hinder any tribe or people from disassociating with Nigeria. Right to control other people is acquired in Islam in two ways only. The right of conquest and the right of pact. When Muslims conquer a certain people in a LEGITIMATE WAR, then the right to control such people is acquired Islamically. On the second point, pact means agreement. When a people voluntarily agree to come under muslim control, such right is acquired and could be protected unless the muslims broke the terms of the agreement which made the agreed control lapse. Now which of the two conditions applies in Nigeria that gives any Muslim who respects the precepts of his religion, the right to oppose the secession of any people from Nigeria? Did we Muslims legitimately ( or even illegitimately) conquered the Biafrans? Did our respective legitimate representatives sat and agreed voluntarily and willingly without compulsion to form a political unit called Nigeria to last forever? If you don't know who you are, keep your baseless answer to yourself. This is for christians who speak from the christian perspectives, for Muslims who speak from Islamic perspective, for secularists who speak from secular perspectives and not for Muslims or Christians who speak from secular perspectives, confused bats. |
THE KANO 9 ABDUCTION: THE HYPOCRISY OF THE SOUTHERN PRESS — Maiwada Dammallam . The hypocrisy and selective justice of the Nigerian media and its Siamese twins, the public affairs analysts and quasi-NGOs, is simply out of this world. This much is exposed by the arrest of a kidnapping ring behind cases of rampant kidnappings in Kano. A covert operation by the Kano Command of the NPF led to the rescue of 9 children who were kidnapped and “smuggled” to Onitsha, Anambra State and subsequently renamed and converted to Christianity. . One only need to scratch the surface to expose the repulsive double standards of the Nigerian media, the overbearing community of quasi-analysts operating with a seeming “over-upright” attitude and many religious groups deceptively disguised as NGOs. The story of Ese Oruru is still fresh in the minds of Nigerians for better understanding of the theme of this piece. . Sometime in 2016, an over-exuberant young girl of 15, Ese Oruru, eloped with her Kano boyfriend from Bayelsa to Kano, the Southern press went wild, saying she was abducted and forced to accept Islam. The umbrella body of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) reacted to Osuru’s elopement with acerbic assumptions and unfounded malicious conclusions sparing no Nigerian Muslim in the frenzy. The body warned traditional rulers and religious leaders “not to encourage” forceful marriage of underage girls against their wish, noting that such practice is a violation of their constitutional rights. Meanwhile, the two love birds only acted on their childish impulses to make real their infatuation. . For Oruru and her boyfriend, CAN and its affiliates had a field day reducing the North and the entire Muslim community in Nigeria into a devilish and pedophiliac community while a large army of hyperactive “analysts” and “NGOs” amplified the campaign to maximize effect. Annoyingly, on the case of the criminal abduction of the Kano 9, not even the fact that they were renamed and forcefully converted into Christianity could attract the attention of CAN and the Jos based “Stefanos Foundation” that “gallantly” fought Oruru’s case, to condemn this criminality or at least, apologize to the North and Nigerian Muslims for deliberately misreading and misinterpreting the Oruru case just to satisfy a craving for a seeming addiction to lower the esteem of Islam and Muslims in Nigeria. . Who but a dunderhead could miss Oruru’s case for the isolated and common incidence of adolescence exuberance it was? And yes, who but a dunderhead could miss the unforgivable criminality that was the Kano 9 abduction? Somehow, newspapers are empty of the boisterous columns that hitherto, hosts “erudite” columnists that could easily pass for a walking, talking “Nigerian human right laws” going by the ease they shamelessly twist or (mis)quote such laws just to suit their malicious agendas — always trying to outdo each other in what, at best, could be said to be a frenzy of investment in commercial bereavement whenever individualistic incidences like this happens; when a Muslim go off the road and harm a Christian. . How much brain would it cost to see and understand criminality and deal with it for what it is? The Kano 9 abduction is a clear case of criminality and no matter how much some people would try to suppress it, its significance to our national development and cohesion would remain glaring. This is one case I would love to see pursued to its logical conclusion. Let me at this point explain that in Islam, religion is a matter of conviction not forceful conversion. The idea that Muslims forcefully convert Christians into Muslims whether in Nigeria or elsewhere is false in its entirety. . This may explain why Nabee Muhammad (SAW) peacefully co-existed with Christians and Jews in Medina. |

We were foolish as a country. Copied From Eng. Adamu Amako a Political Activist FCT Abuja. Our leaders were foolish. Terribly foolish and unreliable. Before the Structural Adjustment Programme (SAP) of 1986, Nigeria was a decent place to live in. At an average $1 to N2.02, the Nigerian Naira was big and strong. Enough for the majority of Nigerians to afford most of the important, basic things of life. The socioeconomy indices were mainly positive: less crime, less corruption, less indiscipline, less greed, less fear of the unknown, less stress on the family, more contentment, more discipline, more honesty and truth, and hard work, more employment, and jobs, more industries, more happy and prosperous people, etc. Nigeria was a good place to live in! We had our challenges but the majority of our people still happy and prosperous. But some advanced countries and international organizations were not happy. Our happiness was a sort of disadvantage to them, economically. They needed to come in and turn thing around, in their favor, for their economy advantage Suddenly, there was an opening. An opening created by a regime who came in by way of a coup and needed to legitimize its existence through international support. The IMF came in, as a weapon of socio-economic destruction. We were so foolish, we didn't realize this. Our leaders and the regime of IBB were more interested in legitimizing its existence and willing to do everything and anything to achieve this. Of course, the IMF did thorough homework. It understood the IBB regime's desperation and sold us a bait - the Structural Adjustment Programme (SAP). The bait was a lie from the pit of hell! IMF gave us loans and conditions that would be too tough to pay and fulfilled. IMF sold us a lie. The IMF knew that for SAP to be accepted by the majority of the people, there was the need to get Nigerians involved in the final decisionmaking to accept or reject the loans. IMF understood that for its lies to be successfully sold, the marketers and the salespeople must be Nigerians. So the IMF gathered a few IMF-trained Nigerian experts. Their job was simple - convince the government and the people that SAP will solve their socio-economic challenges. So, they sold us lies. We were told that we need to devalue the Naira to discourage to boost local production and consumption and enhance exports. We were told that SAP will help us concentrate on trade and production to boost the economy. We were told to open up our economy to foreign goods and services. How can you boost local production when you open up your economy to foreign goods and services? How can an economy that has a trade deficit and consumes mostly foreign goods and services be boosted if it opens its borders and economy to foreign goods and services? We were told to debate. And we did! We were told that the positives of SAP were much more than its negative. And we believed! We were told that the suffering was for a while. And we believed. We were too foolish to understand that a neo-liberal policy like SAP portends doom for the country. We implemented the SAP with its conditions religiously. So we debated until the IBB regime had enough of it and said the country has accepted IMF's SAP and its conditions! So we devalued the Naira, opened our economy to all kinds of goods and services - pencil, toothpick, matches, palm oil, frozen chickens, petrol, garments, rice, meat, and even garri and pizza! We were so foolish! Since 1986, when we started devaluing the Naira, the country and the economy were never the same again. It was the beginning of our doom. The more we follow IMF policies religiously, the worse our economy became, the more excuses the IMF gave. The more we devalue, the more stress we put on the social sector. The cost of goods and services went skyrocketed and out of reach of the majority of the citizens, unemployment went up, the government unable to fund critical projects, poverty increases, crime increases, corruption increases, purchasing power became weakened, local companies began to experience poor sales under stressed and unbearable economic conditions. Many folded up. Foreign companies were not left out. Many couldn't cope, and packed their "Kaya" and took a capital flight to neighbouring countries with more favourable economic and business conditions. And millions of Nigerians lost their jobs! The impact of SAP on the economy of Nigeria was crises of poverty, inequality, unemployment, corruption, and violence that we all witness today. Not until recently that the IMF apologized for giving Nigeria and other developing countries wrong economic advice. But who IMF apology epp? The irreparable damage has long be done. Not long ago, the IMF sold us another lie. It said for us to come out of our present economic challenge, Nigeria must focus more on Human Capital Development. As usual, in our foolishness, some of us said, "Eureka!" When will we stop believing in the IMF and their Nigerian agents? When will Nigeria stop following the IMF and its neo-liberal economic policies? Our mumu never do? (apologies to Charlie Boy) I am a strong believer in Nigeria, its potentials and in its ability to come out of any problems if the right things are done. First things first. One: We need a dictator with a benevolent heart at the helm of affairs! A leader who isn't afraid to take big decisions for the sake of the country. The genuine love for the country and the people as the ultimate driving force! Examples abound. Many nations have been rescued by such leaders. From Singapore to Malaysia, to the US, to China, to Japan, to Ghana, and recently Sudan! Two: We must look at the IMF and its agents in the eyes and tell them that devaluation of the Naira has not worked for us instead it has given our government, our people and our economy unbearable pains and hardship and we need to undo our mistake. Get the Naira back to its original value pre-1986! A bold decision to make. I know many people will disagree with me on this. And they will quote theories and books that are practically unworkable. The same books and theories we have be quoting and adopting since 1960. Smh! Three: Fight corruption and all its ramifications without caring whose ox is gored. We have no other choice than to kill it. Capital punishment for offenders is a sure way out. China and North Korea are doing it. If we can pronounce the death penalty on a man who steals goat in the market, why not do the same to people who not only steal from a nation but also kill the citizens and destroy the country? Heaven will not fall. Every other good thing can follow. Like Human Capital Development, ensures fiscal discipline, focus on agriculture and sports development, focus on entrepreneurship and financial literacy, encourage local production, infrastructural development with education, healthcare and housing as priority needs, implementing social investment programs, implementing macroeconomic policies that help raise the value of the Naira, etc. We must also encourage patience, contentment, unity, patriotism, discipline and hard work, especially among young ones. They are too much in a hurry to make this money. The loud message of money and prosperity has not helped. Our religious leaders, opinion leaders, and parents have a big role to play in de-emphasizing the role of money in our society. The message of prosperity and money has been too tempting for our young population to bear. It is the reason for the high rates of crimes and other evils among our youths. We must also find a solution to our population growth that puts further stress on existing social infrastructure! But all these are dependent on the first recommendation - Leaders with big balls! But do we have them? Tough question! God bless Nigeria. |

*AKINTOLA PROPOSES UMMAH DEVELOPMENT FUND (UDF)* *(REVISED VERSION)* In a lecture delivered by Professor Ishaq Akintola, the director of the Muslim Rights Concern at the Annoor Mosque, Abuja, on Saturday 21st September, 2019, he opined that although Nigerian Muslims have the right to go on hajj as many times as they wish, in reality, hajj is only expected to be performed once in a lifetime. However, he said, Nigerian Muslims overdo it by going on hajj and Umrah every year. According to Akintola, those who do so earn more rewards from Allah but they end up making Saudi Arabia richer while Nigeria becomes poorer. Akintola added, "It is time for strategic thinking. There is no time to lose. Muslim leaders must establish the Ummah Development Fund (UDF) in order to improve the economic condition of Nigerian Muslims. "While those Muslims who go on hajj and Umrah every year should be allowed to do so because they are merely exercising their Allah-given fundamental human right of freedom of worship as entrenched in Section 38 (i) & (ii) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, they should be made to contribute to the Ummah Development Fund. "Those going on hajj or Umrah for the second, third or more times should be made to pay to the Ummah Development Fund. Anyone repeating hajj should pay 5% of the total cost as his contribution to the UDF while those repeating Umrah should pay 13%. "Disbursement of UDF should go to the education, health, humanitarian and economic sectors of Nigerian Muslims in this manner : 60% to education (establishment of more Islamic universities); 20% to health (establishment of Muslim hospitals); 10% to humanitarian services (for taking care of Muslim widows, orphans and other vulnerable Muslims) and 10% to investments (building of halal hotels and other businesses). "However, those who have never performed hajj or Umrah before should be exempted. Laying more emphasis on his analysis, Akintola asked, "Where are Muslim hospitals? How many Islamic universities are in Nigeria? The total number of universities in Nigeria is 170. Out of this number, the Federal Government has 43, the state governments have 48 and 79 are private universities. Buy the real tragedy is that out of the 79 private universities, only six (6) belong to Muslims. Muslim students are persecuted in those private universities which are owned by non-Muslims. They are forced to attend church services. Female Muslim students are not allowed to use hijab. Muslim students are denied the right to form Islamic associations like MSS. They are not allowed to observe salat as no space is allocated to mosques. Yet Nigerian Muslims continue to snore loud in their sleep. Who did this to Nigerian Muslims? Akintola also added the Zakat angle to his proposed UDF. "As at today, only those states practicing Shari'ah are collecting zakat officially. But what of millions of Muslims in the other states? "I therefore suggest that Muslim communities in those remaining states should organise voluntary payment of zakat to be managed by tested and trusted Muslim leaders in their states. Zakat funds collected in the states should be used in the same manner as those collected on hajj and Umrah. Akintola lamented the poor condition of Nigerian Muslims. He said, "Too many Muslims are suffering. Employers of labour discriminate against Muslim job seekers. I am constrained to single out Muslim women whose employability is at the lowest level due to the Islamic dress code of hijab. "The divinely ordained use of hijab often makes it impossible for Muslim women who use hijab to get jobs. For instance, the army, police, NDLEA, customs, immigrations advertised for recruitments this year (2019) but Muslim women in hijab could not apply. "Let me quickly respond to the question raised by a member of the Abuja chapter of MURIC in his online contribution to the issue of UDF during this lecture. The brother suggested that I personally or MURIC as a group should coordinate UDF. "I have responded by telling him and other members of MURIC in Abuja Chapter that it means UDF is dead on arrival. "The question we should ask ourselves is : should MURIC or Akintola arrogate this UDF idea to himself or itself? I say a capital NO. Let all Muslims have access to it, analyse it, adopt it or reject it. Posterity will judge. "I therefore propose the establishment of a UDF COMMITTEE in which all major Islamic organizations in the country will have one representative each. Members of this committee will propose a Board of Trustees (BOT) who will manage the fund. "The BOT membership, hopefully, will include tested and trusted Muslims like Mallam Adamu Adamu (current Minister of Education), Mallam Ahmed Ali (current head of customs) and Professor Ishaq Oloyede (current head of JAMB). "Finally, I call on the Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) to take the bull by the horn by requesting for nominations from major Islamic organizations throughout the country. "I put the responsibility on the wide shoulders of the NSCIA because it is the only umbrella organization for Muslims in Nigeria. It therefore has indisputable locus standi. Nevertheless, NSCIA is advised to hands off the team once it has been set up. The BOT of the UDF can only perform effectively if it is independent. "This suggestion for the establishment of Ummah Development Fund is capable of lifting millions of Nigerian Muslims out of poverty, ignorance and disease. "I urge Muslim leaders and Muslim elites to embrace it in the interest of coming Muslim generations. This is our legacy to unborn Muslim children. To ignore it is to incur the wrath of young Muslims who are already getting frustrated anyway. They are already asking : how did the affair of Nigerian Muslims get so worse? Why are we the dregs of society? What were our fathers doing? Why did they allow this to happen to us?" PLEASE SHARE AMONG MUSLIM INDIVIDUALS, MUSLIM GROUPS & ISLAMIC ORGANISATIONS |
